PC's Restaurant & Lounge. Front lobby.

I visited PC's Restaurant & Lounge for lunch on Thursday, April 21, 2022. My hopes were high since the parking lot was loaded with cars. Note: post-Covid this restaurant is open every day from 11-2:30 PM for lunch, and 5-9 for dinner. They are closed Mondays and open at 9 AM on Saturday and Sundays for breakfast. Upon walking in, I noticed this is a very large restaurant with a spacious lobby, waiting area and small room with video games. The bar, to the right of the front door, looked long and had a few patrons. Inside, the dining area had dim lighting. I ordered the Thursday special, which was posted near a pig statue in the reception area. This included a red chile beef enchilada casserole, side of Spanish rice, and refried beans for $11. The enchilada casserole appeared to have been left over beef enchiladas compressed, mis mashed, and resold in a casserole. The chile had no heat and the rice tasted a bit flavorless. The free sopapilla tasted great and had a light and airy dough. My food had a lukewarm temperature. The food here is average New Mexican fare. No real heat to the chile and bland Spanish rice. Prices are okay, but you can get much better New Mexican food at other restaurants.

The restaurant is cute and friendly service. The food itself was average but came out very fast and hot. Their chips and salsa are tasty but disappointed with my enchilada plate.

Do not order to-go from here! Host was very rude. Red chili was spilt all over. All 7 meals that we ordered were cold.

I love, love, love the food. That being said, unfortunately I had to leave last time bc there was zero staff. Waited an hour for food.

Place signs around outdoor seating area notifying guests to place drink orders at the bar. 2. Designate at least one person to take orders at tables indoors. Give option to place orders at right or left side of bar. My aunt, mother and I were ignored multiple times by multiple staff after we asked at bar if we should order there and were told to take a seat and someone would be with us shortly. Two other tables that came in after us were served. I then had to go up to the bar to ask to pay as no one came by again even after all our drinks were empty for at least 10 minutes. Again multiple staff walked by us multiple times. Hard not to read into the reasons we were ignored specifically when several groups were being tended to.

The cocktail itself was delicious and unlike anything I've had before. My personal favorite, however, was the Mezcal Paloma. Our bartender, TJ, crafted it to perfection. Watching him work was like watching a magician at his craft, every drink was made with skill, attention to detail, and genuine passion. Between the beautiful setting, creative cocktails, and exceptional service, Secreto is a place I would gladly return to on my next trip to Santa Fe.

I've spent enough time in bars to know when someone is good at their job. Katya operates on an entirely different level. She can take what feels like sixteen orders at once, remember every single one, deliver them with absolute precision, keep the entire room moving, somehow do the math in her head, and still make every customer feel like they're the only person sitting at the bar. The basement bar itself is exactly what a great dive should be; a shithole. Heavy hobo stab vibes upon entry, including Katya. Smell: multiple buttholes farting at once. Climate control: sweaty patron dependent. Lighting: liability. TV: playing a rotation of trash 80s DVDs . If business schools were smart, they'd study her. If hospitality groups were smart, they'd clone her. If Santa Fe has any sense at all, they'll do whatever it takes to keep her exactly where she is. Cash only, so come prepared. And bring plenty of it, because she deserves every penny. Katya must be protected at all costs.

Unfortunately, the charm started wearing off when I realized the entire building was coughing. Kitchen? Coughing. Staff? Coughing. Customers? Coughing. At one point it sounded less like a restaurant and more like the waiting room at urgent care during flu season. I generally prefer my breakfast without the ambient soundtrack of respiratory illness, particularly when some of the coughing is coming from the people preparing the food. Meanwhile, the AC was apparently set to "meat locker," so I froze my ass off while drinking coffee that immediately informed my colon we had somewhere else to be. Combine that with the nuclear salsa and I was suddenly operating under a very real deadline. Naturally, I walked outside to discover I had been completely parked in. And somehow my friend, who parked in a totally different spot, was ALSO parked in. So now two adults with increasingly urgent gastrointestinal situations are performing eight-point turns in the parking lot like we're taking the final exam at defensive driving school. The food was genuinely good. Unfortunately, good eggs can only carry an experience so far.
