I really like Santa Fe Bite but this time I was very disappointed. Always loved their hamburgers but this time I was surprised. I always order a med rare and it's always perfect. This time I got a well done burger that I had to send back. Being with a group of friends who all got their meal, I didn't want to take a chance and perhaps get the same order. So I left with a chicken sandwich. Took it home only to find the chicken was dry. Think I will wait a while before I return.

We just discovered this gem. LOVE the Chopped Veggie salad (we add chicken). We keep coming back for that. The staff has never failed to be welcoming and helpful. :) The fish & chips special looks amazing & not greasy -- but I had my tastebuds set on a burger today, so another time! I took off a star because I think, for its location, it's expensive (example...burgers: $12.50 for 6oz to $27 for 15oz) BUT I will say it's ALL TASTY! And worth the occasional splurge. They seem to have a loyal local following, which says a LOT for consistency. ;)

This spot was recommended by a friend. We were seated quickly. The food camp out hot and perfectly cooked to order, the homemade chips were a pleasant surprise. If you are wanting a good juicy burger this is your place. Very casual environment

STILL the famous Bobcat Bite Burger I've been eating the amazing Bobcat Bite Green Chile Cheeseburgers for 31 years; the location from the older (and quite eclectic) location off the highway didn't change these great burgers. I dined last night with 12 from the Santa Fe Foodies, as I have for decades. I ordered the amazing GCC (Green Chile Cheeseburger) med rare, and it was as good as it was three decades ago. I think 10 people at our party ordered this, and everyone seemed to agree it's a classic. My wife had a Patty Melt, which was outstanding! The service by Ashley was fantastic; a plus was that we got our drinks ordered by the previous owner, Bonnie. It was so lovely to see her smiling face; it brought back many memories. All the food came out at once and was perfect. Unlike the old days, Santa Fe Bite serves some yummy desserts, too (in the old days, lollipops were the only offering; they wanted you out so they could serve more burgers in what was a tiny restaurant). Today, in the new location, it's huge compared to an outside setting in nice weather. Carrot Cake and Lemon Curd cake are very good. There is a reason Bobcat Bite is featured in the famous "Hamburger Nation" film and Food Networks #1 best Ever GCCB, don't let the newer name confuse you: this IS the Bobcat Bite.

As you can see, I couldn't wait to take a big bite out my burger!

Simple, really good food. The burgers are the best in town; big and juicy! The Chicken sandwich is terrific, especially when loaded with green chile. Don't expect fancy, but you'll get your money's worth and you won't go hungry after eating here, the staff is pleasant and helpful, especially Diane. The place is where you can go when you're really hungry but you just want to go in your jeans and enjoy a burger without all the pretense of so many of the local restaurants. The restrooms are clean and have chalkboards where you can leave your thoughts...good or bad. Mine were good!

These types of restaurants are far and few between. The ambience and lighting were welcoming. Staff were extremely friendly and the owner of this restaurant went around the customers tables to check in on them. The food: the meat was extremely fresh tasting. We had the posole and it was very flavorful. Fries and chips were very tasty. On to the dessert- homemade and amazing. So so good!! The banana cream pie was to die for. Will be coming back!!

I drove by it as it's one of the first places in the strip mall, then walked by it, and only after I saw a hand full of people (locals) coming out did I even know it was a restaurant. Inside is nicely decorated and clean. It was busy and yet I was promptly greeted and being alone I sat at the bar. (No screaming kids, which is always nice) The wait staff was great. It was about 1 pm so late lunch hour, and everyone was great. If they weren't waiting on someone they were busy tidying up. The 10 ounce chile cheeseburger is huge, and the homemade bun was wonderful. Best one (out of 5) I've had around here yet. I'll come back for sure.

This was the rare (and I mean exceedingly rare) restaurant that we actually visited twice while we were in Santa Fe. The reason: their green chile cheeseburger is pretty much as good as everyone says it is. Definitely in a death match with about two other places for the title. We also had a number of their other entrees (pork chop, BLT, steak sandwich, etc.) at this casual, pleasant restaurant. Everything else was pretty good as well, if not special. Their cakes/pies- not our thing. And missed out on their shakes which we heard a lot about. Oh well, next time.

Ask the Community - Santa Fe Bite

What's for dessert?

I've never thought about dessert at Santa Fe Bite! Maybe an after-dinner stop at an ice cream parlour would be a good option. Usually the green chili cheese burger leaves me not thinking about another calorie-loaded gut bomb!

Are they open "again" , these comments are 3-4 years old?

yes. they are just not super exciting, i'm afraid to say. i've had some hits and misses.

Have they re-opened in the new location yet?

Yes, and are open now that COVIC restrictions allow for limited indoor dining. Excellent take away available too, packaged properly so nothing gets soggy.

Is this place opened?

Yes-reopened 15 October. Same great burgers, fries, shakes-and breakfast too!

The goodness began with Naomi, who helped me fix an error in my reservation and get a table at a good time tonight. The goodness continued with our server Mitzi, who should be teaching graduate classes in hospitality in every big city. She was friendly without being overbearing, informative without being pedantic, subtle and gracious. Now, the food! My wife chose the vegetarian tasting menu and I had some of each dish: so very flavorful (a green salad with pears, a life-changing mushroom bisque [and I don't like mushrooms!], a chickpea croquette with pickled artichoke hearts and ratatouille, and a substitution of the lemon crepe for three yummy scoops of sorbet and gelato. I chose the scallops, perfectly cooked and moist, over couscous, and a dish of tasty sauteed baby spinach. A wonderful experience, and not overpriced, and everyone treated us sweetly. The musical soundtrack was swinging, and at a compassionate volume. Our first trip to Santa Fe, and we found a gem. Hooray! And thank you, Mitzi!

The interior is classy and very comfortable. We were seated at a nice comfy corner booth. The soft music in the background was soothing and just noticeable enough without being a distraction. We were served complimentary flutes of local sparking wine and a fresh baked bread basket and butter to start. We then ordered cocktails and three starters. First was a split plate of the endive smoked duck salad with a warm bacon vinegarette. Wow...this was nice and refreshing. This was followed by the crab dumplings with fresh corn and peas and lobster sauce. Delicious! The final small plate was seared foie gras on top of banana bread toast. This was very good. I miss foie gras. Unfortunately, it's banned in California. They had a 2023 Sea Smoke "Ten"Pi ot Noir on the wine list. This is one of the best Pinot Noirs produced in California and not easy to find. This was a no doubter and we ordered a bottle to pair with our entrees. My wife ordered their signature elk tenderloin for redemption because the restaurant the night before failed at executing this. I ordered the tomahawk pork chop. This was cooked to perfection with a nice thin crust on the outside and a perfect very light pink juicy center. We ordered a side of brocolini that was pan roasted with shallots and butter. Everything was very good and Michelin grade in our opinion. Lastly we ended the evening and split the tiramasu type of desert. My wife had the expresso martini and I had an 18 year old Glen Morangie scotch neat. The service was excellent and worth the splurge. This is a must when visiting Santa Fe.

Boy, am I glad we did. We had the great pleasure to have Clarisa C serve us. What a delight! Very knowledgeable with what's on tap. We tried a few samples and I decided on Fields of Rye and hubby had Slice of Hefen. Both paired well with our meal, Green Chili Tuna melt and Southwest Cobb Salad. Clarisa was kind and patiently listened to hubby s list of Dad Jokes. I sure hope she's there when we pass through again. You're the best Clarisa!

They have since announced that they are changing locations and the new location promises to be better all around!) Have wanted to try RFA and sample some of their offerings. They didn't disappoint. RFA is SERIOUS about their craft. A tremendous amount of RFA as well as other regional brews to try. They curate their beer menu much similar to a fine restaurant puts together their wine cellars. Crazy that a brewery this small offers so many options! We were told their food was also very good, so we ordered the recommended green chile burgers w/ fries, a tuna salad sandwich and a Greek quesadilla. All were phenomenal! Service was very good. Their tiny taproom didn't have an available table so we sat on the patio. It was a tad hot but we enjoyed the vibe for sure. We tried Every Brewery Has A Paul, Stalker, and Fields of Rye farmhouse ales, and some Hyside Nordic Blonde ales. All traditional farmhouse style.

Seated immediately on the 2nd floor patio, we had a view of the downtown below, perfect weather and the music was blaring inside so we were pleased to be outside. In no hurry, we ordered chips and a three dip sampler (queso, guac and salsa). Two margaritas, please! $6 on happy hour and plenty potent, on the rocks. Drinks were fast to arrive, but the food was was extremely slow given it was just chips and dips. It turns out they were frying a fresh batch of chips which were superb. Chips were hot and crispy, guacamole was fresh and creamy and the queso was standard but yummy because I Love Queso. Their dark, rich roasty salsa was especially delicious, so I took a closeup so you could literally see the flavor. I could drink this salsa! We gorged ourselves on chips while trying to decide if the food was good enough to order a meal here. It was. Our server was a chill and accommodating young man, happy to talk through all the gluten free options on the menu with me. He had a couple of other large tables and still had time to chat and help me decide. Although they do offer some rice flour breaded fried items on the menu, I opted for a chicken quesadilla on three (six) corn tortillas instead because of his animated descriptions. It was enormous, and by adding $6 of grilled chicken inside, also filling but no longer really a happy hour bargain. Gooey and cheesy, tender chicken, green chiles, but not as crispy on the outside as I would have made at home. Husband ordered two fish tacos and was absolutely stunned at the enormous size of the breaded fish and huge cut in half tortilla tacos he received. In the end, he had to gut the second one and just eat the insides because he was so full! The fish was a thick piece, with a heavy crunchy thickly applied batter. An excess of coleslaw had to be removed, it was wet and heavy but not bad in flavor just too much. But they were yummy! Our friendly server put in our second drink order at some point and I forget exactly what happened after that but I had a lovely conversation with some other ladies on the patio. When the bill came, we were surprised to see the happy hour discount applied to the quesadilla and the fish tacos, but not the chips and three dips. Also the pricing on the restaurant menu was different than the website menu, and all of that was different than what we were actually charged. Our server explained that the trio was already such a bargain that the discount didn't apply. I find that to be pretty deceptive. Anyway without hassling him about it, we paid the tab on the little kiosk and wandered back to our vacation rental stuffed and sleepy.

After I asked for the check, the waiter offered drinks from the happy hour menu, dessert and asked me if I wanted to place an order of vegetable "something healthy" for the next day? First time that I been offer that. Would not go back again.
