First I'd like to say I have gone here for years and years. Buying for my kids, husband, friends, holidays and birthdays. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars to support this local business. I went to exchange a bag I bought for a friend's birthday. She used it for a week and the handle broke. I went in with the receipt and asked for a replacement. They didn't have the same one so she called someone and when she got off she told me too bad. Since they don't have an identical one I would not get a replacement or a store credit. Apparently the owner or manager authorized this. I was appalled. I told the girl what I thought of this policy and asked her to file my complaint with the owner. She didn't care, she just said I only work here. They DO NOT care that I spent money on something that was clearly defective and they refused to back up the products they sell by offering a store credit. She told me they said to call the manufacturer of the bag. I CANNOT BELIEVE this. It's disgusting. They basically stole money from me. What a rip off. The friends I talked to about it were disgusted and encouraged me to write this. So beware if you shop here and something doesn't work out with a product they don't make, they will not honor a return. Absolutely disgusting and sad way to do business. I had gotten a zip up sweatshirt for Christmas! I received a gift receipt with it. The sweatshirt was a size too big, so I took it back about a month after it was purchased. Super easy exchange! And the gentleman helping me was extremely friendly and attentive, as well as his fellow coworkers! The only setback is the color design I received as a gift, was no longer available in store. I was pretty bummed, But I was informed when I received the gift to go back as soon as possible to make sure I got the same one. Very well stocked store and it should be being the signature store and local clothing skate and surf favorite. Hoodies, t shirts bumper stickers key chains hats beanies jackets socks you name it. Lots of different colors for example we got a Santa Cruz shirt logo which was sf 49'er colors red and gold, hard to find. They even have Xmas tree ornaments Santa Cruz logo .Customer service is awesome help you find a size answer any questions etc and happy to help . I will take pictures next time I stop by. Amazing staff! I was greeted as soon as I walked in. I spent a good amount of time browsing and was genuinely surprised by the selection! I was looking for a nice pair of sweats and a zip up hoodie, they had so many options to choose from. Loved that they had a wide variety of sizes available too. I ended up going with a black classic hoodie and a pair of sweats pants, I also snagged a few stickers and a patch at check out for my niece! The prices were great for what I was getting. When checking out the cashier was super helpful and made sure to let me know about their exchange policies. Never shopping here again. All sales final!! I was told I could return a purchase after Christmas then was offered a gift receipt. Came back on the Sunday after Black Friday and was told I couldn't return it. Salespeople should know the stores policies. Prices were jacked up too. They didn't even offer to fix their mistake by offering to return the items. Bad management and policies. Don't shop here for gifts cause you can't return purchases!!! Service was horrible. One sales person helping while two behind the counter with their backs turned most of the time. Once they see you and it looks like you need help they turn around again. I went in a while back to get a couple family members sweaters from this store. The girl who helped me at the register was nice. One nephew got a hooded sweater with flames that worked out and loved. The other nephew had the classic zippered Santa Cruz sweater. At the time of purchasing I did not realize that the sweater had a defect. There was a hole in it. I had given him the receipt and he tried to return it and they refused him. They claimed that the sweater was used although it was not. Very disappointing. Went in to grab some santa cruz gear for my family as I usually do everytime I visit, there were two girls working. I asked for some help finding a size for a shirt and one of the girls ( long brown hair, tall, reeked of weed) was super rude and short with me. When I went to purchase my items she didn't make any eye contact, probably cause she was high, and had a snotty attitude. I think I overheard the other girl call her the manager. Went in to buy my brothers some gifts , walked in no one greeted me at all but , a Caucasian lady walks in everyone greeted her they even walked up to her and asked if she needed help . I minded my business and just kept looking around for clothes . One of the employees kept following me seeing what I had in my hand just following which honestly made me feel discriminated, I earn my income like everyone else . Then It was time to pay walked up to two girls, they were more busy talking to each other then ringing me up. I literally felt invisible. They were also very short with me, as I'm walking out the lady that walked In behind me was getting checked out. The two girls dropped everything and started to ask her if she found everything she needed and giving her good customer service . They never bothered asking me that. My son got a Santa Cruz sweatshirt for Christmas from his aunt, the zipper broke after wearing it for a couple weeks and washed 3 or 4 times. His aunt didn't have the receipt and went to return or exchange it, after all it did cost like 50.00 dollars. The teenage girl in the store said sorry you already washed it and stuck by there no return policy, but after my wife's insistence that when you get new clothes you wash them, she called her manager who didn't answer, but then called back. The manager said to go to the manufacturing location on Seabright to see what they would do for us. What a joke, they won't even stand by there product. The zipper broke after a couple weeks, even a sweatshirt from Target will last longer than a couple weeks and there clothes are made in China, not in Santa Cruz! My son was so excited to get his zip up hoodie Santa Cruz jacket. After one wash the seams under both arms split. The thread had come undone. I returned it to the store for an exchange due to defect and it was barely 3 weeks of owning this jacket. The girls at the desk had to call the manager and though I didn't have a receipt I did have proof on my credit card statement I pulled up. The manager told the girls no due to we had washed the jacket they would not return any items washed even if it was a defective product. So disappointed to have paid over $50 for a company to not back their product that you could clearly see was not caused by our neglect but the product itself defective! Unreal horrible customer service! Tells me they are not about customers, but just what they can make to put into their pocket. We will never give our business to them again! We wanted to get a hat for my son for Easter and were having a hard time fining a youth size. Last minute, the night before Easter, we remembered that this was one store we hadn't tried. We saw that they close at 8:00, jumped in the car, raced down there from Scotts valley. Parked, ran through the mall at got there at 7:51. They had the youth sizes! However, when I went to purchase it they said they it can only be a cash purchase because they had already closed the register. I didn't have cash on me. They said it is their practice to close the register 10 minutes before closing. The young girl that claimed to be the manager was extremely rude and unapologetic. If they close the register at 7:50 maybe they should make their listed closing time 7:50. read more

I've been going to shop at the Capitola Mall for a long time (since they opened) and have had no trouble before. I have always thought that the practice of All Sales Final very discouraging on there part anyways but here is my story.... If the shirt is used washed or damaged that is a honorable reason not to take any product in a business practice. Damaged goods shouldn't be acceptable anyways, but not being able to exchange a shirt same price for another same price shirt is absolutely ridiculous. I wasn't asking for a refund or credit either. I even had the receipt showing that I did purchase the shirt there and it was only 5 days ago. Employee rudely basically told me I was out of luck and wouldn't do anything about and had to keep it. I'm not asking for that much really just a switch. My shirt was still new! What JERKS! I'm a Santa Cruz Local born an raised just supporting my City and they just take my money and I get stiffed? This was the worst shopping experience I've ever had. I was looking for tee shirts for my nephew and was the only person in the store except for the four young ladies behind the cash register. Three of them had their head's down in their cell phones and all four were talking to each other. I had to finally walk up to them and, since they wouldn't look up, ask if I could interrupt. One of them pointed me to the other side of the store to look for tee shirts. When I walked up to pay, I had to interrupt them again. By this time about five other customers were in the store and they were being ignored, too, except for a young guy in a hat that two of them were pointing to and giggling about. They never said a word to me, processed my charge card and held up the receipt. No "Thank You"--nothing!! I grabbed my receipt and left. It's a darn good thing that you have a product that sells itself, since the people you are paying aren't doing a thing for your business.
