I was blown away of what a disaster the Toys R Us section is in this location. It was filthy and disorganized. Packages were ripped open. Someone's half eaten lunch on the shelf in reach for my child. It seemed nobody was even working here. We won't be going back but I miss the old Toys R Us. Too bad Macys ruined a great legacy but no surprise. Macys is a dying animal . read more

The most professional, courteous and knowledgeable sales clerk helped me today at the Macy's Capitola Jewelry counter. Her name is Christina. Unlike another clerk in cosmetics, who was abrupt and didn't take time. BUT Christina...is a gem. More people should be like her. I definitely will return to shop with her. read more

Prefer to shop at this Macy's location than others in the area for the selection and customer service. I've tried shopping at other locations, but they don't offer the same experience as the Capitola Macy's. Deals, well organized, and beautifully staffed. With the convenience of online shopping, this Macy's is one of the few stores I'm willing to still shop in person. read more

Macy's Capitola is looking good! The styles (happen to be?) good (if too many fabrics are synthetic, a.k.a. oil-based). Not enough sales clerks, but the ones there were were very good, especially in tghe cosmetics department. Things are looking neat and clean. It was a real pleasure to shop there to day. read more

So I went to Macy's about a month ago to buy some perfume and their associate Ingrid was super insistent that I sign up for a store card. SHE EXPLICITLY LIED TO ME and said that it was not a "real" credit card and that it would not affect my credit score. Anything to make a sale. I'm so pissed right now! Of course my credit score dropped. I've been trying to call Macy's all morning but their automated system pissed me off! Ingrid is a liar and y'all shouldn't try to destroy people's livelihoods. read more

The store itself was ok but the service was great for the most part. Particularly I'd like to thank Jennifer from At your service as she was very kind and helpful. I believe she is a very hard worker and deserves more recognition, every time I come to the store it seems she's giving it her all. She's always going above and beyond regardless of what she's doing and I always see her running around the whole store. Now on a less pleasant note I find that the woman upstairs who does the suit fitting is rather rude and doesn't treat her coworkers very kindly, I feel something should be done about her. But overall decent experience at this store. read more

I was in a hurry today and maybe that is why I'm somewhat upset.... When there are 2 employees working in the same area, I would think one would stay in the register. Instead, they are both talking inside the fitting room for more than 5 minutes. I walked to another register which if I have to I will but please cover your area and be aware of customers that need assistance. They left the register as I walked in the door. The store overall: Clothes are decent, and I always like to check last call for good deals. read more

Feel like it gets 3 stars for still being at the Capitola Mall and being a choice for Santa Cruzans. It's kinda smelly like all Macy's are. Also smaller than most Macy's if you're looking to shop at a normal Macy's. Kinda dim in some spots. read more

This Macy's in Capitola Mall is one of the very few stores in the mall that still can give me a good shopping experience. But it is not as good as a few years ago! The store seems smaller than most of the Macy's with not too many customers in there. The shopping is comfortable and the store is nice and quiet. The parking lot is very big and you should be able to found a parking space in front of one of the store entrances easily. read more

I go to this location almost once a week, the people in the fragrance department are very helpful and will let you test or smell any colognes that are on the sales floor. They make you feel real comfortable and don't rush you in your decisions. I ended up buying a 3.4 oz Versace Dylan blue pour homme cologne, Versace makes some good cologne, but some of them are strong af Versace eros and Dylan Blue are strong and loud fragrances. So you only need to apply a little. Thank you and I am happy with my purchase. read more

Ingrid from men's Chanel Fragrance is very poised and professional. She greets customers with a friendly demeanor. I like the way she knows her products and could answer any question I had. This is the customer service I look for when spending money. Thank you Ingrid for the great service! Overall this Macy's is clean and well organized. read more

Disappointed. Limited shoe selection and set up is like Payless Shoes. You search through the boxes on your own, no staff around and cash register closed. No womens (larger sizes) selection. read more

Today I went to Macy's located on 41st Avenue in Santa Cruz & I was helped by Jenny at the Estee Lauder counter. Jenny was so helpful, kind & a pleasure to work with. She told me that I qualified for the reserve cosmetics but I had to wait for 11 more days. She noticed that I wasn't a reward member so she signed me up so quickly. She also helped me choose my cosmetics that I qualified for & she even gave me samples of what I had came to purchase but had to wait. I love Macy's, Estée Lauder cosmetics & perfumes & when you deal with such a pleasurable person, it brings that much more value to the store & brand. read more

Online shopping may seem convenient, but it's always better to shop local. Even with department stores. It is a smaller store with a limited selection, but they can order anything Macy's has available and ship it to your home for free. Great customer service, convenient location and they are open late for people who work all day. Their last act clearance sections are the best and they are updated frequently. read more

This the SLOWEST Macy's check out place I've ever shopped at. One of the reasons is that it seems like all of the associates are elderly. They get chatty at the register with no regard for the ten people behind them. My suggestion: AVOID IT. Order online to avoid the frustration of this store. I've been in l8ne for 15 mins now and it's moved 2 people up. That's it. Why?? Chatting. read more

This is like the Macy's that time forgot, lol. I honestly always thought it was an outlet, or maybe not even open - but apparently it is? Went there around 8:30pm on a Saturday night and it was virtually empty, just me and one or two other customers. The few employees I encountered were nice, so they get the extra star. But I specifically went there looking for three things: A pair of jeans, shapewear, and a dress for an upcoming wedding. I wear a size 18, so I asked where their plus-sized department was. The very sweet woman then sheepishly took me to a RACK. Yes, one pathetic RACK of about a dozen clearance items in random sizes. Wth?? I did manage to find shapewear (like Spanx) in my size, and also picked up a new wallet + silver necklace chain while I was there. All for just $100 after discounts! But honestly, I'm not sure why this branch even exists. It was pretty useless, particularly for anyone over a size 14. read more

Way to go Macys. When I went shopping there a couple of months ago, I found out they got rid of their large size ladies department. If you wear larger than a size 12 you are out of luck. Funny, because these days in America, size 12 is pretty small . . . I am not even that large but can no longer shop at Macys. Adios. read more

DO NOT shop at Macy's online right now. I bought 2 items and only received 1. They don't even have an email to contact customer service. There was no receipt in the bag. The blanket I ordered was out of its bag and a strap and wrap was in the shipping bag separate from the ONE blanket I got. No way to reach them by phone. No options under order for it being short shipped. They're falling apart and likely will go bankrupt so they're ripping off their customers and not caring. Otherwise, why wouldn't they give a way to reach them? The COVID excuse doesn't work for me cuz I'm a Sales Rep and all of our manufacturers have kept customer service open to reach for a problem. None of them have just sent an empty box and then said, "high number of calls so....." read more

Had the worst experience shopping at Capitola Macys, Debbie with the mullet from Lancôme was the rudest person i've ever encountered. I went up to the counter to browse since i've never shopped with them before. She saw me looking around and NEVER offered help or said Hi. I felt uncomfortable, maybe it was because i was in my gym clothes or didn't look worthy but she did nothing but look me down. I had money in my wallet just anyone else. This day an age being a Hispanic women i felt it was shocking that this old age white women couldn't offer me help or even look me in the eye. Standing there with her smug face doing nothing was just crazy to me, i left and will take my business else where . Sincerely, disappointed. read more

Very unfriendly workers in the makeup department. They kinda just act as if your an inconvenience if you ask for help.

Manager at Macy's at Capitola is not at all helpful. Her staff made a mistake on a return and she was not willing to correct it.

I'll give this place a one star it might of been closer to a zero I literally was looking to spend some money for a ring for my Gf and the Asian gentleman in the jewelry section didn't even ask me if I needed help or ask how I was doing I was standing looking for a bit all he did was look at me like I was some nuisance with his smug face. And I ain't lying about this interaction as I was writing this some woman across the hall asked if I been helped bless her heart she needs an actual promotion or raise her customer service was a plus !!! read more

HOW DO YOU ONLY HAVE TWO PEOPLE working the cash wrap during your post x-mas sale 2.5 stars!!!! Of course.. I got stuck behind the woman who could not make up her mind and had to go back and forth.. after starting her return on lingerie items. The woman behind the register had to be someone who "wants to help EVERY individual in front of her" at the expense of the five other people in line. AND THEN after the woman who takes my return does not know how to do an exchange correctly and we had to do it twice.... it better NOT show up on my Macy's card as being charged twice!!! Long story short place is a hot mess.. but it is a million times slower paced that going over the hill... I did find a few cute tops... but holy crap... customer service is below par read more

I am writing this review to express my appreciation for the excellent customer service which I had received from Debbie at the Lancôme counter. Debbie was warm and accommodating, and she was very helpful and updating me on the new Lancôme products. Macy's - Painful response - Department Stores Near Me - Capitola, California

I went in to purchase water shoes and found what I wanted. When I asked the women behind a counter about them I was told they weren't allowed to help because the shoes were from another department. Turns out it was a leased area and there was a small sign saying they didn't open for at least another hour. Although in the end the clerks tried to help me, I just left. This was an uncomfortable, embarrassing, and frustrating experience that Macy's could and should avoid. read more

I am in a wedding party, and needed to find a specific colored and styled suit. Kathy helped me find exactly what I was looking for. She was incredibly helpful and her customer service was top notch. Because of her friendly service I will be coming back to Macy's for all my future clothing needs. P.s. - There were other customers there who thanked Kathy by name as they completed their purchase and on the way out the door I briefly chatted with them about how great Kathy's help was. She gives %110 to everybody! read more

I have received nothing but superior service on my last few visits to Macy's Capitola. The sales associates in the women's Impulse Clothing Department really go above and beyond and deliver top tier service. On my last three visits this year the sales associates all took their time to make me feel like a valued customer/cardholder. The sales team meetings seem to be paying off. I heard other customers very pleased with their shopping experience. Yesterday the ladies in the Impulse Department did an exceptional job. I couldn't have been more pleased with everything. One sales associate helped me try to find my desired size by running an item locator search and even pored through several rounders trying to help him find one. The sales associate at the cash wrap produced an additional Macy's coupon for me to use. Even though I had my own Macy's rewards coupon, my coupon was only good on sale and clearance items. I had a few tops that were regular price and she was able to help me reap additional savings, which makes me very happy. On my last three or four visits, I've had similar personalized experiences. The front-line employees always make me feel important and welcome. Fashions and merchandise are always on trend and displays are always neat and orderly. I've lived in this area all my life and shopped at Macy's many many times, that ends today. Today I Had the worst experience of racial profiling I've ever experienced in a retail store, maybe because being Sunday I'm not dressed in professional attire, who knows. One week before Christmas I was at Valley Fair and stopped by Macy's to pick up a cologne for my Christmas dinner party. The customer service there at Valley Fair was outstanding, and the Sales person took his time to show me what their best sellers were. I couldn't decide between Bleu by Chanel or my all time favorite LaCoste. The sales clerk advised that I buy them both and assured me they had a very flexible and customer oriented return policy. Today I decided to head into Macy's and return the Chanel cologne. I was going to drive back to Valley Fair to do my return, but my daughter who used to work at Macy's in Capitola assured me the staff was way more professional and cordial here in Capitola. I Immediately noticed the stair down from the only clerk working the counter at the fragrances department. Then instead of offering assistance directly at me with a smile since I had been waiting and was my turn, he says out loud "does anyone here need any help with fragrances". I felt disrespected and very upset. Why wouldn't he ask me directly? Am I invisible? Or just wanted to be condescending? I explained I had purchased two colognes and I had decided to keep the Lacoste and return the channel. The clerk said there was nothing he could do because I had forgotten the receipt. By the way, I did tell him if I could at least get store credit, he looked at me with a smirk and said "sorry I can't even give you store credit" I said come I'll find my receipt, which by the way had never been an issue. I then went across the department to ask for some tshirts in my size, while there, the fragrances clerk took the time to call the associate who was politely assisting me to tell him not to return the cologne. Which had never crossed my mind being a t-shirt department. I felt humiliated and went up to him and got his name and his managers name, because this type off behavior is not what I know Macy's is about. Employee name was Erick His managers name is Jessica This occurred today 01/11/2015 @ around 3:30pm read more
