If you want to buy sports merchandise at the Capitola Mall, skip Sports Fever and head a little further down to M@trix Santa Cruz. Their prices seem better anyway.

Eventually he relocated to downtown Santa Cruz, in the pacific garden mall (then known as Sports Xtreme) this store is fully stocked and whatever the don't have he will order it for you. I would've given 5 stars but when I went in today looking for a 49ers hat that was very hard to find and the woman at the register seemed uninterested in my purchase and took forever to ring me up. I was the only person in the store. The owner was very frustrated with her. I get it minimum wage, minimum effort but that is ridiculous at least pretend like you are happy to be there. It's the only place in Santa Cruz that sells authentic sports gear. Not sure if I will be back based on my experience today. Not sure what the hiring process is like, rest assured you will be out of business if you continue to hire workers that act like they would rather be somewhere else.

Unfortunately, they didn't have my size, but the friendly and helpful clerk clued me into their sister store, Big Kahuna, which had some sale Vionics available! I quickly walked next door! They had a wall full of sandals, including my favorite Vionics to choose from. I quickly picked out any sale sandals in my size, tried them on, and purchased two pair! I went into the Rip curl store on 41st Ave. and I was immediately blown away with the helpful attitudes of the staff. Keenan I hope I am spelling his name correctly did an incredible job. He got my phone number and said he would talk to the regional manager and get back to me. I received a call that afternoon. He said to come down and they would take care of me. I went today and Keenan did just as he said he would. I am so impressed with his customer service skills and his attention to detail as well as his eagerness to want to make a situation right. Those are all things that any employer would want to have and an employee and Rip curl is very lucky to have Keenan on their staff. Now I am so excited that I can buy the wetsuit I need to get out in the ocean and paddleboard!
