From what the employees described the store manager is a weirdo, apparently from the managers rules if you want the "free" stamped pokemon promo card you have to buy the Pokemon product that is marked 25% OVER MSRP therefore its Not free and if you try to buy of the Pokemon products they have at msrp then you wont get the pokemon card! I go to this Hot Topic often throughout the years and the assistant manager Isabelle gave me outstanding service!! She was so sweet and immediately offered to check online stock and store stock of items that didnt have the size I was looking for! Along with that she also helped me understand Hot Cash and how to properly use it! She went above and beyond with help and was lovely to chat with. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm pushing 40 and totally out of touch with what kids are doing and into these days... so Christmas shopping for my tween niece has been a challenge. I came into Hot Topic, described my niece's likes and dislikes and this magical Hot Topic fairy sprung into action, suggesting a plethora of great options. Bad costumer service... while shopping in hot topic today my grocery bag broke open and all the items spilled onto the floor I went to the cashier to see if I would be able to buy a bag as I could not carry all my items out of the store without one. the cashier said in order to get a bag I would need to purchase an item even though they could clearly see all my stuff was all over the floor. so pretty much spent $10 for a bag. no wonder the mall is going downhill!! read more

Best hot topic ever! They always have everything I need and prices are really good. The store is very organized and clean. I had worked for this company for about 5 years, so I'm slightly biased. As a customer, I'd probably give it 4 stars. As an employee, probably 2. So it gets to meet in the middle about 3. From the customer point of view, I actually kinda like it. I'm always greeted when I enter the store, I'm given some time to look around before somebody asks me how I'm doing, and I don't feel like I'm being pressured to buy things. On the other hand, the layout is pretty cramped (especially with the new design) so it's hard to get a stroller around. The sales are usually fantastic; the 50-75% of clearance is my favorite (it tends to be everybody elses too) but once in a while there's a nice sale on shoes or pants that I normally wouldn't have bought but being their on sale I must have them. :-P Also, if there's something you want in the company but they don't have it in store? If another store anywhere in the USA has it, they can have it shipped here for you. That's always pretty nice. It starts losing stars because the variety of clothing and the standard of clothing has come down a LONG way in recent years. They're starting to cater more towards the mainstream instead of the underdog. Boo to HORRENDOUSLY selling out. What happened to being all about the music? read more

save the trip to the mall and buy your items online. My advice to the manager- stop hiring teenyboppers who have major attitude problems. Everytime I go in the employees ignore you, either theyre playing flappy bird on their phones or theyre pretending to lookup something on the computer. I went it a few days ago to pick up an order that was shipped to the store. The two employees ignored me when I came in(shocker) and when I said I was there to pick up an order the girl just stared at me like Kirsten Stewart-completely vacant. Our convo broken down: "Hi im here to pick up an order" her: blank stares "from here.." her: "more staring" finally after 10 seconds "uhm am I supposed to try and guess who you are?" wow rude doesn't even cover it. I don't normally make reviews unless I had a great experience, or a really bad one... Super long story short(er), there are several reasons why I no longer shop at this specific Hot Topic, ( I would normally rate this one a one star but I was so incredibly relieved that the manger with black hair ( who has been working there for years) wasn't working today, because she always has an awful attitude. It's been so long since I have shopped here that there were three new employees. One however was extremely welcoming, her name is Chelsea. She was super sweet, friendly and helpful and actually made this visit likable. ( Her male co-worker sadly, did not share her enthusiasm, at least with guests because he was irritated that I had asked him to help us find a second pop variant figure... the man could honestly not wait to leave on his break ) But apart from him, it's rather refreshing to see an employee look like they actually want to be there. I hope her attitude never diminishes, because you don't run into people like that very often nowadays. I didn't catch her name, but her other coworker was friendly too! read more

I had to do some last minute birthday shopping for my teenager and I ended up walking out with stuff for myself! Thank you girl with the bike for pointing me in the right direction and thank you girl with the big black eye glasses for helping me find exactly what I needed. The staff at this location are always very helpful and friendly. My 15 year old daughter and I have been visiting this location weekly for several years. The current manager (Megan) is absolutely wonderful! She is genuinely friendly, helpful, sincere, enthusiastic, warm, and professional. She remembers what my daughter likes and points out the latest offerings every time we visit. The other staff members are also quite helpful and friendly. The culture in this particular Hot Topic is amazing. We enjoy spending time there! Horrible customer service from the STORE MANAGER named MEGAN. I tried to return an item I bought online and had it shipped to the store, when they asked me for the credit card I used to make the purchase (20ish days ago, the card expired 5 days ago) I told her it was expired and I was using the updated replacement card from the same account. She refused to refund me because she "didn't want to put her job at risk by using a different card number." I asked for a cash refund. She said no. I said that there must be an exception for situations where cards expire or get stolen. She said if she makes an exception for me then she'll have to make one for everyone. I said there has to be something she can do as a store manager since this situation isn't totally out of the norm. She replied hastily that there's nothing she can do and said that I can make the decision to exchange or receive store credit and then turned her back to walk out of the cash area and I replied with something along the lines of.. "I have worked in retail stores before, I know there is something you can do as a SM and make an executive decision in this circumstance." I don't think she liked that because she started getting very aggressive and telling me that I can make a decision and she doesn't need to hear anymore of the situation because that is that and that I need to stop yelling (I wasn't yelling, the speaker was directly above the counter and I was talking loud enough to hear myself over the loud music that is standard in HT.) I asked if she was worried about a return affecting her stats for the day because seriously, who wouldn't return something for a customer who's card expired? She didn't like that either and said her numbers are fine and don't worry about them and she's not going to do anything for me. When I asked her for her managers information she wouldn't "give me her personal information", I then asked for her managers corporate extension and she would only give me her managers first name, no phone number or extension or anything. I told her that she needs to work on her customer service as I turned to walk away and she walked around the counter with her arms out in like a come-at-me stance and she said "Im still here! I'm still here!" I am totally shocked by her behavior as a store manager. I can't believe that she thinks it's okay to A: talk to anyone like that, especially a customer with a perfectly normal circumstance that I'm sure happens often and B: that she made a person, especially a customer feel like they need to be prepared to physically defend themselves. She does not have the maturity or the tact to be a leader in the retail industry and I am really bummed because I just discovered how much cool stuff Hot Topic carries and have started to collect some of it. Now I won't go back there because she was horrible and aggressive. I have never felt intimidated by a store employee before and I just can't get over the whole situation. I'll be calling customer service tomorrow when they open to file a complaint with HR. read more

I seriously cannot believe how bad the service was. This woman must have been having a bad day or had a vendetta against working that day. My mother was in a scooter/wheelchair and the associate was still abrasive, short with us and wouldn't let us look around, (I wanted to do an partial exchange, return one item and exchange another) I had received a sweatshirt as a Christmas gift and was interested in maybe getting a size up. The woman spoke over me before I could get a word in edge wise, customers have questions when they return. I had also received online coupons which she demanded I return to her if I were to make an exchange, which in no way no how did those coupons from online correlate with the transaction I was making. she took them out of my hand, yup she did, and said she had to take them, apparently I had struck a nerve wanting a larger size, jeeze I'm upset about my weight too. Finally I just said no give me my stuff back I'll go to another Hot Topic where they aren't nutballs, to which she took my coupons and staple them to my receipt claiming they can not be separated. FYI nowhere on the coupon states I need to be manhandled and put up with rude clerks. Also YOU CAN GET THEM ONLINE! She's crazy guys. Beware. read more

The lady with the face tattoos has helped me - age 55- with so many things. Once you get past the tattoos and piercings, she is a very kind and helpful person. My daughter was a little afraid at first but soon realized what an awesome person she is. You can't judge a book by it's cover... A lesson my daughter learned at Hot Topic. My daughter is 13 but we met Farrah a couple of years ago. read more
