This place is dangerous because you will want 1 or 2 of everything. They have the BEST choices for yoga wear, athletic wear and lounge wear. I love wearing their clothes to work too...Really nice and fun quality brands like Beyond yoga, Free People, Goddess wear and ALO. They have an incredible selection of leggings, tops and yoga shorts and even some dresses. I literally love everything they bring in the store- I forgot to mention last time I bought some wonderful candles made in Santa Cruz and makeup too. My go to place to buy women's gifts- I even found the perfect skirt and jacket for my good friend who turned 81 the other day. A flowing skirt and goddess jacket. She said it was her new favorite outfit. On a side note my 11 year old also loves this place and the sports bras/tanks are perfect bras and occasional swimwear for her. I cannot in good conscience recommend this shop to anyone with a child/impressionable minor. The last time I was in shopping (with my 12 y/o daughter) right next to the jewelry carousel and checkout were two racks of greeting cards with the most vulgar and inappropriate "greetings"--some even using young children as the artistic "characters" as well. The first one that caught my eye was so repulsive and inappropriate that I immediately stood in between my daughter and the rack to avert her eyes. Please do better Bubble Lounge. These are R rated greeting cards that should not in anyway be on display for young children to see/read. read more

I love The Bubble Lounge & especially Jodi! I have been here three times & meant to leave a review sooner. The girls up front are so sweet & helpful (I bought two pairs of yoga pants after my wax & they are the best I've ever had) The main reason for my review is for Jodi & her skin care studio in the back. I had never gotten a Brazilian before and I cannot lie & say I wasn't nervous. Jodi's area is so soothing & she makes you feel very comfortable. She is quick and does a great job. I've been to Bubble Lounge in Santa Cruz and I really prefer the new location in Aptos. Cleaner, easy to get to, and better parking. Went in yesterday to check out the now location. Besides the fact that everything is for small sizes. My girlfriend was interested in the holiday pants that were in the back of the store. When she asked about them and noted that the only sizes were small and large, she is usually a small but since the sizing was very small she was looking for a medium. The girl that was there told her she should get a large even though they were obviously too long. I thought this was very rude and we will not be returning. read more

5 stars for Heidi! I go to bubble lounge to get my eyebrows waxed and absolutely LOVE the wax she uses and the way they turn out. This wax i'm pretty sure is from europe and is much less intrusive and painful than most other waxes. My skin never gets irritated after. Also, its the most amazing price ever- $15 for a wax, when most other places charge $20+ Bubble lounge also sells bare minerals powders and such cute clothes!! You can find bubble lounge down a hallway across the street from urban outfitters. you can also get to it coming from the back way adjacent to the MAH. Ive been to my fair share of beauticians in the Santa Cruz area (I've been here for about 5 years), and it doesnt get better than this :) read more

Stopped in here for makeup and nail polish after seeing their sign on Pacific Avenue. I've had some breakouts lately, and thought it was time to switch to Bare Minerals for better coverage and (hopefully) less breakouts. There were a couple people working, but Heidie was the one who helped me to figure out the makeup situation. I told her about my breakouts, etc. She asked me if I'd ever tried microdermabrasion. I told her I hadn't. She said she had time if I wanted to do a microderm session right then. So, I went for it. I figured; it costs the same (actually, a bit less) as a facial and the facials I'd been getting hadn't helped, so why not? She worked on me for about 15 minutes. It felt a bit longer because, I'll admit, microderm doesn't exactly tickle. It's like getting your face sandblasted. Ok, it's not "like" that, that's basically exactly what it IS. Did I mention I'm a big baby when it comes to pain? BUT....the end results are really impressive. By the next day (today), there's very little redness, my overall skin tone is more even and my blemishes have definitely gone down. So, I'd definitely recommend it. Oh, and she also applied makeup for me after so I didn't run out of there looking like a burn victim. Aside from the makeup and the treatment, I also picked up the MOST ADORABLE little bib for my friend's new baby. Ironically- it was made where I live- Santa Rosa. Small world! Only negative: they didn't have the OPI color I was looking for :( In the grand scheme of things- not a big deal, I know. read more

Hi Katie, Im very sorry if you feel my review was coached. It most certainly was not, and I was simply bored and getting multiple reviews done at once. Upon re-reading my comment I guess I could have been a little harsh, Heidi did a good thorough job as I mentioned before and there is nothing negative I can say regarding her skill or professionalism. The room is large and used for store storage as well as your services with no real partition between the two, true or false? It is not decorated in any sort of fashion to suggest a spa or relaxing environment and if you put so little effort into its presentation how can you expect people to walk away with the feeling you put care and detail into other aspects of your practice. Again, 2 stars is "meh Ive experienced better" and I have. Now I can appreciate that you are trying to save face as far as a less than glowing review which you seem to have attempted with all less than great reviews. However, since you are publicly choosing to respond I suppose that is your preferred mode of communication and I should use it as well. I think a private message would be far more appropriate, and certainly more well received. You are in the business of customer service, and Im sorry to say there are much better and more appropriate ways to handle dissatisfied customers. I am clearly not your first. Now Im going to go write a few reviews for restaurants I frequented in Hawaii. Hopefully you dont feel the need to message them as perhaps making multiple reviews in a day will cause them to be invalid. read more

I came here for my first Brazillian about 2 years ago. I wasn't sure to expect, and after all the waxes I've had I can say that this place is the best. Bubble Lounge doubles as a boutique and salon/spa. Its clean, trendy, and small. My estetician was very professional, easygoing, and friendly. I don't remember what we talked about, but our conversation was very pleasant. She used the blue wax, no strips which is less painful to sensitive areas. She got EVERYTHING! No double dipping or waxing the same area multiple times. Yes it was painful, but I did good. If I still lived in SC, I'd make my appointments here! Best place to get a bikini wax in Santa Cruz. I had pretty good experiences at Tonic and some good and not so good experiences at Farmacy but at Bubble, they don't mess around. The prices are affordable, they use the good wax and they have tons of cute things all over the store. I've been seeing Heidi for about 2 years now and I wouldn't see anyone else. She's timely, thorough and fun to chat with. If you're squeamish about going full Brazilian, you can start out with a clean standard bikini wax, but be warned, you may "go there" eventually. If you're thinking of trying this place for an intimate waxing or similar service, don't. No seriously, just don't. I've been a regular of such services at other establishments for 5 years now, this by far was the Worst Ever. Painful, way too fast, way too hot, no attention to detail, and they converted a walk-in closet into the spa room. Eek, never again. The shop gets 2 stars for having good designers like Joe's Jeans and Betsey Johnson, but ive been in a dozen times and spent hundreds, yet still the staff can be both wonderful one day and terribly cold and rude to me the next. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this store!!! Every time we come through Santa Cruz this place is a MUST stop. We found this place by accident a little over a year ago. It could be easy to miss even though it's on a main street for shopping SC because it's tucked in the back of some other stores. This place carries a ton of in style jeans, Ed Hardy clothes but also a lot of very cool retro (but new) clothing items. They have super cute purses, sun glasses, accessories, AND they have make up...seriously this store is every girls dream. They also offer waxing and skin services here too, along with skin care products by Jan Marini (and some other lines too). I'm not into the Ed Hardy clothing but other than that I love everything in this store. My Tres Noirs hand made sunglasses which I bought here receive a ton of compliments as does my Luxe de Ville purse I also purchased here. And I love that they carry some of the Tarina Tarantino jewelery items...their stuff rocks! The staff here is always super nice and a couple of the girls I have spoken to regarding the skin care lines really knew their stuff. The only down fall is that some of the prices can be very high, but that's because of the brands (Ed Hardy, True Religion, Betsey Johnson etc) but not all items in the store are such high ticket items which is a plus for budgets of all types! read more

Came here for a Brazilian wax and used the yelp deal. They also offer a discount for students. She uses a hard wax that is applied, set to dry, then she pulls it off. It hurts more than a normal wax with strips. It also takes longer than a normal wax. It didn't really hurt until she gets to the inner of the outer lips. She pulls sooo slow. I wish she would've asked me some more questions during that part so my mind would've been elsewhere. We did chit chat throughout the whole thing though. Money wise it's cheaper than most waxes so that's a plus. ADVICE: They need a full length mirror in there so you can check out the end result. And they need more privacy for the door. I was half naked and she just opened it wide and walked out. If any customer was around they would've seen me. Kinda strange. Sooo maybe put the room divider they have in the room on the outside of the door. Overall it was an okay experience I might go back for the price. But I'll probably try out some other yelp/group on deals. read more

This store is so cute. The next time I come back to Santa Cruz I would definitely come back to shop here. The boutique is filled with cute clothes, jewelry, and a make up bar. Right when I walked in I could feel that this store was filled with life. When I entered I was helped right away and found two Bare Minerals lipsticks and even got a 10% discount for checking in on Yelp. They offer brands such as Betsey Johnson, Bare Essentials, OPI, Juicy Couture, Joe's, and much more. They have really cute Juicy Couture jewelry and other jewelry as well. I came here twice for a Brazilian wax, once with a yelp coupon and another without. And as you ladies may know that is a very sensitive area so the first I went I was so nervous I hardly noticed Heidi kept dipping the same stick into the wax, but. I thought that was normal. She told me the wax burns off the bacteria which is why I went back. But after careful review and research. I found out if the wax was hot enough to burn the bacteria, it would burn right through my skin!!!!! The second time I went Heidi spread wax in a sensitive area and the wax bunched up like when one has sticky gum in their hair. She was able to remove most of it but there was an index size patch that she literally yanked off, it was the most painful experience I have ever had I really felt like kicking from how bad it hurt. Heidi dips the same stick into the wax the entire process, painful, do not come here!!!! read more

I was making piggy eyes at the gelato place when I spotted this place. I thought it was a spa but it turned out to be this little boutique / makeup shop. I didn't take that good of a look around - I did see a selection of Cargo makeup, and some nice brands. I found a pair of Antik jeans for $114 (from $190!) on the sale rack. Bonuses: the fitting room curtain was zebra print, the girl working was awesome, and I got a totally cute pink stripey shopping bag, with hot pink tissue paper and all. =) read more

I had no idea they did waxes here for a while... Now this is the only place I get waxed at! Heidi is very professional and does an amazing job, you are not another customer to her and I love how she remembers me and actually treats me so kindly. It is so easy making an appointment with her even if it is last minute. I'd also like to mention they also have the best price in town for Brazilians. I'm in love with Bubble Lounge. I live in DC but my company places me in Santa Cruz periodically for weeks at a time, which can be problematic when last-minute travel and no return ticket often means I wind up having to buy clothes, makeup, etc. while I'm here... and it seems like I can never find what I need, or I'll have to drive an hour to find a mall to get it. Enter Bubble Lounge, which I found by accident because it's right smack downtown near my office, and I was just attracted to its unique look as I walked past. Inside the store the displays are cute, nicely kept, reasonably priced ... and... Bubble Lounge sells Stop Staring dresses. I thought I could only get that online or in LA. They sell other cute clothes, too, but that was a "wow!" factor for me. They sell Bare Escentuals makeup, among others, and a good supply of other beauty products... the salon service menu looks awesome and the prices are good, I am definitely going to test that out. The two staffers I encountered in the store were very pleasant and professional. I wish I had caught their names. A very sweet (and very tan -- jealous) brunette helped me with my cosmetics purchase. She was quite knowledgeable about the products and seemed to genuinely want to help me find something that I would be happy with -- not just make a sale -- and she wasn't pushy at all. That made me want to spend more money, but I digress. I just tested the products I bought today and I am HAPPY. It's great to encounter a salesperson that knows their stuff and cares about whether or not you wind up where you want to be. The redhead who started her shift as I was checking out was also very friendly even though she wasn't cashing me out herself. The overall atmosphere of this boutique is laid back and comfortable while still offering the right type of chic. Love. I was mostly interested in writing this review because the service I received was amazing. The worker, I believe her name was Alexandra, did my makeup and I would recommend this place to others because I was highly satisfied with her service. I wish there was a 6th star!!! I have never wrote that before, take note. I just aimlessly strolled in here during my stay in SC and boy was I surprised!! Out in SF where I mostly roll, there is a Bubble Lounge but it is a champagne bar!! This is definitely not so...BUT they have cute clothes, jewelry, makeup, fragrance, lingerie, baubles... y'know stuff like that!! And at great prices!!! A lot of the brands are friendly to your tattoo girls (Lucky 13, Ed Hardy, Betsey) and typically the broads working at these kinds of places have snobby sticks up their asses.. why? i have no idea... but these girls were hella nice!! I almost wanted to stay in the store and chit chat a bit more!! One gal put lashes on me for FREE!! Hella sweet!! I bought the lashes and she was quick and efficient! She knew her stuff about makeup, too. I wish I lived closer.. or that might be bad cause I would be spending money all the time!! not good!! I ended up buying a Betsey bag that was 30% off (sweet), a cute card with a pic of a French Bulldog (rad) and I think that might be it.. I wanted a lot more, though!! Check this place out!!
