Amazing selection, welcoming and informative staff. There's something special here for everyone on your list. They offer a variety of beautiful clothing, footwear, accessories and neat items you won't find anywhere else. I came in looking to purchase a jacket for myself and left with items for my sister, niece and a coworker. Reasonable prices, for unique items I wouldn't have found elsewhere. This is a fun place to drive by and check out their window display. In fact, I need to be careful that I don't go too slow and have somebody hit my car while checking out their pretty stuff in their window. So, I decided to go inside and check out what they have these days. There's a lot of eye candy in their shop. Besides new items, they also have gently used. What they have to offer doesn't look like it comes from a box store.  They have clothing for men and women. There's a nice selection of cowboy and cowgirl boots. The store has a southwestern feel to it. Besides clothing, they have bolos and earrings too. I love their soft, fringed leather bags.  I talked with the owner, who was very friendly. She has had the store for over a decade. There is parking on the street. read more

Really cute store. I love rings and they had an awesome selection! I bought a ring that I'm absolutely in love with and almost took home another one but stopped myself (unfortunately, I'm not made of money). They even had those cute rings made with vintage spoons. Friendly staff. Just a heads up -- I came here at 11am (Wednesday) and waited about ten minutes but no one came. Ended up coming back later. So if you're planning your day around your visit, know that their hours can fluctuate slightly. Street parking. FYI: They have another location in Felton although it's smaller. read more

Really cute shop with tons of cool things for sale, however, the employee there was unpleasant. I got past not being greeted but tons of other white customers walked in and they were greeted with a warm welcome. I tried to buy a pair of sunglasses but the lady at the register continued her conversation for a while and I just simply had no time to be unacknowledged, so I just left. Also nobody wore masks in there. I highly recommend skipping this store if you are a person of color. read more

Not only do they have an incredible selection of vintage western, Americana, Baja and locally made items; Tomboy exudes hip friendliness and I always feel right at home, in fact it is often difficult to leave! I approach these lovely ladies this year and asked if they would consider decorating my wedding and reception venue with their incredible items and keen design sense. I could not be happier with the outcome of hiring them to make our venue beautiful! There hasn't been a vintage rental group near Santa Cruz, and Summer and Debbie made my dreams come true. SUCH an unpleasant experience. I had been looking fwd to checking out this shop since arriving in Santa Cruz last week. Came in, was not greeted or acknowledged. The woman working there watched me pick up a white silk piece and immediately came over to let me know that it was dragging on the floor?? When I walked out of the fitting room, the store was full of other customers. I had not heard her once say anything friendly to anyone, and she walked straight past me to clear the room, again without acknowledging me or saying anything. A terrible vibe, NOT the place to go if you are a stylist or in the industry and looking to have a inspiring experience. Much better vintage around Abbott Square anyway. read more

What a Gem!!! We were passing through Santa Cruz and I found Tomboy through yelp. If you're in to all things vintage (in a cool way), cowboy, leather, Americana, and just all around a visually inspiring space. Go to Tomboy! I never got the name of the rad chick that was working but I swear if I lived in that town we'd become besties. Welcoming, helpful, fun to chat with and most importantly represents the store and business perfectly with her knowledge of everything associated with the store. This place has great reviews and the only time I went in there, it was cool. Lots of cool stuff, really. Because the reviews are all great I kinda feel like ..I don't know he right word; I found a pair of boots there I liked. Ive never owned coyboy boots and these were for a wedding I was going to. They charged about 80$ for them. I didn't know anything about these boots and that's on me for being ignorant, I suppose.. but after feeling like they were a smidge too small I decided to sell them. It turned out they aren't worth any more than 35$ pretty much anywhere (but Tomboy, I guess.) So everything else seemed cool but I feel a bit swindled paying 80$ for boots not worth half of that. read more

This is my go to spot! Whether I need something to wear for an event, a gift, or just a cute new tee, this is the place! They have a wonderful selection of vintage in all sizes (not just itty bitty). And the boots!! Oh my goodness, the boot selection is beyond words. They have beautiful locally made jewelry, and their perfume is one of my favs. I realized recently that if I'm searching for something specific, no matter what, I always go to Tomboy first because they will for sure have it. Why waste my time anywhere else? Also, they have a new location in Felton, which is pretty darn amazing as well. 100 stars for Tomboy! You're the best and my favorite. read more

This place is worth a visit! Tons of cowboy boots, new and slightly used, along with boot bling, like decorative cuffs and leather straps. Very cool clothing, especially if you like a funky vintage and/or western look. Lots of cool T-shirts with references to 60's and 70's songs. I just got a "Midnight Toker" t-shirt - great for Steve Miller fan like me. I also got some boots and cuffs that are so striking people stop me in the street to ask where I got them. wtf? i was reluctant to write this review becuase i didn't want more people to find out about tomboy :) this plays looks expensive from the outside so i always walked right by it. one day i went in, and it is sooo inexpensive for really great stuff. i think it;s used clothes, but to be honest everything is in such good condition it's hard to tell. the lady at the front desk told me that they get new stuff almost every day so i will definitely keep coming back. read more

What fabulous shop! The first time I saw Tomboy, I was coming out of a show at the Rio. I had my nose pressed up against the window, wishing with all my heart that they were open at 1:00 a.m.! Had the opportunity to visit a few days later. They have successfully packed a huge variety of amazing stuff into a relatively small space. And yet, it doesn't feel cramped, it feels cozy. Part of that is because of the ingenious and artful way the goods are displayed. Just to name a few items, they have on hand: beautiful belts and kick-as cowboy boots, luxurious scarves and sumptuous sweaters, sexy little sundresses and one-of-a-kind necklaces and bracelets. What did I walk out with that January day? A long sleeved, butter yellow cashmere sweater, priced ridiculously low. I'll be back again soon. read more

What a find! It's listed under vintage but it looked all cowboy until I pawed through the racks. Great collection of vintage dresses. And more boots than, well you can shake a boot at! Was hoping for vintage hankies but no luck. Some cool bandanas, though. Check out the colorful tote bags. Saleswoman was super friendly and helpful. Again, that Santa Cruz parking issue. I absolutely LOVE this shop! I've always gone in and bought some cute smaller items for gifts or myself (can't resist!) So I knew this was the best place to go to accessorize my wedding dress, just 5 days before the big day. Summer, a fellow mountain girl, helped me and she was amazing!! I told her I wanted to leather belt it and get some jewelry too. She not only did she pick out a super cute belt, but also took the time to help me punch new holes in it and re-link the leather pieces together, so it fit better. And I also got a super pretty yellow gold, long crystal necklace. I just love everything about Tomboy, from their merchandise to the friendly smiles you are greeted with from every employee there. Love what they have in the store, but had to knock off a couple stars because they don't have a return policy. Or, their return policy is no returns or exchanges or store credit, period. They do have it posted by the register, but I received a gift that I was hoping to exchange for something else and was told I was outta luck. Too bad, otherwise cute stuff! read more
