I did not experience the level of horrible customer service that Yelpers complained about at this location. I bought a fun scarf - kind of like a cheap knock off of the striped Missoni-style scarves. This is the capitola edition of the carmel bay company, located just a block off the beach…read more Parking is street only which sometimes (weekdays in the winter) possible at other times (weekends, the entire summer/tourist season) the rarest commodity on earth. There is a surface lot a block (off of Monterey) away that has all the same problems as the street parking. Generally speaking I like the odds that the lot behind the police station offers, but in peak tourist season you'd best plan ahead for parking. This is a medium ish sized store very typical in layout for the shops that line this block close to the beach. The entrance faces the street, and the stock is laid out through the store with the cashier at the back. It will seem narrow but isn't really. The stock falls into mid range giftables. It's not a super expensive spot where you can blow 500 dollars on a purse but is the kind of spot where you can pick up a decent clutch for 40 bucks or so. Most of the items fall into the home décor category with a mild beach theme. There are inspirational books, wine accessories, all sorts of beach gear, light clothing, candles, leather craft goods, cups, and yes magnets because of course there are. Overall it's a reliable source of better quality gifts then you'll find elsewhere on the esplanade, the kind of things that won't embarrass you when you get home.

Becks Shoes 4105 Portola Drive Santa Cruz. The new location is great and accessible from 41st avenue and is in the corner of 41 st Ave and Portola Drive. There is parking in the back and the front of the store is off of Portola Drive. Addison the sales clerk is very knowledgeable and very easy to work with. Not a pushy salesman! He provided his knowledge and patience and helped me select the appropriate superfeet orthotics for my feet to give me comfort and stability to my tennis shoes! He also suggested a certain type of tennis shoe that can provide stability for pronation and supination. He did not push me in buying these new stability tennis shoes. But he actually found some good superfeet insoles for my condition and and stability and comfort for my existing tennis shoes. In the future I will look into buying new tennis shoes that he recommended that I can fit my new superfeet orthotics and provide more stability and comfort! This mall has so much potential…read more I felt kind of sad walking through seeing how many empty stores were around and how many stores look like they're holding on by thread If this was my town, I would definitely want to pull community together to get it going. We walked in here to find food. Unfortunately, the food court only had five different places only two to choose from for food. Unfortunately, the Ramen place was a no go for us. The Taqueria Gabrielle was super good and they do a great job at how much food they put together in their food and prices are well meaning french fries meat, etc. The service was really great at the Taqueria Gabriel they do have a coffee shop here called the daily grind coffee I have to say my favorite place to see here was the bookstore. If you love books definitely drop by. It is huge. It is so nice. You could get lost in there. I really hope the community comes together and makes this place a great place that it can be for all the teenagers and young parents to come and bring their kids and go shopping . Don't forget to check out the thrift store if you're around as well ! Lots of parking and they have tons of bus stops so you're able to come with public transportation and or have plenty of places to park
