It took 3 stylists just to hook the dress together before it could be zipped up. I had not gained any weight since ordering, and the dress felt like it had been ordered a size too small. The stylist who was helping me put on the dress kept reassuring me that the gown had a hard corset, and because it was strapless, it was meant to fit that tightly. Well before my actual wedding, I had my courthouse ceremony... I needed a lot of help to get the dress hooked on, and when it came time to drive to the courthouse, I couldn't even sit up. I had to lean the car seat all the way back in order to make it to the courthouse. The entire afternoon I was so uncomfortable that I didn't even want to drink water. After that experience, I brought my dress to Marina at Le Caprice. She took one look at my back and didn't even bother zipping me up. She assured me that my dress was too small, that it was not just in my head, and offered to remove the zipper and replace it with a corset back! I was nervous because I really loved the top part of my dress and how snatched it made my waist look, but when I received my dress it still looked just as perfect! Not only that, but I was completely comfortable in it when I was sitting and eating at my reception (: Marina was able to complete the alterations super fast at a fair price and I think the corset was elegantly executed. I'm worried it will be my last one too. Update: they called to explain that they have a had directed my order to the "Clean & Iron" department (includes dry cleaning) instead of "Wash & Fold" because it had dresses, (cotton) sweater and blouses. Thankfully, they refunded part of the extra charges, and gave me a Purple Tie credit for the remaining extra charge (worth 15lb of laundry.) They also added notes on their end to make sure any future orders go through wash & dry by default. I'm satisfied with their follow up and customer service (although I would have preferred full refund to credit card)

Let me preface this by saying a few things. First, I'm a bit of a menswear nut. I know more about the different types of construction on the lining of a suit coat than I care to admit. Second, I work in an industry where I have to wear a suit and tie most days. Third, I find it extremely difficult to find things that fit, as I have a very slim build. All that being said, Roberto Castelli, the namesake of Castelli Fashions, has managed to far exceed my expectations. I went and visited Roberto shortly after he opened his Santa Cruz shop last year--he previously had a similar store in San Jose. I was looking for a suit, but had effectively consigned myself at that point to having to buy made-to-measure or go with a cheap option and tailor it, as everything I'd tried so far was too expensive or didn't come anywhere close to fitting. Within thirty seconds of my walking in and beginning to talk to him about purchasing a suit, he had offered me coffee, tea, wine, or moscato, enthusiastically engaged me in a conversation about European soccer, determined my size by eye alone, and pulled a jacket off its hanger for me. It fit perfectly in the shoulders, something I almost never experience. I couldn't purchase anything from him at the time, unfortunately. When I walked back in with an eye towards purchasing a couple months later, he remembered both my name and size, offered me something to drink, and started pulling suits down. The suits Roberto offers range from the quality you'd find at Macy's for far, far less than what Macy's charges up to what I purchased--Super 150's wool, which almost feels like cashmere and is known for being incredibly durable and breathable. These will normally run around $2000, but Roberto sells them for significantly less than $1000. I was only going to purchase one at the time. When I expressed disappointment that's all I could afford, Roberto made me a deal which allowed me to purchase two for less than I would normally pay for one at retail. Oh, and he threw two ties in to boot. He did the (considerable) alterations I requested free of charge, and marked and pinned the jacket himself. In the end, I effectively got two made-to-measure suits. I recently returned to purchase another one. They fit as well as I could have possibly hoped, are exceptionally high quality, and come with absolutely superb customer service. I recently went back to get another one. In short, if you want friendly, knowledgeable, high-quality service for men's formalwear of any sort and want to get an absolute steal of a deal, Castelli Fashions should be where you go. read more

Just recently I needed to purchase a suit for my daughter's Quinceanera. I don't usually wear suits and it's probably been 22 years since I'd last worn one so I didn't know anything about what I needed. My fiance and I went shopping at a local shop and we decided to check out Castelli Fashions and were certainly glad we did. The owner Roberto was just amazing. He was kind, pleasant, enjoys people and knows his stuff. Roberto took my measurements, suggested some different styles and colors and really took his time to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. He also was very generous offering my fiance, my daughter and me sparkling water and some Italian goodies. When I went to pick up my suit Roberto had me try it on and it fit perfectly! Every part of it was fit exactly to my body and looked amazing. He even pressed my shirt while I waited. At the party I received so many compliments on my suit. I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for a great suit. You really couldn't ask for a better owner who's knowledgeable, gets the measurements right the first time, offers free alterations if needed (although I didn't), is always happy to see you, is competitively priced and really goes the extra mile for his customers. read more

Felt compelled to write a review because of the superb service and great experience I had buying a suit. I've never bought a suit and was intimidated by the prices I had seen at. Various stores until I stumbled upon Castellis from a small sign off of 41st ave. I walked in and he offered me espresso and was very friendly. He started educating me on suit design and quality and I told him what I needed it for and he fitted me the perfect suit and shoes all for $300! Roberto is a prince. Quick, efficient and precise with alterations. He has a sense of style with suits and fabrics. The small store has a limited selection of materials and samples on hand but he can order from a much broader array. Go talk with this guy. He's an old school tailor specializing in personalized service at reasonable prices. We went to Castelli Fashion's to help shop for Tuxedo's for a good friend of mine who's son was getting married. Roberto was so kind and friendly. He made us a cappuccino and he took great care of us. We feel as though Castelli Fashions was much higher quality than Men's Wearhouse and for a better price. I am very tall and curvy so finding a formal dress that complemented my figure and felt comfortable was very difficult. Jill designed the perfect custom dress for me and I've been hooked ever since. That first experience was three years ago and I had been making regulars treks to Jill's design studio to check out her new lines and to visit with Jill and the wonderful staff. I was thrilled when Jill opened her retail store in Scotts Valley! The store beautifully displays Jill's fashions and, because Jill's new design studio is in the back of the store, I still get to see Jill on my shopping visits. If you have a curvy figure and you live anywhere in the Santa Cruz Bay Area, stop in for a visit to Jill's store. Even if you don't live in the immediate area, it's worth the drive!

The clothes are bright and colorful. They also carry a large selection of jewelry! The next time I"m in town I will be back!
