Came in recently after taking my dogs for a long walk. I wasn't dressed up and didn't have makeup on however I DID have money to spend. Barely was said hello to, was looked up and down, asked multiple times if they could 'help me find something' and told that if I 'touched the readers bring them up front so we can sanitize them'. It wasn't said politely and they weren't asking if I needed help to be kind, it was clear they wanted to get me out of there. I felt extremely uncomfortable. I understand FEELING like, to you, you have something special and you want the shop to be elite but treating your customers like they aren't good enough to shop at your business is ABSURD! I bought a few items that I went in for specifically and vowed to never go back. I had been in a week before and was dressed well before going out to dinner with some friends and was treated 100% differently. They are profiling and the jig is up! They have an amazing selection of women's clothing. The jewelry is also beautiful. I seriously want to buy everything here! The quality of the items are good, however, the prices are very high. The clothes range in price from around $80 to $200. You can occasionally score good deals from their sales racks where they have items for 50% off. My wife shopped at this store for many many years because it has nice quality unique items, and very comfortable clothes and gifts. This was always a store she went to to shop for Christmas and birthday gifts. She spent thousands here over the years. Last year one of the gifts she bought was a sweater for her step-mom which was something like $200, but it turned out was too small when her step-mom tried it on at Christmas. So my wife brought it back to the store to exchange for a larger size in January - however when she brought it back with tags in tact, the clerk said that it was too wrinkled and worn to take it back and said that someone had clearly worn it. My wife didn't know what to say or how to respond, she explained that the sweater had never been worn only tried on at Christmas, and she just wanted a larger size not a refund, but the clerk said that she couldn't re-sell it now and refused to exchange it. I saw the sweater and that was BS, it was brand new, just wrinkled from being in a gift box. But the store clerk didn't just refuse to exchange the new sweater which she absolutely should have done, she made a point to make a scene accusing my wife of trying to return a used item in front of other customers. My wife was so embarrassed. She came home upset and crying, not because she wasn't able to exchange the sweater, but because she'd been humiliated in front of other customers. She said she was just shocked and just didn't know how to respond to the store clerk. Shame on that employee. While we would never shop at this store again after that experience - I might chalk this up to a one time inexcusable experience and just never shop there again - HOWEVER - a few years earlier, my wife had bought several stenciled pillows at Warmth Company, for our home. When she brought them home we noticed that one of the pillows the ink stencil was kind of smeared, so I suggested she bring it back to exchange it for another - so she did, however the store clerk told her that it must have happened after she had taken the pillows out of the store and they refused to exchange it. At that time, we thought - that's a pretty strange response to a long time good customer - but accepted it and I never thought about it again, until she came home upset and embarrassed from trying to exchange a brand new sweater for a larger size. No one should feel upset or embarrassed by a store clerk while shopping. My wife probably bought a hundred things at this store over the years, and we brought numbers of friends and relatives there and only twice tried to exchange items, which were new - and BOTH TIMES she was mistreated and embarrassed. Shame on Warmth Company. Neither we nor any of our friends or family will ever shop at this store again. I hope the owners/managers take stock in the way they treat customers and change the way they do business. read more

Drove up from Monterey to purchase new bedding. I was completely ignored while I was trying to figure out what I wanted. I walked around the store and still nothing, not a hi, hello or asking if I needed help. I will not be back and it was a complete waste of a trip. Over heard one of the women say she was an owner and that she and her twin own the store together. So clearly they don't care and it's not wonder this store is rated so poorly online. Store is absolutely beautiful. I can see the talent for merchandising there and I love looking around. Unfortunately this is not the first time I've come in and not one person has even said hello or can I help you or how are you doing? Do you need anything any of the typical things that you should greet customers with . I was there for probably 20 minutes and there were at least 3 ladies working and it was not busy and no acknowledgment. One lady smiled at me but never said a word. The few times I have been there it is always the same. The staff is rude and does not greet or offer help. They stare you up and down like snobs. I guess they judge you on how you look as to whether you have enough money to shop there. I would not patronize a local store that treats locals like that. Wow, I'm honestly shocked by some of the bad reviews. I went here today and had a 5star experience all around. Covid protocols allowed only 5 people in the store at a time, so I did wait in line, but I so appreciated the fact that I could shop around without other customers breathing on me. This was a "breath" of fresh air after visiting outside-in, where they were packing people in like sardines and didn't confront a customer or an EMPLOYEE who weren't wearing their masks. I LOVED the fact that the employees at the Warmth Company are non-intrusive. They leave you alone and don't try to give you a sales pitch, but they are right there to answer any and all questions-- which they did plenty of times for me. Everyone was in a cheery spirit, the entire shop looked impeccably clean, and they had a little bit of everything I needed (and then some). Ps they sell Johnny Was masks individually! Unphased by the pressures COVID has put on many small businesses, Warmth Company doesn't care much for customers. Apparently they close at 5 now, not 5:30 during the holidays. Wouldn't want to let a little thing like customers get in the way of closing early. I arrived 8 minutes before 5 only to have the manager or owner rush over and swoop up the welcome mat as I was about to walk in. I said, "do you mind if I look around real quick?". She said, "do you know what you want? If not, come back tomorrow, my staff has not had a break today." Her staff was sitting there drinking champagne and taking selfies. I used to love and adore this store. I looked forward to strolling through it Starbucks in hand while my daughter was in therapy. A little bit of me time each week. The last couple times I have gone have been horrible. The energy is snootie and the altitude is rather high if you know what I mean. This is my favorite place to shop for furniture, gifts, and accessories in Santa Cruz County ~ actually in the entire Bay Area! The two sisters who own it go above and beyond to be helpful. For example, I had a big over-size sofa from Cisco that was probably 18 years old and it needed new seat cushions. Cisco is a line that Warmth Company carries, so I asked if they could just order the seat cushions. Although that style had been discontinued, they were able to get me CUSTOM seat cushions, two of them, for $100, when they could have soaked me for much more!! I was amazed at their customer service. I'd been a customer for years, but this really sealed it for me. The two sisters are practically twins (hard to tell them apart) and both are very nice, as is the staff. I've bought many, many items here over the years, and highly recommend the store. Today was the first time my family had been to Aptos. We randomly ran into this store after getting Starbucks. May be I am used to the touristy pricing in the Carmel Village, I thought this place has very unique stuff at a reasonable price. The staff was friendly. They offered small talks but gave us space to browse around. My husband was pushing a stroller and the staff gave him no problem. When I went home, I looked this place up on Yelp and saw that many reviewers commented on the owners. I am not sure if I would have stopped by if I read the reviews first. I purchased 2 boxwood topiary's from Warmth. They are very nice. For the most part I feel the items are over priced. Another suggestion for Naomi and Monica is to make sure they say hello to all patrons/customers who visit their store. I feel they can do better with their customer service. My very pregnant daughter and I stumbled onto this amazing store this week. We have been in terrific stores all across the country and now Warmth is at the top of our list. Go out of your way to check it out. They have lovely things for sale at reasonable prices. Some things are very unusual like the driftwood signs and beautiful note pads. We arrived early for an event and decided to wander around for a bit. Wandered in Warmth Company and were immediately greeted. I picked up a couple of items and mentioned that they were going to be prizes for a baby shower and noted that we were going to have to watch the time so we wouldn't be late for our event (there is so much to look at). One of the gals asked if I would like the items to be gift wrapped. When I said yes, she suggested that she could take them right then and wrap them as we continue to look around.
