Odd place with an odd name. It's like you stepped back in time like back to when soda pop shops and the town was first opening. It is only cash so make sure to have that handy. Items are limited as they do run out. The steak for example was out. The food was good like homestyle cooking. I would definitely go back because of the prices it was decently cheap for a group of 7 ppl our bill was like $80 with tip definitely left satisfied and ready to hit the road to go back home. The waitress was nice and staff were also nice they did refill and attend the table as needed. Would this place benefit from a bit of an upgrade yes but it might change the feel and nostalgia of the people who go here time to time. Definitely felt like a local spot how you have a McDonald and a Biscuitville down the block. Will make this a place to stop at when I go back to visit family. read more

Girlfriend wanted breakfast, and not many choices available after 2pm in our little town. She was disappointed they don't have the good old hash browns we're used to (shredded and fried to a golden crisp), but settled for their regular breakfast potatoes and an omelet. I had already had a small breakfast, but still felt like a biscuit and gravy to start the meal. I then had one of the daily specials, a deep-fried crab stuffing concoction (I forget the name), with two sides, mashed potatoes and green beans. I didn't get much crab flavor, but otherwise it was tasty. Similar with the biscuit and gravy; biscuit was good, gravy was okay (nothing like Bob Evans'). Sides were okay, also. I know there are very few places to eat breakfast in Reidsville on a Sunday morning after church. But it's better to stay home. This is the most unsanitary restaurant that I've ever seen! The floors are disgusting, the booths are in disrepair and dirty. The ceiling is caved in --it appears due to a massive roof leak (we saw buckets on the floor to catch water). The servers are cordial, yes--but ours wore a filthy apron! It's in dire need of massive cleaning--and a remodel. Just so filthy! read more

My fam has been going here for years, but somehow, I realized I have never reviewed it Let's remedy that, shall we? First of all, let me say that there is no reason whatsoever for this place to have only 3 1/2 If you like country cooking at extremely reasonable prices, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. When we lived in Reidsville, we visited often and I'm 100% sure I've tasted everything. In my humble opinion, it's all delish! As soon as you enter you are thrust back in time with the decor. There is wall art, trinkets, and antiques from decades ago but it is all tastefully arranged. The place is always packed with good folks hungry for country cooking. It has always been clean, and the staff is super friendly, stopping to chat like you are old friends. Enough cannot be said about the food . There are no words to describe how delicious it is. It's just one of those things that you don't know how to describe it, until you try it. If you have a free Saturday morning, run on up to Reidsville and try this café. If you are looking for greasy food however they feel like serving it that day, a very dirty restaurant, cheap items like napkins, torn up table cloths, torn up booth seats, and sub par service...then this is the place for you! We saw one server humping and friendly, two just walking around with frowns on their faces, and ours, well she was a special one. Sweet but not all there. Tried this place again since we have had hit and miss visits here. Still disappointed as it could be so much more. Maybe one day. read more

This is the worst place that I ever eaten at I order bake pork chops and upon eating them discovered that the meat was spoil informed the waiter and she took them back into the kitchen and the cook came out which I learned later were also the owner. She begin to argue with me right in my face and in front of her other guests stating nothing were wrong with the meat and that she had just open that box I told her then you need to check your meat cause it's spoiled. She continue to make a scene out of herself and I informed her that I'm not going to argue with her. We sit there waiting and waiting for the bill for what the other person had and to no avail did we receive a bill so we got up and went to the cashier and was informed that the ticket had been thrown into the trash. LOVED our breakfast here. My fiance was hesitant because the name of the establishment had the word (Sanitary) in it lol you'll see his face in the picture. The country ham was divine. Stopped here with my little sidekick for lunch, recently. He ordered a cheeseburger with just mustard & ketchup with fries and I ordered the fish sandwich. My fish sandwich was ok, the fish wasn't seasoned at all, but was cooked perfect topped with tartar sauce, nothing spectacular. My sidekick enjoyed his burger, but the fries weren't seasoned at all and I had a couple myself and they didn't seem to be cooked quite long enough, they were still not cooked in the middle. Alot of folks say the breakfast here is great, maybe we'll check that out at some point. read more

I used to love the Sanitary Cafe. Especially the breakfast. Decided to go there as the first indoor dining experience in over a year. What a mistake. Saw no precautions - none. Not even sanitizer. Tables being wiped down the old fashioned way. No one that worked there was wearing a mask. But we decided to stay as we were already there and are vaccinated. Mistake. After we placed our order noticed the floors were dirty. Not sure what happened there in the past year but the breakfast was awful. The milk was warm. And our waitress actually said the cooler has been going on and off. What??!!. Eggs and hash browns ok. French toast not. Makes me sad to say we will not be going back there read more

The Sanitary Cafe is one of the most unsanitary restaurants in Reidsville. I feel dirty walking into the place and worse leaving. There is nothing on the menu for vegetarians or vegans. Every side is cooked with meat or grease. There is even a greasy film on their plates. I have not been back since noticing the "C" Sanitary Grade hidden among the rest of the clutter on the walls. I go just about every week for breakfast with a group of people I know. The food is always good, and service is quick. The grits are not runny, the sausage gravy and biscuits are always perfect, bacon is served as requested, you can get crispy bacon or not crispy, just ask. I have done lunch there also and have not been disappointed. I had a chef's salad that would have served a small army and was fresh, my wife had a cheeseburger and fries. The nice thing is nothing was overly seasoned. Some don't like that but my wife has problems with anything with pepper and the fact that you season to taste makes this one of her favorite places to eat. This is definitely one of our go to places in town. We are in there a couple times a week for supper and are never disappointed. The staff is incredible and the food is always good. Rossville NC resident . I will not be eating there anymore. I did always enjoy their meatloaf, but at times they was Skippy on the meat . They say look at order before you leave. Well the small space prevents that , there want to gather take care of the customers leaving. Been there a lot of times to take out then get home it's not what you ask for or paid for . I have explained my experience, they offered nothing. So , this is my last time . Farmers table is less expensive and always satisfied. And very full too. Lived here all my life & this restaurant has always been the same; NOT sanitary. In fact, down right nasty. The food isn't good either. Taste like it's out of a can. When I left, which was after church service, I smelt like a grease monkey. I had to go home and take another shower. I went to the restroom before leaving and it smelled awful & was nasty also. A monthly regular, family is always eating there. Good food from kitchen. Salads sometimes are too watery. Prefer the back room as the main part is too noisy and you can't hear your companions talk. Never disappointed when I eat at Sanitary! The food is always hot and fresh! I have never had anything from here that wasn't just delightful! They have a huge menu with something for everyone! Highly recommend the Sirloin Tips! The Spaghetti is always very good!! Country meats and vegetables everyday with a large variety. Breakfast is always very good as well! Very crowded and had a short wait while tables were put together for our party of 7.the food was delicious. I ordered fried flounder, shrimp, hush puppies, and a baked potato. The fish was tasty and the portion of shrimp was large. The baked potato was very soft, as if it had been boiled and then baked -- too soft for me to finish, and the hush puppies were good. Please don't waste your time or money here....only gave one star because I couldn't give less....Terrible food, only thing edible this morning was scrambled eggs! Tenderloin too tough to chew, sausage burnt to a crisp, biscuits had something weird and burnt on top. We asked for edible meat and they brought out more of the same and said they would have to cook more....duh...then told the cashier we would be stopping somewhere else for breakfast because we were still hungry, and I think they charged us more! $16 for two scrambled eggs, toast and coffee is a little much for our taste. The smell of burnt food should have made us go elsewhere to start with. Even walked by a group in the parking lot discussing where they would go since they had terrible meals too...
