I stopped by Summit Cafe today for the first time. I was met with friendly service and my order was taken swiftly. I was taken back by the menu not having prices listed. I ordered the vegetable omelette with home fries and toast. Came out to about 13 bucks. A little pricey for a vegetable omelette with only onions, peppers, and tomatoes. The omelette itself was okay at best. Way too many tomatoes. They were a big filler ingredient and overall the omelette lacked seasoning and flavor. The home fries were much of the same. The food was hot and fresh. It came quickly. Overall it just lacked seasoning. I would likely come back to try more things on the menu. I want to like the place but today wasn't the best first impression. Again re-emphasizing service was great, food was hot, and the atmosphere was comfortable. This place is a very small establishment on summit. Everything is cooked on the spot. The food was delicious. The people who owned it was very pleasant and helpful. Every Friday from 10am to 11am they give away delicious food. Omg the sell koolaid I was so excited! . I got fried whitening and fried shrimp salad. When I tell you it was hot and fresh out of the pan . If you're driving by you wouldn't even notice the place so drive slow. If you pass compare foods you passed it ‍. Don't make that mistake. I came in on the back end of the day and experienced nothing but pleasant, smiling faces and great conversations. I ordered the Specialty Breakfast Combo with grits & home fried potatoes with the fried whiting. Everything was hot and fresh. I could only eat half of my meal and took the other half to-go. The service was by far the best part of my visit here and the main reason I would return. Secondary is the "at home feeling" I get from parking to leaving this restaurant. I must brag on the service for a moment. I did not get her name but the woman that helped me was soft spoken and patient, and had the kindest eyes I've seen in quite sometime. It was my first time there. Within 5 seconds of walking in the door she was in front of me with a menu and telling me to have a seat and ask her any questions I may have. I looked at the menu for a good length of time because everything looked so good. Okay finally I ordered: it was going to take 15 mins so I told her I'd be back in but would wait outside in my car for a few mins. Not even 10 mins later she was at my car window with my food. This sweet woman brought my food to my car. Okay so now about the food. The Salmon Patties were good. Seasoned well and the appropriate amount of crunch in the outside coupled with the softness of the patty on the inside felt familiar like home. The rest of the food lacked seasoning. Disappointed that they only had sweet drinks (not even unsweetened tea) as an alternative. The pictures show entrees on colorful plates but they only used styrofoam and plasticware while I was there. The cook regularly cleaned when he wasn't cooking, including scraping the flat top. My only concern was I think it should be sanitized to remove pork or poultry residue, before placing seafood items. A simple wipe down wasn't sufficient in my opinion. The waitress picks up little empty packets while you eat. That's annoying for me because she's reaching over my food when she does that. Even though the wait staff was pleasant, here were some of the issues: Chicken and fish was rather greasy, Limited food selections although the menu offered multiple choices, had to request new silverware and cups due to unclean items. In this place you will find tables that are so close together that you are sure to meet a new friend, you will also notice that they maybe old in structure but to me it just add charm to the place.
