I can't believe how close this place is to my house, and I am so excited about that. I did have a little bit of trouble finding it - It's got a sign on the street, but I couldn't find the right strip mall building at first, so if you have to drive around a parking lot twice like I did, don't give up! It's worth it! I got takeout on a weeknight for my husband and I and didn't call ahead, but it was very fast service. The restaurant is pretty bare bones and on the empty side, so my guess is they do a lot of takeout business. If this place was on grubhub, I would probably get delivery constantly. We had the chicharron and the aji de gallina sandwiches with the fried yucca and the rice. Everything was pretty good, but I would probably skip the fried yucca next time. They were prepared really well - crispy outside, nicely salted, with a good, creamy/garlicky dipping sauce, but they just weren't really my thing. The chicharron sandwich was the star of the show. The pork is crispy and salty, with nice bite from the pickled onions (I don't even like onions) and sweetness from the sweet potato. We also got the cookies at the register (on another yelper's recommendation) and it was like shortbread clouds. So good! Please, please, please go to this place. It was very empty when I was there (weeknight takeout) and it would be a crying shame if a place this unique, delicious, and fast went under. You won't regret it. This place is great! Saw them some time back and knew I'd have to stop by sometime. I love Peruvian food, and am lucky enough to have tasted authentic versions of it. This place didn't disappoint! I ordered an all time favorite: Aji De Gallina, which is Peru's answer to chicken curry. The sauce is made by blending milk, bread crumbs, chicken stock and aji yellow peppers. The aji pepper is extremely rare outside of Peru, and is only available in paste form in the states. The base dish is a tad bland but you have to add the spicy aji salsa to get the full effect of the dishes' flavor. I love that it was paired w sweet potatoes, as Peru has a plethora of potatoes cultivated there. The neatest thing is you can order this dish as a platter or in sandwich form. They offer plenty of other options of well known Peruvian dishes presented in sandwich such as Lomo Saltado. I will be trying that next time :). On the weekends they offer Peruvian tamales wrapped in banana leaves. Nice music and a friendly staff round this place out to a solid 5 stars! This hidden gem doesn't disappoint with it's authentic offerings, unique concept, and great staff! The food is delicious and though the dishes such as a quinoa burger and milanesa are seen at many restaurants , the Peruvian flavored really shine for a completely unique meal. Both the quinoa burger and the fried yucca were the best I've had. My friend ordered the milanesa and loved. However , he did say that it's a bit heavy with the sauce if that's something you're concerned with , but it's easily adapted as the food is all made in front of you ( not in a Chipotle or Subway fashion, rather it's just possible to see into the kitchen). Absolutely delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about what I had for lunch here today. I came with my family and we ordered several items off the menu and all of them were terrific. I highly recommend the Peru poutine (we got it with cicharron), the fried rice, anything with cicharron...actually, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything is made fresh and with care. The owners are very friendly and helpful and are more than happy to assist in navigating the menu. My kids loved the food and keep telling me how tasty it was. There are about 1/2 dozen tables for dining in. They don't have highchairs (at least, not that I noticed), so keep that in mind if you're dining with very small kids. But don't let that stop you, the food is very kid-friendly (lots of flavor but not spicy). And if you have room, try the bread pudding for dessert. As I got out, I got yelled by the older woman who must be the owner, talking in her dialect about something I don't understand, I'm guessing it's something related to the bathroom use. She was so Mean, giving me this dirty look, that I should close the bathroom door. I find that very weird and intimidating, as I Do NOT Understand her at all. I love going to mom and pop places. They pour themselves into their food and it shows here. The food is freshly made for you. It's a simple sandwich shop with a simple menu. This was hands down the BEST food I have ever eaten. Every single bite was perfect! We live across the street and didn't even know about this place until Yelp told us it was a mile away. We hopped on our bikes and were off. This place is in the same little parking lot off North Aurora as Fire It Up and Draft Picks. Don't go to any of those places! Come to SanguCHE!!! We tried a chicken and a cheese empanada. They were made from scratch and I have never tasted a more perfect dough. The chicken filling was seasoned perfectly and the accompanying hot sauce was very spicy and flavorful. We also tried the poutine which is made with hand cut French fries smothered in a cheesy type of sauce topped with your choice of meat, pickled red onions, and green onions and the chicharron sandwich which was on perfectly toasted ciabatta bread with a thick slice of pork, sweet potato, and pickled red onions finished with a parsley mayo. Every single bite we took was perfect and surprising. Every ingredient was made from scratch and with so much care and detail. My fiancee and I tried this place because of the previous ratings we saw here. We were both very happy with our choices. She had the chicharron and I got the milanesa. I was happy with the milanesa but I liked the chicharron more. For the sides, she got the fried rice, which for me was the best I've had. I tried the fried yucca, I had never eaten it before, but I definitely will get it again. The food was very good, the sauces are very flavorful as well, but the purple there are the nicest. I love this Peruvian sandwich spot. I think that I have slowly worked my way through the menu here. I have had Chicharrón, Butifarra, and Lomo Saltado. Those sandwiches are fresh, tasty, and delicious. I did not think that I would like sweet potato or fries on my sandwich, but Peru loves potatoes. I guess that I do too now. The chicken fried rice is amazing. I always try to stay on my diet and not get the fried rice or maybe eat a little of it. That just never works. It is too good. I put a little extra hot sauce in it and my mouth starts to water. I have had the fried plantains there too. In the past, I have never liked fried plantains because they are usually soggy or greasy. The owner/chef makes them crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It shows just how great this place is - something as simple as a plantain done so well. The owner/chef and his mother seem to do everything here. They are very friendly and attentive. You pay at the counter and there is seating. It may be more of a lunch spot, but I go for dinner and it is not crowded. We loved going to Peruvian restaurants in Chicago, so when I found this place on yelp while I was waiting for my wife and kids to finish up at Fox Valley Mall today, I saw that they had all our favorite Peruvian dishes in sandwich form. Lomo Saltado in a sandwich!!!! Well we weren't disappointed. We ordered the Lomo, an Aji de Gallina, and a Milanesa. The lomo and Milanesa were great. The gallina was good, but under seasoned and a little on the cold side. For sides we ordered the quinoa salad, fried yucca, and fries (fresh cut). All were also great.
