I take my 11 year old pup here for self grooming and it's the best! She's a big girl (60lbs) and they have a giant tub that works perfectly. Their products are extremely dog friendly (she's never itchy afterwards), and they smell great! Love the giant leaf blower/hair dryer they have because my dog needs it. Everyone working there is super friendly and the space is extremely clean :) read more

We love Sandy Paws! I bring my dog Bruce for a daycare a couple of days per week. The staff is extremely attentive and always lets me know how the day went. He's a bit over active and curious, so is a handful, but he's progressed and settled in really well with the team and other dogs there. I appreciate Jamie's advice and updates as a trainer for what behaviors to look out for and work on with him outside of daycare. The folks at Sandy paws have even gone out of their way to include special items for Bruce in their orders for the store that we can't find elsewhere. They've been a huge asset to my experience as a relatively new dog owner. Thank you! read more

Love supporting neighborhood businesses, and Sandy Paws is no exception. I go in for their BYOD washing service and love the vast quantity/quality of shampoo and conditioner options to wash my mutt; not to mention I get to wash and run without having to deal with the clean up. Bonus: The retail store offers a number of human grade or high quality treats and food. read more

very friendly and professional staff. good prices. easy and flexible appointments. they care for your pets as if they were theirs.

Surely because it is a bad rating, this comment will be deleted, but it is my duty to tell my case. The manager's attention is very poor. The first time I think because I was a new client, they treated me well. When I made the 2nd appointment I made it for a Saturday first thing in the morning but a month before they called me to confirm the appointment on a Friday, which is impossible, it was obvious that the manager made a mistake, I was kind and understanding, but the manager She was very rude, she didn't make mistakes were her words, after a while of exchanging words the new date was set. I took my dog that day and without my approval they cut the hair from my dog's tail I was understanding, and they were also requiring me to register for vaccinations. I sent it that same day, I never received any response. On the third appointment, they warned me again about the vaccines, the very rude manager told me that I didn't receive anything and I sent her away again. Send a photo of the original record of the vaccine that was given to my dog in his country of origin. However, it was not enough for the manager who again, in a very rude and derogatory manner, demanded that I had to go to the veterinarian who treated my dog in his country of origin and that he certify the validity of the vaccine, it was impossible to do that and after many words I decided to look for another place where my dog would be cared for. I came to the conclusion that if they treated me that way, what would be the treatment they gave my dog when I was not present, I don't know if this is a case of discrimination for being from another country or simply a case of lack of empathy. but in short, if you have a puppy, NEVER GET IT THERE. read more

My dog is famous in three states for the grooming she receives at Sandy Paws. And, she likes going for her spa day!

They do a great job and care about your pets. We take our corgi there every couple of months for some pampering and he always comes back looking so good and clean. The staff are all pleasant and good animal people. read more

Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful! Amanda the owner is personable and accommodating! Highly recommend!

I love Sandy Paws! The staff are amazing and they treat my dog like a queen! I can't say enough of how they take care of the dogs and how professional everyone is. read more

If I could give this place more stars, I would! I come here for the self wash dog baths as well as treats, speciality dog cookies, toys and necessities. The owner is so sweet and helpful! I have a dog who is afraid of absolutely everything and that includes baths. Amanda was super patient and helpful in trying to make Stella feel comfortable in the store. She was also wicked patient with me, I think the first time we took Stella there it took about 25 minutes just to get her into the tub. We've been back twice and will absolutely be back again! Everything in the store is so organized and there is a huge variety of everything I need for all three dogs I've got! read more

I wish I could give NO stars!! My beautiful, well-groomed, well maintained, pampered La-chon went in for a groom. Once I got home, I noticed the chop job on her ears and snout. It took management a day or two to get back to me. I was told the "groomer" Fatima said that my dog was knotted and matted. I guess she really had nothing else to say to justify her terrible workmanship. My dog has been getting groomed since she was 4 months old. Every 4-5 weeks, she goes in for upkeep. Her coat is perfect and silk like smooth. Fatima first stated that my dog was wiggling too much. Again, she's been groomed since 4 months old. She's used to it. Once I informed them of that, the next response was that she was so poorly matted and knotted. I asked for a refund at which I was refused. Management is awful; she doesn't really know what good business is. The pictures speak for themselves here. Please Please reconsider going to this establishment. Terrible workmanship: management doesn't care about their client's, nor their reputation either. If after reading all this and you do decide to go, definitely look at your animal before you pay & tip!!! Good Luck read more

I bring my Yorkie Doodles in every 6-8 weeks to see Kerrie. He's not a fan of being groomed and gives a run for the money but Kerrie always gets the job done! I'd also like to mention I've had 3 neighbors in the past who've used Sandy Paws Daycare and were very happy with that part of their services too. 2 of them stopped only because they left town. read more

Seems as though the past few months have gone downhill, sadly. This is the second time my dog (mini schnauzer) has ended up cut and/or with razor burn. In addition, although they had to cut her GROSSLY short due to her "extensive snarls" (even though I brushed her night before to make sure these were minimal), the cut is choppy at best and her face (also choppy) makes her look like a cross between a rat and Mr. Wigglesworth. What else should I expect from a complimentary cut? read more

Sandy Paw's - Pet Groomers Near Me - Winthrop, Massachusetts

This is my third time I brought my dog (bichon frise mix) to this place for the whole work up. Second day after I picked him up I noticed he is walking funny and seems to be scooting a lot. I looked under his tail and saw a raw spot there. It was a razor burn from the clippers. I called immediately and described whats going on and asked for reimbursement. They asked me to come over only for today so they can check it out . When I arrived and showed the painfull and raw spot to the owner she offered me $15 dollars off from the next cut. At first I agreed because I did not want to argue or to be mean, but now I am realizing that this was not a fair offer. My poor dog can't sleep at all. He is waking me up from his constant licking and shaking. He is in pain and feeling uncomfortable. If I take him to the vet I would have to pay around $100.00 just for the visit and some medication. And I probably will have to do that anyway. They seemed like they had no concern about that. I am very disappointed at how the owner handled the whole situation. They are proffessionals and they should not make such mistake. Dogs are living beiings and they can't speak for themselfs. Now I feel like I paid all that money for him to go through unnecessary pain. $15.00 dollars won't make it better. read more

An employee at Sandy Paw's made us aware of the unprofessional practices of the owner a few weeks after we had boarded our dog there. She took our dog back to her home without our consent, and decided not to let us know about it at all. It turns out that her cat had ringworm at the time, and so after our dog developed red rashes on his stomach and vomited multiple times in a day we had to take him to the vet for testing. With that sort of irresponsibility we cannot even be sure that he was monitored during his stay. The employees seemed like friendly people, but with practices such as what we experienced we will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Excellent place. The people are very accommodating and helpful. I have been taking Rhaegar there for a while . He is 110lb Shepherd mix and looks great every time. I would recommend them to everyone. read more

They did a great job boarding our pup who gets anxiety and his very high energy and strong!

If you need your little critter taken good care of, then this is the place to be. I brought my dog in today for a simple nail trim. However, she is notorious for not playing so nice when it comes to clipping her claws. Ava got along well and handled it like a champ for the very first time thanks to the kind professionals here. Everyone was helpful and very comforting to her. We have definitely found our dog groomer and treats supplier for life! read more

The people at Sandy Paws always take their time and do a great job caring for my nervous dog. She always comes home happy and well taken care of. I don't know how they make her fur so soft, it's amazing! read more

When it comes to boarding our two little Brussels Griffons, the only place we turn to and trust is Sandy Paws. They're an amazing group of people so I know the dogs are being very well taken care of and loved every minute we are apart. It makes for a stress-free and worry-free time away. read more

I have an elderly (16 year old) Yorkie who resolutely hates going to the groomer's, but Sandy Paws has kept the excursion as pain-free as possible for the two visits we have had there. They are reasonably priced but do a great job providing a professional, attractive cut with the nice little extras (oatmeal bath, sparkly bow) and my pup has been in and out in under 2 hours, which helps to limit her anxiety about being away for too long. We will keep going for routine grooming. read more

I'm new to the area and was having such a hard time finding a dog groomer for my Coton Maltese mix and boxer mix and I'm so happy I found Sandy Paws! My little one Gracie is newer to the family and the first place I took her did not work well as they kept her far too long and her haircut was choppy. Sandy Paw's was everything I could hope for in a reliable place to bring my dogs! My boxer mix got a a great bath, he came out smelling great, shedding less, and was incredible soft. My Maltese mix Gracie come out with such a great cut! The groomer did an amazing job on her, she looks adorable! The most important thing of all though, my dogs came out wagging their tails, they clearly had a great time at Sandy Paw's! I'm so happy I found this place, I'll never have to try another groomer around here. read more

I have a toy poodle who has been getting groomed at Sandy Paw for years. This is the only place that we have gone to that my dog walks into with his tail up. We used to have to drag him in to other groomers. Sue is just great with him. She is so sweet, and she consistently gives him a beautiful cut, complete with fluffly little pom pom tail. Their prices are higher than others in the area last I checked, but I have such peace of mind when I drop him off that it is worth it to me. read more

We've been bringing our Golden Retriever here since moving to Winthrop last fall. Sue does a great job on her, she looks better than she ever has! At first we were a little surprised at the prices, but after checking with friends to compare, their pricing is right in line. And you get what you pay for. read more

First off, I love Jaime in daycare! Very knowledgeable & well trained! Kiera groomed my dog I just love her work & I could tell she was very well taken care of! However, the manager of Sandy paws, Amanda, is super unprofessional, no Customer service skills, & extremely rude. Has no clue about dog behavior nor services, I tried to ask her about a simple question & she couldn't even look me in the face & response. Everytime I go in there she's always on her phone complaining about one thing or another. This is why I try to just stick to the employees when I drop off my dog. I would have gave this place a 5 because of how much I adore the groomer & daycare people, but that manger has to go. read more

My almost-2 year old puggle had been going to the same daycare in Somerville since he was 6 mths old. We just recently moved to Winthrop and I was very anxious about sending him some place new when I had such trust and peace of mind when he was at Pet Spa in Somerville. The first couple of play group visits left him nervous and a little quiet. But, by his 2nd full day of day care he was pulling my arm off to get to the door and even sits and waits for Stephanie to come and get him. All the ladies here are fabulous and Cecil & I couldn't be happier to have found The Sandy Paw. I highly recommend the daycare service. read more

My one-year old shih tzu, Yuki, is a once-a-week attendee at the doggy day care. I drop him off at 8 a.m. and pick him up at 6:30 p.m. He has his regular four-legged friends that he plays with non-stop, and he's now totally socialized. The care at Sandy Paw is wonderful. I don't have them walk my dog only because he has a habit of slipping out of his collar, but they take the dogs out for nice walks to break up the day - at no extra charge. Yuki loves going to the Sandy Paw, and I love the fact that he's exhausted when he comes home! read more

If you aren't taking your dog to the Sandy Paw Pet Spa then he/she probably doesn't like you very much. Seriously, your pet is probably giving you stank eye as you read this. This place is a hidden gem tucked away in Winthrop. The owner is quite possibly the sweetest lady I have ever met. Like her, the staff are all very friendly and caring. I really dislike dropping my dog off and leaving him somewhere, but I was at ease here because I can tell the staff genuinely love animals. I've taken my dog here several times, but one experience that truly stands out is this: One time I called in the late afternoon on a Sunday to see if they had any appointments available that day. It was very last minute. I had an impromptu trip coming up on Monday and was taking my dog with me. The owner told me to bring him right over. She took me as a walk in and stayed past closing just to get him washed, trimmed, and groomed. It was so nice of her and I was extremely grateful. This place has stellar customer service and is an outstanding business. Five doggie treats for you, Sandy Paw. read more
