Guys, it's just a simple sandwich spot, no bs. Homeboy down in the reviews seems to be completely overwhelmed by the options provided, I'm guessing he's never stepped into a Subway else he'd probably have a stroke. I come here probably once a week for a decent sandwich. They have higher quality ingredients than your normal sandwich spots and a few more options (like alfalfa sprouts or mushrooms) for just about $1 more than a comparable sandwich from Subway. Also the owner (I'm assuming is the guy always taking the order) may seem a bit off-putting, but that's just his personality that I figured out over time. For quick lunch stop, I came here a total three times. Three times is a charm for me to give a solid impression review. Their sandwiches are good, plenty of meat and probably expensive if you really think about it just for a sandwich. With a drink and chip, came out to be almost $10. Turkey avocado has been a winner for me, and their roast beef also. But here is the thing of why I've never came here anymore. The first time I said NO CRUST on my sandwich, they still forgot to cut off the crust. Second time I came giving them the benefit of the doubt that they will cut my crust, WRONG. Third and last, still crusty all over my wheat bread. This isn't a test, but what if I was allergic to crust??! (I know, no such thing) but I wished they could've listen more to their customer. Boss really loves the BLT with the french roll. I didn't even know what BLT meant till I started buying his lunch. So BLT means bacon, lettuce and tomato, WOW right? A regular sandwich would cost a lil over 5 bucks, and it varies on different kinds, but it wouldn't go over 6 bucks. For a 1.50, you can upgrade it to a large. Of all the times, I've been there, I've only gotten one for myself and it was a Pastrami with mushrooms for 6 bucks. I've went there so often, dude remembers my name and order. Well, I've gotten smarter as more and more times I go there, and instead of staring at the white wall while waiting for a sandwich, I saved their number and ordered over the phone before I head over. The phrase "BLT for pick up" became too regular and familiar. Besides the BLT and pastrami, they have choices like meatballs, sausage, the monster(avocado, roast beef, ham, turkey and swiss cheese), ham, turkey, salami, roast beef, capicola, tuna, bacon, holey moley (avocado, ham and cheese) and vegetarian for its sandwiches. They serve assorted homemade soups which runs 2.89 for a cup and 3.89 for a bowl. As for breakfast, they do serve bagels (plain or toasted or with cream cheese), bagel sandwich, breakfast sandwich and breakfast burrito). Yes, they do also serve salads such as the chinese chicken, chef, avocado, potato, chicken caesar, tuna, garden, macaroni and carrot cake. Chocolate chip cookies are 1.50 each and deidrich coffee are also served at 1.35 for its small size and 1.50 for it large size. Just like its slogan. My research team and I were in the area and decided to yelp something for lunch. After trying Sandwich King, do I feel this place is worthy of receiving a royalty-like name? Definitely not. Im biased towards mom and pop owned places...I wanted to like this place. Sandwich King has that warm feel illuminating from its friendly staff and clean tables, but for about $7 a sandwich, it isn't worth it....especially when everything done here could probably be done at home. The items do seem fresh, but the quantity for the price is very small. I was still hungry after eating the Pastrami sandwich (which lacked flavor) and my colleagues turkey bacon with avocado on squaw bread (needed a sauce or aioli to put it all together). Later that day, my team and I had Le Diplomate Cafe back at UCI and laughably compared the differences in taste of both places...Sandwich King should be dethroned. The sandwich king is a nice, clean and friendly place for a good sandwich. Is it worthy of the title of King? Ummmm not really, I'm not saying that it's a bad place their good sandwiches. But the King I think Not. Their most popular are the Turkey, provolone on squaw with Avocado. Their Tuna salad is always good, hot pastrami on a roll with mustard. They have a good selection of sandwiches with decent bread but no white bread. Which is a killer for me because if your craving a simple ham and cheese you got to have in white toasted right... I'm just saying c'mon some regular white wonder bread, after all this is Orange County... Now be ready to pay extra for Avocado, Cheese, Bacon and whatever else creeps into your brain. You can pay anywhere from $7.00 - $10.00 for a Sandwich, Drink and Chips. They do have a combo special which is the sandwich of the day, chips and drink for about $8.00 total. This is a good place for a quick lunch, eat here or take back to your place of work. There are no trills or fireworks just a simple sandwich shop. Open Monday trough Friday From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed on Weekends. I first stumbled upon this place when I was driving around looking for a new sandwich shop to have lunch. This fit the bill perfectly as it was in close proximity to my workplace. I came in off the street not knowing what to expect. I did like that Sandwich King was very easy to locate though - right at the intersection of Red Hill and Sky Park Circle North. Most importantly, parking was a cinch; ample customer parking can be found right in front of the business. When I went in, it was busy but I was served right away. I ordered a pastrami sandwich. No sooner than I had turned around to pull up a chair to wait, my order was ready. The sandwich was wrapped very neatly. The pastrami was lean and tender with a lot of flavor. Definitely one of the best pastrami's I've had the pleasure of eating. I had opted to have the sandwich served on a french roll, which was soft, fresh and tasty. I typically don't like french bread, so that's saying quite a bit. I liked the location, sandwich and service so I decided to come back for lunch the very next day. Upon placing my order for a roast beef and avocado with no mayo, the owner (at least I get the impression that he's the owner) recognized me immediately and welcomed me back. Again I received my order very promptly and was extremely satisfied with the taste, freshness and build quality of the sandwich. The roast beef was also very lean, very tasty and exceptionally tender. The avocado was ripe, fresh and generously placed. Both visits I took my sandwiches to-go, but if you choose to eat in, the establishment is very clean and there is more than adequate seating - even for groups. I will be returning on a regular basis and look forward to trying every sandwich that the King offers. Next on the list is the egg salad sandwich, but I'll opt for mustard instead of mayo. read more

I've been working within walking distance of Sandwich King for about 8 years now so by default it has been one of the places I get to eat at for lunch each week. So since I've got some experience with the food here I thought I would give you the run down on some of the items I love. #1 Favorite: Grilled Chicken Sandwich - Served on a white roll, with a Chicken Breast, Provolone Cheese, Grilled Mushrooms, Bell Peppers, Onions and Jalapeno's. (I like to hold the Jalapeno's but if you love them order them.) #2: Chef Salad - Served with lots of meat, cheese, egg and other good stuff. #3: Chicken Tortilla Soup. Have them put some shredded cheese on top. #4: The wraps are good too!!! #5: Turkey Melt on Sourdough... Don't forget to add avocado for a really super good sandwich. I've also heard from my co-workers that the Egg Salad Sandwich is good and so is the Meatball sandwich. Who knew a sandwich could taste so good! maybe it's because I haven't eaten vegetables or a sandwich in months...but my turkey bacon on sqwa bread was yummy!!! maybe it was the sweet pickles or crunch of the bacon or sweetness of the bread. I wasn't quite sure what bread to get, so I ask the female employee what tastes good and she recommended sqwa bread, glad she did!!! The portions are huge! It's a little mom and pop sandwich shop in the Sky Park Circle area. The place is clean, but not at all fancy. Huge selection of different sandwiches. I usually get a club or Italian sandwich. Both are very good and very good portions. The roll is your typical 8" roll but soft and the meats are good. The couple that work there are very friendly. Again, not a very fancy place, but what you expect a business park sandwich place to be...good food at reasonable prices and a small business trying to make it in OC. Most of the time I go I phone ahead and it's ready when I arrive to pick it up. When I do eat there I usually take something to read as it's not real crowded there and very quiet. Many people get their food to go there. Again, good portions, huge selection and friendly service from a small business. I get the club sandwich #3. Turkey, bacon, and avocado. One of two things I want to mention here is how amazing the avocado is. Perfectly seasoned and mixed with mayo (mayo haters, peace out). I walked into this sandwich shop the other day for lunch after a night of drinking and was immediately perplexed by the variety of menu items on the board. I counted 8 panels with about 10 items each coming out to roughly 80 different listed sandwiches Fortunately there was no-one behind me in line so i stood looking perplexed at the nice Chinese man waiting patiently to take my order. After a good 5 minutes looking crosseyed at the menu trying not to get dizzy and fall down I gave up and ordered something that i was pretty sure i would like. A tuna melt. "I'll have the tuna melt" I said The main behind the counter immediately came back with: "What kind of bread would you like?" Oh crap, I hadn't thought of that. Oh, wait, now where was the bread options in this sandwich matrix. I had to ask. He pointed at the bread options and after a minute of him pointing at the same spot on the menu i finally focused my eyes on the 5 or 6 different bread options. I was confused because they had something like a "Roll" and a "French Roll" and i couldn't for the life of me figure out why you would need both options. "White Bread" i said "Toasted? ok, so now where were we. 80 options, multiplied by 6 types of bread times 2 for the toasted/not toasted. That comes out to 960! options. "Do you want everything on it?" Shrug.. "Whats everything?" "Lettuce, tomato, pickles, avocado, mustard and mayo" "sure i'll take it all" Ok, binary math now. each option doubles the original set of options. --grinding gear noise in head-- We my friends are now at 61440 possible sandwich combinations! Exhausted I sat down and ate my chips and drink. When the sandwich finally came I took a big bite. The 90% of the tuna squished out the sides along with the avocado. The structurally unsound thin piece of white bread disintegrated in my hands and of course was left with the typical tasteless hard as an apple California Tomato which was cut way too thick. What kind of a moron would order this sandwich? I can't stand avocado either, not on a sandwich anyway. If i had seen a picture of this sandwich before ordering it i would most certainly have chosen something else. And this is the problem with american society today. Everyone wants to have ALL the options, but the thing is. WE ARE ALL IDIOTS! myself included. And what about this sandwich guy. For me, it's just another bad sandwich. But for this guy it's his life. He wakes up in the morning and for at least 8, probably 10 hours a day all he does is makes sandwiches one after another. You would think a guy like that would have some pretty good opinions on what makes a good sandwich and what doesn't right? If i were doing that job, i would spend years trying to construct the perfect combination of bread meat and cheese and then present ONLY THOSE OPTIONS. that way the customer is much more likely to get a good sandwich. Sure, you can show the options as well and you can offer substitutions for those few who want to order something custom but the vast majority of your clients are just going to order off the menu. But no. Who knows how many years this guy has been in business and he can't even bother to figure out what makes a good sandwich. This is just pure laziness if you ask me. My rating is based primarily on customer service and their amazing BLTA. Paul the owner is a great guy. I met him last year and on my 2nd visit he remembered my name, my daughter's name and asked me how my parents were doing because they met him a few days prior. I often walk to Sandwich King from my office in the afternoon to get iced coffee. The quality of the iced coffee is not on par with a $4.00 coffeehouse coffee but there it's not $4.00 and there is something magical about it. It is powerful and restarts my day. The BLTA is awesome! Their bacon is always cooked perfectly and every avocado looks perfect as well. The greens and tomatoes are fresh too. For a snack, I pop over there to get hard boiled eggs. Recently they added FREE Wi-Fi and it is fast. I also found out that they do catering. If you want fancy, go to a fancy restaurant. If you want a fresh sandwich at a reasonable price and enjoy good service and supporting small local business, go to Sandwich King. read more

Pros: -Big portions - a lot of meat, a lot of avocado -Flavor - I had turkey avocado with pickles, olives, cucumbers..tasted excellent. The bread and meat were very fresh and delicious Cons: Price - it's a bit pricey for being a sandwich shop, but they do pack their sandwiches with as much meat/toppings as possible. Wish they had a lunch special or some sort of deal... A regular sandwich runs about $6-8, a large is $7-9. They also have wraps (reg. $7ish, large $9ish). Usually order avocado on squaw or avocado with bacon on squaw....please note the first ingredient here is AVOCADO, Sandwich King...today I ordered the avocado with bacon and was served what was basically a bacon and tomato sandwich with some avocado smeared on the bread. If I had not gotten it to - go, I would have said something. They just lost my business. $6.79 for that sandwich is a crime. For a quick sandwich shop in a business complex this place is pretty good. It is right across from my gym and I thought I would try it out and got the regular sized Italian sandwich. It came out to about $6.50 for a regular which was pretty nicely sized and pretty reasonably priced for a sandwich in the OC. I placed the order for pick up over the phone and it was ready really quick! The sandwich had plenty of meat, The meat was okay, not the best quality in the world but tasty. The veggies and dressing were really tasty! They gave the sandwich quite a bit of zing and flavor and made the sandwich moist and delicious.
