Best BBQ I have ever had in my life! Upon arrival, they were sold out of sliced brisket and chicken- I now know why! We had pulled pork and chopped beef, it was incredible. The meat was smoked to perfection and served with a delicious BBQ sauce option. My personal favorite side was the macaroni and cheese! In my opinion, the fried okra was a bit salty so I probably wouldn't get that again. That said, this BBQ is a must when in the area! We will be back!!!! read more

After driving around downtown Savannah for what seemed like forever looking for a place to park we decided to venture a little further out and landed at Sandfly BBQ. So happy we did. Our group got a pulled pork sandwich, pulled chicken sandwich, chicken salad sandwich, sausage sandwich, potato salad, baked beans, mac and cheese and fries. Everyone loved their meals! It was VERY good. The service was great. Very friendly, helpful staff! We also bought a couple tshirts and when we couldn't find the size we needed they took the time to look through their stock in the back to find them for us. Great bbq! We went during COVID times so obviously have to be understanding but the food was awesome and workers super friendly. The Mac and cheese was gritty, the baked beans were too thick, the toast was too greasy, green beans were too salty, and the proportions for the meat is not worth the price you pay. For example, beef brisket plate is $21 with no drink, but comes with two sides toast comes with it automatically. Drinks are $3.00. Plus tax is around $26. Small local BBQ joint just outside of Savannah; basically a "blink and you'll miss it" place. It's in a strip with other businesses. But I see why they have great reviews - really good food. The pulled pork plate includes a 1/2 lb. of pork, Texas toast and two sides for $13. Some of the sides, like onion rings, cost a little extra. The plate doesn't come with a drink; for that price it really should in my opinion. The pork was really nice, as were the baked beans which had some pork in them. Their onion rings are homemade with a light batter and were outstanding. They also have BBQ sandwiches on the menu for about $10, with one side. There are three BBQ sauce options on the table - sweet, spicy and mustard-based. The seating is minimal in a side area; no frills here. Just a single bathroom, right behind the seating area. Parking shouldn't be a problem. In summary, really good food, no frills seating area, slightly high prices, and drinks not included. But if you want some good BBQ, this is a place to stop. read more

Sandfly is always a hit! I go to school at South University which is only a 5 minute drive from sandfly so this is an occasional lunch spot for me and some friends and we love it. There's always some action going on here and the food definitely explains why. When you first walk in you're introduced to the menu all along the wall while you wait in line to place your order at the counter. Once you place your order you have the option to go sit around the corner or go sit outside at one of their tables (we like outside the best). Everything I have gotten here has honestly been pretty good. Their pork is cooked very well and has a pretty distinct taste to it that sticks out. Definitely not your average pork! My favorite plate to get is the sliders! I chose the pulled pork, brisket and sausage sliders and the best part is that all of it was only 6 bucks! The sandwiches are à la carte and the sides are a bit pricey, which is a drawback, however a long with the meat, the sides are very good also. Sweet potato fries are always my go to here! I love coleslaw but it was a bit runny here so it wasn't my favorite. All in all this is one of my preferred go to lunch spots in Savannah and I am very excited to try out the Streamline. It was bathed in salt, as the only seasoning that they apply to the meat or the vegetables. Every single thing we ordered was salty and inedible. Now I spend all this money on food for a family of four and we are all still hungry because we can't eat the food. I hate leaving negative reviews if people sincerely tried to deliver a good meal but this was no effort, this was just bad, one of the worst meals I've ever had, ever. You like to tell yourself that nothing is better than home cooking, but I've never made a plate of barbecue as good as the Hog Wild Platter from the SandFly. Every item was cooked to perfection: moist, flavorful, tender without being mushy... It was amazing. My early favorite was the sausage that came on the plate, but the ribs were even better the next day when I had them for breakfast. Even the sauces here are superior. Top-notch experience all around.
