Went there with two families today for lunch ranging from 10-50 yrs old. Killer food. Tried just about everything. Our favorites were the onion rings, wings, pulled pork and sausage. Fries were amazing too.....hand cut. Brisket was good not great. They were out of ribs and Mac-n-cheese balls. Excited to try those next time. Good sauces. Especially liked vinegar sauce on pulled pork and white sauce with wings. Everyone agreed we will make this a tradition to visit every Thanksgiving when we're in town. read more

We have been coming to this establishment since they opened in Sandfly. Impeccable service and delicious food. Tonight was a horrible experience. From the moment we walked in the young lady at the front was visibly annoyed she had to take our order. She never even greeted us. The food was awful. My baked beans were ice cold and I pleasantly walked up to ask if they could heat them up. The same young lady rolled her eyes, took them from me and walked off. I said, "I'm sorry if that annoyed you" to which she said, "It's okay." I then said, "You don't need to be so unfriendly or rude. I asked nicely about my food needing to be heated up." She mumbled, "Sorry". I am not sure if they have new owners or what, but it was not the Sandfly BBQ we know and love. Probably won't go back. If you don't want to be nice, stay home. We all have stuff we deal with in our lives. She had no idea what kind of day I had and I still managed to smile and be kind. Really bummed. read more

We came in for lunch, and we decided to share a big ol' plate of bbq. It came with some ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and a sausage link. All the meat was fantastic! The ribs were fall off the bone, melt in your mouth packed with flavor, juicy master pieces of goodness! The brisket was exceptional, and the pulled pork was very good too! I must say that the sausage link was not on par with everything else. But no use crying over it, everything else was great, and I was highly impressed! Their Sauce was really good, and you could tell it was house made. They have all the usual choices when it comes to Sauces. They had the NC vinegar style, the SC mustard style, and the KC sweet style. They were all very good... but I like to mix my NC vinegar, and the sweet together... To drink I had the sweet tea of course! The service was very good, I was asking about the Brunswick stew because I'd never had it. And they gave me a big ol' sample for free! :) The atmosphere was really relaxed, laid back, and cool. They were playing some great oldie music. It was an all around enjoyable experience... I've been coming here for about three years and it just doesn't seem the same anymore. The food is always great, but can be salty at times. I remember the first time I went I was pleasantly surprised how inexpensive the food was with the quality. The staff at the time was great and I became a regular pretty quickly. When sandfly BBQ at streamliner closed, I started coming to their main location despite the drive . I was very surprised to see that the staff was not nearly as helpful or kind - one person didn't even seem like they wanted to work there, and it turned me off of them pretty much completely. Sandfly BBQ was worth the long and winding drive from the tourist area in Savannah. The restaurant is tucked into a strip mall in the middle of the Sandfly neighborhood which was good since I was headed to a Sand Gnats game afterward! The place just screams Southern Barbecue with stickers all over the wall and a handwritten menu. Of course I had to try the Hog Wild with ribs, pulled pork, and sausage. The ribs were just awesome with great smoky flavor and texture along with great pulled pork. I was really impressed with the sausage. My sides were a good macaroni and cheese and the Brunswick Stew. I guess I just do not get the stew, but I am sure it is a good representation. Plenty of unsweet iced tea too. This is a great place for visitors and residents alike and worth the drive. Best brisket and pulled pork I've had in Georgia! Expertly smoked, full of flavor, and tender. The onion rings were good too, but not amazing. They were overcooked a tad. The Mac n cheese was okay too. Not stellar, but, still good. The greens were amazing though! I even used my Texas toast to sop up the delicious potlikker. The mustard sauce was really good. I couldn't tell the difference between the sweet sauce and the spicy sauce. They were both good though. Perhaps we got two of the same? It is a bit expensive; but it was worth it. I wish the menu prices on yelp matched their current prices on their menu board at the restaurant. read more

I found this place by accident, was just looking for something to drink. Once I was inside I knew I was getting lunch, so I got a pulled pork sandwich. Very generous portion, meat was super tender, but that sauce! OMG! I used a whole container on my sandwich, then brought the other home to share with the wife. Her eyes bugged out when she tasted it. It's a unique sauce, full of lots of different subtle flavors, plus some big bold ones. Sides are a la carte, didn't have time to try them. Very reasonably priced. No frills kinda place, menu on the wall, order at the counter. Tables outside, booths inside. My next visit will involve ribs and brisket, stay tuned. At the top of my list for bbq places. read more

Recommended by the owner of our rental while in Savannah who admitted that she had never been herself, but that she had heard good things. It was the food highlight of our trip to Savannah, including "The lady and sons" and "Angels BBQ". The barbeque was amazing with a great smoke flavor and deep smoke ring. The meat in our baskets included several pieces of burnt ends that were caramelized just right and not too tough while the center meat was tender, juicy, and smoky. Sauces were a little unique but by far one of the best mustard based sauces I've ever had (and I'm a sweet hickory smoke sauce myself). The sweet sauce was good as well but had a little kick to it, which kept it interesting. The potato salad was average as were the sweet potato fries, however the BBQ was so amazing that we couldn't focus on much else. The sweet tea was excellent and the food came out quick. If there was one thing lacking, it would be the absence of hushpuppies which I personally consider a BBQ side staple, however won't hold against Sandfly because other local BBQ spots also don't offer them. read more

We took a taxi road trip to Sandfly Bar B Q. Was it worth the $50 return (tip included) fare from Savannah? On so many levels, Ab - So - Lutley!!!! Let's be clear. There is nothing fancy or pretentious about this place. Tucked away in a small commercial strip this place is all about the exceptional home cooked BBQ deliciousness; it's not about ambiance. The menu is displayed on a large chalk board behind the order counter. There are 5 meat choices: pulled pork; beef brisket; smoked sausage, BBQ side ribs and chicken. Then there is a wide array of sides, ranging from the famous baked beans, the equally famous fried okra, to mac & cheese and the ubiquitous sweet potato fries. We ordered a sampler platter (sausage, ribs, pulled pork and beef brisket and Texas toast), then threw in a 1/4 chicken, fried okra, baked beans and mac & cheese for good measure. Gluttonous much :) So, to the food. Tied for best of the bunch: the melt in your mouth beef brisket and the smoky, deliciously fatty sausage. Both were absolutely heavenly. If we ever get back here we've already determined that we'll order sandwich made with each of these yummy meats . Tied for second place: BBQ pork side ribs and the pulled pork. The side ribs had a wonderful sauce cooked into the ribs - not sloppy at all, this sauce was essentially caramelized into the meat. The pulled pork was tender and delicious, and we had fun experimenting with the bottled sauces to enhance the flavour. The chicken was good, but paled in comparison to the other meats. As for the sides, the baked beans with delicious bits of bacon and pulled pork were to die for. These sweet molasses beans cried out to be scooped from their cup by chunks of Texas toast, and who were we to argue!? The fried okra also lived up to its reputation, and we were just happy to have at least one vegetable - even if it was a battered and deep fried one - at the table! As for the mac & cheese, it was the only miss of the meal. Perhaps the most fascinating part of the visit was sitting outside and watching the steady flow of people in and out of the restaurant (this place does a booming take-out business). Families in mini-vans were followed by a patrician gentleman driving a C-series Mercedes, a high-brow couple in a brand new F-Type Jaguar, and then by another couple in a 5-series BMW, then a beat-up truck with some very rural people. The Brunswick Stew lives up to it's reputation! It was sooo good, we took some home. Friendly, quick service. I was very pleased with the pulled chicken over salad. My daughter had the chicken fingers that were moist, lightly fried and flavorful. My son was quite pleased with the brisket. My husband felt his rib order was a bit smaller than he is used to from other restaurants. The price was very reasonable, the food was good, we definitely recommend this restaurant . read more

The Hog Wild set is reasonable enough at $23 when split with another person and there is definitely enough to split. Flavors are generally good. Brisket was a little dry and the sausage isn't winning any awards as it seems kind of cheap. Ribs are tender and flavorful with a dry rub but very salty. Pulled pork is tasty with lots of smoke flavor. I don't think any of us even added sauce. Chicken was fine but unremarkable. Crinkle cut sweet potato fries are not only flavorful but have a nice firm texture. Baked beans are sweet and smoky but not unpleasantly sweet. Coleslaw is apparently forgettable as I have. In the middle of lunch, we waited fifteen minutes for two Hog Wild sets. Staff is nice enough. As at the other branch, the flies are a real bête noire even when we didn't have any food. read more

Found this place on the web, it was labeled as one of the 10 best. I do not know what or who they were up against but it must not have been much. The place and the staff are nice and accommodating. The place is pet friendly which is cool.The food was ok. The portions were good as was the sweet tea. Neither of us ate our whole meal as it was too disappointing. I am a BBQ guy and have had a very successful run on the competitive circuit. I know good que and this is average at best. The pork was dry, flavorful but dry. The brisket was moist and a little flat on flavor. We had beans and slaw for sides. The slaw was ok the beans were too smoky and seemed overseasoned with fat back or something. The vinegar sauce was good on the pork. The regular sauce tasted more like bean base than bbq sauce. The place was just really underwhelming. read more

Recently moved to Savannah, I wanted some BBQ and heard about the Sandfly. I went there on 5/10/2019 and was pleasantly surprized. The food is Anazing! Smoked chicken and ribs with collard greens and potato salad. Their homemade BBQ sauces available are really tastie as well. I dodnt take pictures but next time I will.
