Absolutely loved this place! We came here for our anniversary and everything was amazing. The inside is cute and cozy our server was great super friendly and nice. They even gave us a little card saying happy anniversary on our table since I had put in the reservation that it was our anniversary. It's little touches like that that make an experience that much better. The food was excellent everything was fresh and delicious. Our rolls were very good the dumplings were excellent and the miso brownie at the end of the night was exceptional! 10/10 for sure

The food was absolutely great. Every dish we ordered was a hit! We truly loved it. Plus, the service was perfect. Highly recommend!

We had heard about the Sandfish. It was great. The chef is from Turkey but was trained in Japan. They told me that some of the fish is flown in from Japan. The sushi is the best that we have had in the valley. The restaurant is clean and has a wonderful ambiance for date night or a special occasion.

My friends and I are on a girls trip and decided to try this spot! We were skeptical at first as the reviews were iffy and were in the desert, but we are so glad we came! This place is DELICIOUS!!! It's pretty small and reservations are recommended. There is seating indoor, at the bar, and some outdoor seating ad well. We went for HH right at 1700 and just walked in. There was only bar seating was available at that time. The service was great, the food was fantastic, and it was a nice cozy vibe. I'd definitely come back again!! Food/drink review: Passion fruit margarita (5/5) Super delicious! It was on the stronger side, but great balance of flavors. Edamame: (5/5) Simple, but delicious! It wasn't too soggy or too hard. Brussel sprouts: (5/5) These were roasted and had great flavor. I love Brussel sprouts and these were yummy! Crispy salmon balls: (3/5) These were just OK. Ratios were off. There was way too much rice and not enough fish for my taste. Tuna tataki tacos: (5/5) Honestly surprised how much I enjoyed these. The crunch was perfect, sauce and fish paired very well together. If they weren't on HH menu I wouldn't order as they are very expensive. Hosomaki rolls: Overall, they were pretty good! Our favorites were the salmon one, ended up ordering two of them. So tasty! The venue and sand fish rolls: (5/5) During HH, you can pick two rolls and get 4 pieces of each. Honestly a great deal for how delicious these rolls were. Again, we got them on HH, regular price is crazy. Salmon/tuna nigiri: (5/5) OMG. The nigiri was melt in your mouth delicious. It was like butter! I could have eaten an entire plate of these. Bao buns: (3/5) They weren't anything special. Cucumber roll: (4/5) We added avocado and topped it off with some crema verde and it was pretty tasty!

Came here to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday. There is. Small indoor seating and larger outside dining, both with very intimate feel. We ordered so many things I honestly couldn't remember the names but the star of the show was the yellowtail crudo. Oh my, I would order an entree if I could. It was buttery, fresh and just melted right in your mouth. I got the "Venue" roll. Very good, except I could have gone without the tobiko. I've had the yellow/orange tobiko but not this one and it was a bit more fishy and umami than I'm used to (and I love umami). If you haven't tried tobiko, I would opt for it off your roll. We also ordered, tartare cone, tuna tataki tacos, lollipop roll (so bomb if you're low carb), shrimp tempura and waygu with rice. A few of us ordered cocktail and they were all very delicious. Our server was amazing and attentive the entire night. Highly recommend and make sure you make reservations ahead of time. This seems like the spot everyone goes too. They also have live music, A+ for the vibes.

Tuna Tataki Tacos - So good

For our main anniversary dinner my wife and I chose Sandfish and it could not have been a better decision. We had seen the photos and reviews beforehand and the vibe looked perfect. The restaurant feels stylish and inviting and the service from start to finish was outstanding. We started with the tuna tataki tacos and they were incredible. The tuna had amazing flavor with a little hint of citrus and a satisfying garlic crunch. My wife and I were almost fighting over the last taco because it was that good. We also ordered spicy edamame and miso soup which were both excellent. The miso broth tasted fresh and full of depth and set the tone for the rest of the meal. For rolls we followed the recommendations of our server, an older gentleman whose name I wish I remembered because he was fantastic. We ordered the Sandfish, the Experiment, and the Lollipop. My wife devoured the Lollipop which combined crab, tuna, and mango in the best way possible. I had the Sandfish roll which came with spicy tuna, fried potato, teriyaki sauce, green onion, and a touch of black truffle. Every bite was loaded with flavor and I honestly considered ordering a second one even though the rolls are generously sized. The Experiment roll was also delicious and made for a fun mix of flavors. We added a cucumber salad to share and it was light, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Everything about this dinner hit the mark. The fish quality was excellent, the flavors were creative yet balanced, and the service was warm and attentive. Sandfish delivered exactly the anniversary dinner we were hoping for and more. We will absolutely be back and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for exceptional sushi in Palm Springs.

service was great! our server was really polite and accommodating. the cocktails were pretty strong, but great inventive flavors. the short rib bao buns were a bit sweet but still good the sandfish maki was excellent, but the experiment maki was a little bland. the brownie was nothing special, the green tea ice cream didn't have much flavor

Great time at Sandfish - this is certainly the place to be. Make sure you have reservations on a hot day because there's limited indoor (air conditioned) seating. Outside, the misters help, but sort of prolongs the inevitable sweat outbreak (early September) Highlights: Hamachi Crudo - served with tentsuyu, jalapeño, lemon and sesame oil. Simply mouthwatering. Experiment Maki Snow crab, mango, avocado, cucumber, topped with tuna, cilantro, thin slices of jalapeño and yuzu aioli. Goes down like butter. Lollipop Maki Kanikama, salmon, shrimp, yellowtail, tuna and avocado wrapped in cucumber, drizzled in ponzu sauce, with green onions and sesame seeds. The design, presentation and combination of elegant flavors are stunning. The bite doesn't last long but the finish is long and lingering. Questionable: Broccolini and Bok choy. This combo didn't work for me - they don't make each other better and clash more than compliment. Also overdressed. Koko Maki - coconut flakes on sushi is a bold move, and it doesn't really appeal to me. Dessert - yes, but just not on my raw fish please.... Just weird. Servers were understaffed yet held their own with aplomb. Drink and cocktail choices are abundant. I would love to come back. That's all....

Who knew one of the freshest sushi spots would be in the middle of a desert! I'm talking about Sandfish in Plam Springs. Drinks first: I got the freydis cocktail which was perfectly lychee and lemoy. We ordered the usual stuff then got to business . Lollipop was so unique! It had salmon, yellowtail, tuna, wrapped in cucumber shaped like a lollipop. Amazing presentation and flavor. Venue roll was incredible. it seared salmon, with tobiko on top. talk about an explosion of flavors. The A5 wagyu was like butter. It was Pan seared and topped with truffle tallow butter. Just fabulous. Robusuta was delicious! the lobster tempura on top drizzled with shiso lemon oil and smoked eel sauce. insane! Sandfish roll was so good! Those fried potato threads on top were a great touch. We finished off with their chocolate browns with green tea ice cream, and I NEED these mermaid tail spoons! Over all great vibe, amazing service and fantastic food! P.S. Thank you Yasu for a great service!

Came here on a Sunday night with no wait. Servers were kind and attentive. Ambiance was upscale and warm, great for a date. Fish quality was good. I think my biggest gripe with this place is the price of the rolls. The lolipop roll at almost $30 for 6 pieces was very high for what it was. Despite the abundance of fish, I did not see any real value or novelty besides thick piece of cucumber wrapping the fish which was way too big relative to the amount of fish inside. Could have definitely been cut thinner. Same for the koko roll; it tasted great but nothing different from an $18-$20 roll from another sushi place. Still the same generic taste profile of any americanized sushi place (eel sauce, spicy mayo, and tempura on top of raw fish) but with a highly marked up price. The spicy tuna tostada on the other hand was absolutely delicious. At $20 for the 4 pieces, I would highly recommend that. You can tell the chopped up tuna was seasoned lightly with some soy sauce and sesame oil but just the perfect amount that it doesn't overpower the rest of the dish. I ended up getting 2 of those. For the Freydis drink (lychee based), good presentation and good taste, no complaints. Overall, I would recommend this place for good quality fish and some ambiance because its probably the only place around Palm Springs that actually offers good fish. But because of that, be prepared to pay for that premium.

Pretty good sushi spot for Palms Springs, although the food is very pricey compared to market price sushi, the ambiance and service is what makes it. We got the: Spicy Tuna Tostadas (5/5): Seriously, this was the best spicy tuna tostadas I've ever had in my life! I could eat several of these. At $21 for 4 hand sized tostados loaded with flavorful, fresh spicy tuna - I'll take it! It was on top of a freshly fried, wonton crisp "tostada" that was slightly sweet. Loaded with a good portion of spicy tuna, eel sauce, spicy mayo, feta cheese, and micro greens - it was packed with flavor. The feta cheese on top of the tuna was actually the star of the show. It melted in with each bite and worked so well with the tuna, wonton crisp, and sauces. The microgreens added freshness. If you had to get one thing here get this! Koko Roll (4.5/5): This came with 8 big pieces of sushi that had shrimp tempura, avocado, and crab meat inside topped with raw tuna and coconut flakes. It also had its own "koko sauce" on the bottom which was like sweet soy sauce. The coconut flakes surprisingly went well with the raw tuna and the roll as it added texture and sweetness to the soft inside of the roll. The shrimp tempura was warm and it was so delightful biting in. Lollipop Roll (2/5): This roll had a mixture of 3 different raw fish inside and it was wrapped around a whole cucumber. The appearance was cute but honestly the taste was lacking and bland. The fish wasn't seasoned well and the sauce it came with was bland. The cucumber was too thick and crunchy and didn't go well with the soft fish. This was $30 a roll for 6 pieces that wasn't filling at all. If you're on a diet this would be a good choice lol but not tasty at all. I wouldn't get this.

Sandfish is always such a treat! The Sandfish Roll is my absolute favorite -- I order it every time. They share a few similar menu items with The Venue since they're sister restaurants, but Sandfish definitely has its own unique dishes and style that make it special. I really enjoy the atmosphere here. The outdoor seating is cozy and relaxing, and the music adds such a nice touch without being overwhelming. The service is always great, and the food never disappoints. Whether you're stopping by for sushi, drinks, or a laid-back dinner, Sandfish has a vibe that keeps me coming back. Highly recommend!

Went to this spot on a whim. Reviews were decent and we were craving sushi. Apparently, reservations are a commonality here. But we were able to be seated for an hour and a half. The inside has dim lighting with a fully stocked bar and small tables scattered along the walls. Seems like an ideal date spot, given the mood lighting and price. Service was amazing. Felt like our server was specifically dedicated to fulfilling our needs and open to any questions we may have. He was friendly and attentive, notably so, probably due to the intimacy of the setting. I appreciated being asked about any allergies which were diligently noted. I do want to note the restaurant comes across as being an elevated experience but you're still given disposable chopsticks to use. The drinks offered looked intriguing but I prefer water when trying a new sushi spot. Taste wise, I wasn't blown away. Granted, we only chose three options from the menu: yellowtail nigiri, lollipop, and Robusutā. They did taste fresh but given the descriptions on the menu, I guess my expectations were high. Or perhaps I could have chosen better options? I will say the presentation of the lollipop roll was cute. But we got pretty full with what we had and the prices on the menu kind of thwarted our desire to try anything else. Overall, the prices are daunting, the service was great, but the food didn't make my taste buds dance. I would caution that the parking is minimal. No lot designated for the restaurant. You've got to luck out with street parking. And there is a gender neutral restroom. Small but relatively clean. It did feel odd that it was located just a few steps away from a table where people were dining.

This is the email receipt I received after the fact. The subtotal does add up but there shouldn't have been a discrepancy in the first place

    Sandfish Reviews in Other Languages

    Ask the Community - Sandfish

    How is the dress code/policy?

At their restaurant in Palm Springs, since Covid, anything goes. The dress code has been relaxed. Some people come in with shorts , whereas other people are wearing dresses. As long as you are not wearing a bathing suit, you are good to go! Enjoy!

Is there non fish items for the sushi haters?

There are! We came with the intention of my wife getting non-fish items, and there were plenty for her to try.

Do they have a happy hour?

    They do not.

Do they offer imitation crab as well as real for their rolls in case we have allergic?

I do not know but encourage you to call and ask.

    Is this place super expensive?

Yes, Overly. We spend a lot on eating out... this place is overpriced, but they are the only sushi restaurant like it in the area, so I guess they can get away with it. Our last meal here was $500 for 2 people for Omakase and 2 drinks each.

Is this a place to host a nice dinner or more of a smaller casual but amazing dinner kinda spot? Looking for sushi reservations to feed about 15 people during a wedding celebration!

It might be tricky but I would ask them. There's definitely room outside but I don't know about inside. Definitely ask them!

Option to sub white sushi rice for brown?

I can't say for sure, but I don't remember seeing that option on the menu and it was never offered by our server.

Is there a charge to bring your own bottle?

Yes, the corkage fee is $35

    Proof of vax still needed?

The state is Arizona has removed restrictions for all restaurants and businesses. Masks optional and few if any wear them. No one has asked for proof of vaccinations since we arrived this week.

Do they have any cooked items? My wife wants the sushi, but I'm not a sushi eater.

Sure they do. They have an amazing octopus appetizer and other options. Check out there menu. https://sandfishps.com/sushi-menu

Do you need proof of vaccination for both indoor and outdoor reservations?

You don't need proof if you're dining outside

Do you need reservations to sit at the bar?

I did not need a reservation to sit at the bar; if you are walk-in, they sit you at the bar while you (should you choose to) wait for a table.

Do we HAVE to make a reservation?

    Yes

During this Covid time is there AC for the indoor social distancing seating? How cold is it?

Approximately 71.425 degrees on a sunny day.

    Is there outside dining?

Yes, they have a small patio, make a reservation!

    Is the patio dog friendly?

    Yes

    Do they have REAL wasabi?

They do, though the freshness of the fish really makes it unnecessary.

Can you eat at the bar if you can't get a reservation?

Yes. Watch the mixologist create the drinks.

Does this place have an All you can eat option?

No! And it's not cheap either, but it's quite possibly top 3 sushi places I've visited.
