Very cute rooftop bar with great decor and attentive staff. Great views and a menu for light bites and drinks. Full bar. My date and I stayed here for one night and we decided to check the rooftop, to my surprise I had this saved as one of my want to go to on Google but never had the chance to. I love lpve the decor and the fan they had blowing by the bar. I would definitely reccomend for a date night, get together, or hanging with friends.
Sandbar Rooftop has been one of my go-to rooftop bars in recent years. It's on top of a Hilton hotel, with a cool, beachy vibe with amazing views of the Empire State Building. It's the perfect spot to come with a group of friends on a nice, warm evening out. The weather's been up and down recently, though, but even with undesirable weather, they have coverings, so it's been ok. I just went again last month with a group of friends for reunion drinks and we had a great time catching up. The Summer Spritzes ($18+ each) were good and similar in terms of price range to cocktails at other rooftop bars in the city. The service wasn't the most attentive and I think we would've ordered more if they'd come around more. I do love the atmosphere and hope to be back again soon.
The food we had was awesome: a cheese plate and a tuna appetizer plate. My date gave the food the yum yum seal of approval. The service was good. Initially they asked if we had a reservation. [Make one if you can] We didn't have one, so the hostess was initially going to seat us at a standing hightop, but the she spotted a seated hightop that was avaliable luckily. The place is lively, but you can have a conversation without having to yell at each other. And the decor is very clean yet tropical. Our service was extremely attentive. Constant water provided and speedy food service.
Such a cute place for date nights. Decor was cute and set for the holiday season. Really enjoyed the view from our seats. It was really gorgeous especially at night. I also had the flatbread, those are good too! Our server was very sweet and helpful! Will be coming back and see what it looks out after the holidays
Torn about this review. So the pros: the guy who seats you is accommodating, respectful and kind. The place is very nicely decorated and charming. The waitresses are very friendly and attentive as much as they can even tho it's busy. Why I would probably not go back: 1. Food selection was LACKING. There's a cheese platter, pretzel bites and tuna tartar over some rice and pizza ... we were hungry so it didn't feel good. 2. When servers are busy you wait a long time I loved the look of place but we left hungry and we aren't chips people.
Tucked atop the Hilton like a well-kept secret is this charming little rooftop spot -- part lounge, part urban escape. The vibe? Totally Instagrammable. Think: cute decor with a dash of city chic, plus a cozy enclosure that saved the day when Saturday skies turned moody and dramatic (yes, it rained -- no, our good time was *not* ruined). Major props to the staff for springing into action faster than my group spotting the drink menu. Speaking of drinks -- they don't mess around. Strong, well-made, and dangerously good. The shareables and appetizers were solid too -- think elevated bites perfect for soaking up the cocktails or just grazing while taking in those skyline views. It's definitely on the pricier side, but hey, you're sipping rooftop margaritas with a view -- not grabbing dollar tacos in a parking lot. Worth it for the vibes alone. All in all? Good food, strong drinks, great views, and rain-proof charm. Would absolutely come back -- preferably with sunglasses and a second round on the way.
We hosted a birthday party here initially reserving for 15 people but about 25 people ended up coming and there were no issues with accommodating the additional headcount. The staff made it work and gave us a massive space. The space was everything that I was looking for (1) a rooftop (2) no reservation fee for large parties (3) feels like a private party (4) vibes. I made the reservation online and added a package for champagne and sparklers plus a small cake. It cost about $80 which was worth it imo. The cost of the package was netted from the final bill, so essentially it was "free". We chose the side that had the "good vibes" sign and took up the entire area. The only qualm I had was that this was a table service spot and while there was a bar in the middle, there are no bar tabs allowed. So everything fell under my card and yup you can imagine it was pricey. There was enough sitting and standing room that made it perfect for a bunch of people to talk, eat and be comfortable. We ordered a few food items but unfortunately didn't get to try the food since we were entertaining but I heard it was good. There were two restrooms and they were both clean and spacious. If you're looking to host a party, I would HIGHLY recommend this spot. Great service and vibes.
What a fun bar! They have a beach chic decor, which ties in nicely as a summer theme. They did not have happy hour, but most cocktails were around $18-19. They do have food on the menu. I tried the margarita pizza, which you can share with at least 2 people. I liked the pizza (8/10) because the crust was soft and flavorful. I tried the Magic Hour and the Bowrider. My favorite drink was the Bowrider. It was a spin on a Mai Thai, but it had great flavor if you like tropical drinks. The Magic Hour was also really tasty. The Aperol was not overpowering, and the drink had gold glitter in it (so cute!) The rooftop opens at 4pm. We had no reservation, but there was seating immediately. The staff were attentive and fun! I will definitely go back.
Okay Guys! I went here last week, my closest friend brought me to this paradise a very cozy ambiance, and you can see the whole Empire State. And also the crew/staff there are very friendly and pretty . Thank you for accommodating us! I definitely come back here! And waaaaaait I almost forgot you should try their drinks and foods too such a heaven taste.
I loved the ambiance of the bar! It's at a top of a hotel, and the theme of the entire bar is the beach. There are various seating areas, with creative twists. There are comfortable couches, standing tables, and even swings to sit at. The staff were friendly, and offered us a seat at the couch even though we did not have a reservation on a Friday night. The Breakwater cocktail was simply amazing. The dim lighting, lively yet intimate atmosphere, and the rooftop views all contributed to a wonderful experience.
This view didn't disappoint since it was a party of ten and we was celebrating a birthday... The bar and the weather was nice but still a bit warm with the I imagine this bar is even better when the weather is nice and cool to open the roof, but we expected the music to be a bit louder not that quiet to the point we can hear others conversations but still we had a great time. Service was good, drinks were good, the cheese board and the Nutella pinsa was absolutely delicious! And sorry we didn't take any pictures completely forgot because of the drinks was that good so I managed to take one picture at the end which sum up a blessed Celebration night!
First of all to get to the bar itself was very confusing. We didn't see the elevator that had a sandbar sign so we took a different elevator and it didn't go the rooftop. So, i think only the last elevator that has a sandbar sign goes to the rooftop. When you make a reservation they charge $25/guest and they use that money to your bill, so i think you have to get food or drinks worth $25/guest and they also give you a limited seating time. This place is very small. In videos it looked like a big place with open space, but there was no good view. It is surrounded by buildings, but you can see empire state building. This place has a beach vibes and one area has a 4 swings where you can seat and have a drink. Service is very bad i must say. Servers were very slow and if you ask them something, they start making faces. We asked for water which we never recieved. They are very slow. Drinks were okay. Two of my friends got same drinks but one tasted like juice and other one you can taste the alcohol. There is no consistency. Food was good. The portion for tuna was very little. I don't think i will be comming back to this place.
Worst run operations I've ever seen. The elevator cannot be called. You just wait until it decides to magically arrive at the lobby. There's no button, no way to call it, and no way to go from any other elevator or staircase. Additionally, my father asked the staff about this and she sarcastically said "have a little patience" Why don't you have some good manners and a well run system instead of being rude and lazy about your job.
Upon stepping in decor was fabulous. We visited at night. The light was a great touch. We only had drinks, as service was really slow. We weren't understanding because the place was not packed at all. I will say the bartender has a fabulous pour. They do serve food but, we did not indulge. I'd stop through again for some rooftop action with no cover. read more
This was a cute spot. The decor is very nautical and plenty of photo opts. The overview of the city was nice and great for people new to the city. The staff was meh we were told we couldn't order directly at the bar. We had to have a seat and the server would take our drink order. Which was weird and the time it took to bring the drinks was crazy becuase the place was empty. But we think it was just a way to get gratuity. Seems like they may have a problem with people tipping, no big deal but keep that in mind if you just want a bar experience. read more

Came here on a work trip with a very large group of people and Sandbar was extremely kind and gracious despite us being a large group that kept growing! Located on the top floor of Hilton New York, Fashion District, you are met with a beachy lounge with 360 views! They have an extensive menu of drinks and food, a little of something for everyone. A few of us had a few bottles of Wolffer Estates Summer in a Bottle, a rose local to the Hamptons. This is a great spot for a relaxed outing or even a date night - try out the swings! read more

Sigh! I saw this place online prior to visiting NY and from what I gathered, I couldn't wait to visit. It didn't take long for me to regret my decision. Long story long..hear me out: when I arrived, they initially told me they only had high top tables, with no chairs, since I didn't make a reservation. I would have preferred to sit, but cool. They then realized that there was seating available on the patio. They took me to my seat and I assume they forgot about me. After about 15-20 minutes, I went to the bar and let them know that no one came back to ask me what I'd like to order. I ordered my drinks there, then went back to my table to wait for them to bring them to me. They brought the drinks and ONCE AGAIN forgot about me! After once again waiting for over an hour this time , I took it upon my self to find someone to give me my check. Unacceptable! Luckily, the drinks were delicious and the views were absolutely amazing. I could have sat there all night just to look at all the buildings. The bar was also decorated super cute. Swings, comfy couches, the works. Perfect place to take pics. Nonetheless, it should go without saying that I was highly disappointed in my experience. Had this rooftop on my list since it opened. I know it has only been a few years, I believe they opened during COVID or right after. Very chic ambiance, definitely giving Hampton vibes, and chill vibes. I came here to meet a friend on a Friday evening. It was not crowded. We had reservations and I was seated right away. Super super chill vibes. Music was low, so it was easy to have a conversation. The rooftop also has the option of being covered, as when we were there it was a bit of a drizzle for a bit and they were able to pull over the covers. The drinks were super refreshing!! The food was OK. We had the margarita pizza. I would come back if I'm looking for a chill vibe or to catch up with a friend. read more
Honestly, I felt like this place was overrated. I went on a Sunday night since I have been staying at the Hilton and wanted to check it out. The drinks are all around $20, which feels normal for NYC and normal for a hotel bar. However, this drink did not live up to my expectations, and even if it had been half the price, I still would not have been pleased. I felt like the service for a Sunday night was also quite underrated. I went by myself and it was about thirty minutes before I was able to get my first drink. I think they were understaffed as I saw the server literally running. It felt like it was very difficult to get attention too. It was not a pleasant night weather-wise either, so there was no outdoor ambiance either. It was actually uncomfortably warm in the bar. Overall, I was not too pleased with the experience. I wanted to give it a try since it was in my hotel, but I don't think I would go back even if I was staying in the building again. read more

My first time in NYC and I couldn't miss visiting rooftops there! I went to Sandbar Rooftop with my boyfriend before we went to Yankees Game. It was a pre-game! This rooftop is absolutely beautiful and cute, I loved those swings. Also, The staff was so kind, helpful, and attentive. The views are amazing and we can see the Empire State Building from there. We ordered two different dishes and both were made with fresh ingredients and so beautifully presented! They were terrific! The charcuterie board was my favorite! We also tried their crafted cocktails. My favorite ones were Breakwater and Maidstone. They were perfect, you have to order them! I only had good moments in NYC and thank you Sandbar Rooftop for being part of them! read more
We stop by for an hour and had a lovely time. Very cute set up with comfy couches and blankets if we are cold. Even sits that are swings. Very beach themed and creative. $25 person minimum. Easy to achieve since one special drink of the day watermelon margarita was $23. The mushroom truffle oil pizza was sizable and delicious $17. Beer was $10. Overall a good experience as long as you don't mind the prices. read more

Came here to meet my homegirl for dinner while I was in town visiting my dad. I like to try new bars especially rooftop bars when I am in town for the summer. This spot is located in the fashion district in Manhattan. The view from the rooftop was very city vibes. The margaritas were strong, the pizza reminded me of &pizza but traditional style. Everything was good and I will go back in the future. read more

We were looking for a rooftop to go to after dinner and came across sandbar. We didn't have a reservation but for a party of 4 we were still seated right away on a weeknight. Since it's an outdoor rooftop weather will obviously effect the experience. For us it was so hot outside and there weren't any fans or air blowing to help cool it down. Instead the various lights and candles used throughout made it seem even hotter than down on the street. I ordered the ocean road drink which was similar to Moscow mule ingredients. It was very tangy from the passion fruit on top of the ginger beer, but not bad overall. We also ordered the s'mores for the table. It was a fun experience and came with extras as well which was nice. There are several couches, swings and lights for good photo ops, and a nice view of the city as well. read more

I've been to Sandbar Rooftop a couple times now. They've pretty much been consistent in their service both times. That's a good thing and a bad thing as you'll see. Their COVID-19 precautions were great. They kept all of the parties well separated. It helps that they're obviously open-air when the weather permits. They provided hand sanitizer at each table as well. This is of major importance and they did that well. The waitresses were STELLAR each time. They were attentive, genuinely pleasant and very accommodating. So kudos to them for positively adding to the experience. As far as food and drink goes, their menu changed slightly between the first time I visited and the second time. I remember having the "Ditch Plains" cocktail both times and the ingredients and presentation had changed. Both were still good though. I'd also recommend the "Ocean Road" (Vodka, Passion Fruit, Lime, Ginger Beer, Candied Ginger). On my second trip to Sandbar, I was with a larger group so we sampled a lot more of the food including the picnic tasting board, the pinsa/pizza (Margherita, Spicy Sopressata and Vegan) and the antipasto. It was all great! You're probably wondering what went wrong. I'll try to explain: They're very strict with their reservation/table times. That's not an issue in and of itself. The issue is that there is no area to continue the visit if you would like to stay longer. You can't hang out by the bar nor is there any other "lounge" area. So when you're time is up, you're summarily kicked out. We tried speaking with gentlemen in blazers (managers?) but they wouldn't accommodate further time. It didn't help that they were a little cold/curt in speaking with us. That same coldness was felt on both visits in the end and the reason I pulled a star. Bottom Line: Go and visit! It's a little expensive but for the most part it's worth it. I recommend heading through in the summer. read more

Came here without a reservation on a Friday night after work and was seated right away. There is a 90 minute time limit on your stay. Overall, the views were spectacular, the drinks were really good - I got the "Cooper's" cocktail and it was very refreshing on a hot summer afternoon. Would come back with larger group or on another date night! read more

Celebrated my friend's bday here. The layout of the place was very nice and had a beachy vibe. It didn't have a nice skyline view of the city, there are definitely rooftops with better views. The staffs are very attentive so we were very satisfied with the service (what saved this review). The foods and drinks were mediocre. We ordered few pizzas, charcuterie board, veggie and dip, a lot of drinks and A LOT of shots (definitely do not recommend the veggie and dip). Overall, the price is a little pricy for how the food and drinks tasted. read more
Sandbar had great views and good drinks. We came here for the views and to check it out since it had not been open when we were here in February of 2020. It opened in March of 2020. Please make a note that it has a retractable roof, so it was warm with a view so that it may be enjoyed any time of the year. It has a beach-themed menu. We had just eaten dinner, so we did not check out the food menu but the drink menu. I had the windbreaker. It was similar to a spicy margarita, but it was pink. I wish I knew what made it pink as I would try to recreate it. My hubby got a glass of Chardonnay since they were out of rose. The seats were comfy, but I wish the benches faced the view. Our seats were cute and fine but not as comfortable as the couch on the wall. There are four very low swings, not meant to swing, in the center, and we went and sat on them for a photo, but it was too dark for a good picture. read more
It's sooo beautiful here with the furniture and natural lighting. When we came, it was raining slightly, so they closed the roofing, but it got really hot and stuffy in there. There was barely any AC. We ordered a few cocktails, which tasted pretty good. Service was attentive, but we did accidentally get water we had to pay for instead of the free tap. Alcohol was a bit pricey, but I guess it's all worth for the vibes and environment. read more

I mainly came here for views and great IG worthy pictures. What a surprise to also be met with great drinks and a flatbread my man still raves about to this day! I made our reservation via Tock (on the same day), $25 deposit required per person. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. I loveeeee that their rooftop is retractable. For my cocktail I went with a Spicy Margarita (made with Casamigos Reposado) which was bomb!!! I actually had 2 being that the first was so good. I like that they give you the option to pick which tequila you want your drink made with for an additional cost of course. My man and I both shared a Bianca flatbread which I didn't care for BUT he raved about it. Even took one to go! read more
Convenient rooftop bar in Chelsea for us to go to. Reservations are for sure recommended - they have timed tables and are pretty quick to remind you of this throughout your time. But service is attentive and the drinks are good/strong - making it match the price point. Of course this is an Instagrammers dream location - but the ambiance at sunset really is beautiful. Love getting some beachy vibes in the city - especially as we approach spring and get warmer weather. A good place for a pre-dinner beverage, or to take friends from out of town. read more

Very fun and trendy spot! This rooftop is right at the top of the Hilton Hotel, it opens up to a pretty expansive area with nice wooden benches and fluffy couches. We got the s'mores experience because it seems fun to roast marshmallows on a rooftop bar. Our experience also came with a drink each. The s'mores experience came with a set of Graham crackers, chocolate, and 6 marshmallows on a stick - we roasted 3 each. When we were down to our last marshmallow we realized we had a bunch of crackers and chocolate left. We asked the service staff if we could get more marshmallows and they said that each service only came with the preset number of marshmallows. It's a bit annoying to me because you can literally get a bag of them for $3. I would've been willing to pay $5 for a bowl of like 6 more marshmallows so this policy seems a bit ridiculous to me. Overall, fun gimmick to try once but it cost of $80 for a drink and 6 marshmallows so not sure if the cost is worth doing it a second time. read more
