Pot of Mofawar, chicken shawarma, baklava
    Leah P.

We were looking for a cafe with beverages and snacks while we waited to pick up my son from practice. Wanted something other than the usual milk tea place and remembered Sana'a just opened. Loved the interior right away. Staff was friendly and price seemed reasonable. Three of us shared a medium pot of Mofawar as well as the chicken shawarma and a slice of baklava. First time tasting Yemeni coffee (will have to get used to the spice sediment at bottom of cup/pot) but everything was delicious. Very excited to have this new coffee spot in town!

We had a party of seven and Sana'a Cafe Elk Grove very accommodating. We were in the niche in the corner and still had room for five more people. I stuck with my traditional Turkish coffee which was delicious. I share my Turkish coffee and got someone else hooked on it. I also got the honeycomb bread. Balance flavors of a cream type cheese inside and honey drizzled over the bread... this is one to get, you won't be disappointed. Even with their grand opening jitters we were all helped quickly and great hospitality.

Strawberry matcha (kind of mixed) and Carmel macchiato latte.

Crowd has died down but the place is still busy. Inside looks clean and has very nice decor with ample seating inside and out. Service was good and the drinks / food came out quickly. We got the Carmel macchiato, strawberry matcha and a Dubai cheesecake. The Carmel macchiato latte is great, just the right amount of sweetness and coffee. Wasn't watered down and had perfect amount of ice to where it wasn't just ice with little of the drink. The strawberry matcha was disappointing, you can taste the matcha but that's where it ends. No hint of strawberry, it wasn't sweet, and honestly just tasted like matcha on top of milk. The Dubai cheesecake was okay, sweet and a hint of spice that I'm not too keen of. Most of the drinks seem to be a dollar more for just being iced. Overall, decent if you get the right drink but may break the budget.

I tried the biscoff latte, chicken musakhan rollup, and pistachio milk cake. Also shown - oreo cheesecake

Mini exotic getaway in a cup! Sanaa Cafe has opened in Elk Grove! Wheter you are craving savory snacks - like my fave chicken musakhan (shredded chicken rollup with onions and sumac for a citrusy flavor in a toasted lavosh bread) to sweet like their pistachio milk cake (similar to tres leches cake) and even baklava - this place has your cravings covered. They have he usual lattes or the biscoff latte, too...but my all time fave is their Yemeni Chai - which can be done as a proper Yemeni tea service in a teapot and traditional cups...to savor and elevate your break time.

Sana'a Cafe is a unique Middle Eastern coffee shop that's a fresh welcome to Elk Grove's growing restaurant scene. Upon entering, the cafe, we heard upbeat music and felt transported to another place with their decorations. There are many tables and comfortable chairs. The service is fast and the prices were reasonable; but be careful, all the à la cart food items adds up really fast. I like the ceramic drink cups, the heavier plates, and the round wooden serving tray. They are open late and that's perfect given that many places close by 9/10pm in the area. Even in the later evenings, they had a good stock available. I've had many of their drinks and food and they all taste great! My favorite drink is the hot Biscoff Latte with Oat Milk. My favorite food is the Dubai Milkcake. Having been to other similar places like this outside of California, Sana'a Cafe feels authentic and is at par with other high quality cafés.

Came into the area for an event and wanted a little pick-me-up, so I searched for something close by with great reviews. Saan Coffee popped up and I figured let's see what all the hype is about... and honestly, this place didn't disappoint at all. The service was amazing and super prompt. The interior is decorated really nicely too -- clean, modern, and a vibe you can actually relax in. I'm still pretty new to the whole coffee journey so I kept it simple and ordered a vanilla latte, and it was spot on. Smooth, balanced, and exactly what I needed. Overall, great stop, friendly people, and a latte that hit the spot. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area again.

Finally a coffee shop that stays open past 4pm! This place is insane and I mean it in the best way possible. I ordered a pistacchio Latte and WOW. It was incredible it was perfectly sweet and balanced and the coffee itself tasted amazing. Youre really getting a quality craft coffee here. The location is great off the free way for people driving in and out of town and there is plenty of parking. The inside is of course very pretty and was set up to maximize seating which is very welcoming. I ended up coming back for the Biscoff Coffee and that too was YUMMY! Dont forget to try a pastry they are also very delish. This place is a solid coffee shop and I see it lasting in elk grove for a really long time as they have championed good coffee, flavoring and most importantly consistency!

I've been here twice and IM IN LOVE!!! Everything about this cafe is so welcoming, from the warm lighting, long hours, incredible service, free WiFi, both sweet and savory food options, and various specialty drinks. Both visits the store was packed with customers! There's lots of seating (indoor and outdoor), tables, and even a private area suitable for bigger parties. So beautifully decorated and with intention of presenting Yemen culture. The ambiance is unmatched. MashAllah. The cashier was very patient and friendly, gave us honest recommendations. Baristas work so efficiently, you can see them pulling espresso shots, warming up food, and topping off drinks with care. You're given a buzzer to notify you when your drinks are ready, which is convenient since it's so busy and there's outdoor seating. I also noticed how attentive the workers are, wiping down tables, refilling necessities, pushing in chairs, and even checking in with customer experiences. Great for gatherings of any kind, whether it's to study, mingle with friends, or even to play card games (which several parties were). They are focused on providing that sense of community within their cafe. Yemeni Mocha Cookie Latte - I got this drink with medium sweetness. Immediately the bold and spice flavor of their roast woke my tastebuds. I LOVE strong coffee and they delivered just that! However, the mocha and cookie components were not present in the flavor profile. And the texture of some sips were gritty. Banana Matcha Latte - Average, nothing crazy. The matcha flavor is pretty light, not too sweet. I will say their banana purée is delicious, you can tell it's made fresh and with real fruit. Which I admire because most places use artificial sweeteners/syrups. However, it does then add chunks of banana to the drink. If you like banana flavored drinks, worth a try! Peppermint Mocha - 10/10 WOW. PHENOMENAL. So delicious, I dream about it. Once again, I got medium sweetness and the espresso just as wonderful as I remembered. The sweetness of the peppermint creates balance to the drink. The mint is NOT overpowering or anything like toothpaste. It's more like a warm hug to the chocolatey notes. Perfect pairing. I finished it within 2 minutes and was tempted to buy another immediately after finishing every last drop. I have to praise this cafe for making all of their drinks with light ice as default, you get your money's worth with every sip! I will happily be a loyal returning customer. I hope the Peppermint Mocha stays and is not seasonal! For this location to be so new and already so successful speaks volumes about the quality of the experience. Allahumma Barik!! Stop by to support and for a unique experience, open arms, and delicious drinks!

Went here with my cousins and tried some of their drinks and desserts. It was crowded and there was a long line but the design of the place made us want to stay and check it out. The space has a beautiful Middle Eastern inspired look. We ordered a mango smoothie, iced chai latte, and Spanish latte, all of which we agreed were really good. The honey comb cake was good too. Service was great and we enjoyed hanging out here.

I've been to the Downtown Sac location, and this one in Elk Grove is pretty much a duplicate; I believe they must be a franchise since the interior is the same as the other location in Sac. Although they opened fairly recently, they are getting a TON of business. Even though it was the afternoon, all tables were occupied and the line order was to the door. I tried the Yemeni Latte. They ask what sweetness you want and I opted to try medium, which didn't taste sweet in my opinion. I think the drinks are decent, as well as the service. Nice to have an EG location where you don't have to worry about limited/metered parking!

First time trying this new cafe and the aesthetics are gorgeous. The cafe is decorated in gold, marble, and black. It was packed on a Sunday afternoon. I had a little bit of a wait but I will wait for it if it's a good drink. All of their I had the hot pistachio latte with less pistachio sauce to make it less sweet. It was different but because I've never had Yemen coffee. The coffee beans used were unique. I will try a few more times before I give it an official review. They had a selection of desserts available. I will come back one day to try them.

    Turkish coffee
    Elaine T.

I tried their Turkish coffee. The coffee is definitely on the bitter, very strong side, which may appeal to those who enjoy traditional, intense coffee flavors. It felt authentic and robust, but might be too much if you prefer smoother or sweeter drinks. The cafe can get quite full, and finding a seat may be difficult. Overall, it's a good spot for bold coffee lovers--just be prepared for the bitterness and the crowd.

Service: 3.0 Coffee: 2.4 Ambiance: 4.1 Wednesday mid morning and my daughter notices that Sana'a Cafè is now open, so we drive over. Upon entering (use the LEFT DOOR); there's a vibe that I couldn't pinpoint, but it's cute! There was a slight wait so I decided to look at their pastry display, but nothing was calling out my name, so maybe next time. Now it's our turn to order, I just wanted a coffee and opted for their Turkish coffee (which ended up being a disappointment) and my daughter's Sana'a coffee was okay. My daughter is a foodie and enjoys her coffee but nothing excited her about their coffee. Back to my Turkish coffee, please look at my posted pic, there was so much coffee grinds at the bottom of my cup but when your drinking with a lid and can't see the sut and swallow a huge portion of it then it's not a good experience. ‍

She was extremely put together and professional. I loved everything about her and her company! From the cute business cards, to the cake tasting/presentation, her communication and of course the end result. Amanda made the process very easy for us from choosing cake flavors, the dessert table and design, and even our delicious sugar cookie favors. She met with us a couple times to discuss designs and our vision. She was extremely gracious despite the many changes- I was extremely indecisive. I couldn't decide on our cake size or how many desserts to have at our dessert table (my eyes are bigger than my stomach and I wanted way too much). Amanda helped me select the type of dessert she felt would make sense and also be visually pleasing. A month before the wedding, I finally settled on wedding cake design...or designs. Amanda provided her input, incorporated the different designs I wanted and even tweaked the design and it turned out better than what I (and my husband) wanted. She was a sweetheart from start to finish. Aside from her amazing personality her cakes and desserts are amazing! All of our guests were raving about the desserts and especially the cake. We ended up getting a 4 tier cake with each layer being a different flavor (salted caramel, birthday cake, chocolate, and vanilla with blackberry). I'm sad I did not get to try every layer, but for the two I did. I loved! We even had guests at the wedding that do not like cake enjoy a piece and wanted more! We still get inquiries from family and friends about who made our cake and dessert table. I could not have been more satisfied with Amanda's work and I look forward to using her again for special occasions and parties! Thank you so much Amanda for your service and begin so patient with all of my indecisiveness!

A rich complex flavor. It had a little bit of ginger in it, you could definitely taste the ginger, but it did not overwhelm the rest of the porridge. The chicken was good, and for the mushroom, they used black mushrooms, which have a deeper flavor than regular mushrooms. So very good. It looked like a small bowl, but I couldn't finish it. Some came home with me, and it reheated very well. It also came with Chinese donuts to put in the porridge. Chinese donuts are a little bit different. They definitely taste like a doughnut, except they are not sweet at all. They are savory donuts, and are perfect to use as a crouton, so to speak. The green tea was very good, and they didn't overdo it with the lemon, and that hotdog roll that I had later, the pastry was delicious with just a little bit of a "chew" to it, they were definitely high-quality hot dogs, and it wasn't just green onion. They had something mixed in, I'm not sure what it was, but it didn't taste raw like green onion can. Just a great lunch. I'll be back. Thanks.

The cakes here are always a yummy treat. Never too sweet like their sponge cakes and their specialty fruit cakes . Would def come here all the time if I didn't fear being obese or diabetic

Lately though, like the last two months, the pastries have all been being cooked a little longer maybe? They used to always be white on the bottom still, but now they are light brown. It makes them too crunchy. Just wanted to add this as I'd love for them to go back to the way they were before, soft and cooked a little less long.

However, the owner is super passionate with his work and is originally from Japan so you know he perfected his products before opening this bakery. Asides from this one, this family business has other stores in Japan and India. My favorite is the sweet cream cheese even though Mahoroba is known for their Kobe cream, which are both stuffed with fillings. You can say that they don't skimp. It's hard to leave without purchasing a box of goodies even though they do run out super early, especially on the weekends. If you aren't big on sweets, they have savory items. The meatball pan is my favorite the meatballs just does really well with the bread. Not going to lie, but I used to work here when they first opened in 2009 and I would never get tired of eating the meatball pan or the green tea melon pan during my break. After all these years, I would have a craving from time to time so I always return and say hello to the owner. Besides, they make a lovely goodie box for a party and I always throw in a bag of dinner rolls because the quality of their bread is so soft and delicious. I'll be lucky if I still have 1/4 of the bag by the time I get home.
