This is the only brand I would get for my kitchen hood. I bought one 25years ago and it is still working. When I needed to get another hood for my new construction, I went and bought a newer model of the same brand. They pact in more features than I anticipated. The lowest fan speed is very quiet and the highest speed can really suck. You can control the fan speed by just waving your hand in front of the hood. It is well built with high quality. Of course, the price does reflect the quality but I totally believe it is worth the money. I've read some reviews about bad store service but my experience was just the opposite. If you want the best range hood in the market that ACTUALLY works, this is THE best place to get it. When I say "actually works" I mean that your range hood will suck the smell, odors and grease out of your kitchen. The range hoods here are extremely strong and can suck up a pan lid. The CFMs of the range hood are from 750ish plus. That's 2X or more CFM than the range hoods at your normal big box stores. The range hoods from the big box stores are usually just for style. Apparently this store is the head quarters and I would have to say that the interior of the place definitely looks like a warehouse. They have some models of range hood connected and powered so you can play around and test it. They come in different styles, color, and power but all of them are pretty strong, even the entry level models. Parking is street parking only so it's not many spots. There is no dedicated parking lot. Pricing is on the expensive side, you can get a range hood from a big box store for like 100 dollars, but here it's like 450+. Please do not even think of this vendor. It is horrid. I paid for the hood and the installation services; however the owner told me that I need to talk to the installation guy because he had nothing to do with the company. He not only removed but cut half of my cabinet out without replacing it, leaving an open gap on the side. See the picture for yourself. We were in store shopping for a new vent. The sale lady, Lisa, recommended an opened box at much discounted price. It was marked as final sale and no exchange. While we were checking for the condition, another sale lady, Grace , came and yelled at us saying we should stop comparing. My partner said to her giving us time for checking. The original sale lady, Lisa, tried to comfort my partner by finalizing the sale. Not because Lisa's good service we would leave the store right away. I purchased a water softener from them and have them installed last year after my old one broke down after 10 year using. The installation was good and working but after just 13 months, the water start leaking from the machine. It is out of 12-month warranty and I have to pay $250 for the repair. This is not acceptable for this softener to break down after only 13 months. The product they are selling is poor quality but not cheap price. Don't buy from this company. read more

Bottom Line: Terrible customer service. The first time we came here, Henry was very nice since it was a no hassle purchase of a under water filtration system. Fast forward to today, We came back to look a the range hoods because we were very impressed with the power of the Asian brand over the American brand. However, This time we had a lot of questions about cfm, installation, warranty, who do we call for repairs, how do we register the product, etc. Henry's answers were short, rude-like, impatient, and uninformative. He appeared annoyed with us. We were uncertain since we weren't shopping at Lowe's and can't return the hood if it didn't work for us. Nevertheless, he did not provide any reassurance. A must have for any Chinese household. If you need a range hood that actually removes smoke and smell, San Yang Pai is the best bang for your buck. These are not the same piece of crap hoods you find at American stores. They have silver or white, 30 or 36 inches in most models. The prices they say are not the lowest, so bust out your Chinatown bargaining skills. And they do take credit card. If you have some handy skills, you can save money on the price too, They are easy to install. Took me like 15 minutes. I did go to PacAir also and I know they are known as the better company but I really did not want to spend the extra hundreds on something they could provide here. My mom has had the same San Yang Pai hood for almost as long as she has had me. If you cook a lot and your house smells like crap after, upgrade to a San Yang Pai. read more

In addition to the million other things I do, I manage a bunch of rental units in the San Gabriel Valley and the vast majority of my tenants are Asian. There are two things that you learn quickly in my position: 1) Most Asian tenants don't use a dishwasher, except as a drying rack. 2) If you are going to spend money on any major kitchen appliances; get a quality range hood, to protect your property from being damaged from all the cooking grease in the air. San Yang Pai company is the best-known Asian range hood company, and the quality of their products far exceeds other brands. You CAN buy an entry level hood for $30, but believe me, it's worth it to spend a couple hundred dollars on a hood, especially if you want to protect a few thousand dollars worth of cabinets you've installed in a kitchen. If you come into San Yang Pai, the sales people are nice and they'll answer your questions. You can get by if you're only an English speaker, but it won't hurt you to bring a Chinese-speaking person with you. The prices are posted on the floor samples (which actually work so you can get a sense of how loud/strong the hoods are). Pricing includes installation. Buy more than one item and you can probably get a discount, too. They also sell reverse osmosis water filters and a few other massage products, but I've only been here for their hoods. read more

Bad company practice. They won't honor the warranty like they promised ten years ago. We were told that the oil dish replacement is free as long as we have the receipt. The lady at the store denied the same claim and simply saying "things had changed". So please be aware, they can change whatever they claim after you make a purchase. Their range hoods are "okay." Definitely better than American brands, and definitely not as good as PacAir. (No, I don't work for Pacair and I used to have a San Yang range hood.) I said my husband cooks and we are looking for a 30 inch range hood. She just walked to one range hood, pointed at it, and said, "If you don't cook a lot, just buy this. This is good enough." Seriously? What are the features of that range hood? What is the cfm? Do you have any demonstrations of how good that range hood's suction is? How do you know that "we don't cook a lot?" Just because my husband is an American doesn't mean we don't cook! Good thing we just came from Pacair and Pacair demonstrated San Yang's range hoods in detail, and did a comp between their own, Fotile, and San Yang's range hood. My husband and I ended up beelining our way back to Pacair and picked up one right away. Pacair is 2.5x as expensive as San Yang, but the extra 400 dollars is worth it. read more

We have had their hood for 4 yrs and we haven't had to clean the oil pan once!! You might think it's great but where did all the oil go? Is it supposed to suck the grease and oils in the air and blow it outside? Not a single drop of oil in the oil collection pan! My cabinets around the stove are getting sticky though. We cook normally like the rest of the people. Nothing super heavy but we still cook a few times every week. read more

We purchased a range hood here a few years ago as a recommendation from a friend and used it 10 times before it died. I think it was a faulty hood from the get go. I attempted to find an appliance repairman but everyone I called said they don't fix range hoods. I finally called San Yang Pai today (which I should've done when it first started to show signs of malfunctioning) to see if they could recommend a repairman. Gordon, the rep I spoke to, said they could send someone out but it's probably just a simple part that would need to be replaced without the assistance of a technician. He suggested we bring in the switch panel and come by the store to buy the part ($15). When we got there, Gordon and another colleague, took our switch panel and before we knew it, they had replaced the circuit board and everything was good as new... and this was all at no cost! They didn't even charge us for the circuit board. Keep in mind, I'm not Chinese nor do I speak Mandarin or Cantonese. My fiancé and I did not need to go into this store with a native speaker. Gordon and his colleague spoke English well and provided excellent customer service. Nowadays, with access to online reviews and a plethora of product choices, I'm more interested in giving my business to honest people who respect and take care of their customer rather than finding the best product for my money...although, the power of the fan on our hood is amazing. read more

I went to the store with a Chinese speaking relative and a happy owner of a hood bought from the store in the past. Another friend had bought and had it installed two years ago and highly recommended this store. I have been to both houses who owned the hoods bought from this store. Asian cooking consists of both steamy and smoke (fried) food thereby necessitating such powerful machines. I have seen over and over hoods from Pacific (over priced by name), Lowes, Best Buy, HomeD, Ikea, all seem to be weak below 500cfm running less than 1000 rpm fans at the most and priced nearly for what I bought in this store. My hood had over 760cfm at over 1650 rpm dual fans. Sure you can get over 800 - 1000 cfm but they will be priced over a grand. You really don't need that for a modest 12 x 10 kitchen. So any way, the model I bought also has strategically placed oil catchers so they don't drip in your stove. The sales person although in broken English was able to show me all the features and how to maintain and clean your hood properly. Guys, you gotta learn how to clean your equipment (and at a very conservative frequency unless you cook as often as restaurants) as in any other appliance. So anyway, I paid a good price discounted plus an install the next day (includes boring a hole and channel the flex pipe thru my roof to vent) all completed in 2 hours. So all in all parts and labor out the door for 800 bucks complete install. Sorry guys I will have to withhold the model as you will have to work your charm to get a discount on any item you choose. Your discount may be different from mine and gives sales leg room to play the numbers with you as well. - Almost forgot - sucking power demo from the fan that can hold different pan covers at high power. - The outside corners of the hood are not welded or fused at the corners, they are one piece as if they were folded. Less chance of breaking apart in the seams. - Led light has an ambient light sensor. - 10 yrs limited parts warranty in contract. - Sales even gave me spare oil catch parts so I won't have to drive down to SG from SFV. read more
