This is just one area I had some bites in my neck, stomach and arms. :/

I was a bit hesitant to stay at this motel for our very short trip to solvang but we said what's the worst that can come from 1 night. The person at front desk was quick and kind. This place was close to the places in our itinerary but STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOTEL if you're not trying to wake up with a bunch of bite marks all over. It truly grosses me out just thinking about the insect that was over my body. I was really hoping for a great experience. :/

I had an interesting time with staying at the San Marcos. I was originally trying to stay in Solvang but I guess there was a car show and fire fighters staying in town so I didn't have a place to stay. After call after call I came across 1 available room at the San Marcos. The front desk told me they would only hold it for 15 minutes so I had to hurry. The motel is really old and outdated. On the inside there are strange things. A weird white box that the direct tv receiver sits on. We were in room 24 so we had our own parking and privacy but the room needed updating. The bathroom light flickered and shower was coming apart. Windows have been updated and there was a flatscreen tv but the picture was poor. If your needing some visual stimulation they are paying for you to watch plenty of pornos (found these by accident). The room has a fridge and microwave (you plug in as needed). Check out is 11:00am and you leave the key in the room. The pool is filled with gravel and there is a ton of construction behind the place. The experience is one I won't forget and I suppose I would stay here again if I absolutely had to.

Not fancy (AT ALL), but a very clean room with a nice bed for our 1 night stay after visiting Solvang.

I typically try to stay at Hilton properties when I travel as much as I can. This location is very clean, has a modern feel and it seems remodeled recently, the staff is very friendly as well. Hampton Inn & Suites also give you a nice complementary breakfast and free parking, this is a great value. My room was very nice, clean, modern style. The rooms come with a mini fridge, coffee maker as well as a microwave, everything you need. The bed and pillows are comfy, the bathroom is nice and large with a full glass shower. This property also has a small Business center, a nice lobby, a pantry for snacks and misc. items. They also have a great gym here, which is a big plus in my book. They have a Precor FTS glide multi function weight machine as well as free weights, treadmills, elliptical machines and a Peloton bike. The only thing that I would improve here is adding a second bench so if there are more than one person trying to use it, other than that a great gym and have all you need for a great workout. Next time I am in the area, I will for sure be staying here once again, great property. Enjoy!

The inn was a 10 minute walk from the marathon shuttle. The design of each detail is thoughtful and fun, from their lobby to the room, fitness center, and lounge. Each choice from color palette, font, and furniture made our stay feel like a little escape instead of being at a big corporation. We also visited the lounge for late night snacks and drinks and the bartender was great. Our only two complaints were the showerhead and barn door. The showerhead is a rainfall style, so for me, it wasn't angled or pressured enough to get the wash I prefer, and the barn door will slam against the countertop with the slightest outward pressure. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated our stay.

One was inside, near the bed next to the balcony door, and the other was outside on the balcony, next to a small pile of cigarette butts. The sofa had a large dark stain with what looked like chocolate shavings. In the bathroom, fresh towels were placed on top of an exposed dirty pipe in one of the cubbies under the sink vanity. I'm curious to know why there are any exposed pipes in the first place. I'm sure having exposed pipes violates multiple city and health codes. One unique thing I noticed at this Marriott hotel was that the room had Febreze Car Clip Air Fresheners attached to the AC vents. I've never seen this at any other hotel. I'm not sure if this is standard practice at this hotel or if it was added to this particular room because the previous guest smoked in it. I emailed the hotel general manager, never received a reply or courtesy call. This is not what we expected from a reputable brand like Marriott.

Breakfast was great - the usual waffle maker, scrambled eggs (obviously made from powder, but still ok), bacon, sausage, yogurt, fruit, juices, biscuits and gravy, cold cereal and more. The only complaint I had was the tea bags were all caffeinated. The room was clean and spacious; with a refrigerator, coffee pot and microwave oven. Cons: traffic noise even on the non-freeway side. It wasn't bad between 11pm and 5am, even with the window open, but at 5am the truck traffic started. There is also a large gas station right across the street, and semi trucks park in front of the inn at night. This was a non-smoking room - however, people obviously smoke in the enclosed hallway and the odor of smoke remains. There were a few issues in the room - grout around the tub was missing and small amounts of mold were beginning to appear. The AC unit was very loud and it smelled like the filter needed to be replaced. Noise from the neighbors was only when the shower was being used. The hotel staff were mostly wonderful - except at check-in late afternoon. The male clerk seemed flustered, commented that there were no guarantees for early check-in, even though we had gotten approval when we booked. He ended up making 3 phone calls before we were able to check in - and did not give me any information while I was waiting, and did not apologize fore the wait which I would have expected. When I called to ask where the nearest ice machine was, he said all the way down in the lobby - but I found that there was one on the next floor down which was much more convenient. Not sure why he didn't direct me to a closer one. All in all, I would stay here again - but would probably request a different room - when booked, the site stated there was a mountain view. The view is of the parking lot, street, gas station and some other businesses and homes. No mountains there! But it is on the main street of Buellton within walking distance of businesses and restaurants.

Cute and affordable spot!…read more My boyfriend and I found this spot through airbnb and thought it was a great find as it's close to Solvang, yet affordable. They contacted me through airbnb and sent an email 15 minutes before check in (3pm) to provide me with the information and code. It's self check-in which was nice since we didn't arrive till 10pm. Check in is from 3pm to 12am. The room was a bit small, but it had a cozy feel to it. It felt clean and organized. There's a table, mini coffee maker, and fridge. The fridge kept making a loud and annoying sound so we actually unplugged it. The AC was on auto, but every time it turned on, it released a smell throughout the whole room. It smelt of old florals. The scent was so strong, it caused a headache. We had to turn the AC off which left the room stuffy. The WiFi worked great and there's a basket with corn hole pouches you can play outside. There's also a fire pit outside. It was a nice spot given that it's a 5-10 minute drive from Solvang. It's definitely worth the price.

Hotel Hygge is what you get when you cross Airbnb with a motel. Everything is contactless and there's no front desk, so someone emails you at the start of your stay with information including your room number and keypad code. Check-in starts at 3pm. The wife and I were anxiously waiting for the email, but it didn't come until 3:10. They also didn't pick up when we tried to call, but they eventually returned our text message, so allow for a bit of delay in reaching them. The room was fine but small. There was a TV, mini fridge with no freezer section, small coffee maker that didn't work well, and a small table over the fridge that had barely enough room for me to sit at to use my laptop. Lighting was a bit too dim. The free WiFi was reliable and fast enough for streaming. The wall heater worked amazingly well. In the bathroom, the sink was very low and the shower pressure was only strong when the water was on the cold setting. Noise isolation was average - we heard some plumbing and muffled conversation from the adjacent unit, but people were generally respectful. There's a common room with an ice machine, microwave, and extras like toilet paper and cutlery for guests to use. Outside there are three fire pits, a bike station with tools and a pump, a bocce ball court, and cornhole boards. The cornhole bean bags are easy to miss - they're actually in a little bucket in each room. Guests here are also able to use the fitness center at Sideways Inn, the nearby sister hotel. Their fitness center is pretty legit, especially if you're into weight training. 3.5 stars overall. Hotel Hygge was the cheapest place in town by far (at least on the Capital One travel portal that we booked through), so I was willing to overlook a lot of the shortcomings. We even found a bit of hygge for ourselves by the fire pit at night. For the price, this was a reasonable stay!
