Best hotel I've found in Solvang. I've stayed at a different hotel each time visiting Solvang and this is the first I want to repeat. Staff was available and helped me pick the room for my needs before booking. They accommodated an early check in (small fee). Check in and out was easy. The room felt more like a little apartment vs a hotel room. The one we got was large with a nice patio and fire pit. I love that they have an empty fridge and microwave for you to use. The bed was comfy, hot water and good shower head. Clean and well maintained. There is also a clean separate communal restroom to use for #2 if you need it . While a slightly further walk from the downtown area, we had nice issue walking. Give this place a try. They're doing it right!! read more

Solvang is one of the cutest little towns in California. That being said, the tourist attractions are the main economic activity along with the wine. When you combine the two, I'm sure the maintenance of the facilities is quite the task. The checkin was through Cloud beds, which meant there was absolutely no personal contact whatsoever. I checked in via a link, was given a code and viola. The motel has gone through some cosmetic restoration, but I'm not sure it's enough for a 5 star recommendation. The tub was chipped, the paint was chipped in several places and we could hear every step from our upstairs neighbors (well placed rugs or carpet may have been helpful). That being said, it was clean and reasonably priced. I'm sympathetic to the arduous task it must be to maintain an inn with the tourist and inebriated. read more

My family and I stayed at the New Haven Inn in Solvang over the weekend and it was so charming! It is a small 20 unit inn which felt very homey and cozy. The New Haven Inn is located on Alisal Road which is just around the corner from the heart of Solvang where all the shopping and restaurants are located. We stayed in a Queen Suite for 2 nights and it was the perfect size for the 3 of us. The Queen Suite came with a Queen bed in a private room plus a Futon bed in a separate living room. It had a nice big bathroom plus 2 different TVs that were a bit outdated unfortunately. While the room did need some updates, we really enjoyed our stay and were very comfortable - I slept on the Futon and I still got a good night's rest. The room also included a decent sized closet, microwave, refrigerator/freezer and even a coffee maker! There was an ice machine on site too! They offer parking in their parking lot which worked out great both nights for us, but they also offer street parking. The inn was also very quiet at night too which was great! Staff were lovely! They made check in and check out a breeze! They communicated great as well - we accidently left my husband's hoodie behind and they sent me a text notifying me. Luckily, we were able to turn back and grab it. We really appreciated the service! My family and I would definitely stay at the New Haven Inn again! Check them out! read more

Very cute, clean, and convenient little gem just 10 minutes walking distance from the center of the Solvang hub. I feel like our list of cons was about as long as the pros, but nothing that would deter me from staying again! Pros: -Close enough proximity to easily walk around town, but far enough away to filter out the noise and crowds -Quiet neighborhood ambiance -Contactless check-in/check-out process -Convenient/secure parking -Private patios with private firepits make for a nice setting -Affordable for the Sunday night we stayed -Complimentary bike rentals -Complimentary bottles of water in the room -Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, ice bucket, wine glasses & opener included in room -Makeup towels were a very nice touch -Big shower (though it gave a locker room feel) -Comfy bed/pillows and felt very clean overall -Aesthetically pleasing modern decor Cons: -Took a minute to find the property map to locate our room, as it was not in a very obvious location. Would suggest placing a few more maps around the property on the walls. -AC unit was a total nightmare to figure out. At one point the heat just kept rising and would not stop. Once reset though, it worked great. -Furniture and walls were QUITE scuffed up/damaged. -Floor lamp in corner of our room did not work as the cord looked to be cut/ripped? -Nightstand clock/dock did not work because somebody broke it but nobody has replaced it... -Sound insulation sucks. Thankfully we stayed on a quiet Sunday night, but conversations could be clearly heard from all over the property. Our upstairs neighbors woke us up while they were getting ready at 5am. Just something to be mindful of, if it matters to you. -The only table located on our patio was to hide the gas line, away from the firepit. Would be nice to include one with your seating area. -No way to turn off patio light while using the firepit on private patio rooms. The light was BRIGHT and attracted bugs, which killed the mood a bit. Overall, we enjoyed the ease of proximity and affordability of the property. I would recommend this stay to anyone who is easy-going and able to adjust/overlook the small negatives. Took my husband to this Inn for his Birthday weekend. Check-in was easy. They have plenty of parking, some of the spaces might be hard to get out. They have 2 driveways to pull into the Inn. Some people backed in their cars. Luckily when we got there, Tammy checked us in. She gave us the code to get into our room and had the free wi-fit code. In the area across from the office, they had cold waters and ice. Our room #14 was one room away from the street. The room was large and spacious. The bed was veery comfortable. There was a small refrigerator and microwave. They had coffee, but no tea, my husband luckily brought his own. I put the temperature at 68 on cool but in the night, like a lot of places, didn't apply. The bathroom had seen some wear, maybe not the best facets/vanity. The place was walkable to the downtown Solvang but far enough away from any crowds. I would stay here again. read more

The lower rating is due to cleanliness. The bathroom and stains on the bed sheets were the areas of issues. Otherwise, it would be a 4. The facility definitely gives you the quaint holiday Hallmark feel even though decorations are not up yet. You have a choice between checking in with the kiosk or front office. The inn on the outside is welcoming with a cottage vibe. You have fire pits outside that is perfect for this weather. Parking is convenient and great for customers. They have an ice machine and outdoor bathrooms in the common areas. The room was surprisingly modern when you walk in. Everything is set for auto lighting. Here is a LED bathroom mirror! There is a space saver temp control that is pretty loud but gets quieter as it blows longer. The flooring is a beautiful rustic farmhouse laminate, so bring socks! The room is spacious and portioned perfectly with a full bathroom. A refrigerator with a bar area as well as a single closet. Nice older flat screen television with limited channel options. What we didn't like? The walls and ceiling are thin. The people upstairs must have kids, because they won't stop walking around. Since there is not carpeting, the sound resonates throughout our room. The stained sheets and dirty baseboards in the bathroom did not help either. Thank goodness we accidentally booked a double bed room. We slept on the second bed. The location is amazing. It is in walking distance to everything! Seriously, great place if it wasn't the cleanliness issue. As for the thin walls and ceilings, we suggest asking for a top level room when booking. read more

Outstanding stay! The room was big! It had sitting area where we had morning coffee (and the coffee was good) the bed super comfortable, big bathroom, and the piece de la resistance- the fire pit and patio! We got a free upgrade for that but I recommend just paying $30 more per night for a fire pit/patio room. Perfect for a toasty night with a bottle of red vino. I. used to always stay at the Hadsten House but it has changed hands three times and the last time was very disappointing-- plus, New Haven Inn was $60 less per night. If you want a quaint and nice place to stay with an incredible location, New Haven Inn is wonderful!!! The beds and sheets are SO comfortable! The AC works well and having a small kitchen was nice to enjoy the room even more. The firepits around the property are such a nice touch to enjoy the outdoors unless you get a room with a private pit, which looked amazing. We didn't use the free bikes but we will next time! I have traveled a lot. This is one of the best places I have stayed at. We booked a two night stay. First off the staff was amazing! The room was way more than we expected for the price. It was SUPER clean, had a full kitchen, a king size bed, and a private patio with a gas fire pit. We decided to stay for another day. We could not stay in the same room, but the room we stayed it was great too. It didn't have a kitchen, but it did have an amazing view off of the patio. And a gate for the patio would be nice. The bed was way too squishy. 2nd night of stay had some young kiddos upstairs- literally running laps until after 11pm. Quite annoying. Absolutely awful the air conditioner was broken and the worst part was the management knew it was broken . They shouldn't have even rented out the room as it didn't have working air conditioner . We went into the room and all windows were open seemed they knew it was I probably got two hours sleep . Good: -located a short walk to all the "stuff" which cut down on the downtown noise. -contactless check in -fridge and microwave -room was decent sized -the decor was super cute Not so great: -they charge a crazy fee for wanting to check in early or leave late. Which .. fine, but just be aware. I've never stayed somewhere that charges a fee to check in early if they have the room. -the coffee maker is the dinky little one from the olden days where you put the prefilled filter packets in. Sooo .. terrible coffee. I bring my own k-cups everywhere but obviously couldn't use them here. -the bed and pillows were nottttt comfortable, I felt like a 90 year old with the cricks in mahhh neck! -it's like a ghost town, maybe because of all the contactless stuff, there isn't staff onsite all day and night so if you need something during the times they aren't there, too bad. The office is also super hard to find; the signs make no sense. -there are not many amenities here, so the fire pits not having propane or being hooked up was a bummer. -it was pretty stompy with the people above us. -the lamps have a usb port but with the latest few apple products, it will not work with your charger and there is not an outlet within reach of bed. The bad: - Our room was just ... not clean. There was stuff on the towels, dust on the cabinet trims etc. -The bathroom was basically falling apart; the towel racks and toilet paper holder were hanging on by a thread. There were rust stains all over the baseboards and it just kind of looked gross. -The toiletries... just plastic bottles they poured stuff into that they slapped labels on saying shampoo, conditioner or soap. A lot of people have sensitive skin or allergies and regardless, it's just kind of gnarly to put mystery liquid on. For $200+ a night, not what I would have expected. Hotels in Solvang are expensive; I get it. But for close to $600 for two days, I expected a lot more. While we didn't have a terrible time here, I probably would not stay here again. read more

We stayed here two weeks ago. Each room is slightly different. Each room has its own door lock with passcode that you get via text when you check in on line. The hotel is contactless unless you need something. There is an office and housekeeping on site. The hotel is quiet and charming. Most rooms have a gas fire pit and a private patio. Room 17 faces the back parking lot with about 8 parking spaces. Even with the lot being full, I could not hear any of the vehicles in the parking lot from my room. The rear parking lot also has 4 Tesla chargers. The room was spacious with a large flat screen TV (plenty of channels). The bed was a king and very comfortable. The refrigerator was set at a cool temperature and kept our drinks very chilled. The rooms A/C was easy to operate with a remote and could be turned down to 62 degrees. The door for the room had three frosted glass panels. Some light would reflect through the panels at night so the room was not pitch black. That is the only complaint I have against the hotel. It didnt bother me but my wife had to wear an eye mask. I will gladly stay here in the future. read more

Stayed here recently for a week and on a couple other occassions on a business trips in the area. The Inn sits just far enough off the main tourist areas its very peaceful, extremely comfortable and exceptionally clean the property and grounds. Great staff, helpful, friendly and professional. They are quick to respond and very considerate. Over my three spearate stays I've overnighted in three of the ten rooms, and all were very good. King suite upstairs balcony a lot of space over two floors with another queen bed downstairs with a small seating area. This suite is very comfortable with a great shower upstairs and a tub down. A Queen room with a sleeper sofa downstairs in back is very quiet and comfortable. This room is also nicely appointed like all the rooms, the bathroom is very nice and also a nice walk in shower, bathing area. King room with a sleeper sofa upstair with a small front porch sitting area right outside the front door, this room is also very quiet in the back, so little to no road noise. Again the bed is very comfortable with nice amenities throughout the room. The bathroom area is also very nice and a good walk in shower. This is like my go to spot in this area, when comparing to other places at comparable values. Everything was perfect as usual except one thing... The Tesla chargers are no longer free. I think that should have been stated on their website. The free charging is one of the reasons I stay at this place. Usually destination chargers are free so it really should have been clearly stated somewhere when booking the hotel. Had I known that I would have stopped at a supercharger on the way into town. It cost me almost $50 to charge my car. Not sure how those fees are calculated or if this is more than usual or not since I always charge at home. I can't remember ever spending that much though at a Supercharger. Tonight I am actually staying at more of a budget hotel and even their charging is free. The property is reminiscent of a well-appointed motor lodge from olden days. The check in process was completely automated. The texts and email directions were very clear. We stayed in two adjacent rooms. They were modern and well equipped and very clean. The rooms came equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, and hair dryer. The extra blankets were nice and thick. My daughter likes to sleep with the AC on. I threw an extra blanket on my bed, and wound up getting too hot in the middle of the night (but only for a brief moment). Each room had an outdoor seating area with a propane fire pit/table. It was very cozy. Perfect for bringing your own hot chocolate mix. Each room has a small coffee maker and a hot water kettle as well. Our party consisted of Mom, Grandma, and five kids ages 8-16. The three older boys stayed in their own room. They enjoyed being able to hook up their video game system to the tv. They were able to keep their leftovers in their fridge and heat them up on their own in the microwave. As night fell, several of us sat out in the patio with the fire pit roaring. It was a very nice experience over all. We're already planning to come back in the future and stay longer. We truly felt relaxed and like we got away from big city life. read more

This place was perfect for what we wanted and needed for our stay in Solvang. 3 of us came for a long weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday. We weren't looking for a rowdy time. Just a clean, safe place, that had two separate areas to sleep, and our room (#10) had exactly what we were looking for. The Inside common area was really small and the little loveseat wasn't really comfy, but both bedrooms were a good size. They had enough room for all of our luggage and to spread out a little. The beds were comfy and each room had a tv. Our room also had a very small sitting area that was just for us with a fire pit. It was so nice coming back after dinner or wine tasting and being able to sit around the fire pit and wind down. We would sit outside and around the fire pit till about 11pm. (Friday and Saturday so that seemed reasonable. If it was a weekday 10pm would have been reasonable.). Then shut it down, go inside, and be quiet. I saw a few reviews saying that the management basically were fun killers, but they had No issues with this at all. In fact, the staff was super nice, from the office folks to the housekeeping staff. Super stinkin' cute. Didn't know what to expect when I heard it was an "inn". Is this a motel?! Last minute reservation for an overnight road trip. We were told after reservations that there is construction happening but we heard nothing. Found out they are expanding with additional units next door. Our room was like a private oasis on the 2nd floor. Private mini balcony with all the little extras inside with retro microwave too. Short walking distance to restaurants and shops. The shower was very roomy. The decor was modern. We really enjoyed our overnight stay and will definitely book here again when we visit Solvang. read more

New Haven Inn should've been a great vacation destination BUT... They charged me, (well really charged my toddler kids), $200 for excessive noise. DON'T stay here if you have children. Otherwise it's a great location, beautiful rooms and accommodation. The staff come off as "FRIENDLY" but the customer service needs some work. I booked through calling the front desk of the Inn. I specifically said we will be coming as a family with 5 children, all toddlers, to celebrate New Year. They promoted their suite and I bought into it. PROBLEM is, they did not advise that this was going to be an upstairs unit and that their shared walls are so thin that noise would be a problem. Within 5min of checking in, the front desk called and said our children are making too much noise. And threatened to charge us $200 for excessive noise. WOW! I'm sorry, but if my small children checking in excited for vacation is bothersome, then I wouldn't have booked this accommodation. Of course NYE, our children stayed up a little late to countdown. But there was no alcohol, music, party, etc. We watched the ball drop on tv! And our kids were on iPads, so we can keep them quiet and docile. Still we're penalized. If our society can't accept children being happy children, then we're in big trouble as a civilization. I talked to the front desk manager Tammy, who was nice but complied with the absent owner, and she forced a $200 charge for my children's noise. I told her I'd like to discuss this matter with the owner, but neither have reached out by email or phone. Now I'm forced to write this review to warn fellow travelers. DON'T BRING YOUR FAMILY HERE! If the owner stops cowarding away and reaches out, then I will consider taking down the negative parts of this review. Could've been a 4star but this customer service is a 2star hotel. read more

We came in on a Wednesday night at 8 and by 8:40 the hotel staff showed up at our door saying "you guys are being loud and we hope we don't have to come back a second time" is that not insane!? It was not even 9pm! RELAX! We came here on my best friends birthday and we almost got kicked out because we were just hanging out ordering a pizza. Wth! I will never be back and never be recommending this hotel to anyone! How dare they treat us this way! This is absurd and so rude! The lack of service is unheard of especially the day before nye! This is the WORST ever! We considered next year but no way will we return here! This is not how you treat a Yelp elite member! Ugh! Had a mini fridge, small reading/sitting area near the front window and a large bed. Only down side was the a/c unit in the window but it did keep the room cool. I booked room #5 trust me you want this room I loved it!!! And i will always stay in this room every time i come back! It's a beautiful 2 story loft with 2 bathrooms, balcony a little living room/sitting area and very private and perfect for us. He's a major primper so we need separate bathrooms trust me we've traveled together with one bathroom and it ain't pretty Haha!! Anyway peruse my photos and you'll see why i loved this room :) I am not a super picky person I just need space and clean and for it not to be fugly this went beyond that for me. It's right on the main road into town Alisal Rd. beautiful views of Solvang and the mountains. It's not a huge hotel it's small and adorable and parking kinda sucks but you can park in back there's a small lot if there's no spots up front. My check in was seamless, the staff was professional and always so very nice! They even sent a personal text message when we left saying Thank you and if I ever want to return please text them with any special requests etc and they will be more than happy to welcome me back :) Since i booked and paid i chose the big ass beautiful King sized bedroom upstairs Lol! It had a pretty chandelier, french doors leading out to the balcony which i was so buzzed every night we got back from partying and din din i stayed away from that and just had my coffee out there in the morning to soothe my little hangovers ;) Omg that bed was so comfy i swear i died a little every night it was so peaceful i never ever get breaks like that and i truly cherish and drank every bit of relaxation and quiet and me time in!! I felt like a princess for 3 day Lol! I'm simple i don't need fancy i just need thoughtful, fluffy and sweet :) My Bestie loved his room downstairs and his bathroom plenty of room for his many outfits and hair products etc. Geez i always feel under dressed around him i'm simple he's flashy so i'm usually the one waiting for his ass to get ready. Loved our stay here. Super cute place. Loved that it wasn't off the main drag with all the road noise, but a very pleasant walk to Copenhagen and mission dr where everything is. We stayed in room 7 which is an upstairs king room. Nice view of construction next door but if you look to the left it's beautiful green hills. The room had an electric kettle, with no tea bags, and a coffee maker, with coffee but no filters, I'm sure I was supposed to ask the desk. What really sealed the deal was the double shower. So nice! This is a super cute hotel off the Main Street. We had the suite for our party of 5. It has two big bathrooms, 2 beds and a pull out couch bed. Very convenient to walk to downtown Solvang. There are fire pits for sitting outside at night. I would definitely stay here again when visiting. read more

This hotel is cute, and it is a short distance to the shops and restaurants. I will say it is "A-OK" but nothing special. Due to COVID, we did self-check-in which was easy. They have plenty of parking, with lots of extra on the street. We stayed in room #7. It is well-decorated and has a small fridge. Because the room is so small, there is no closet. There is a rack with hangers. The shower is nice. There are two shower heads and lots of space, but no tub. It was clean and the heat worked well on a chilly evening. Several rooms had their own small fire pit tables outside, but ours did not. The bed wasn't the most comfortable, and the coffee maker didn't work. It was not a bad place to stay, but with a bill of over $600 for two nights, I guess I would expect more. My husband and I booked this place for our Memorial's day weekend getaway and it was perfect. The day of your arrival they will send you the link,So you can check in online (Available after 3 pm.By the way) after you successfully checked in they'll send you the info about your room,So when you get there you can go to your room right away without have to go through the check in process at the office like the regular hotel. I can't say anything about the staffs though because I have not seen them at all the whole time we were there but we've seen 1 housekeeping that we did say Hi and she's nice.By the way,We love that they fix our bed and clean our room everyday,So when we came back to the room after the long day of wine testing there is a nice clean bed and room for us everyday! Thank you guys! Parking : There is plenty in the back and street parking was fine also. This is really nice and quiet place,We slept really good every night. The most impressive things for this stayed was How clean the place and our room was.We got room No.9 which located downstair and has a living room separate from the bedroom.Perfect for a couple who sleep and wake up in the different times like us. We stayed 1 night cause we didn't want to drive back the same day visiting Solvang. This is a cute place. But for $140 I think I rather stay near the Main Street. They were also doing construction next building, 8am sound starts so if you like to sleep in maybe somewhere else. I saw on tik tok they had bikes to ride, I was so excited until I saw the bikes. They were rusted and full of spider webs. (Side eyed the tik tok video) I like the room it was clean and nice. We had trouble with the AC and didn't appreciate noise. We walked to Corque hotel restaurant for dinner. Walk back was dark so don't go too late if you want to walk. read more
