Disclaimer: I didn't stay here, but visiting it made me glad I didn't. For a very walkable town, the area around this inn was incredibly dark at night. I couldn't see a thing. That alone was a turn off. Overall, this place looked like a small mansion converted into an inn. Pretty tight walkways on the stairs and getting to the rooms. The front desk is literally a desk in the middle of the lobby. Can't speak for the rooms though. read more

Stayed in late November, will not return. It was just sold and shouldn't be open while they're trying to figure things out, but of course they obviously want to make money (way overpriced)-- at the expense of the guests. I read it used to be warm and friendly. Lobby was empty and cold, digital check in, no human greeters on site. Used to have continental breakfast, nothing now. Won't be back anytime soon to Solvang in general, it's a major tourist trap now. Also, previously great on site restaurant closed, elevator was out of service, lots of stairs, no mini fridge, yada yada yada. The good was that the room was very clean and a big bath tub. read more

Such a cute & quaint little lodging establishment, definitely felt cozy! My daughter and granddaughter loved it! We love that it's old, historic and well preserved. The elevator was little bit challenging for me, but I was able to get up & down with out straining my already damaged knees. My granddaughter had her own little bed, enough to fit two people but at a low level for short tiny people like her. I had my own wallbed I think they're called Murphy beds still? My daughter had a trundle one. The windows are cute & have great views of surrounding areas, so quaint and scenic. Your walking distance of everything. The staff were gracious and quite accommodating. You will pay a lot more than the some of the other hotels but I thought it was worth it. Read some reviews that weren't encouraging but maybe we were just lucky to not have any issues. Parking would get crowded quickly but we we're always able to get a spot, we didn't drive out that much though. Definitely worth staying if you love these older buildings. read more

My husband and I just got back from the most incredible weekend spent at the Mirabelle. The staff were all WONDERFUL. Macy was a GEM and we felt so welcome from the moment we walked in. The room we. stayed in was absolutely amazing and was decorated beautifully. Yes, the fixtures may be a little older, but that was part of the charm of this place. Additionally, the meal we had at First & Oak was UNREAL! Our server Devyn was so kind, as well as the restaurant manager Matt was so nice! We stayed in a premium deluxe room. The good. Clean rooms. Bed was super comfortable. Bathroom had both tub and shower. Safe box to store valuables. Nice continental breakfast. Great location. The bad. Sink was located in the bedroom area outside of the bathroom. No closet. No chest of drawers. No refrigerator. No where in bath area to put or store toiletries. The ugly. Rear parking accommodates 5 small vehicles plus 1 handicap parking space. Hotel parks its huge van in the customer parking area which takes up a ton of space. This was one of the best dart board picks we've ever done. A spur of the moment decision to visit Solvang for the weekend and we wanted to stay in town within walking distance to everything. Mirabelle is a charming little inn with a lot of amenities, and perhaps the best is they also have a Michelin star restaurant on the premises! Staff is very nice and super accommodating, the inn is well appointed, and this time of year it was all decked out for Christmas. They offer free WiFi and a free continental breakfast The restaurant offers a three or five course dinner that is superb. Reservations are definitely recommended for dinner, as we missed out on our first night. Highly recommended!! read more

This was an extremely positive experience for us. We staying in Room 9 which had a view of the mountains .The room was clean and had a working air conditioner. The decor was lovely and quaint . We ate at the restaurant First and Oak connected with the hotel. It was dynamite. Also the Inn is very close to the main drag in Solvang and they offer a free wine tasting coupon. There are a few things you should know about the place : there are no phones in the room, there are stairs to climb but there is a working elevator if you require it, you can hear people above you. None of these things bothered us because it's like a Bed and Breakfast. Also people complained about the price point but anywhere else was a good $150-200 more per night. Way to go Mirabelle. We had a very nice stay at the Mirabelle inn which is really a bed and breakfast. We stayed in room nine which was very nice and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. It's a very quaint place. I would say it's like a boutique. The one negative I would say is that it's no frills and what I mean by that is no coffee maker, no phone in the room and the walls are very thin which means you hear everything. First the good - This is a "boutique hotel" - which means your room amenities will be limited to an older style than you might be used to in a modern hotel. It is very much a European hotel room feel. The room and bathroom are small, but adequate - the shower leaked almost continuously, floor tiles are cracked and old - a little like going to your grandmother or mothers house. The bathroom door does not close all the way and the hot water was at times only lukewarm. The bed was quite comfortable with lots of good pillows - The floors are hard wood and gave a clean modern feel to the room. The staff was limited, but very attentive. I thought it was a bit odd that I was charged for the entire four day stay up front, I am used to a that being settled up in full upon checkout, but it being the Thanksgiving holiday and maybe I waived that when I secured a reservation. The hotel is not fully ADA compliant, which is readily disclosed on their website - there is a very small closet style elevator, but several of the room have stairs leading down or up to actual living area once you enter the room - as many as a dozen stairs - so if you have any difficulty with narrow steep stairs, you may need to speak to staff about room that are more conventional. The not so good - When I checked in, I advised the staff that I had a service dog and a clearly working dog breed (not an emotional support animal or other name to be able to bring your pet) - that is in fact registered with my home county as such and highly trained - to provided walking/guidance/physical support duties for me. The person checking me in gave me the response I am used to, no worries - here is your keys and enjoy your stay. However, after coming and going with the service animal in and out of the hotel from two days, Thanksgiving early morning while entering the hotel, a male staff member with black hair told me dogs were not allowed. I advised him I was staying in the hotel, checked with the service animal and job the service animal does for me - which they may and should ask. He continued that the owner does not allow dogs, that this was "not a Hilton" - I asked him if this hotel was open to the public for lodging and he said yes, and I advised him that he was not permitted to discriminate and that state and federal law prohibited a business open to the public from prohibiting service animals. I asked him what he would like for me to do - he did not reply - I asked him if I could continue to my room and again he said nothing, so I went about my stay with no other interaction with him. The remainder of the stay was pleasant and other contact with staff was very nice. The hotel also has a restaurant on the bottom floor - that is apart of the hotel- which is or may be undergoing change of ownership since there is an Alcoholic Beverage Control notice on the front which is typical for ownership change. I hope that the new owner and mentioned staff become more educated on ADA rules - as complaints to California Commission on Disability Access and Department of Rehabilitation could impact an ABC license review open for public comment - an ABC review does look a issue of accessibility and compliance with other state laws besides alcohol including character of staff and owners. read more

Truly spectacular! What a gem in Solvang. The rooms are spacious, staff very courteous and welcoming. The restaurant (dinner) is prob one of the best I've ever experienced. We were disappointed with Room 11. The bathroom was somewhat in disrepair, with broken tiles on the floor and in the shower. There weren't any pictures of this bathroom online for good reason. I expected better at this price point (about $300/ night when we stayed). We booked room 11 because it said it had a separate staircase so we thought there was a chance it might have outdoor access which would have been a bit safer due to covid. I double and triple checked that the room was on the third floor so that we wouldn't have trouble sleeping at night from noisy neighbors above us. Unfortunately, room 11 has an interior door on the third floor, but the room itself is down a flight of stairs and actually immediately below another room that is truly on the third floor. We had someone staying above us who wore heels that were super loud late at night. The flooring must have been really thin because we even heard the cord from their phone charger moving on the ground when they would plug it in. I wouldn't have minded, if the listing had disclosed that the room wasn't actually on the third floor. We got very little sleep. There was also an odd picture of kittens with red eyes at the top of the stairwell. Interesting decor choice. read more

We came to the Mirabelle Inn for an overnight getaway to Solvang and I was very pleased with our stay. This is a nice little Inn conveniently located about one block away from the main street in Solvang. You can park your car at the Inn and everything is within walking distance. We stayed in room #8 and it was very lovely and well kept. The bathroom had a large jacuzzi tub and was very spacious. This room does not have a shower, but there is a handheld shower head on the wall that you can use to bathe. Everything was very clean and there were plenty of towels. In the afternoon, they set up wine and appetizers to enjoy, and in the evening, they had tea and cookies set up in the reception area. I really liked this and thought it was a nice touch. I liked taking a cup of tea and some cookies to my room to enjoy the rest of the evening. Your overnight stay comes with free breakfast. The cake and fruit were delicious. I was not too happy with the breakfast choices of oatmeal or frittata. Neither appealed to me very much. I chose the frittata and it was just okay and a bit under cooked. But really that would be my only complaint. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. There is parking behind the Inn in a small lot. I would definitely recommend the Mirabelle Inn to anyone looking for a little weekend away! read more

I am currently writing this after being woken up by the stomping above our room and the loud voices outside our room. I'd love to give this place a better rating, but I can't when we can barely get decent sleep due to all the racket. For $400 per night the room is basic and the bathroom definitely needs to be renovated. The deadbolt only works when you're in the room but does not lock when you leave the room... strange. The proximity to all the shops/restaurants is a plus but there are many other hotels I'll try next time in hopes we can get a decent night's rest. There is a parking lot but it's first come first serve and the spots are very tight. I've stayed in many hotels (old and new) and this is definitely one of noisiest. read more

This is a cute boutique hotel. However, there is an observation which leads to this complaint. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed. We were, however, very disappointed with the bathroom. I don't believe renovations were done when they came to that room. I felt it was of very poor quality, as if I was in a low budget motel. The toilet did not flush (took several flushes ), bathtub was old, as was the sink area with old tile. When you renovate, complete the job! Your price for the room deserves a spa like feel bathroom. This place was beautiful! I wish we could've spent a whole week here. We visited during a quieter time of year (end of October). This inn is conveniently located walking distance from many businesses within Solvang. We parked in the private back lot, but there is also plenty of street parking in front of the inn. We enjoyed dropping off our things in the room and exploring the town. The check-in process went smoothly, and we even got to pick out our room because there were a few options open! Upon entering our room, we had a beautiful and cozy set up. They even gifted us a bottle of wine along with a complimentary tasting at a local winery. What a nice surprise! The breakfast that next morning was absolutely delicious, and it's hosted in a gorgeous setting. It was such a relaxing getaway. If I ever get the chance to go back to Solvang, I'll definitely want to stay here again! Tip- the elevator is small and a bit tricky to figure out. I recommend taking the stairs, if you can. But, there is an elevator option if you need it! :) read more

This is such a charming hotel in such a cute little town. We love it there. When we stayed there the first time, it was just overnight, so we didn't really get to experience all the amazingness of the Inn and the staff. But this time we stayed for three days and it was SO worth every penny. We met our two closest friends who drove down from San Jose to meet us there. We sold them on the property and they were super excited. Now, our friend uses a wheelchair to get around as he is elderly and has trouble with stairs. They did have some rooms that were available that were wheelchair accessible and a small elevator that we barely fit in, but it worked. Because we needed a shower for him that was a walk-in, we had them stay in room 5. It is a lovely room with cute decor and an old fashioned vanity/sink combo in the room so you can be brushing your teeth while someone else is in the bathroom showering or such. Fireplace, windows, and a four-poster bed. The only downside of room 5 was there was no closet. There were just hooks alongside the wall. Not horrible...but a bit annoying. My Fiance and I stayed in Room 12. It was huge! High ceilings, great bed, fireplace, and a regular bathroom. The tub and sinks def need some updating, but other than that the room was just fantastic. They also give every room a bottle of wine, cookies, and two nice bottles of water upon check-in. Very nice! We must say a huge shout out to the staff. Alexandra, Tommy, and Rachel were all fantastic! SOOO helpful and accommodating. One of the BEST reasons to stay here is the breakfast. HOLY SMOKES!!!!! It is literally the most delicious breakfast ever. And it is included with your stay. If you are going to stay in Solvang, this is the place to do it. You will love it. Cute inn. We stayed in room 12. Room was updated. Nice wood floors. High vaulted ceiling. There was a fireplace but it kept shutting off so the front desk had to come light it up. They don't have a phone in room so you will have to make sure you have their number on speed dial on your phone. The bathroom could use some updating to match the room. Nice touch is they give you a complimentary bottle of wine, water, and a voucher to do some wine tasting at the winery where they give you that complimentary bottle of wine. Breakfast was good. This is a wonderful old boutique hotel with great employees. What ruined our stay was a combination of the thin walls and floors, as well as the rude guests that were staying in the rooms above our two rooms and one adjacent on the same floor. The guests above apparently have never heard of taking their shoes off once they get in the room. We were hearing loud footsteps and furniture moving (?) until midnight all three nights we stayed in the hotel. The adjacent room insisted on playing booming bass rap music until 11:30 each night. We also heard every toilet flush and shower running. Really frustrating to have to wait until the neighbors quieted down before we could fall asleep expecially when we wanted to get up early to enjoy the beautiful countryside in the area. We requested assistance on these noise issues multiple times from staff but apparently they were unable to get the guests to cooperate. I booked a room on the 2nd floor in spite of my bad knee, because the website specifically stated that there is an elevator. And yeah, there's an elevator. Sort of. It's either possessed by the devil or dying a painfully slow death - it works maybe half the time, and randomly stops between floors. I ended up taking the stairs rather than risk getting stuck. The room was clean and comfortable, but it sounded like there was a family of tap dancers staying in the room above us. For what they charge, they could maybe throw a few dollars at soundproofing the rooms. The in-house restaurant is fantastic, and the location is convenient. read more

So this is out second stay at Mirabelle Inn. I was greeted again by Rachel who was just the loveliest young lady you could imagine meeting. She took care of me from making sure that I was able to get our bags into room to making sure that our reservations were on time. Every day we were greeted with a warm smile and a check to make sure everything was to your satisfaction which it was. The rooms are very lovely. It feels like you're going into a European hotel. Don't expect a brand new hotel. This is more to going back towards The European style of furnishing. A fireplace warms your room and antiques are the decoration of choice. The beds are very comfortable.I will say Wi-Fi is an issue. But that is truly my one complaint. And if you have a chance, eat at First & Oak. A five star rated Michelin restaurant which is absolutely incredible. Just be prepared to have an exceptionally leisurely meal. If you're looking for a weekend away to pamper yourself or for a special weekend for you and your other half, this is absolutely a place to consider. read more

Mirabelle: The point being? -- "Shopgirl" Founded in 1911, the city of Solvang began as a dream of three Danish immigrants: Reverend Benedict Nordentoft, Reverend J. M. Gregersen, and Professor P. P. Hornsyld. They raised money to buy a large area of land on the West Coast and subdivide it for farms, homes, and a town for Danish immigrants. Profits from the sale of land would be used for building a Danish-style folk school and a Lutheran church. There is no truth to the folklore that they also planned for it to devolve into a kitschy tourist destination with tired, aging motels. But thanks to the nearby wine country, Solvang is definitely staging a comeback. I was actually shocked at the amount of people walking the streets during the day (nighttime is another story). I was one of the people visiting to tour wine country and drove down to meet a friend to tour with. Instead of one of the aging motels, we chose this B & B and were glad we did. Although pricey, the room are large and off the main drag in a quiet neighborhood and was able to sleep off the vino imbibing pretty easy. Room # 10, which I booked, is perfect for couples with a large poster bed, multiple styles of pillows to choose from, a sitting room and enough solid furniture that one would never have to repeat a position if staying with a lover ;) This trip was all about the sleep though so I have no proof of my theory. Breakfast was included and can be hit or miss. First breakfast was a disappointment with a terrible choice of poached eggs. Considering poached eggs are no one's first choice at breakfast this was a definite misfire. Plus, at 9:30 with a 10:00 AM end time, breakfast bread basket was empty and not refilled plus water/orange juice were also near depletion. Second morning was much better with lovely service and a very nice omelette. I ate all the fruit and bread I could muster to make up for the lackluster opening morning. There is free wi-fi and your feeling of the price will depend on why you are in Solvang. If a motel is your price point preference you will not like it here. I preferred a more civilized accommodation and in spite of the breakfast misfire will stay again. There is a restaurant on site and I will review that under separate cover. Other rooms have in room jet tubs and there is a small room on site for guest spa treatments. The wine and appetizer happy hour was excellent, nice apps and cheese with local wines. There was a Santa Barbara Rose that I really enjoyed one afternoon. Recommended! read more

The experience here has been relaxed, and homey with a friendly staff. I loved my room! So CLEAN and bright and the fireplace was nice and cozy once it became cooler in evening. I usually have a hard time getting to comfy in a bed other than my own but it was just so homey here that I steeped like a baby. The complementary wine and appetizers served from 4-5pm were so nice, you could sit and relax in the patio or the parlor. The complimentary breakfast was delish! Granola, frittata, Danish pancakes, toast, coffee, tea, juice and milk. Excellent!! I would defiantly return here and tell my friends about this place for a nice getaway. The only bummer, we came on a Tuesday & Wednesday and the restaurant is only open Thursday - Sunday. So we missed out on all the yummy looking dishes others have posted. read more

It is a lovely Inn. It has a very welcoming, homey lobby. It was adorable. We had booked it on the spur of the moment, as someone had recommended it to us. It is on the higher end of rooms, as far as pricing in Solvang, so we had high expectations! The floors are beautiful and we ended up on the top floor. The bed and furniture were updated and cute. The bathroom is not updated, including the tub and sink area--not sure why, because it takes away from the entire look of the room and hotel. They did have outlets next to the bed for a variety of technology, so that was cool. They threw breakfast in with the accommodations, we don't really eat breakfast--so it was not something we used, but I am sure it was good from other reviews. There is no coffee maker or refrigerator in the room, not sure where the icemaker was either. There was an adorable lounge area on our floor that seems like it would be great to come back to after wine tasting all day. I felt a bit underwhelmed, as I was about to leave the hotel to look for coffee, I happened to catch the woman who was putting stuff out in the dining rooms if there was coffee available--she said "yes" and to wait for it to be brewed. No problem, just not easily or readily available. They do throw the bottle of wine and a couple of waters in the room into your accommodations, so that was a nice touch. And getting to the main issue I had.....it was LOUD. I believe the air conditioning unit had to be on the other side of our wall, as it was loud when we arrived (late at night) and loud the next morning. I would not choose room 12, if you are planning on staying there--as it was super loud. Bed was very comfortable. Beds and the people that work there were really nice. It is also a great location! It's a charming hotel conveniently located in the heart of Solvang. Staff is friendly and responsive. The rooms are large and clean. There are, however, a number of nagging issues about the property. First and foremost is the noise of the antiquated heating system that whines like a refrigerator at very loud levels in the upper rooms. You may not be able to sleep through it. Secondly, if you don't shower early we find that the hot water drops off by 8 and you won't be able to take a shower. Less significant, but still a bit annoying, is the lack of any coffee machine in the rooms or coffee availability in the hotel before 8. Really? The bathrooms are also cramped with a complete lack of counter space to hold your toiletries or change of clothing. I think overall its charm and staff make this is a worthwhile stay, but it does trouble me about the lack of attention to the updating needed in order to bring it up to the level of its pricing. read more

The Mirabelle Inn is a charming 12 room establishment within downtown Solvang. I stayed there for 2 nights, and there were several things I liked and didn't like. It is nestled in a place where very few tourists walk by, which helps to keep the noise down. The staff is very kind and accommodating. The rooms are very clean, and the food is delicious. The bed linens were very warm and comfy. Despite its charms, there were a few things that were difficult to look past. The first thing I noticed was the bathtub. It was a jacuzzi tub with a shower head set above it to shower in. In order to get into the tub, you have to step up onto a step then into a tub. Very unsafe for someone with disabilities or balance issues. Also, there was no shower curtain! If someone was to enter the bathroom while you are showering, you're on full display! Second, the room I was in did not have elevator access. To be fair, it said this on the website. However, it is not easily accessible to someone with disabilities. Third, the pillows went completely flat a few minutes after laying my head down. So unfortunately, I did not rest well. This is a very cute place in appearances. However, I am not sure I will stay here again. read more

Last Fri. My husband and I stayed in the suite of Mirabelle Inn, costing $400 plus tax . To our greatest disappointment the costly suite is an attic converted suite, low ceiling, on one one small narrow triangle end a low floor bed squeezed in, one has to craw in. The king size bed in the the biggest area of the room next to it is the narrow walkway used as the sitting area with a small sofa and two unclean chairs and a broken doll house as a decoration. The furniture in the attic suite is tiny, uncomfortable...It is hot and stuffy in early summer. It is by no means worth $400 per night! We thought in the last stop of our trip we could have some good experience in the cute Danish village, but it really has left bad taste . We paid high price for a uncomfortable night. read more
