There are a lot of seemingly great hotel options available in Solvang, but the Kronborg Inn had several things going for it that matched our particular tastes: a competitive price, a quaint aesthetic, anda solid location (I wanted something on the edge of town, not in the middle, so that we had the full experience of walking into the village from the outskirts, and taking it all in). This is a motel-style in, meaning the room doors face out toward the parking lot. Check in was simple, and we drove around to a spot nearest our door, and unloaded. The room was very spacious, exceptionally clean, and had a wonderful balcony view of the pool and hot tub, decorated with festoon lighting. The bed was comfy and served us well. Free "breakfast" consists mostly of coffee, tea, and an assortment of Danish baked goodies, of which I grabbed a few each day; our son loved them (as did I)! Despite being fully booked, we hardly ever say anyone else, and heard almost no noise from the nearby rooms, even though it was obvious (at night) that they were occupied, so if you're looking for a quite, relaxed place to stay in Solvang, the Kronborg Inn is probably what you are looking for. Great for families, couples, and friend groups! I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to stay here again, during our next visit to Solvang!

My wife and I had one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever encountered. We were genuinely appalled by how the situation was handled and will never stay here again. On our first night, we checked in, I took a shower, and noticed blood stains on one of the towels. We immediately brought it to the front desk, and while they replaced it, we were told that no manager or supervisor would be available to speak with us for four days. Later that night, when we went to bed, we discovered more blood stains on the bed sheets and pillowcase. Since it was late, we had no choice but to sleep on one side of the bed. The next morning, we reported the issue and were told the linens would be replaced while we were out for the day. After being gone for more than 12 hours, we returned to find the bed made--but with the same stained sheets still on it. The bathroom had been cleaned, but the overall experience was simply unacceptable. We later received a call from the manager, who offered a mere $25 credit for a $400 stay, and advised us to contact Hotels.com. Over the following week, Hotels.com was unable to reach the hotel for resolution. This was an extremely disappointing and unsanitary experience, coupled with very poor customer service. I strongly recommend avoiding this property. We will be staying elsewhere when we return to Solvang.

Kronsborg Inn has super cute street appeal with a big, functional windmill in the front! The staff was helpful - we arrived early and hoped to check in early to get ready for a wedding. The staff moved our room without a moment of hesitation so we could get in immediately! Check in was fast and smooth. The room was large and well-maintained. I was surprised to find a private balcony and a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom! No bugs, comfy beds, microwave and fridge were included. My only complaint was that the TV would randomly power down and then turn right back on to the show I was watching g about every 30 mins or so? But that's not worth knocking a star when everything else went so smooth! I am not a big tv watcher anyways lol

Okay, so this hotel is on the older side. The outside you can absolutely tell it's old AF. But the inside is all renovated and nice. I love the windmill outside. All the rooms are located on the outside and the entire thing wraps around all in a zigzag pattern walkway. There is a pool and jacuzzi outdoors in the middle of the hotel. Literally everyone can see you - I wasn't a fan of that. The balconies were cute, I didn't get a chance to sit outside but next time I will. I was excited because this room had a tub with jets! I got to soak and relax. The tub was clean the jets did not spit out any debris. The caulking was molding though. The chair in the room was bustin' out the seems and you KNOW that thing was not cleaned. I mean, the color. I bet if you shampooed it it would turn a different color. The flooring was uneven in some spots in the room. The towel holder in the bathroom was wobbly. Other than that it was a nice stay.

    The dirty spa

The room was updated and the bed was comfy, but the pool and spa look nothing like the pictures. One of the reasons I chose this hotel was for the pool. The pool looked dirty and so did the spa. Only 2 jets worked on the spa too. The bathroom is smaller than the picture as well. The door is right behind you making it hard to get ready without bumping into the door. The other reason I chose this hotel was for the daily breakfast. Upon checking in, the receptionist said breakfast is only available on weekends now. . I thought Solvang was a quiet town. For some reason we heard ambulances all night long since our room was close to the street.

    View of walkway from room.

Don't stay here during peak time. You'll spend way more than what it's worth. Pay the extra $$ for a hotel that is closer to city center. This place isn't bad for the low $98 if you want to save money. The room's interior offered some esthetics with a jacuzzi tub, ceiling fan and comfortable bedding, and if you're lucky to get an upstairs with balcony, even better. We had the worst location downstairs facing the walkway to the pool offering no privacy. Could not keep slider open as there was no screen.

    A tub that wouldn't drain.

Let me start with the only positive. They have a hard working employee by the name of Esperanza, she was wonderful. Stay away from this hotel. It is a dump! It is super dirty, the room and pool looked nothing like the pictures. They need to fix the hotel and purchase new bedding instead of recycling the same old stained ones.

My girlfriend and I stayed in a room for 2 nights(sunday, monday) and we were greeted by a lady at the front desk who was very nice. She showed us our room location and where everything was located( laundry ice machine etc...). Our room was very spacious came with a ceiling fan, sliding glass door, jacuzzi tub and everything was perfectly clean. The only downside was no included breakfast but the hotel is close to the main town that had breakfast (we recommend brekkies.) The pool and jacuzzi were nice and easily accessible.

This place has BEAUTIFUL rooms! The outside does not match the inside AT ALL. The service has been prompt and wonderful and the ladies at the check-in were personable and kind. The Halloween decorations are plentiful and ADORABLE... we absolutely LOVE it here and will be staying every time we come back to Solvang. Thank you!

The cute surprise along with balloons placed on all the lights!

I am going to let you in on a little secret…read more... Yeah, I'm going to share with you what i THINK is the best kind of getaway, well, at least in my humble opinion. It's the kind that doesn't abruptly end, but it just sort of.... keeps on going. Let me explain. Have you ever gone on vacation and said to yourself, or to your spouse or even to your kids.... "Gee, I could have really used one more night" Or Let out the exaggerated (Ughh)... "I don't want to go back to work tomorrow, I wish we could just extend our trip by just one more day" Well... On a recent trip with my family, We INTENTIONALLY did just that. My wife booked us a 2 night stay in Paso Robles at a beautiful boutique style/chain hotel. (The Ava Hotel in Paso) (Check out my review for the deets) Usually, when we do these short, weekend trips, I work up until the day of our trip and then go back the very next day once we return... But, NOT THIS TIME! Yeah, This time, my wife intentionally told me, let's book one more night on the way home from our trip in Paso just to break up the drive home and enjoy one more day off of work and time with the fam. Heck, I've got loads of PTO and who wants to be at work anyway, so it wasn't too hard to twist my arm on this one. And just like that.... Solvang, Here we Come! Yes, the cute, quaint town of Solvang is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway or even just for a one night stay like we did. Of course, my wife, the Queen of finding the best places to stay/eat... (AND I AM THE ONE WHO IS THE "ELITE" haha) booked us a room at the Landsby hotel and it was nothing short of a treat. Here's why: The Landsby is more than just a room... Inside of a hotel... Located in the heart of this Danish town known as: SOLVANG It wasn't just, "let's build a hotel where the people can stay and explore the town while they are here". At least that's not the impression it gave me! Instead, The Landsby has a Charm about, it has Character and most of all it gives you the impression that you are in a modern-day Dutch village. But one of my favorite parts.... The Room Key, keyword, "KEY" Yeah! The room key is an actual Key!!! A metal, lock and key, just like the good 'ol days! Ain't no digital, pre-programmed, modern day, technologically advanced system like every other hotel does it.... And I liked it! And to match the old school style key... The t.v is in black and white, the internet is run on dial up and the telephone is a rotary dial..... JUST KIDDING!!!! But wouldn't that be cool! Aside from the small town European vibe that the exterior of the building gives you, once you step inside both the hotel and then your room, you are immediately transported to a place that feels welcoming, familiar and most of all comfortable. Because this was a short stay (just a one nighter) we didn't take advantage of the amenities like we normally do, but next time we will. A lobby bar (our favorite place to check out), an onsite restaurant (Mad & Vin which loos really good), an outdoor courtyard to sit and relax, and complimentary cruiser bikes to explore the town. The Landsby is Pet friendly, so definitely check out their webpage for details for your furry friends. So....... Now that I've let you in on my little secret, I don't want you to keep it that way! Spread the word! Pass it along! Tell a friend! Come check out the Landsby in Solvang!!

We had to call several times: For more towels, for more instant coffee (there's an electric kettle in a small kitchen with a microwave), and to figure out how to work the TV (which had a box literally hanging off of it and dangling down the wall), apparently not an uncommon issue since there's a note saying to call before 9 pm if the TV won't work. We also had to specifically request the breakfast and 2-for-1 wine tasting coupons advertised. That said, each time someone helpfully turned up (or offered to do so). But each time it also felt like the bare minimum (how many towels do you want; how many coffee packets?)
