    Breakfast- best quiche

I can't wait to return here! It was such a great stay. Chic contemporary meets California heat within an old school motor court that has been revamped and infused with new life, gardens and grounds! Recommended to me by an acquaintance, I visited the website and felt intrigued. I will dapple in high end hippie chic if there's a pop of lux and the grounds grabbed me. I love grounds and gardens. It was also in Santa Ynez which, for my numerous visits to Los Olivos or Santa Barbara, I'd never visited. So that held an appeal. We jumped into it and ventured north. We absolutely loved our time, our room and this motel! Let me just say, they must be bringing in those baked goods for breakfast from Solvang because they were the best I've ever had. Yes, indeed. Our room was off the check in lobby with a small rear terrace. It was snug, but comfortable and the bathroom had great natural light. I felt very comfortable here. Zero complaints. Our private outdoor patio was lovely with a fire pit but I often found myself walking the front gardens and enjoying the numerous seating spots. We didn't walk anywhere from the motel but it was July in Santa Ynez so not exactly the time of year for that but downtown Santa Ynez was not far and had some great clothing shops and a cute breakfast restaurant. We had some great dinners while here and wine country was so close. We skipped that this trip but can attest there are excellent wines produced in this region so worth exploring for the vinophile. I really loved this motel (btw the AC worked perfectly!). I hope it doesn't blow up in popularity and become difficult to book but if you are planning a getaway to Santa Ynez Valley, this place has broad appeal... let me say.

Cozy small community feel with lots of charm. Hotel staff is great. Rooms are spacious and have nice added charm. Loved the indoor fireplace. Beds are a bit high. Lobby area and breakfast room felt line home. Their signature scent is delightful and products are all supported by local businesses. The center courtyard with fire pits were perfect for relaxing as a group and enjoying our wine. We enjoyed breakfast on our front patio each morning Pro tip - dog friendly but very tight rules by ownership. No dogs by fire pit

Cute little hotel to stay while visiting Solvang/ Santa Ynez area ! It's cozy affordable and spacious for us and enjoyed the free EV charging and beverage offer in morning !! Darling outdoor fireplace area to hang out ! The only thing I would change was for the outdoor pool to be a bit warmer otherwise I would come back while vacationing here

I love this hotel and we absolutely loved our stay. Everyone was so nice and friendly, the Hammock on our mini porch was the perfect way to relax and unwind after a swim in the heated, salt water pool and the fireplace in the room made the ambiance cozy and warm at night. The posh outdoor furniture with games, fire pits and tiki torches amongst the lush, beautiful trees made it feel like a mini vacation house vs. a hotel and the continental breakfast looked yummy, (Yogurt, Pastries, Fruit), despite only being able to eat the fruit, lol. But my husband said it was good. There were a few families but not a lot of small kids which helped keep things on the quieter side and the lounge area inside with a mini gift shop is really cute. Oh and GET THE BEEF JERKY- it's SO good. If I am being very picky, the only "cons" would be the bed was a little too high for us and there was no bathtub. (: Other than that, we HIGHLY recommend and we will definitely be back!

Firstly, this place is GORGEOUS. It lived up to the Instagram hype by FAR. I was worried it wouldn't look like the pictures online but I was beyond pleasantly surprised. There is so much outdoor space with lounge chairs, fire pits, a bocce court, tables for a meal outside and lots of big beautiful trees that twinkle at night. They even light up tiki torches at night too! Though it's off of a main road, it still remains pretty quiet. However we were woken up by a screaming child one morning. The hotel is kind of shaped in a circle so if there is a kid in the middle of the courtyard screaming, everyone is going to hear it. Not the best way to wake up, but kids will be kids and what can you do. There were actually many families with small kids staying there the time. There's a small pool with lounge chairs and bikes available to ride. They'll give you helmets too! The hotel is super pet friendly with dog bowls everywhere and a big patch of grass for dogs to hang out. They have breakfast boxes in the morning that had fresh baked muffins and yogurt..all really healthy stuff! A great way to have a COVID friendly continental style breakfast. Each room has a cute boho hammock outside the door, and a little patio with a bistro set to enjoy a drink or snack outside. They even have a little fridge in the lobby with some snacks and drinks for a quick grab and go situation. We stayed in some sort of a deluxe room because it had a fireplace. But the true star of our room was the BAR. Stocked with great mixers and small bottles of alcohol. There were even non alcoholic beverages available in the cool vintage fridge that was in our room too. We actually bought a lot of our own food and drinks from the market just down the street and were able to just have it in our fridge our whole stay which was nice (and saved $ on eating out). Tesla chargers are also available at this hotel. Now for my not so favorite things that I think can be improved on: -bathroom towels were paper thin -bathroom robes were EXTREMELY small...like laughably small. -toilet paper was super low quality (always a bummer at a hotel especially if you are paying over $300 a night!) -No screens on our room's windows. Would have loved to enjoy the nice breeze but wanted to keep bugs out. This hotel however is fully renovated and everything is brand new. Also, our bed was HEAVENLY. Sooo comfortable. Overall, I just think they could improve their bathroom essentials by a great deal. Staff was nice too! You can text them for anything you need and they will respond promptly. Appreciate the hospitality, hotel ynez!

The hotel was cute and very bohemian, but the rules of the place are weird and the food situation is weirder. I don't think it was worth the price but I also know there are limited options and they have a nice location so it probably doesn't matter for them. Room was comfortable and clean. Prices on in-room snacks or drinks was INSANE; Vegas insane. Breakfast was slow because the guy at the front desk is also cooking or reheating it all; waiting 45 mins at one point for Luke warm quiche. Loved the hammocks. We got kicked out of the fire area before "curfew" because the staff wanted to go home apparently. So all in all I would def stay here again but I will consider other options.

Cute dog friendly hotel! Garden suite

Loved our stay at Hotel Ynez. So great to find a hotel that has a Garden Suite that has a probated fenced backyard for our doggies to run around while we hang out. Loved the jetted tubs outside which got nice and hot. And also the firepits. Very cozy and private, quiet romantic stay. Kudos to the friendly staff who made our stay extra special.

First of all, I want to preface the fact that I have stayed at this particular hotel a few times and have stayed in many hotels in the Santa Ynez Valley (and surrounding communities), including their "sister" property, Skyview in Los Alamos. Although they may have slick marketing and interior design, their customer service is horrific, there are many issues that lie behind the façade. We generally overlook the small issues such as their undrinkable coffee (worst than a Midwest truck stop), their "no outside drink" policy when sitting around the firepits (Really? You know you're a vacation hotel in wine country, right?), and showers that leak everywhere... all of that is tolerable, although it deserves a few demerits at that price point. That's not where the real problems lies... Sadly, during our most recent visit on October 22nd-24th, we encountered an issue that was very troubling. When reviewing my credit card statements on November 5th (roughly ~2 weeks later) we noticed that we were DOUBLE-BILLED for our stay. The grand total should have been $922.16 total for 2 nights, but I ended up getting charged a total of $1,844.62 over 3 different charges. Definitely not a "minor" billing error, but certainly something that can be corrected rather quickly. I immediately contacted the hotel regarding the error, and received a response from the manager (Jason Brown) blaming it on a "PMS issue" (Property Management System), and that the "issue is now resolved", and I should be seeing my refund the following week. Remember, this is after the close of the books for the month of October, and about 2 WEEKS past our checkout. I then responded to him as to why they didn't notify their guests of this KNOWN double-billing situation - even just a simple email would suffice - and he didn't have an answer... he essentially kept blaming it on their booking provider (Amadeus). Hmm... so they knew they were double-billing customers, but neglected to resolve the issue until customers came forward to complain?!? Now, if you ask me, that's extremely shady. In any case, I let the issue go, assuming I would be refunded in the next week. Fast forward to over a month past our checkout (yesterday, November 29th). I was reviewing my credit card statements and noticed that I had never been refunded the $922.16. I also realized I'd never even had follow-up from the manager confirming if I indeed had been refunded. Again, very shady, and absolutely terrible customer service. I sent another email that night demanding my refund, and of course, no reaction. I sent another email today (November 30th) threatening to take this issue to the next level, at which time I finally I received a response from the manager (Jason Brown) saying that "everyone had been refunded". Huh? Well, apparently everyone except for me, kind of like when they didn't notify me of the issue in the first place? Hmm, right, okay - got it! As of today, I am still not refunded the nearly thousand dollars I am owed. I finally lost my patience with their dishonestly and filed a chargeback. I strongly recommend staying somewhere else (there are many good, local hotels) when you won't need to scour your room changes, and you won't get in trouble for relaxing with some local wine around the firepit.

I am going to let you in on a little secret…read more... Yeah, I'm going to share with you what i THINK is the best kind of getaway, well, at least in my humble opinion. It's the kind that doesn't abruptly end, but it just sort of.... keeps on going. Let me explain. Have you ever gone on vacation and said to yourself, or to your spouse or even to your kids.... "Gee, I could have really used one more night" Or Let out the exaggerated (Ughh)... "I don't want to go back to work tomorrow, I wish we could just extend our trip by just one more day" Well... On a recent trip with my family, We INTENTIONALLY did just that. My wife booked us a 2 night stay in Paso Robles at a beautiful boutique style/chain hotel. (The Ava Hotel in Paso) (Check out my review for the deets) Usually, when we do these short, weekend trips, I work up until the day of our trip and then go back the very next day once we return... But, NOT THIS TIME! Yeah, This time, my wife intentionally told me, let's book one more night on the way home from our trip in Paso just to break up the drive home and enjoy one more day off of work and time with the fam. Heck, I've got loads of PTO and who wants to be at work anyway, so it wasn't too hard to twist my arm on this one. And just like that.... Solvang, Here we Come! Yes, the cute, quaint town of Solvang is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway or even just for a one night stay like we did. Of course, my wife, the Queen of finding the best places to stay/eat... (AND I AM THE ONE WHO IS THE "ELITE" haha) booked us a room at the Landsby hotel and it was nothing short of a treat. Here's why: The Landsby is more than just a room... Inside of a hotel... Located in the heart of this Danish town known as: SOLVANG It wasn't just, "let's build a hotel where the people can stay and explore the town while they are here". At least that's not the impression it gave me! Instead, The Landsby has a Charm about, it has Character and most of all it gives you the impression that you are in a modern-day Dutch village. But one of my favorite parts.... The Room Key, keyword, "KEY" Yeah! The room key is an actual Key!!! A metal, lock and key, just like the good 'ol days! Ain't no digital, pre-programmed, modern day, technologically advanced system like every other hotel does it.... And I liked it! And to match the old school style key... The t.v is in black and white, the internet is run on dial up and the telephone is a rotary dial..... JUST KIDDING!!!! But wouldn't that be cool! Aside from the small town European vibe that the exterior of the building gives you, once you step inside both the hotel and then your room, you are immediately transported to a place that feels welcoming, familiar and most of all comfortable. Because this was a short stay (just a one nighter) we didn't take advantage of the amenities like we normally do, but next time we will. A lobby bar (our favorite place to check out), an onsite restaurant (Mad & Vin which loos really good), an outdoor courtyard to sit and relax, and complimentary cruiser bikes to explore the town. The Landsby is Pet friendly, so definitely check out their webpage for details for your furry friends. So....... Now that I've let you in on my little secret, I don't want you to keep it that way! Spread the word! Pass it along! Tell a friend! Come check out the Landsby in Solvang!!

I advised them I had already prepaid. They advised me they would release hold in 2-3 days. I called the 3rd party to advise the above. They called Winston staff as they shortly after sent me a text. Waking up on January 1st in such a beautiful, well-maintained hotel set exactly the right tone for the year ahead. If you're looking for a blend of style, comfort, and great service, I highly recommend staying here. We will definitely be back!

On April 9, I cancelled my reservation. On the 10th I received an email from their manager Katie F to call I with my credit card information for the refund due to a change in their system. On April 11, I called to provide my information. The person I spoke with was quite rude until she learned that Katie was the person that told me to call it. I provided my card information. However, I never received a refund. On April 18th I emailed Katie regarding the refund but haven't heard back as of today, May 1.

Atterdag Inn - This double bed room is nice & spacious. It was helpful to have a full sized dining table & additional seating options other than the bed

Quaint but quirky - part hotel, part airbnb. A decent (and reasonably priced) last-minute find…read more You check in by key code (no front desk) and have a number to call in case of any problems. We had to call several times: For more towels, for more instant coffee (there's an electric kettle in a small kitchen with a microwave), and to figure out how to work the TV (which had a box literally hanging off of it and dangling down the wall), apparently not an uncommon issue since there's a note saying to call before 9 pm if the TV won't work. We also had to specifically request the breakfast and 2-for-1 wine tasting coupons advertised. That said, each time someone helpfully turned up (or offered to do so). But each time it also felt like the bare minimum (how many towels do you want; how many coffee packets?) Also had ants in the kitchen and had to text several times to get that taken care of; returned to a room smelling like unpleasant disinfectant and ... ants. Room was otherwise clean and cute. Bed was big and comfortable. Sheets / linens somewhat basic but not at all bad. We were in No. 2, which had a nice sitting area and lots of light if you don't mind everyone walking past on the street seeing you. And they kindly moved someone else who was just arriving around so we could stay put for another night and not switch rooms. Surprisingly quiet from the outside, though. Inside, another story. I don't know what they were doing above us - one can only imagine - but it went until well after midnight and started up again around 7 am. Tromping and banging that made our whole room shake a bit. Didn't hear our neighbors to the side or anything from the courtyard (also cute and a nice place to sit in the morning). All this said, I'd recommend, and I'd stay there again. We looked at a few hotels before choosing this one and it was by far nicer than most of them, with bigger rooms and just a better vibe.
