I was astonished by how beautiful the grounds are here. And the hotel is very well-run, with rooms that are pleasant, stylish and nicely maintained. The real show stoppers are the public spaces, inside and out. The more you look, the more you see....it's a real gem. Fun facts: The back of the property fronts on a residential street. There, the hotel looks like a single-family ranch home. Super cool. And the property is flanked on either side by two very small and tidy churches. In other words, the Hotel Ynez is a random mix of ingredients that come together to create something unique and special. All in all, the bang for the buck is quite good and I would definitely stay here again. For me, the following are NOT deal breakers, but good to know ahead of time: The staff is hands-off but always available. Personally, I prefer it this way. But this is not high-touch hospitality. This place is very close to lots of great restaurants and attractions that are NOT walkable. This is a true roadside motel (albeit a very high-end-one). We were here midweek and it was super quiet and peaceful. But I can easily see this place being overrun by a block of wedding guests or worse yet, a bachelorette group, and becoming an entirely different scene. We slept great, but you will hear cars whizzing by on the road. I consider this a normal part of the motel experience, but for people who don't want it, it's there. It's not loud to me, but it does create constant white noise. It's almost like staying at the ocean. Getting a room further away from the street helps. Perhaps this is related to above. Music is played over an outdoor sound system. The music was fine, and it's not loud, but it was definitely there. Pet peeve: I don't need to hear anyone's canned setlist before noon. My life does not need your soundtrack. And I'd turn down the volume a notch or two. There are no freebies here except complementary (bad) brewed coffee and tea in the morning. No free bottled water or welcome snacks. It's not a big deal, but I don't think two free half liters of Arrowhead is too much to expect. Me, my partner, and our pup Enzo had the best time at Hotel Ynez. We booked it to celebrate our anniversary and left feeling so relaxed and happy. We stayed in the Garden Suite, which was a corner room with its own private outdoor space -- a soaking tub, dining patio, and fire pit. Unfortunately, the fire pit didn't work during our stay, but there are plenty of communal fire pits sprinkled throughout the beautiful central courtyard, so it wasn't a big loss. This renovated motel‑style hotel is a hidden gem, and I'm so grateful we found it. They are extremely dog‑friendly. There's a lovely grassy field with doggy bags and a trash can right outside the room, plus tons of seating areas, bocce ball, a pool with great lounge chairs, and a little shop with cute items like books, wine, home goods, and more. The lobby opens into a charming living‑room‑style space and a cozy coffee/tea room that feels like being in someone's beautifully curated home. You can really see the attention to detail -- the art, the books, the sculptures, everything feels intentional. One thing I have to highlight is the incredible oak tree that creates the most magical shade canopy during the day and a dreamy "roof" under the night sky. It's stunning and made me so happy every time I walked by. The grounds are peaceful and perfect for relaxing. I appreciated that the pool area is 18+ -- such a nice touch for a couples' getaway. It would be lovely to have a bar or restaurant on‑site, especially for the pool area, but it wasn't a problem. We grabbed what we needed from the market next door. They made our anniversary feel special, and the room itself was quiet with a very comfortable bed. The local small‑business toiletries (lotion, hand wash, shampoo, conditioner) added a luxurious touch. The AC worked well but was extremely loud when it kicked on, so keep that in mind if you're a light sleeper -- we didn't need it much thanks to the perfect weather. It created such a great community feeling, and everyone was able to catch up throughout the wedding weekend. Coffee service in the morning was a great plus, and we spent a few days before the wedding with the bridal party, which was the best way to kick off the wedding weekend! We loved sitting around the fire pits at night, swimming in the pool, or hanging out in the rooms, which had the most comfortable beds. Highly recommend, and can't wait to come back! read more

Gorgeous property! Rooms and public spaces were stunning from the furnishings to the landscape. Our room was a bit strange, with our door opening to the lobby area, but it was actually quite nice to be close to the morning coffee (which we thought was good with a nice selection of milks, sweeteners, and REAL COFFEE CUPS!) Our patio faced the residential street at the back of the property. We had our own fire pit (lovely) and it was very quiet back there. The staff was helpful and friendly. The pool was adorable, very small, but fortunately the hotel was not crowded so we were able to get chairs. There was a nice water station both in the lobby (real glasses) and by the pool (nice plastic) and the lounges were comfy. Although it is close to lots of good spots (nice market and some great restaurants) there is no sidewalk so it is really not walkable. Only "issue" was that the parking lot is dirt/gravel (didn't love that for my car) and it's quite a far walk back to the lobby, which was not marked and a bit tricky to find. But overall, we loved the vibe and would definitely visit again, especially for a quiet mid-week trip. read more

Hotel Ynez was amazing! I discovered this gem on Hotel Tonight recently, and my husband and I thought it was so cute. The ambience, service, and decor were top-notch. I had seen it advertised a few times, but never made the decision to stay. I'm so glad that we finished our 2024 at this hotel. They had fire pits outside and there was a lovely heated pool that we did not use, but would enjoy in the future. They offer coffee and hot chocolate in the mornings and had a kitchen area set up in the lobby if you wanted to use it. There was also a Nespresso in the room, which was a huge plus. They offered bathrobes and cute local amenities too! I cannot say enough good things about this place. The service was also wonderful. I can't wait to return here! It was such a great stay. Chic contemporary meets California heat within an old school motor court that has been revamped and infused with new life, gardens and grounds! Recommended to me by an acquaintance, I visited the website and felt intrigued. I will dapple in high end hippie chic if there's a pop of lux and the grounds grabbed me. I love grounds and gardens. It was also in Santa Ynez which, for my numerous visits to Los Olivos or Santa Barbara, I'd never visited. So that held an appeal. We jumped into it and ventured north. We absolutely loved our time, our room and this motel! Let me just say, they must be bringing in those baked goods for breakfast from Solvang because they were the best I've ever had. Yes, indeed. Our room was off the check in lobby with a small rear terrace. It was snug, but comfortable and the bathroom had great natural light. I felt very comfortable here. Zero complaints. Our private outdoor patio was lovely with a fire pit but I often found myself walking the front gardens and enjoying the numerous seating spots. We didn't walk anywhere from the motel but it was July in Santa Ynez so not exactly the time of year for that but downtown Santa Ynez was not far and had some great clothing shops and a cute breakfast restaurant. We had some great dinners while here and wine country was so close. We skipped that this trip but can attest there are excellent wines produced in this region so worth exploring for the vinophile. I really loved this motel (btw the AC worked perfectly!). I hope it doesn't blow up in popularity and become difficult to book but if you are planning a getaway to Santa Ynez Valley, this place has broad appeal... let me say. read more

We had the most wonderful stay last week for my bday- the website and pictures (which, don't get me wrong, are beautiful) don't fully do this place justice as it's even more vibrant, enchanting, charming, and one of a kind than anticipated. I loved that we were a short drive from every major town in the area but removed enough so it felt like a retreat. Laying at night on their super comfy (yet stylish) outdoor furniture and taking in the beautiful star-scape hanging above restored my soul. The fire pits are fire, the coffee in the morning is actually really good (previous reviews stated it wasn't but I think they took more and improved) and the entire staff was so kind and accommodating. We stayed in one of the king size beds (cottage 19 I think) it was beautiful with a bed that melted into (and I'm not a soft mattress person but this bed was next level comfy and my back felt great). The rooms are really nice, beautifully decorated and fully equipped with amenities. each room has a hammock in the front and is within short walking distance to fire pits. The pool is darling but tiny. It's so fun to be at this place, we made memories and we're so happy while we were there. I love this hotel and we absolutely loved our stay. Everyone was so nice and friendly, the Hammock on our mini porch was the perfect way to relax and unwind after a swim in the heated, salt water pool and the fireplace in the room made the ambiance cozy and warm at night. The posh outdoor furniture with games, fire pits and tiki torches amongst the lush, beautiful trees made it feel like a mini vacation house vs. a hotel and the continental breakfast looked yummy, (Yogurt, Pastries, Fruit), despite only being able to eat the fruit, lol. But my husband said it was good. There were a few families but not a lot of small kids which helped keep things on the quieter side and the lounge area inside with a mini gift shop is really cute. Oh and GET THE BEEF JERKY- it's SO good. If I am being very picky, the only "cons" would be the bed was a little too high for us and there was no bathtub. Disorganized and Dishonest Handling of Fire Evacuation Cancellation I am incredibly disappointed with the way Hotel Ynez handled my reservation during the Kenneth Fire evacuation. We evacuated from our home Thursday but since Hotel Ynez was fully booked, we stayed somewhere else for the night. We planned to stay at Hotel Ynez starting Friday 1/10. At the time of booking, we were told if we needed to cancel our reservation, we would receive a full credit for future use. On Friday morning, we were relieved to learn the evacuation order was lifted and power restored. I immediately called the hotel, spoke with Beth, and she told us we would be refunded. Based on this assurance, we canceled and returned home. Days later, I found that only a partial refund had been issued. When we called the hotel, Ricky said they did not refund the first night since they were not going to be able to sell the room that day. To which I said, we were not informed of this when we canceled. Then Ricky said it wasn't a full night's rate but rather a non-refundable deposit. To which I said, again, we were not informed of this at the time when we canceled. They insisted Beth had disclosed these policies as it was in their notes, but if that were true, why would I be questioning the charges? Ricky also told us they would not typically refund anything, and they were doing so in consideration of our evacuation situation. However, their company policy is to refund all but the first night. Therefore, no change in policy was made and she is again speaking in error. We tried to resolve this with Beth and Ricky and expressed our frustration with them saying we were lying about what we were told. But they said to take it up with our credit card and hung up on us. This behavior is a bait-and-switch. My suspicion is that they changed their mind about how they were going to handle evacuee's cancellations, which is why they couldn't provide 1 concise explanation for the charges. Instead of honoring their word and treating evacuees with empathy, they are changing their story to fit their gains. This is not only disingenuous, it is a hurtful and insulting way of treating people. I cannot recommend Hotel Ynez to anyone who values honesty, transparency, and compassionate service. read more

Firstly, this place is GORGEOUS. It lived up to the Instagram hype by FAR. I was worried it wouldn't look like the pictures online but I was beyond pleasantly surprised. There is so much outdoor space with lounge chairs, fire pits, a bocce court, tables for a meal outside and lots of big beautiful trees that twinkle at night. They even light up tiki torches at night too! Though it's off of a main road, it still remains pretty quiet. However we were woken up by a screaming child one morning. The hotel is kind of shaped in a circle so if there is a kid in the middle of the courtyard screaming, everyone is going to hear it. Not the best way to wake up, but kids will be kids and what can you do. There were actually many families with small kids staying there the time. There's a small pool with lounge chairs and bikes available to ride. They'll give you helmets too! The hotel is super pet friendly with dog bowls everywhere and a big patch of grass for dogs to hang out. They have breakfast boxes in the morning that had fresh baked muffins and yogurt..all really healthy stuff! A great way to have a COVID friendly continental style breakfast. Each room has a cute boho hammock outside the door, and a little patio with a bistro set to enjoy a drink or snack outside. They even have a little fridge in the lobby with some snacks and drinks for a quick grab and go situation. We stayed in some sort of a deluxe room because it had a fireplace. But the true star of our room was the BAR. Stocked with great mixers and small bottles of alcohol. There were even non alcoholic beverages available in the cool vintage fridge that was in our room too. We actually bought a lot of our own food and drinks from the market just down the street and were able to just have it in our fridge our whole stay which was nice (and saved $ on eating out). Tesla chargers are also available at this hotel. Now for my not so favorite things that I think can be improved on: -bathroom towels were paper thin -bathroom robes were EXTREMELY small...like laughably small. -toilet paper was super low quality (always a bummer at a hotel especially if you are paying over $300 a night!) -No screens on our room's windows. Would have loved to enjoy the nice breeze but wanted to keep bugs out. This hotel however is fully renovated and everything is brand new. Also, our bed was HEAVENLY. Sooo comfortable. Overall, I just think they could improve their bathroom essentials by a great deal. Staff was nice too! You can text them for anything you need and they will respond promptly. The hotel was cute and very bohemian, but the rules of the place are weird and the food situation is weirder. I don't think it was worth the price but I also know there are limited options and they have a nice location so it probably doesn't matter for them. Room was comfortable and clean. Prices on in-room snacks or drinks was INSANE; Vegas insane. Breakfast was slow because the guy at the front desk is also cooking or reheating it all; waiting 45 mins at one point for Luke warm quiche. Loved the hammocks. We got kicked out of the fire area before "curfew" because the staff wanted to go home apparently. So all in all I would def stay here again but I will consider other options. read more

First of all, I want to preface the fact that I have stayed at this particular hotel a few times and have stayed in many hotels in the Santa Ynez Valley (and surrounding communities), including their "sister" property, Skyview in Los Alamos. Although they may have slick marketing and interior design, their customer service is horrific, there are many issues that lie behind the façade. We generally overlook the small issues such as their undrinkable coffee (worst than a Midwest truck stop), their "no outside drink" policy when sitting around the firepits (Really? You know you're a vacation hotel in wine country, right?), and showers that leak everywhere... all of that is tolerable, although it deserves a few demerits at that price point. That's not where the real problems lies... Sadly, during our most recent visit on October 22nd-24th, we encountered an issue that was very troubling. When reviewing my credit card statements on November 5th (roughly ~2 weeks later) we noticed that we were DOUBLE-BILLED for our stay. The grand total should have been $922.16 total for 2 nights, but I ended up getting charged a total of $1,844.62 over 3 different charges. Definitely not a "minor" billing error, but certainly something that can be corrected rather quickly. I immediately contacted the hotel regarding the error, and received a response from the manager (Jason Brown) blaming it on a "PMS issue" (Property Management System), and that the "issue is now resolved", and I should be seeing my refund the following week. Remember, this is after the close of the books for the month of October, and about 2 WEEKS past our checkout. I then responded to him as to why they didn't notify their guests of this KNOWN double-billing situation - even just a simple email would suffice - and he didn't have an answer... he essentially kept blaming it on their booking provider (Amadeus). Hmm... so they knew they were double-billing customers, but neglected to resolve the issue until customers came forward to complain?!? Now, if you ask me, that's extremely shady. In any case, I let the issue go, assuming I would be refunded in the next week. Fast forward to over a month past our checkout (yesterday, November 29th). I was reviewing my credit card statements and noticed that I had never been refunded the $922.16. I also realized I'd never even had follow-up from the manager confirming if I indeed had been refunded. Again, very shady, and absolutely terrible customer service. I sent another email that night demanding my refund, and of course, no reaction. I sent another email today (November 30th) threatening to take this issue to the next level, at which time I finally I received a response from the manager (Jason Brown) saying that "everyone had been refunded". Huh? Well, apparently everyone except for me, kind of like when they didn't notify me of the issue in the first place? Hmm, right, okay - got it! As of today, I am still not refunded the nearly thousand dollars I am owed. I finally lost my patience with their dishonestly and filed a chargeback. I strongly recommend staying somewhere else (there are many good, local hotels) when you won't need to scour your room changes, and you won't get in trouble for relaxing with some local wine around the firepit. read more

This is going to be a long review, so brace yourself. TL, DR: amazing place to stay, staff is friendly and supportive; rooms are spacious, nice outdoor. No issue so far post-checkout. Tip 1: Know that they have a cut-off for checking in at 11 PM. So, if you are running late, give them a call in advance to arrange for staff to be on-site to welcome you. Tip 2: Check with staff about consuming alcohol in the room. Their policy states not to consume alcohol on-site, but they offer alcohol in the room. This is conflicting. So, check with staff to see if you can drink your brought wine in the room. Tip 3: Bicycles are free to use; check with the front desk. Electric bicycles are not cost by the hour. PARKING They have a small parking in the front. It should not be as crowded as Saturday if you arrive on Friday night. On Saturday, it is almost packed around check-in time. If there is no more parking space, give them a call, and they will direct you to their parking in the back. They will ask for your car information (make and model) at check-in, or you can request a parking pass instead to put on the dashboard. CHECK-IN The check-in office is right in the middle, with the pool and breakfast place next. Upon entering the office, I can see a spacious but cozy waiting room with a sofa, fireplace, and Christmas tree. Their marketplace next to the office is smaller than what I saw in the photo on their website, mostly filled with local products. I am informed that a $100 hold will be placed in my account and released at the end of my stay. I saw another review about being double charged for the stay, so I was super cautious when I received the pre-check-in email and decided not to complete it because they asked me to enter my credit card again. Could this be the reason? I am not sure. But so far, I have not seen my charges being doubled. ROOMS I book two deluxe rooms, and they are super spacious. Yet, the two rooms are completely different in their structure and interior decoration. My parents' room has a full-size fridge and small coffee table, while mine has a mini fridge and no coffee table. This is new and exciting because it will be a different stay experience depending on which room you get. Though, my two rooms have a gas fireplace, huge TV (I saw a comment talking about small TVs, and I was like, you called this small?), a super cozy bed, outstanding bathroom with local products that are great (according to my mom, who is now totally into their hair conditioner - and they have it for sale for $25 at the marketplace next to the office). They also stock masks and wipes in the bathroom for guests to use, which we take advantage of. The only downside of our rooms is the air conditioners. They blow directly to our bed, and we cannot adjust the direction up to the ceiling. We have to use the decorative pillow to redirect a portion of it away from our beds. Back to the wet bar, it is a serious wet bar. Unlike hotels I have been to where they give you a coffee machine, coffee pods, tea bags, and call it done, this place stocks their wet bars with alcohol, ice maker, glasses, and tools for cocktails. But I am like, don't you say that you prohibit guests from consuming alcohol on-site, as stated on your website and small booklet? At this point, I realize (and may not be true, so don't quote me) that we can consume the drink in the room, but not outside. Nevertheless, we decide not to have alcohol, just in case we get fined. But I would recommend you check it with staff next time to understand their policy because it is really conflicting after knowing that they offer alcohol in the room. Note that the alcohol bottles will cost you and not for free. The only free things at the wet bar are coffee and tea bags. BREAKFAST Their continental breakfast is filled with the basis: oat milk, cereal, milk, yogurt, toasts, eggs, jam, honey, fruits, coffee, and tea bags. Their strawberry jam is delicious, and I highly recommend trying it. They also have two pitchers of juice if you are not into coffee and tea for breakfast. The dining room is somewhat small (three tables, each with three chairs), but they have an outdoor dining area right outside, on the deck, though it's too cold to sit there. Decent breakfast, as you can expect from any continental breakfast place. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES All the pillows and mattresses for outdoor seating/daybeds are put away in the morning for washing on Saturday and returned in the evening. Their bicycles are free to use, just need to talk to the front desk, but the electric ones come with a fee. CONCLUSION This place is amazing and worth staying when visiting Solvang/Santa Ynez. This hotel fell FAR below our expectations for the very high price we paid. We expected a luxury experience and it felt like a cheap motel. Some issues included extremely loud and outdated AC units that were so loud that with the AC noise from the next room over we couldn't sleep with the windows open. Our water pressure periodically dropped to a trickle while showering or using the sink. The lights would flicker when we tried to turn them on. And the bedding felt cheap and not very comfortable. My family lives locally so I know that this was a cheap motel that was given a facelift with beautiful designing, but it still very much feels like a cheap motel. This was our wedding weekend so we booked a hotel that was nearby but on par, price wise with the luxury amenities at the Ballard Inn. This fell VERY short of our expectations of a hotel that cost over $1000 dollars for two nights. read more

Before we checked-in, we walked around the Solvang shops, it was hot and crowded, my baby was crying, my dog was barking... hot mess! Who knew a less than 10 min drive away was the peaceful and serene Hotel Ynez!! We were so happy to see the beautiful landscaping and big trees. Lots of places to sit and chill under the shade. Once we got there, I didn't want to leave! There were hammocks and a private patio in front of each unit. There are bikes to ride and firepits. At night they turn on the laterns and lights, super pretty. There is a small pool, also. They have a little grocery with sodas, beer, wine and artisan goods from local vendors. There are not many food delivery options, but lots of restaurants a short drive away. They provide a breakfast box with yogurt and muffins, nothing special, but a little something to hold you over until lunch. No fridge in our room. Dog friendly with lots of spots to walk. Dogs must be on leash. It is close enough to everything, but also far enough away! It was very chill! It changed the vibe of our staycation! I will be back, for 2 nights next time! read more

As you walk in from the parking lot you see the courtyard with fire pits and cozy chairs, trees with lanterns that turn on at night and give it such a romantic feel. The staff here was super friendly and professional. They really made us feel welcome. The room itself was nice and had a clean modern look. They also have a Keurig in the room for your morning coffee. The bedding was so comfortable. And each room has a hammock right outside your door! They also have bicycles and helmets you can use to ride around town, how cute! It's off a main road but honestly you don't even notice it. My boyfriend and I went on a Monday and it was so quiet and perfect. We grabbed dinner at a nearby Italian restaurant, brought it back to this place and sat under a big beautiful tree while the lanterns and fire pits were on and it was just so peaceful and romantic. A lovely boutique hotel with a gorgeous outdoor space. There are plenty of benches and two large fire pits and outdoor games. There's a pool as well. It was easy to book, all staff was friendly and helpful. Limited parking, one per unit, which makes sense. It's not the kinda hotel where you can hold a party in the room. The continental breakfast had pasties and mini quiche from local bakeries. A selection of juices, cereals, and yogurts as well. I had my quiche and cinnamon roll next to the fire pit it was lovely. Wifi is good and reached outside. The room was super cute; a TV with streaming services, a full bar and snacks at a cost of course. The bathroom necessities were nice and sold at the hotel store. My only complaint is the mattress, it's far too soft. Fluffy soft where you sink in and unfortunately makes it hard to easily climb out of bed. I was talking to a group of older guest at breakfast and they had significant trouble getting out of the beds. As long as I stay one MAYBE two nights, the sleeping should be fine. I really loved the property. Each room had a hammock in front. I'd definitely stay again. read more

This place is very beautiful and rooms are very chic and lovely. The landscaping and fire pits/torches make lounging outside at night very relaxing. However, there are many issues with this place that need to be fixed to justify this price point. First of all, after enjoying the fire pit for around 40 minutes, a staff member comes up to our family at 9:35 pm and lets us know she will be shutting it off now. Not "in five minutes" but "now". Meaning she stood there while we all looked at each other and realized our conversation was essentially over and we had to gather our items and go back to our separate rooms since as she said it was "almost 10 pm". It felt very strange and abrupt to give us no warning and instead kick us out, at 9:30 on a Saturday night. I understand having a curfew of 10 pm, maybe even shutting the torches and fire off at 9:50, but it was just such an awkward moment and kind of disappointing for how expensive this hotel is. The rooms themselves are also very very small for the price, and I don't think the aesthetic or amenities make up for this. No central A/C or heating, instead there is a loud wall unit that doesn't leave for a great nights sleep. The bed is very comfortable, but the rooms don't come with a fridge, and the icemaker is not the most sanitary as the scoop is just thrown inside where the ice touches. I know that's being picky but again, this claims to be a boutique hotel that charges a lot for what it really is. At the very least the service and amenities should be top notch to make up for the room size/utilities. read more

Stayed 1 night and was definitely not worth $450. Pros: Really well designed rooms and property. The fire pit and outdoor tables were a nice space to relax in and watch the sunset. Cons: Room: Bed was a bit stiff and the pillows were very thick and uncomfortable. A lot of flies in the room but it was hot and it's an outdoor entry so not surprising. We also lost hot water at one point luckily it was a hot day. Pool: We asked about late checkout the first night because the pool was dirty when we arrived and the front desk said we have to ask the same day as checkout. Fast forward to the next day and they didn't allow late checkout and the pool was still dirty. They also don't enforce the ages 21+ pool rules and there were a lot of loud kids. Breakfast: 'Breakfast' in the description was misleading, light snack would be more accurate. Yogurt, bananas, and a few muffins was not what I expected. For $450 / night I would have appreciated a bit more effort. read more

Absolutely the cutest! This place is so beautiful and romantic. My fiancé took me on a surprise weekend away and I absolutely am so thrilled with this new spot to stay in Solvang. Solvang wine tasting is always one of my favorites but, the hotels are never that good so, this new little gem is going to keep me coming back again & again for some R&R. They have adorable hammocks attached to each room and little tables out front of each cottage also. The pool is super cute and fun to hang out with a cocktail and enjoy the sunshine.. I couldn't find one thing about this place that isn't perfect. I can't wait to come back already! read more

What a gem of a location! Have stayed here 4-5 times, including during my wedding week a year ago. Stayed in the garden suite and several guests at the wedding booked other rooms. Came back this weekend to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and stayed in the deluxe room. Have never had a bad experience. Front desk staff are always friendly and helpful. Rooms always clean. Love the ambiance and decor. Nice that some light bites for breakfast are available starting at 730am including some coffee, OJ, champagne. We came back for our anniversary this year and there was a nice bottle of champagne waiting for us. What a thoughtful gesture. Love the fire pits going early in the morning and also in the evening. Would highly recommend this spot to anyone coming to town. Some favorite stops while here have included SY Kitchen, Nellas, The Red Barn for steak oMG! Bobs well bread for lunch and have loved going to Gainey up The road for a very laid back wine tasting experience. read more

What a remarkable place! The outdoor landscaping is incredible like a hideaway oasis with fire pits, tables, couches and a litany of trees. It's magical. The rooms were so bright, beautiful, and peaceful. You feel like you're in a glamorous retreat in your own cabin complete with a bar, coffee machine, and epic views. We arrived on a Sunday (Dec 12) at 1pm. The place appeared to be deserted, no guest in sight, nobody at reception desk. We found some staff in a meeting. We were told check in is at 3pm. No, "Welcome, how can we help." We asked if any rooms were available for early check in. The response, "We are in a meeting, come back at 3pm." That was super disappointing. But the rooms are nice and the outdoor area is really cool. The free breakfast is not great. Also they have a strange rule: no outside alcohol allowed. Really? In wine country? read more

Had high hopes for this place, but sadly there were a few questionable management decisions that were not handled with good judgment. The experience was unsettling. I'm pretty disappointed. Our room didn't have a CLOSET or dresser. Room 3. It would have been nice for us to know this before booking. The kettle was hardly ever ready in the lobby; it was empty and or cold on Sunday. It would have been nice for someone to ensure that there's enough cups, food and water for the guests instead of the guests consistently having to ask for everything. The rooms were not cleaned and not enough towels or toilet paper was provided to accommodate a long weekend stay. Not enough k cups were in the rooms for a 3 day 2 night visits. Beautiful boutique hotel with an amazing grounds. Dog friendly and clean! Which was a surprise to me. The grounds are really so beautiful that they must be enjoyed if you stay here. I want to be selfish and keep this gem from becoming THE place to stay in the Santa Ynez Valley but it definitely already is! The grounds are lovely and beckon you to relax and enjoy your surroundings. The rooms are well appointed and the beds are super comfortable. I particularly loved the toiletries-Fable Soap Company wash and lotion and The Vanity Project's face and eye masks! This place was so perfect, we couldn't wait to return to our hotel after our wine tastings and enjoy our take out dinner al fresco on our patio paired by a delicious bottle of wine. Super cute property. Hands down. Clean and beautiful. Unfortunately customer service is CRAP. They insisted we can not check in until after 3pm, we show up at 3:06pm, and no one was in the lobby! We waited 39 minutes for someone to show up. That's insane. If you make us wait to check in, you should at least have the courtesy to have a person available to check you into the room- beautiful property tho! read more
