This "Motel" was such an unexpected surprise! Yes, the rooms are (very!) small, but are also really cute, and they made great use of the space, especially the bathroom, though I would've liked a counter for all of my stuff. For the price (we booked on Hotel Tonight for about $180/night), it's a screaming deal! The property has clearly been recently renovated, the staff is super friendly, it's at the top of a hill, it has an amazing view of the surrounding hills, and it has a cool mid century modern vibe. They have a nice restaurant on the property, and, while we didn't eat there, we did have some cocktails, and they were great. There is no gym, so getting a workout may have to be a hike on many of the nearby trails or a short walk to town to try some of the fantastic food the town has to offer. Bonus: a heated pool and FREE TESLA CHARGERS, and nobody was using them for the two days we were there. Is it the four seasons? No, but I would totally stay there again.

When I think about motel I didn't except it to be like this It's so modern , situations in the hilltop with a lovely view of the vineyard/freeway ! The room/amenities where great with a affordable price ' They have a outdoor heated pool ( still too cold for us) on site chic resturant we didn't check in but purchase a bottle of wine to enjoyed sitting in the outside fireplace ! Coffee and tea was provided every morning and staff are amazing ! Definetly will revisit if we head that way !

    French toast was good.

Is it beautiful and a great location ... yes. But the team that serves is really lethargic. It was everyone that works here. So, come for the views and be ready to take care of yourself. It took over 30 minutes for a cup of coffee. It took over an hour for food. There was only one other table ordering food and four people working.

Charming bedroom. From bed. Not much floor space in this room.

Beautiful spot right off the 101 in Los Alamos. It certainly has a cool vibe. They're located on top of a little hill which gives you some beautiful views. You'll have to drive up to reception and then back down again so you can go up the other side of the hill to your room. Our room was a little small. Not much room to stretch or do yoga. The bed was firm and comfortable. Shower and bath were clean and really nice. It was rainy and cold on our trip so we made use of the fireplace. It certainly warmed the room up and kept it warm the whole night. There's a restaurant on site. It's convenient but was nothing special. The most memorable part were all the flys in the restaurant. It was odd. Overall, a unique, hip experience.

Traveling up the 101 at Los Alamos we would see the mid-Century SkyView Motel. We decided to stay a night. What a treat! It takes you back in time to the 1950's (in a great way). Single level rooms, thoughtfully remodeled and designed. The brochure said sound proof wall snd they were. Didn't hear a sound from the rooms next door. Beautiful central courtyard filled with a fountain, fire pit, and inviting seating areas. There is also a beautiful deck off the reception office with views over the vineyards. Very nice bath supplies. Here's a bit of interesting trivia, THE BEATLES stayed here in room 33. Imagine yourself back in the 50's lounging by the pool with a cocktail reading a fabulous book. You will want to hang around the pool all day. Full bar access with Norman's restaurant adjacent. The Skyview motel will be a regular stop for us from now on

LOVE IT!!!! and the hotel restaurant Norman... wonderful. Especially dinner. The steak and shrimp, yummy. Not the shrimp though. But the steak and the accompanying French whipped potatoes were next level. Wine, so so. I mean you're amidst some fantastic vineyards and makers, so you could do better. The service at dinner and at breakfast were just the best!!!!!! There's a nice little pool, adult only, with bar service. The rooms are darling as well. Really comfy beds and nice bathrooms. All told, a wonderful place to stay.

A nice find along the way to SB from up north after our awesome road trip. Upscale boutiquey 1950s motel. Would give this place a 10 stars if there is one! Found it online last minute, one hour before checking in. Priscilla took care of us and made us feel so welcome. Such a sweetheart. The service was excellent and we even received a welcoming rose at the restaurant! Thank you Priscilla. The room is small but beautiful, super clean.. luxe feel. 24 hour service! The only minor complaint- we didn't like the pillows - too thick and firm! Hard to sleep with such high pillows. The views of the property overlooking the wineries are simply spectacular. Plan to come back with my friends for a girls weekend. Highly recommend!

False advertising. There actually isn't any of the breakfast that is listed- the restaurant is closed.

False advertising, lack of communication, and a general lack of care for the guests. We used to really love this place and have celebrated two separate birthday trips and special occasions here. Unfortunately our latest stay was a sharp downturn from the place we knew and loved. We decided to come for the "stay and dine" package as last time we visited we really enjoyed breakfast on the patio. The "stay and dine" package was advertised as a $50 credit at Norman, which we were excited to use for breakfast. The website says Norman is open for breakfast Monday-Friday, 8-10:30am. However, when we went to the restaurant (during their posted business hours) for breakfast, we were surprised to find it was actually closed. My husband and I are big fans of breakfast and love going to diners- it's sort of our special thing we do. If we had known, we probably would've opted to stay somewhere different. Or if they had informed us, we could've used the credit for some fun cocktails the night before or whatever. It would've been fine if we'd been informed about this, and/or if the website accurately reflected their dining choices & the limitations on the credit. I think the thing that irked me the most is when I let them know their website is out of date, the restaurant is actually closed, and we were unable to use our credit, they gaslit me and said it was "an improved experience to guests". I actually found it to be disappointing. I asked if there was anything else we could do to redeem the credit (maybe some waters at the mini bar) they said no. I would have to say that having up to date website info, and informing your guests accurately about the services/amenities that are available is crucial. Anything else is really false advertising. Side note- they provided the wrong information about our room as well. We were told there was no fridge in our room, but there was one. (They also didn't know the correct code to their own bike locks!) Due to this, I will not be returning here. Who knows what you'll get -and if anything on the website/what you're told about their property is actually even correct, lol.

Engagement by Snm-media.com at this awesome place !! Total fan!

It was a wonderful grown-up getaway, our kids stashed with my mom in another country. Relaxing and deeply enjoyable, with great accommodations and lots of wine. One thing to note, for those booking online--there's a shady website that paid Google for higher placement in the search results than the actual hotel website, and if you book through them, they will charge you hundreds of dollars in excess fees. I fell for this stupid trap and was lucky to get my money back before rebooking through the hotel site and permanently switching my search engine to DuckDuckGo. The Inn at Mattei's Tavern is expensive enough to begin with. It's a very nice hotel, but I didn't think the price point was quite justified--maybe we got squeezed because there was a wedding on the property during our stay and we weren't part of the block. The $60 resort fee is also ridiculous. All that said, it was a lovely hotel, and easily the most high-end in the small town of Los Olivos. Mattei's Tavern has a long history, going back to 1886, when it was a popular stagecoach stop. The hotel's aesthetic leans accordingly western--a little horsey, a little ranchy, with cowboy hats for sale in the lobby shop. It is also, though, a modern California luxury hotel, expensively renovated in the not-too-distant past. The staff was friendly and helpful, both over the phone and in person. We were eligible for an upgrade if available because of a random Mercedes Benz partnership (I drive a Mercedes), but I guess there wasn't one, likely because of the wedding. The Mercedes promotion was good for a $100 food and beverage credit, which we redeemed at the Tavern, the hotel's excellent restaurant. We also enjoyed welcome drinks at check-in, made with whiskey, ginger, and lemon, and soft caramels that came with turndown service. We took home a complimentary bottle of Presqu'ile wine, from a vineyard in Santa Maria. This was in addition to the many wines we purchased at local tasting rooms over our brief stay, which a hard-working bellman helped us schlep out of our room. We got a patio king studio, and it was clean, comfortable, roomy, and attractive. There was a small living area that wasn't especially useful. The fireplace was cool, and I liked that it could be used inside the room or on the patio. There was a pool, which maybe started to justify the resort fee, and we visited our first morning to relax before heading out to drink wine. The vibe was pleasant, a lot of adults chilling quietly with books. If you travel fancy and want to visit Los Olivos, The Inn at Mattei's Tavern is the place to stay. We had a wonderful time in this cute, walkable, wine-soaked town, and hope to come back again soon.

The property itself is stunning, luxurious but warm, with a relaxed wine-country feel that makes it easy to settle in whether you're there for work or leisure. The rooms are beautifully done with a modern farmhouse style: tasteful décor, high-end fixtures, and really solid furniture that feels both comfortable and thoughtfully chosen. Everything was clean, well maintained, and felt upscale without being over the top. It was the kind of room you actually look forward to coming back to after a long day. Food was another highlight. Every meal was consistently great well prepared, flavorful, and clearly made with quality ingredients. It made the whole retreat experience feel elevated without being formal or stiff. The staff deserves special mention. Everyone I interacted with was incredibly kind, professional, and attentive. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and created a very welcoming atmosphere throughout the stay. And a fun bonus: they had four Mercedes vehicles available for use. Overall, The Tavern at Los Olivos delivered on every level comfort, style, service, and location.
