The small onsite bar. Got a couple free drink coupons which was nice.

I'm giving this place 5 stars based on a variety of factors and knowing what it is and what it isn't. It's not an upscale 5 star resort hence the term "Motel" that is appropriately used. It gets 5 stars based on location, value and cool/hipster value. Perfectly situated in the middle of the main albeit not that busy main drag. You can walk in 5-7 minutes in either direction to get to the edges of town. Many eateries including a Michelin star restaurant across the street. A few very neat shops up and down the street and a couple of convenience stores etc. excellent breakfast lunch and dinner options and several quaint wine and beer tasting rooms. Would be nice if the motel had a pool like the sky view but it does have very nice well kept outdoor seating areas with a firepit and a small free standing bar serving drinks all day and until 9-10 at night. The staff of young ladies here were super helpful, friendly and delightful. That really makes a difference in a stay at a small place like this. I highly recommend the Sunday thru Thursday stays which range from $110-$179 a night depending on room choice. The standard rooms are pretty small but AC works well and the water pressure here is unreal!!!!! The highest pressure I've ever felt! The Skyview up the hill is definitely nicer but almost 2X the price and not a walk to town. We got the king suite which had a full kitchen, outdoor sitting area, dining room, living room and nice separate bedroom and bath. Could actually live in the space if it has a washer and dryer! I love staying somewhere that parking is free, not valet, and no resort fee! No free breakfast and the always dangerous in room snacks that are overpriced and no coffee or water in the rooms but you have spa water in the office and string coffee at 8 am in the office. They really do need to offer half n half with it as opposed to oat and almond milk or 2% milk. This added to my labeling this place as hipster but not in a bad way. I'm sure I will be returning for the rustic folksy yet hipster in town experience. Just know almost nothing is open on Mondays except Charlie's which btw is awesome!

We love this motel. Friendly staff. In the center of town. Fire pit is amazing. Rooms are very comfortable.

We had a comfortable and clean room with daily maid service and a reasonable mini-bar in the center of town with free parking. It is an old, converted road-side hotel. Not fancy but a great location for a decent stay.

This motel is cute, simple and affordable!. There's a really cute courtyard area, with a sitting area and a fire pit. During these covid-times, masks are required in the courtyard area. Also during these times, there is no housekeeping. Your room has cleaning supplies for you to keep it tidy, at your leisure. As well, it's a contact-less check-in/checkout process. Upon booking, you'll be provided with info on how to check in. Super cute spot, and I'll definitely be back.

A cute motel tucked away in wine country! Love the outside of this motel cacti everywhere! Inside was nice, cute decor. Water pressure in shower was fantastic. A/C was super cold. Very cozy bed. Cannot beat this price. If you're hungry, be sure to check our PICO right across the street. Ask for Jessica, she was a great server when my husband and I visited. Not sure what we ordered but our photos in to view!

This hotel is in terrible shape and they did a really lame attempt at a remodel. The rooms have exposed subfloors, walls in the bathrooms are peeling, torn curtain liners without a shower curtain, single pane windows, paper thin walls, completely worn out hide on the floor. Only real perk is the location is great. Don't spend more than $100 to stay here, it's not worth it.

I'm glad we chose the Alamo Motel over the Skyview. The Skyview it turns out is next to the freeway opposite Los Alamos and it isn't mentioned in their website. From the Alamo you can walk to all the restaurants and there is a market next door. All very convenient. The guy that checked us in was very nice, welcoming and friendly as was the nice young lady who came to help us figure out how to work the TV. We arrived about a half hour early and he let us check in. I noticed they had Palo Santo sticks in the office and he let us take one with us which was awesome. I would like to mention is that I read some of the reviews after our stay and I just shook my head and laughed. Some of the people should just stick to Courtyard Marriott or Best Western if they are going to be triggered by decor that is creative, artsy with a hip vibe. The wood floors were so cool and unique. The bed was comfy like a cloud. The handcrafted furniture was very unique and cool. The bathroom had Saltillo tile and a cute clamshell sink. Yeah, the walls are a little thin, but I have stayed in many different places and it's common even high end places. That's how it is, bring earplugs in case, geez. The room was clean, the AC was nice, and unlike other reviews there was plenty of hot water. There are beautiful cactus' around the property and the one in front of our room bloomed at night! We are looking forward to coming back.

Lounge room. Coffee and tea in the morning!

Okay okay... I'll admit I was a bit sketched out by google reviews having two mentions of bed bugs... I mean I know ANY motel/hotel can get bed bugs.. they like to travel too lol. BUT after getting over that and checking the mattress/area ourselves we settled in and really enjoyed our stay! I'll address a few things others mentioned: NOT MANY PLACES OPEN TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY. Like only two spots with $$$$$$$ signs haha. We ventured to Solvang for sausage and beer for dinner - not a big deal and only 20mins away. Lighting / yes not the brightest lighting in the rooms (although the bathroom light is SO bright haha). But we don't mind moodier lighting and prefer it to relax and unwind. Lysol smell / more like pinesol lol... definitely there and strong but we'd rather know a place is clean? Maybe a lighter scented cleaner could be used though. Shower / idk if the water in it was nice - we skipped showers during our stay cause it was a shorter visit. But yes, out of everything the shower could use updating! It does look overlooked and doesn't fit the rest of the "vibes". Other than that, it was a super cute decorated place!! Loved the idea of s'mores and how it made it more communal. FOR VEGANS / there is animal skin on the floor lolol I mean it was branded... but could still just be fake? Idk if that even matters to you haha!

We are coming down March 18 for a birthday getaway. I make a killer chocolate fondue and would like to bring some with fresh strawberries. Is there access to a microwave anywhere? And photos show a turntable, so am I to assume that we can bring LPs?

I would call to reconfirm but the room I stayed in absolutely had a kitchenette with a microwave. We didn't have a turntable but we had a basic room.

Honestly... we should've just kept driving. When we walked in we were greeted with a blunt "how many?" and then told they'd seat us at a table to accommodate "the big boys." Not exactly the warmest welcome and definitely came off pretty rude. Since there weren't many other options nearby at the time, we decided to stay anyway. Unfortunately the experience didn't really improve from there. The food and drinks were pretty mid at best, and the service throughout the meal wasn't great. The only positive thing I can say is that the space itself is really cute... It's definitely Instagram worthy. But beyond the aesthetics, there wasn't much substance. The whole vibe honestly reminded me of Dick's Last Resort.. except I don't think that was the intention. Will we be back? Definitely not. Next time we'll just keep driving to Santa Maria or AG instead.

There were chairs in front of the desk but we were not invited to sit. She informed us the pool, which was to be opened that day was, in fact, not opening. She informed me we would receive a $25 dollar credit at their restaurant for the inconvenience. This was 1) not adequate on the hottest day of the year, 2) not a restaurant I planned to eat at and 3) the restaurant was mediocre at best. I made a return visit to the desk, hoping to get a more satisfactory compensation and the attendant was indifferent, saying she would pass my disappointment along. She said she sent emails to everyone in the. I received two emails that morning but none stating the pool was closed. The following morning I received a text apologizing for the pool being closed. We booked an upgraded room with a fire pit and patio. Only one love seat for relaxing, we could not invite our friends to enjoy it with us. These rooms are TINY with limited storage. A small coat closet, the bottom halves was a shelf over a mini fridge. I have had bigger roooms in New York City where space is at a premium. There is a self in the bathroom about 4"deep and same under the TV. These are open at the back so things roll off to the floor. There is hardly a flat device to sit anything on and no drawers. The was a tissue holder in the bathroom holding exactly two tissues. I understand my review is colored by the "no pool" thing, however they have really cut the service and room size and sacrificed comfort. They service the room daily. The patio is a nice quiet place to sit. You can see horses and hear birds. I left a pair of glasses and the maid found me chatting in the parking lot to return them. Los Alamos is a cute little town with excellent options for dining. Next time we will chose one of the Inns in town, walking distance to restaurants.

It was a wonderful grown-up getaway, our kids stashed with my mom in another country. Relaxing and deeply enjoyable, with great accommodations and lots of wine. One thing to note, for those booking online--there's a shady website that paid Google for higher placement in the search results than the actual hotel website, and if you book through them, they will charge you hundreds of dollars in excess fees. I fell for this stupid trap and was lucky to get my money back before rebooking through the hotel site and permanently switching my search engine to DuckDuckGo. The Inn at Mattei's Tavern is expensive enough to begin with. It's a very nice hotel, but I didn't think the price point was quite justified--maybe we got squeezed because there was a wedding on the property during our stay and we weren't part of the block. The $60 resort fee is also ridiculous. All that said, it was a lovely hotel, and easily the most high-end in the small town of Los Olivos. Mattei's Tavern has a long history, going back to 1886, when it was a popular stagecoach stop. The hotel's aesthetic leans accordingly western--a little horsey, a little ranchy, with cowboy hats for sale in the lobby shop. It is also, though, a modern California luxury hotel, expensively renovated in the not-too-distant past. The staff was friendly and helpful, both over the phone and in person. We were eligible for an upgrade if available because of a random Mercedes Benz partnership (I drive a Mercedes), but I guess there wasn't one, likely because of the wedding. The Mercedes promotion was good for a $100 food and beverage credit, which we redeemed at the Tavern, the hotel's excellent restaurant. We also enjoyed welcome drinks at check-in, made with whiskey, ginger, and lemon, and soft caramels that came with turndown service. We took home a complimentary bottle of Presqu'ile wine, from a vineyard in Santa Maria. This was in addition to the many wines we purchased at local tasting rooms over our brief stay, which a hard-working bellman helped us schlep out of our room. We got a patio king studio, and it was clean, comfortable, roomy, and attractive. There was a small living area that wasn't especially useful. The fireplace was cool, and I liked that it could be used inside the room or on the patio. There was a pool, which maybe started to justify the resort fee, and we visited our first morning to relax before heading out to drink wine. The vibe was pleasant, a lot of adults chilling quietly with books. If you travel fancy and want to visit Los Olivos, The Inn at Mattei's Tavern is the place to stay. We had a wonderful time in this cute, walkable, wine-soaked town, and hope to come back again soon.

The property itself is stunning, luxurious but warm, with a relaxed wine-country feel that makes it easy to settle in whether you're there for work or leisure. The rooms are beautifully done with a modern farmhouse style: tasteful décor, high-end fixtures, and really solid furniture that feels both comfortable and thoughtfully chosen. Everything was clean, well maintained, and felt upscale without being over the top. It was the kind of room you actually look forward to coming back to after a long day. Food was another highlight. Every meal was consistently great well prepared, flavorful, and clearly made with quality ingredients. It made the whole retreat experience feel elevated without being formal or stiff. The staff deserves special mention. Everyone I interacted with was incredibly kind, professional, and attentive. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and created a very welcoming atmosphere throughout the stay. And a fun bonus: they had four Mercedes vehicles available for use. I ended up driving all four during my stay, which definitely added to the overall experience and convenience. Overall, The Tavern at Los Olivos delivered on every level comfort, style, service, and location. Whether you're planning a work retreat, a weekend getaway, or just want a luxurious place to stay in wine country, this place is absolutely worth it. Would happily return.
