I am sorry Grant that you fail to understand honesty, integrity and customer service. It does not help your cause. I will address each of your points so we are clear. 1. I selected the material and your employees input the materials and codes into the order. It is a very subtle difference (Light versus white is how each product is described) that an average customer would not have noticed was the complete wrong order that your employees input. 2. I did not collect the material as I live out of state. The tiler did. I could not have known your employees placed the wrong order. 3. Your employees came back to pick up the material after multiple demands. Thankfully you were out of town. My guess is that if you had been in town you would not have allowed it. 4. Lastly, my tiler is an amazing guy. I have always paid him for his work and you can confirm when you reach out to him for your own estimates. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I really enjoyed working with him and have continued to hire him for additional work. He does absolutely timely and fantastic work. Our pool contractor, Dream Pools, sent us to this store. What a treasure!! Talk about exceptional customer service!!! The staff person who is helping us is Lauren. She is such a delight! A pool project can be so overwhelming. It is quite an investment and you want to make sure you pick the right materials. We changed directions a couple of times and each time Lauren was so kind, patient, and helpful! She is even driving all the way to Clairemont (by Pasadena) to pick up our samples that were delayed and bring them back to Encinitas! We are so blown away by this level of customer service! Love, love this store! I went to this store after a friend highly recommended. She was right: the choices are awesome, the people are nice, patient, and knowledgeable, and the prices are very good. I walked into the store with samples of my kitchen countertops and cabinets. I was greeted right away by a friendly staff person. Explained what I was looking for. Browsed a bit, learned about material choices, played with samples of my countertop and cabinet. She recommended waiting for these to be installed, then coming back, narrowing it down, taking samples to see how they looked. Excellent advice! That's exactly what I did. I worked with Carla. She was the best. She has a great eye, and she really vlistens! I took samples home. Made a decision, ordered the tile. My installer got some of the tile up, but I stopped him because I felt it was a little too busy for me. It was beautiful-- still is!-- but ultimately I wanted a more minimal look. I think you can tell a lot about a place when there's an issue. Carla was great-- didn't argue, didn't make me wrong, was completely understanding! Said oh no, well, not a problem, we'll take back what you didn't use. Was a very reasonable re-stocking fee, she waived return shipping charge. I'm perfectly happy with how things got resolved. I had a great experience working with them. They were very friendly and accommodating; especially with me booking several appointments. The tile came on time, I was promptly notified. It was easy to reach them. My contractor over estimated how much tile I needed and the girl I spoke with was sooo helpful- reaching out to the vendor to see if they would be coming by anytime soon so I could avoid the freight costs to return it. After a tile broke in my guest bathroom during a plumbing upgrade and I had no spares, I was faced with an unexpected bathroom remodel. (There was cracked tile throughout, due to improper installation, so nothing else really made sense.) I found my way to San Diego Marble and Tile's Encinitas store and was impressed with the selection and personal service from my salesperson, Carla. Just to shop around, I also went to another store that is highly regarded in town but ended up walking out--the service was offhanded at best and the selection didn't appear to be as good as San Diego Marble and Tile's. So back I went and placed my order. It took a couple of weeks to get the tile in hand, and my only gripe, albeit a small one, is that they didn't call when it was in--I had to call them. But when the original size floor tile I wanted wasn't going to be available for a month, they called immediately and gave me options so I could meet my schedule. I've made sure my tile guy knows how much I liked dealing with San Diego Marble and Tile. I'll go straight there if I need tile again in the future. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I have never written a "bad" yelp review even after getting food poisoning, hotel rooms that were unkempt, terrible customer service and other really negative experiences. My wife and I are small business owners and we understand how hard it is to run your own business and we also understand that businesses have bad days or employees that aren't perfect. On to the review- We selected a tile and when it came in my wife drove down to pick it up at the store. After unloading 350 lbs of tile from the car into the kitchen she realized that they had sent her home with the wrong tile. We called the store and returned the tile and also called the tile setters to cancel their installation in the morning. It was very unprofessional to not even check the tile to see if it was the same one that was ordered. This was not a huge deal for us as mistakes happen but If it were my business, I would have apologized and maybe knocked off a bit off the bill. We waited another week for the correct tile to arrive while our kitchen was stripped to the sheet rock. We went down with our 2 small children to pick up the new tile and parked next to a big dumpster where the signs indicated to park for pick up. We received the tile and when we drove off there was a noise of flat tire. I got out of the car and saw black plastic strapping with commercial staples stuck in it. I took pictures of tire and called the business immediately to notify them of the dangerous nails in the parking lot. We were told to email the warehouse manager about the incident. We were never contacted. My wife's car is a Mini Cooper and has "run flat" tires and so she had to make an appointment in Escondido to purchase this unique tire the next day. The cost was $300 and took 3 hours out of her day. I went into the store to speak to someone about the incident. I was happy to hear that the owner was on premise and that I could tell him of what had occurred without getting the run around. I met Grant, the owner of San Diego Marble and Tile and let him know that we had a terrible experience. I recounted getting sent home with the wrong tile and also showed him where we parked and showed him the type of strapping that caused the puncture in the tire. We walked over to the dumpster which is a few feet from the parking space and there was the exact same material with staples and strapping overflowing out of the same dumpster!!! He said that there was nothing he would do about it. Simply unfathomable to not to be accountable. Most business owners would chalk up these 2 instances as learning and training experiences for their staff to pay attention to details and the safety of the parking lot and still end the transaction as a net profit. We spent roughly 5 hours of our time along with an extra $300 because of their mistakes. There many other stores in the Miramar area or even locally that can offer much better customer service and will not leave you hanging out to dry if there are issues with your order. read more

I went by to get a TEC grout chart (from the tile supply side on the left, not the showroom) and stuck my nose inside the showroom door for a quick look at the very large tiles they have by the door. Since i was there for only 90 seconds, and went right back out I was really annoyed to hear one of the women from the counter calling after me "Seeeee Yaaaa" They don't know me from Adam and this is plain rude and offensive.
