Came here for a weekend lunch on the Saturday before Father's Day weekend. Samurai is the place to go to for teppanyaki. For parking the only option is valet. The wait upon going in was about 15 minutes, which wasn't so bad. It's not that they don't have room here, but rather, the amount of chefs available. We were sat down with others around a grill in one of the back rooms. They had a Father's Day menu that they passed (which they didn't say was a special menu). Someone else in the communal table had same something to the waiter and he came back with the regular menu, which had way more options tbh haha. Wish I knew that before I ordered haha. I had gone for the filet mignon entree, which also came with soup, hibachi rice (which I upgraded to fried rice for a fee), and vegetables. After the table ordered, the chef came over and started cooking for everybody. (Oh and the waiter comes over with some sauces- give them a try and see if you want more!) A chance for meal and a show, right at your table. It's kinda cool to see and even better when you realize the food is coming for you haha. Their soup was a bit salty, but otherwise fine for the course. Their fried rice was perfect on the sauce and the taste, but the chicken was just a smidgen dry. The upgrade is probably worth it, to have fried rice haha. For the filet mignon, done medium is my usual but it's chopped up into small pieces; portion sizes look kinda small but at least the flavor is decent. Don't think it was really all too filling, but them come all them veggies haha. They have a good amount of grilled onions coming at you (after the flame show). Samurai has a good show from the chef and it's kinda cool if you've never done this before. I have been coming to Samurai for well over 15 years and each time it does not fail to disappoint. I try to to go a couple of times a year especially on my birthday month as they send a birthday certificate if you are part of the Chefs Table. Their Hibachi table side cooking show is always fun and entertaining thanks to every Chef we have ever had. Now let's talk about the food, anything you try you are likely going to like, from the salad to the soup to the protein of your choice but especially their fried rice which is a must try, and don't forget about the yum yum sauce! I usually order the Passionfruit lemonade, it's a great alternative to having a cocktail. For dessert you may want to try the green tea ice cream, I know it might sound odd but it's really good! I would say next time I think I would just get steak instead of all 3! It was my favorite. I wasn't crazy about the soup but it was a favorite amongst my party. Also, I wouldn't recommend their gin & cucumber cocktail. It was tooo sweet and had an artificial cucumber flavor. I don't even think I finished it. I have been coming to Samurai for about 7 years and it hasn't disappointed not once to be honest that's why I can't understand how it isn't at least 4 stars or more. My rating is 4.5 stars I'm not giving it 5 only because parking is a hassle 75% of the time and they should have better ventilation. When it gets packed and all the hibachi tables are cooking it gets a bit smoky at least for me. I always enjoy the chef show and so does everyone I have ever brought to the establishment. Service is always good only thing is sometimes there is a long wait to enter but I always grab drinks from the bar and talk to friends while we wait to be seated. It is located in a stand alone building and has it's own parking lot. It was easy to find parking. When I walked in I got treated by the hostess and had to wait only about 10 mins for a table. When we sat our waitress came and got our orders and brought out our drinks. On this occasion I opted for some water and we were happily waiting for out chef. The tables are habachi style meaning that you sit with other people. It was a table that fit 8 people. I was seated on the side which at first was not an issue but as the night went on it was the isle where all the chefs go to the table. It was a little bit annoying to have to tuck in my chair every single time that someone wanted to pass by. The experience started with onion soup and ginger salad. The soup was perfectly warm and it was nice because I was a little cold. The dressing on the salad was delicious. When we were done with our salad the chef got there. He started by pouring the sauces, and then he started with the sautéed veggies. I ordered the chicken and the shrimp which is my favorite. I also got it with the veggie fried rice which is the whole reason I wanted to come here. Now it came with the classic tricks, the train, the heart, the tossing of the tails. Though the volume of my reviews seem to indicate otherwise, I actually love (Americanized) Asian cuisine. However, with my seafood allergies I have to be cautious and minimize exposure. So when my friend picked out Samurai to catch up for dinner, this was one of the first things I pointed out to anyone involved in food prep. Though we were originally told we had to wait about a half hour, we were actually seated much quicker. Our orders were taken, and we had a little bit of wait before our superstar chef came to our table of 6 for true dinner theater. We first got our soups and salads; mine was a nicely warm onion broth and I loved the mixed greens salads with a spicy ginger dressing. Our culinary show began with the chef preparing the vegetable appetizers - zucchini, onions and mushrooms - complete with a fire show on the tabletop grill. The veggies seemed a little overdone but no major complaints. Next came the white rice, eggs and chicken to make their delicious chicken fried rice. Add a little soy sauce and garlic butter and oh man..Hijō ni oishī (very delicious!) My teriyaki chicken also had a deliciously sweet sauce. My friend and I shared their banana tempura dessert with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and slightly sweet breading. I even asked the manager to help and he told me a bizarre story about how even though the website quoted me 40 min, it's actually an hour to an hour and a half over that because of how busy the restaurant is. The disappointment i have for Samurai is very saddening. I wish I could put more stars but the terrible experience I had needs to be written about. I have been coming to this restaurant for as long as I can remember and the service has always been excellent, the portions consistent and the experience top notch. For the past few years I feel they just have not held up to that superior standard. I came yesterday for a celebratory lunch with my business partner for a great lunch experience. And this was not what we got. We were seated quickly and that might have been the only thing that went right here. We were greeted by our server for some drinks that took a while to receive. Once we finally got our appetizers (soup or salad) he forgot to hand everyone out their forks so we had to reach over and do it ourselves. When the cook was serving us the order was wrong and there wasn't enough rice. So I got half of a bowl and my guest didn't get any. The cook had to go to the back and grab rice from there. I asked the cook to get me some more and he said no and laughed it off. I was serious and wanted more rice. It's not our fault the order was written wrong. The customer wants more food, make the customer happy. So I had to wait for the server to finally make his way back after asking for him twice. I told him I needed more rice and wanted to order some rolls to go. 35min later he showed up with the rolls and rice that was all packed in a bag. My meat was already cold at this point, and I specified I wanted my rice now to eat with my meat. He disregarded anything I had to say. The rolls we ordered were the shrimp tempura. I should've checked before we left but it was when I got home that I realized these rolls were not SHRIMP TEMPURA. It was a sloppy excuse for a roll. I ended up having to pay extra for my chicken fried rice that I didn't get a full serving from the beginning. And I paid for rolls I wanted and didn't get what I paid for. I am so sad this is what Samurai has come to. I used to love this place. And now I can't even bring myself to look at the establishment. This review is long overdue. My daughter and I went on the evening of 9/18/22 to Samurai at the Falls and got there around 6:00 pm. We were told it would take about 45 minutes; the place was packed inside and out and among the people waiting were several large groups and very few small groups like ours. Around 6:45 pm I asked a tall, young man with glasses at the front how much longer would I have to wait, and he said that I had six tables ahead of me. I didn't know what it meant, and he said about 30 minutes more. I was beginning to feel frustrated. I noticed that most of the large groups, many of them coming after we were there, were already inside. Since the restaurant doesn't take reservations, we assumed that it was first come, first served basis, but it was a mistake. I went inside again to ask about the seating procedure and another frustrated customer was talking to an Asian-looking woman behind the desk who would not answer his questions. He too had a small party, like us, and had been waiting for over an hour to be seated. I also noticed that the staff had all our names on yellow Post-it sticky notes in three columns with handwritten numbers scratched several times. I asked once again how much longer I had to wait, and the woman would not answer me or to the other customer next to me. I finally said to the complaining customer "I agree with everything you are saying". He was pointing at a group already seated that came about half an hour after us. That was when I realized about all the changes in the numbers on the slips. They kept changing our "turn" several times to accommodate larger groups. Therefore, all parties of 3 or fewer did not have a fighting chance. Since they do not take reservations, they need to develop a fair system for small parties. Their system was to move us around in favor of the others who came later. They could have easily taken three parties of two and filled a table; instead, they were serving larger groups first. Worse of all was the customer service people at the host desk. The tall man with glasses who was taking names down kept ignoring questions like "May I speak to the manager please?" And his sidekick, a young man with long hair, was not even engaging in anything. The woman who was moving sticky notes would not look you in the eye and kept sticking the notes on her fingers, talking to someone else but the customers. What a nightmare!!! We were finally sat at 8:15 pm and still had to wait for our chef even more because the chef at the next table had not finished yet. I guess two chefs cannot cook together, back-to-back, or was it a punishment for trying to speak out? Besides all that, at least the food was delicious! read more

The Samurai Onion Soup is beyond delicious. I ordered a Tuna Tataki and some sake to keep me hydrated while I consumed a seaweed salad. Samurai has much more than just fancy rice and habachi shows-they have some solid Japanese items if you know how to scour their menu appropriately. My SO went with the Chateaubriande with I sampled and found divine. Every item from the soup down to the entrees were prepared perfectly and served with great service. They have amazing lunch specials worth checking out. A mix of "cold and hot" keeps this place as a top contender in the area for Japanese food served with a twist perfect for the whole family. Arrived at 6:59 pm Parking is a nightmare. We were told there would be a wait of 45 minutes to an hour. The three girls that work the front desk have no sympathy whatsoever and are actually quite rude. The restaurant is outdated and has not changed since I was last here 15+ years ago. Samurai used to be so much more. Although the food is still good, we waited two hours to be served (seated at the table!) The space was completely tight and cramped so badly that not even my tiny 3 ft niece could fit through my chair and the person behind me. The waitress was nice but not all there. She got half our orders wrong, was very confused, and kept telling us what we wanted wasn't available. The chef came out to cook and although funny, you could tell he was just there to get paid and was not genuine. He even talked poorly about the waitress which wasn't great. We had a cake for a birthday and by the time it came to us it was melted (and no this was a regular cake not an ice cream cake). Ah, Samurai.. just saying the name of this restaurant makes your mouth water. Serving up the best hibachi in South Florida, it's no wonder the line is literally always out the door. My family and friends swear by the food served at Samurai. If you're willing to wait, definitely have a seat with your friends and family at the hibachi table. The chefs are highly entertaining and the food preparation is pretty consistent; you're sure to enjoy the experience. If you're in a rush or on your lunch break, you can order the same food without the long wait time if you have a seat in the bar area or at the bar. The plus side to sitting at the bar is you're getting the exact same food quality and you don't walk out smelling like food (fave). I usually order the Splash & Meadow (steak and shrimp) or Samurai Delight (chicken and shrimp), with fried rice. I've tried everything on the menu at least once and I can guarantee you that it's all delicious. You'll be satisfied no matter what you get. The food is served Teppanyaki style, which is communal - so if your party is small (like 2-3 people) you'll be joined with another group. Luckily my family is huge, so we always get a table to ourselves. Even though, I've had some great experiences and met some pretty cool people when my friends and I are grouped with others too. The drinks are also amazing - gotta have a Baby Blue Ocean, which is the normal sized drink for their Blue Ocean Fish Bowl. This drink is YOOGE, and will get you super lit if you're not sharing it with someone else. It's not my favorite drink, but it's part of the whole experience. Their house sake is amazing too so def get a Sake Bomb (or two.. or three..). There really isn't anything bad that I could say about Samurai other than they should start accepting reservations. I understand not being able to sit before your whole party arrives, but sometimes the whole gang gets impatient and half the time they don't want to wait and end up leaving. Also, the complimentary valet is a nice thought but it totally sucks. The parking lot is nowhere near big enough for that kind of service and people are perfectly capable of parking their own cars. Loved this hibachi spot in deep Kendall. I have to say, it is better than Benihanas. I got hibachi with shrimp and chicken and if you like flavor in your life, make it spicy. It changes the meal from night to day. Hibachi dinner comes with soup, salad and main course. Chefs were fun to watch as they cooked. Con, ventilation was poor and smoke filled our table.
