Over IT!! I did not enjoy my experience here at all. Granted it was Mother's Day when I was there but still it was extremely ridiculous . Upon arriving on time for our 6:30 pm reservation we had to wait another 45 mins to actually get a table. ( oh okay patience was with us it was a busy day) so while waiting went stood at the bar and although we were there first the bartender decided to serve other guest first. We noticed and kept it moving ., our name finally got called for a table and headed upstairs . They sat us down on the first table upon entering and a big blow fan was aimed right at our table. After another 45-55 min wait while at the table the chef came. We are starving by now. Then he wants to do the whole bit of the erupting volcano and etc and we are looking at him like sir - please just cook the food it's almost 9:30. I asked for a coke to try to fill my belly and it was flat. At this point I was ready to go. Long story short we got all our food by a lil after 10:00pm and it was all cold because of the blown fan. We came here on a Sunday night to celebrate a friend moving away and her birthday, and holy hot hell do I wish I had read the reviews first. 8 out of 10 of the most recent ones are all 1 or 2 stars. Take my review as a warning and nope out before you make the same mistake. Reservations were well in advanced for 7:30pm, and my friend called to specify the max for a table and were told 10 people, which meant limiting the invite, which was unfortunate. Most of our group arrived 15 minutes early. They were shown a table for 8 people and they said, don't worry, they can add two more chairs. We were told there was a table for 13 people upstairs that would be ready in half an hour, so we decided to wait. Half an hour came and went and the table still wasn't ready so we were seated at the clown car of a table. Some of our group is definitely on the curvier side, but this table had NO business being for 10 people of any size ever. It was elbow to elbow with people being on corners. Absolutely ridiculous. Turns out the people at the big table had only been sat a little earlier than us, and had made reservations the same day. I don't know why they didn't offer us that table with our reservation being made further out. Or even mentioned that they could accommodate a larger group. We ended up getting moved to two tables upstairs, which kind of defeats the purpose of going out to eat with a group of friends. Also having known that was going to be the situation, we would have invited more people to celebrate with us. Instead we were on two partially empty tables. Our server was messy and rushed, and our chef didn't show up til almost 9pm. We were all starving. Cocktails came. My husband's Old Fashioned was awful. I think the bartender didn't put the sugar cube in or use any demerara syrup, because it just tasted like straight whiskey with a little bit of cherry. No beautiful big ball of ice...just a bunch of cubes. The Mai Tai in the special cup was basically two sips and saccharine sweet. One of the tables ordered calamari and it looked like an overfried dried out nightmare and barely got eaten. First course out was cold soup. That got sent back by most of the group. Salad was good, but it's literally just iceberg lettuce and two cherry tomatoes, so I'm not exactly celebrating that mediocrity. The table I was on got the better straw when it came to the chef's. He was fast and attentive, and threw out the same, albeit, tired party tricks the franchise is known for. My friends at the other table noted the chef seemed very new and was way too casual with the group and made mistakes regarding allergies, which is really bad. She also came out 15 minutes before our chef and finished cooking about 10 minutes after us. I believe that may have been because of an allergy situation though. The main course itself was delicious. No faults there. Everything was cooked to perfection. I personally would have preferred waaaay less butter, but for one night, it's ok. Also, idk what they've done to the "Yum Yum" sauce, but it is not in fact "Yum Yum" and instead "Meh, OK." That shit used to be like liquid crack. It seemed a bit watered down and thin compared to what I remember. We didn't see our server much throughout our meal which meant no chance for refills. At the end when he finally did show up he was rushing us with the check. He didn't offer dessert or green tea and we had to ask for my husband's ice cream that comes with his entree. He said there's no desserts on the menu when we asked what other options there were, yet their site lists a banana tempura, amongst other things. I really want to give one star, but, personally I did enjoy my main and I think our chef did a good job. The restaurant though? TRASH. The prices? INSANE for the quality of what you're getting! It was always a fairly pricey night out, but now it's downright ludicrous. And also, almost everything I touched felt sticky. The bathroom walls...doors... the handle for the stair case. So damn gross. That whole place needs to be sprayed down with degreaser. Also, I'm sure there's gonna be a reply from whoever runs their Yelp asking me to reach out thru their website. The last time I came here it was a great and wonderful experience. I decided to come back after 10 years for my daughter's birthday, what a terrible experience. From still having to wait a half hour, even though I had reservation.Even to received my bill it was a wait. The chefs just cook at the hibachi table. They no longer entertain like they used to. Everything is minimal. I waited to be seated, waited for a waiter,waited for the drinks, waited for the appetizers, Waited for a chef to show up to out table and then waited about a half hour just for the bill. Waited so long for everything that my reservation was for 7PM and our bill didn't come till about 10:45 PM. No exaggeration in my review !Definitely will not come back again, or recommend this place. I've been to this location wich is on my neighborhood for many years. After probably a year since my last visit I had experienced the worse The worst dining experience I have ever had at a Miami restaurant -- and unfortunately, it happened during my daughter's16th birthday celebration with seven members of our family. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated around 7:10 PM, which was completely reasonable. Sadly, that was the only part of the evening that met expectations. From that point forward, the entire experience became a complete disaster. Our server genuinely tried her best and remained professional throughout the night, but it was painfully obvious that the restaurant was severely understaffed and extremely poorly managed. After repeatedly asking about the delay, we ended up waiting nearly 1 hour and 45 minutes just for a chef to arrive at our table and begin cooking. For a restaurant built around the hibachi experience, this level of delay is simply unacceptable. To make matters even worse, the chef assigned to our table appeared shockingly inexperienced. The performance lacked energy, professionalism, and basic culinary execution. Several dishes were poorly cooked, and the overall experience felt amateur and disorganized from beginning to end. The condition of the restaurant itself was equally disappointing. The bathrooms were unpleasant, poorly maintained, and clearly neglected. Fixtures looked worn out and uncared for, which only reinforced the feeling that management has completely lost control of this location. The fried rice was hard and tasted like it had been sitting out, and overall the food just didn't match what we paid. The food at Benihana is always consistent. Everything is so flavorful and always fresh. On this occasion, the only issue was the the timing. We arrived and 7 and weren't out of there until 9:30! This review is based on a sit down dinner and not a Hibachi experience. We wanted to stop in to Benihana and just have a quick meal without the theatrics. We got sat quickly as it was a Monday night and food came quickly out upon ordering. Menu is kind of all or nothing as most of the options are grouped together outside of sushi options. We were told we could order separately but that would be a lot more. So we just settled for the combos. This was not our first time at Benihana but our first time not getting Hibachi and it seemed like we got a lot more food. Seemed like a larger portion of rice and meat. Overall the food was good for Benihana standards. The yum yum sauce is always a must and the ginger dresssing on the salad is always addictive. Very sad to see the my very favorite food chain deteriorate so much over the years . From the food , the drinks, the service , and even their locations everything just keeps getting worse every time I visit. I've been coming to this location for more than 15 years and I wish could do something positive but I can't . The food quality has dropped. They've taken away food items that were regularly part of hibachi meals . Something as simple as a soup will get sent out cold instead of hot . Your griddles are falling apart . The vents on top of them leak oil from not cleaning them properly . The tables and chairs and falling apart . Don't even get me started on your rugs that are full of grease on every pathway of the restaurant. The service here is awful. The waiters and even management drown when they get a little Busy. Oh, Benihana... how far you've fallen. Just like the other Miami location, this one survives on lies. After a terrible experience at the first Benihana, I did another dumb thing and doubled down on another location. Except this time, they had better reviews AND I called ahead. Was told they "don't quote wait times" but had reservations available. Red flags were ignored. When I get there there's an hour minimum wait. What the flying eff is that kind of explanation?!?! Later I found out it's actual company policy never to turn away customers. What kind of corporate BS is that? You treat people with respect and give them the truth. Then in the future someday they return to Benihana again. A total lack of basic decency that is embedded in the culture st these Benihana franchises. The worst experience we've ever had!!! We had reservations at 8 didn't sit down until 10pm. The chef took another hour to come to the table. He was new so they forced him out there because they were busy and he messed up all our portions. Some of us didn't even get any chicken that we payed for. They had one bartender working (also new) . 3 drinks took another hour to get to the table. The bathrooms were disgusting. We were given forks with no knives. The waters came with no ice and hot!! Everything was a mess nothing went well. They didn't have enough workers working. MANAGEMENT needs to be FIRED or the owners, whoever is responsible. Never going back there again and I've gone to different Benihana's over the years. THIS ONE IS HORRIBLE!!!! It's No wonder they have 3 star rating. Ruined my birthday completely. My husband & I were extremely excited to go to Benihana for the first time and we had a bad experience, they judge you based on your looks. As soon as we walked the host welcomed us, we asked to be outside. We waited for 20 mins for anyone to pass by our table. As someone that has worked as a server myself for many years, I completely understand that restaurants gets busy but the restaurant was empty, probably 1 or 2 tables. We waited patiently, till I had to walk inside myself and asked if we could be served. Manager looked at me with a face and so did other server, no one hesitated to server us. 2 minutes back in our table and a poor girl which wasn't even a server was sent to us. First time finally tasting Benihana and the famous garlic butter! Although, a bit pricey, the food did not disappoint and the service made the experience worth it. Our waitress was patient, helpful and informative with helping us navigate the menu. The space was really big in comparison to similar to other hibachi establishments, this had a very upscale vibe to it, which surprised me.
