This establishment is a shit show. On a scale from 1-5, it's a negative 10. For starters there wasn't any parking, so we ended parking in the TJ Maxx parking lot. The wait was 1hour and a half. The chef's intentionally skipped over our tables to serve other patrons who had not been there as long as us. The food wasn't good. It was seasoning deprived. We had a party of 22 guests. I give it 3 stars only because I enjoyed the food, but unfortunately, I can not give it 5 stars because of their parking system that ruins the vibe of the restaurant. I am not fond of valet parking because of past experiences on different occasions with dents in my car, scratches and even my sunpass stolen at one point. Since then, I just don't like valet unless the parking is really far from the place. But at the Samurai, parking can be hectic but they're really close to the restaurant. I find an available parking myself and I park, why not allow it? Instead, a valet attendant came running to me yelling at me saying that I am not allowed to park myself and that my car will be blocked so that I can't get out. I asked, if my car is blocked, why can't I just tell an attendant so that the car is moved and I can get out? Her answer was NO, this is strictly valet, no one is allowed to park their own car. Her attitude was rude and unacceptable. I don't think I will be returning as long as they have this parking policy. read more

And it was an over all great experience. have in mind today is Sunday was extremely packed and the wait was of one hour. But it was actually less. Great place to celebrate a birthday or just to dine in! I do recommend getting there early because the wait can be ridiculous. They also have lunch specials before 3pm I believe. The food selection is great, they have from sushi to steak. I usually order Samurai treat (brings fried rice , filet mignon, and shrimp) so delicious!!! However, I recently went and was extremely disgusted to see the women's bathroom. There was water everywhere on the floor and the toilets were FULL of paper. 2 hours waiting to eat our food on a moderate Tuesday night. That is including when we waited and then the time it took for the chef to come to our table. The food is great, but majority of the time it makes you question with the amount of wait they put you through. On weekends the wait can be around 2 hours long before seated. It's great to come for a birthday celebration or something but be aware 1. They don't accept reservations. 2. They get slammed during the weekend. Best thing is for 1 person to go much ahead and put the name on the list. It's pricey but the food and chefs leave you satisfied with the heavy appetite you arrive with. Wow! What can I say, we love the food here! Parking is easy as the have free valet. You have to park your car valet. This location has a small lot and they won't let you park in the lot without valet. The bar is nice and spacious it's a great place to hang out while you wait for your table. You will always wait for a table. We were a party of nine arrived at 3 and we still had to wait 45 minutes for our table. However that's a good sign that means the food is good. They have a TV in the bar which is nice it's always on a game, we were able to watch part of the Kansas City versus Titans wild card game. You can order appetizers or even a meal at the bar if you don't feel like waiting. We got the shrimp lovers rolls and the crunchy shrimp rolls, and the tempura vegetables. All three were very good, they range from $7 dollars to $10. The house drinks are very good and tasty. We ordered margaritas and a Kirin light beer, which was freezing cold! After a 45-minute wait we were seated at our table. If you've never been,byour meal is cooked at the table. The chefs put on quite a show. The food was excellent. Hot and fresh made right in front of you. Our Chef did the heartbeat with a fried rice and the volcano with the onions you'll be able to see the pictures, as well as playing with the knife fork and spatula! Each dish range from about $17 to $25 dependent upon what you order. We order colossal shrimp, chicken and steak, and steak and shrimp, with fried rice, and an order of steamed brown rice. In the old days they used to make the fried rice with the brown as well. They no longer do that. All the meals come with an onion soup, salad with ginger dressing, onions and vegetables (Onions, cucumbers, mushrooms). Not bad at all for the price. I meant to write a review a couple of weeks ago, but what can I tell ya, I've been busy lol Anyway, this place is ALWAYS packed no matter what day, time, etc. This was literally the first time that we walked in and there was no wait. We got seated immediately (shocking)! It was a Tuesday around 2 pm just to give you an idea of the best time to go, otherwise expect to wait about an hour just to sit and another just to eat. (Well worth it though) Honestly, there is nothing that I could complain about here. I always have awesome service, entertainment, and food! I do recommend dining here during lunch as then you have the ability to choose from the lunch menu, which is significantly cheaper for the same portion you get at dinner. I ordered the filet mignon hibachi and my girlfriend ordered the chicken, both of us got the spicy chicken fried rice, which is seriously so good. She used to order the regular chicken fried rice, but once she tried mine, she hasn't switched back! Anyway, this is hands down the best hibachi place to go to. Nothing beats it. Samurai is still Samurai....they still have that epic pink sauce (I always ask for double) and that fresh garlic sauce to accommodate your meal. You still sit with strangers (unless your party fills a complete table) and your meal is always a show. With the volcano onions and the heart beating fried rice it's always a celebration! One thing that has changed is there is no more lunch special pricing from Friday to Sunday and the fabulous mushrooms are served last instead of as a starter. It's all good though cause there all going to my belly regardless. My favorite is still the chicken that comes with shrimp and it's always flavorful never dry. The fried rice isn't to greasy and the grilled veggies still have a nice crunch. The miso soup for starters will always be a favorite and the service is always fast and efficient. Their very organized with the ordering up to the check and they still ask if your coming in celebration for anything specific. I had dinner with my family here last night. We were a party of 7. I'm the only one with food allergies and I was really nervous eating at a place where I figured that everything would be cross-contaminated with allergens. I mentioned my allergies to the waitress and we waited for the chef. The chef cooked all the vegetables, chicken, rice, and beef first and gave me my meal. He did this in. Way that everyone still got food so nobody was waiting on me. He then cooked all the fish and shellfish last. Although my aunt complained about this (some people have zero empathy for others), I really appreciated this and let the chef and waitress know that I was super grateful for how accommodating they were. I didn't give five stars because of the excessive wait time, however. Our full party of 7 arrived at 7:00PM and put in our name. It wasn't until 7:50 that we were seated and not until 8:40 that the chef arrived. It was well worth the wait, but I was super exhausted by the end of the night. read more

My first review of the year at a place I have gone to for over 30 years. Lots of good memories here and not so good when Hurricane Andrew shut them down. But it came back better than ever in the looks department. Since those days Bennihanna owns her it isn' t as dirty as the Bennihanna in Ft. Lauderdale but it is run very corporate. Meaning our poor chef was not Japanese and his entertainment quality was lacking in fact I went to the ladies room and he already cooked and left. Between that and the non existent waitress who takes away your drink when you aren't finished or never refills your water glass either. So let's start at the beginning we arrive very early for dinner on NYE 5:30 PM. The parking is valet only complimentary. Once inside they said it was a 15 minute wait we barely ordered drinks at the bar and our beeper thing lite up. Once lead inside we sat with another family. The waitress took drink orders but we were already set. The chef came out and took orders and very quickly started cooking. The special sauce that only they carry was good. We put it on the special friend rice and shrimp. Something was off about the shrimp it lacked flavor even with the sauce. The steak was surprisingly tender as I ordered Splash and Meadow which was strip steak not Filet Mignon which is what hubby ordered. So our chef obviously was rushed by management and before we even had our checks or even asked if we wanted desserts he was out cooking at another table. The other people at our table also thought it was odd, that we were left for dead. Finally the waitress shows up, you want green tea she says. By this point everyone just took their checks. Very deflating way to end a party don't you think. You could say it was because it was NYE but it was way too early for that or this place just lost it's luster after all these years thus one less star. read more

So many people told me great things about this place but I was disappointed. We went at noon, was not busy at all and The service was terrible starting from the hostess, we sat in the lounge and nobody will come to serve us. I got up and got us menus and my husband had to ask if some one could help us. Finally the server came to take our order, and she is in the wrong business... her attitude was not welcoming nor friendly. When the food came and had to ask for the sauce, she only brought one! Everyone told me the best thing about samurai was the sauces, but at this point I was already over it, so I didn't asked for the other sauces. Last night we came to Samurai for my boyfriends birthday with his family (just like we do every year) As usual, the food and service were great ! Felt the need to write this review to point out that our chef Mario did a GREAT job!! We come here very often, Mario really stood out ! He was charismatic, had a great attitude, and his tricks on the grill were outstanding! Out of all the birthdays we've spent here, this one was by far the best. This place is a joke. We've been waiting for over an hour and they told us our table would be ready in an hour and they continue to make us wait. We just witness the hostess let someone walk right in after waiting 10 mins for the same amount of people in our group. We saw the ticket and it said VIP but they don't accept reservations. If I had never even gone before to Samurai, this would be a five-star review: the food is very good, the service is great, you get what you're looking for, and then some more... Unfortunately I have come before, and on a date where there was virtually no-one else, so there was virtually no wait time, we had both the server and the chef all by ourselves, the place was quiet and everything was perfect. Now, I'm not going to be unfair here, if I could give it a 9.5/10, I would, but the grading system here is based on 5 stars, and I can't give it to them because the meat was a bit dry (no, not overcooked, just not juicy enough). Now I will describe how the regular night is different from the holiday night, but in no way this detracts from the experience if you know what to expect. First of all, while in Dec 24 there was a complimentary valet parking, tonight there wasn't... and I can tell you, finding a parking spot here is difficult, but is a piece of cake compared to trying to get your car out when other customers decide they can just drop their cars anywhere (like, behind your car, at a less-than-prudential distance) if they didn't find a real spot. Once in, there was a wait time of about an hour. I was a pretty quick hour overall, I went with good company, and I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure we even got a table before the hour was up. Obviously, a packed place is a lot noisier than an empty place. It's not something that will deter from the experience, but since the last time I went was so quiet that I noticed the difference, I thought it may be useful to note it here. The onion soup was even better this time: the last time it was basically a broth, this time they brought to the table a separate recipient with crispy onions to put in the soup, and the taste was as good -or even better- than when I went before. Salad: as good as before. Shrimp appetizer and mushrooms and onion and stuff, and the chicken rice and the chef's show: all of them as good as before. Main entree: here's where the points come off: this time I ordered the Beef and chicken entrée... I think it was the Rocky... something. The chicken was soooo gooooooood... but I'm more of a beef guy, and the taste was good, but I felt it a bit dry, and in a place where everything else is so close to perfection, just a tiny bit of "not perfect" makes you feel the difference. Again, if this was my first time here, I wouldn't even mention it, but I already tried here the beef and lobster entree, and that beef was so good I'd probably (sacrilege!) choose it over the lobster (and if you taste that lobster you'll see how good that is). The tea was also as good as last time. And I like the hot sake here, again, it is good. Now, I went with my dear friend and co-worker who had recommended me this place originally. I'm a big guy and she's a petite gal. For me, the whole meal feels like a good sized meal, pretty filling but doesn't leave you unable to move. In contrast, She had to take half of her meal to go. I believe an average-sized person will have probably need to take a bit to go too (less than half for sure), so you can enjoy it twice. Additionally, my friend is in the Chef's Table list, so she had a discount coupon for her birthday, which meant that after the meal they brought a vanilla ice cream with a candle and sang to her, which was a nice detail (in addition to the discount). So, if you are thinking of going there, do it. It is a bit pricey, but as I said on the previous review, it is worth it. There are $1 hot dogs that make me sad for wasting money, while Samurai lets me leave happy. I don't think I mentioned this before, but a Hibachi is not a place to come in, eat and go. Even if you're seated upon entering, the whole meal is an experience from start to finish and it can easily take two hours or more. Come before being hungry and taste what you're eating, watch the chef play and cook and make the onion volcano (I never get tired of the onion volcano). You're sitting with strangers. They usually mind their own business (I've never talked to any of them yet) but something tells me the comunal experience should add something more to the meal. In any case, bring good company and enjoy it. Good company makes everything better. read more
