We were sat at the table to sit and wait 20 min to even be acknowledge which I then went to the front to complain and we were only acknowledged because we called someone over. The other family at the table was so annoyed that they left. We then ordered our food - which the chef was amazing and the food was delicious (the only reason I'm giving 2 stars and not 1). After that our server never came back to refill our drinks - the other server in the room noticed and she came and refilled them. Then when he brought the bill I saw he charged my kids for an adult meal and not a kids meal when I asked why he didn't have an answer and wouldn't change it. Needless to say the service was horrible a manager never came to apologize for the bad service or anything. It was also valet only which is horrible because they don't know what they are doing. After a lot of searching on Yelp and local sites we came across the Samaria restaurant and after a quick phone call they told us "open with one hour wait" and we were on our way. They have valet parking so dealing with small parking lot wasn't an issue, so we cruised onto the bar to pass our one hour wait with awesome drink made by bartender Jeremy and tuna tataki appetizer. But oh well, super worth the wait. FOOD: SOOO GOOD! They start you off with a salad that has this house ginger dressing that is to dye for. And I don't ever even eat salad! That's how good it is! They also bring out a broth with some veggies and mushrooms. Not a huge fan of broth that way but my fiancé loves it, as does everyone else. So definitely try it anyways. The entire meal is cooked right before your eyes. Special order. Just how you like it, even for pickiest eaters. If you like taking food home, here's a little tip: if you opt for the fried rice, your paying the full price of it, not an up charge, yet they only bring you the fried rice. I sat at the bar to order a drink while I waited for my time. unlike other restaurants, this one allows children to sit at the bar, so I had a group of kids on my left and right. once I finally got my table, the server took forever to get to our table. when she finally took out drink orders, she asked if we ever had the alcoholic drinks that we ordered before. when we answered no, she said "ok, we'll they can't be returned." such a weird statement to make to your guest. she was not very welcoming and kind like most servers I had in the past. Been there twice and so far, no problems with both. The first time I went there was on my honey's birthday and we went with his family for dinner. Service was good and food was great -- pretty pricey though (it's expected for dinner). I got both the pink sauce and the ginger sauce. I don't recall exactly what I ordered but I do remember getting filet mignon (aside from the usual rice and veggies, etc). It was pretty tasty and cooked exactly how I wanted it! The second time we went, it was for lunch. I had the lunch combo of scallops and shrimp. Definitely cheaper and still the same hibachi experience (the cook does the same jokes/routine i.e. beating heart act with the fried rice) and the food is basically the same. Although the menu options are lesser, it's still more or less the same... just MUCH cheaper. So if you're on a budget but would like a glimpse of the dinner experience, go for lunch! I actually would give this place a 3.5 stars. Would've been 4 but I'm not a big hibachi fan in general (it's too much food). I think next time I'd just eat half of everything and save the other half. I am very upset by the bad customer service I received at Samurai. I walked in to celebrate a birthday at 9:00pm. Samurai closes at 10:30pm (as per their door sign) and I was told we are no longer taking guests. I was appalled by the fact that the restaurant is open, yet, it is not open and are no signs that the restaurant is closing early or are no longer taking guests. I've been coming to this location for over 10 years. Today was a very disappointing experience so much I just left. It is 3:45pm and me and my wife came to eat and to find out there was a 2.5hr wait. 2.5hr WAIT yes you read that right at 3:45-4pm in the afternoon. I know better than most the wait times here i've waited them all for dinner. But 2+ hours at 4pm? HOW THE ACTUAL FUCK? lady gave me a math problem in the front to explain why which i still have no idea what she was saying. From what I gathered not enough chefs? Not really sure. By far one of my favorite places to eat! (Especially for special events!) I always get the samurai delight. The food is always fresh and delicious- hibachi style. I arrived at 7:40 pm on Thursday night and was told the wait was an hour and a half. Which we expected since it is a very popular restaurant in the area. They sat us down at 9:20 pm and made us wait about an hour for the cook to come. We were seated at in the back room and there was no proper service offered to us. The food at Samurai is always delicious! I usually come during lunch hours to take advantage of their less expensive lunch options. There is normally a long wait to be seated. You can sit at the bar to wait for your table if there is space. If you join their free Samurai rewards program, they will email you a voucher for $30 off your meal during your birthday month. The habachi tables fit about 7 or 8 people so you will be seated with random people (I don't mind that). The service was good. Our waiter was quick to take our drink orders. I tried a baby blue ocean. It was good (if you like fruity). I order the filet mignon lunch special which includes either a soup or salad, fired rice, vegetables and mushrooms (I order an extra side of the mushrooms... That's how good they are). I loved the pink shrimp sauce they serve on the side. I may have poured it over everything! I like that everything is cooked right in front of you and the cook was interacting with us all at the table. The only reason im rating today's experience one star, is because our server Heather was amazing! I brought my mom for lunch and we had the weirdest encounter with the man who runs the valet. As I pulled in, I parked my own car, because about two years ago.. I had my car scratched by a valet driver at this location. As soon as i started backing my car into the space, I could see him coming toward my car. He proceeds to tell me in Spanish that this is a valet only location. I explain to him that im willing to pay for parking, but I don't feel comfortable with anyone driving/parking my car because of what had happened the last time I let valet park my car. He then tells me (in Spanish) "eso es imposible porque yo abrí este valet ase un año aquí y nunca e tenido quejas" to which i responded that my family and I have been coming to this restaurant for the past 15+ years and we have never had an issue with staff. I again tell him I don't mind paying for the parking spot, but im not allowing anyone inside my vehicle, much less to drive/park it.. I couldn't believe what came next. This RUDE and CONDESCENDING man tells me that anybody who wants to park their own car, can park at the mall. You mean to tell me I have to park across the street? I am literally offering to PAY to park my own car and that's your response? I said, well I guess we can go.. when I said we were leaving my mom tried to reason with him to which he responded that he would give us a parking ticket (a ticket we never got).. but I could tell by his demeanor that he was mad he wasn't getting his way. I stepped out of my car and said I was going to speak to the manager (even if this meant that were wouldn't be dining here today.).. when I got to the front the young lady greeted us very politely, as I asked to please speak to a manager... we sat about 1-2 minutes and she came out. When the manager came out, I proceed to tell her what just transpired and her response was that parking was complimentary and that if I park my own car, I'd be responsible for any damage done to my vehicle, that the valet company had an insurance that would cover any damage. I then tell her about what happened to my car two years ago, and she gives me a look as if I'd seriously sit here and make this up (I couldn't believe I was seriously fighting to PAY TO PARK MY OWN CAR!) and starts telling me that they switched valet companies after the pandemic, that I had nothing to worry about. I really should've walked out and taken my business elsewhere, but my mom really wanted to dine here, so we stayed. I'd like to highlight how amazing our server heather and the chef (I believe his name was Alex) were.. but I can't deny that this encounter with the valet guy really ruined our dining experience from the beginning. When we walked out, as I sat in my car he even smirked and waved at me, again zero respect. Samurai is an amazing restaurant and the food is amazing, it's really sad to see the quality of staff ruining it's family-oriented reputation. We will not be returning, and I hope that if this reaches anyone in leadership, that they pull cameras to take a further look into what happened and how we were treated. With all entrees comes 3 Shrimp as an appetizer and usually most hibachi places come with only 2 shrimp. I had the Teriyaki Chicken which includes grilled veggies, mushrooms, and 3 appetizer shrimp. Even though the fried rice is an additional $3.50, it's Chicken Fried Rice! It was totally worth it! The atmosphere was clean and new, considering this restaurant has been in this particular location for years now. They even offer a complimentary picture at the table of you and your party. For birthdays, the birthday person receives a free ice cream sundae. You can also sign up for their special online club where everyone receives an email during their birthday month for $30 off their meal with the purchase of another entrée.
