We recently had our driveway installed with pavers by Samurai Paver Systems, and we couldn't be happier with the results. From the initial consultation to the final installation, the entire team was professional, knowledgeable, and attentive to detail. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and our new driveway has completely transformed the look of our home. Wayne & his crew worked efficiently, kept the job site clean, and delivered exactly what was promised. Their attention to quality and customer satisfaction really sets them apart. If you're looking for a reliable company for paver installation, I highly recommend Samurai Paver Systems. The finished product exceeded our expectations, and we've already received numerous compliments from neighbors and friends. Thank you, Wayne for a job well done! read more

We were looking to redo our backyard, and a friend recommended we talk to Wayne. (She had used him and his crew for a backyard project, too.) I had a few companies come out to quote the job, and Wayne's quote was the most thorough, transparent, and fair. From demo to completion, the project went smoothly and quickly. Wayne and his crew were always respectful, tidy, and thorough. Wayne was always easy to communicate with, and our family now considers him a friend. When the time comes to redo our front yard, we will only use Wayne and his crew. read more

For more than 10 years we have been staring at several cinderblock retaining walls that we built as part of a house and yard makeover. We wanted a stone panel facade and capstones installed on the walls to finish off the look and beautify the yard. The job was for approximately 700 square feet of face stones and 300 linear feet of cap stones. Additionally, we wanted 2 outdoor cement stairways tiled with porcelain tiles. One at the entrance to the front door and the other to access the upper level of the backyard. We met with Wayne of Samurai Paver Systems at the Alameda County Home Show and he said that he and his crew could handle the job. After several bids Samurai was not the lowest but by far not the highest. Being an engineer I had some idea how much time and money it would cost me to do it and I thought Wayne's price was reasonable. Wayne's preference was for us to purchase the materials and handle the delivery because his policy was not to mark up the cost of the material. He only wanted to charge us for the installation. This was a bit sticky because we had to deal with vendors and availability causing some delay. Additionally for such a large job we weren't sure how much extra quantity was needed because we did not know how much his crew would waste. Fortunately, I was a good estimator and when the materials finally arrived Wayne's crew showed up immediately to start the job. The contract between us was never signed but served as an outline. Wayne and I had a gentlemen's handshake and I asked if he wanted a deposit which he declined. He just asked for money to make weekly payroll for his crew. Under the supervision of his highly talented and skilled foreman Luis, five crew members worked hard for almost a month to complete the job sometimes in 100 degree weather and most always under my watchful exact engineer eyes. They were very thorough and payed attention to detail. I actually think they enjoyed doing the job and were proud of the end result. They were also conscientious about cleaning up at the end of each day. In the end our expectations were met and the end product is beautiful and enhances the look and curb appeal of the house. We would definitely recommend Samurai Paver Systems. read more

My wife and I hired Wayne to redo our entire backyard with pavers and crushed granite. Wayne and his team did a complete remodel of our our patio and pool deck, including some complicated drainage issues we wanted to fix. Wayne is an excellent visionary - while still keeping his designs flexible to what the homeowner wants to achieve. He also has great relationships with his suppliers, which is important when downstream issues come up that are out of our control - Wayne takes care of it. He is also very transparent about his costs and the project estimates, which wasn't always the case with some other bids I received. Above all - the project team, led by Luis takes real pride in their work. They are very communicative, and take the time to do the job right. If you're in the process of getting quotes for pavers, you may be as confused as we were when we started the process. The variance in price, project start time, completion date estimate, product cost, etc. was just unbelievable. We met with all the major vendors you hear on the radio, and TV, and just did not feel comfortable moving forward with any of them. Then we were referred to Samurai Pavers Systems. Scheduling a visit from Wayne, the owner of Samurai Pavers, was a very easy process and right away we knew we had the contractor we needed to get the job done. Every aspect of the job went well. From the demo, updating our drainage, irrigation, installation, and even landscape lighting. Could not be happier and would highly recommend you reach out to them to schedule a visit if you're in the market for new pavers. We've referred them to many friends and they have also been happy with their results. read more

We have a written financial agreement to replace our driveway & walkway with Samurai Pavers. Samuri Pavers Website States: * Put together a scale drawing of the project * Meet with you again * Show you the designs * Make a follow up call to answer new questions *Answer those questions We never received any of this. A few days before the demolition I'd asked Wayne about our existing front porch that has slate on it; including an additional 5 feet onto the walkway that would remain. I mentioned that it hadn't been discussed how the new pavers would look up against it. He abruptly told me not to worry about it because he'd been doing this for a long time. The day before the demolition I asked Wayne if I should go by the Masonry business to get a sample of the product or take pictures and he said no, he knew what we wanted. I hung up the phone feeling uneasy because although we'd picked out the stone; two and a half months had already passed since our original visit and there are variations of the stone. Example: Some are curved on the edges, some have a lightly textured surface, while others are heavily textured. These 2 simple questions wouldn't have taken much time, but without the dialogue; could have bad consequences after the product was laid. We are now a day before the demolition and again I tried to raise a question and I was told to "quit trying to control this" Our daughter was aware of all the details, and out of frustration I reached out to her via text message and said "Wayne is getting on my nerves because now he's telling me not to try to control this" I accidentally sent the text to Wayne and not my daughter. I felt terrible. Within 5 minutes Wayne contacted me and backed out of the deal. I told him I was sorry and explained why I said what I did. He then said in a very sarcastic tone that "he knew what type of personality I had the day he met me" I think it's important for others to know how judgmental this company is and how they don't deliver on the principles of their process that are listed on their website. I'd also encourage to err on the side of caution and ask all of your questions up front even if it's going to be several months out before your project starts because there's a chance this could happen again to someone else. read more

Samurai Paver Systems re-imagined our outdoor living space. We had an original square wooden deck with a pergola that need replacement. After interviewing several contractors and businesses, all different levels and scopes, trying to find the right fit for us, we ultimately chose Wayne and his team. What secured the deal was the 100% upfront honesty and solution oriented mindedness that balanced what we wanted and what was needed for our project. My expectations on my patio project were 100% exceeded by Samurai Pavers. The owner, Wayne, is a fountain of experience and helped tweak my design to help make the job turn out even better. The crew, led by foreman Luis, were meticulous in their performance and attention to detail. Working from home and being able to watch the entire project made me appreciate their teamwork and precision even more. The way they demoed the old concrete, prepped the ground, and then expertly prepared and leveled the entire project for perfect drainage was nothing but excellent. The way they staged the colors of the pavers to randomly spread across the project took extra time, and the landing and wall they construction was perfectly level at all points. Luis team worked as one, each performing tasks the entire time they were here. That made the job go extremely well, and as fast as possible without taking away the time it took to make everything perfect. I felt they would not have done a better job had they been doing their own patio, that is how much this crew cared. They showed me every step of the way when something had to be tweaked due to unforeseen circumstances, and any problem immediately became a solution. Moved my sprinklers and drainage as needed, and installed electrical throughout so I could easily add lights later if I chose to. Thank you Samurai Pavers. I could not be happier with my selection of this company for my project, and they were the best price of all who bid. I highly recommend them over any other local company. We used Samurai Paver Systems about 3 years ago. They did a wonderful job on our front and backyard. We always get comments on how wonderful everything looks. We now enjoy spending time in our yard. If you've decided to put in pavers, I highly recommend you consider Samurai Pavers. I chose Samurai Pavers in large part due to Wayne's upbeat attitude, attention to detail and the time he was willing to spend to make sure that I got what I wanted and was happy with the finished project. Wayne is quick to respond to messages and if an issue arises, he promptly addresses it, which I greatly appreciated as all contractors I've dealt with do not do this. The pavers I chose were on back order and took a long time to come in. Wayne gave me the option to choose another paver but did not pressure me. I decided to wait for the pavers I wanted and am so happy I did as I love the finished decking! The crew with Samurai were always polite, reliable and did outstanding work. If I ever need pavers again, I will definitely be contacting Samurai Pavers to do the job. read more

A broken pipe under our driveway prompted us to begin a search for a repair. While walking in our neighborhood we saw a paver installation that really stood out for quality. The homeowner happened to be coming out her front door so we asked her who did the work. She said "Samurai Paver Systems. They're in San Ramon. He's a real artist." We met with Wayne and picked a product. He explained his pricing structure and we agreed to go ahead. The site crew supervisor Luis and his workers were great. They acted as a team, were always on focus and worked hard. We are very happy with the result ! I do have some advice for anyone who will undertake a similar project. Be aware that your underground drainage system is an unknown and could require replacement. (We did not anticipate this extra cost.) Also, if at all possible, keep your garage door, other doors and windows closed as the demo results in everything being coated with a fine concrete dust. (I spent a day vacuuming most of it off of every horizontal surface in our garage.) Put a board over the lip of your garage floor (next to the demo) and it may same damage to your garage floor. (We had some made by flying debris but it was expertly repaired.) Lastly, make sure you don't leave anything of your own on the work site. They leave the site spotless - to their credit - but I ended up loosing some old lawn edging I had stashed behind a hedge for later use and a board that I put under a rubber driveway ramp to keep the car from hitting bottom as I pull in. (Turns out we don't need that board anymore because the car is much happier pulling in on the pavers and doesn't scrape the ground as it did. I will add that the crew was very attentive to detail, installing new wire and fixtures for landscape lighting, straightening out our water meter box, rebuilding a flower box and rejuvenating and testing the entire sprinkler system in the work area. We had a minor detail that needed attention and someone came out the next day and fixed it. They stand by their work. Again, we are very happy with the outcome and would recommend Samurai Paver Systems to make your project a success ! read more

Wayne Hurt and his staff are exceptional professionals. I recently had the pleasure of having his staff fully recondition and re-grout the pavers in the front of my house and I was impressed with the workmanship and the results. I am not sure how they kept everything so neat and clean given the fact that they had to grind the pavers. Wayne is the consummate gentleman who is justifiably proud of the work he and his staff perform. He has earned my trust and respect and I can not think of anyone I would rather hire. I have recommended Samurai Paver Systems to all of my family and friends and will continue to do so. read more

Wayne Hurt and Samurai Paver Systems installed a 340 square ft. paver patio in my back yard after I had a swimming pool removed a year earlier. This job included removing dirt and concrete, landscape grading, and installing a complete back, side, and front yard drainage system so that all water was directed away from the house. They also built a 180 square ft. retaining wall with lights and 480 square ft. of paver walkway around the house connecting the patio to the driveway. Lastly, they replaced my old, collapsing front fence with a new one to tie everything together. The experience was absolutely 5-Stars from start to finish and the final result was far beyond my expectation. During my first meeting with Wayne, I presented my initial thoughts. Wayne took my initial ideas and created an absolutely beautiful paver system that looked like it was the work of a professional designer and paver installer with an experienced eye for detail. Fifteen years ago, I contracted Samurai Paver Systems to create a project patio for my students at a school where I worked. Back then, Wayne was all about honesty, quality, and doing things the right way at a very fair price. Nothing has changed and I knew throughout the entire job that I would get my money's worth with an outstanding end result, which is the way it turned out. I selected Samurai Paver Systems over other companies for the following reasons: 1. My past experience with Wayne and his consistent, past-to-present 5-Stars reviews 2. Fair estimate with detailed list of work to be done 3. Wayne answered all my questions and addressed my specific needs 4. Samurai Paver Systems provided the appropriate company background information (license, insurance, etc.) and promptly responded to all my emails and texts. The reasons why the actual job was a 5-Stars experience: 1. The workers were professional, highly competent, efficient, and treated me like their customer. Their attention to details made me believe that they approached their work as if they were working on their own homes. 2. The work was completed on time and I didn't need to be home once the work began. If they needed information when I was not at home, I was contacted by text. 3. Immediate invoice updates were provided as I made changes and additions to the job. 4. I wait a year after my pool removal before doing any landscaping to see how the back and side yards drained during last year's very rainy season. The landscape grading and drainage system installation by Samurai Paver Systems were superb. Before the work began, Wayne told me, "drainage is of utmost importance in paver installation and has to be done correctly for positive, long term results." This was music to my ears, since I had a longstanding, 35 year problem with rain in my crawlspace during the winter months. I highly recommend Samurai Paver Systems. I can honestly say that everything about working with this Wayne, his foreman Luis, and the rest of the crew turned out better than I could have imagined. read more

I am compelled to write this review because of the outstanding experience that my wife and I received with Samurai Paver Systems. We have lived in our Livermore home for 22+ years and for 20+ years I have HATED our deck. I always had it scheduled as a "one day I'm going to get rid of that deck" project. Life gets in the way and that day came in May 2021. I happen to run across Samurai Pavers Systems on Cochran Landscape Materials website. I called Wayne the owner for a bid, as well as 4 other companies. Wayne came over listen to my "design" of what I was wanting. We discussed layout, drainage and some of thoughts about my design and subtle tweaks. I received bids from 5 companies total and chose Samurai to do the project. They were not the cheapest bid that I received but they certainly were not any where near the highest. Samurai Pavers fell right about what I was thinking was planning on paying, and I felt it was very transparent as he lined item the bid and to show exactly where my money was going. Once we settled the contract, Wayne insisted on my wife and I coming to the materials yard to look at the several variations, colors and manufactures of the flagstone design we wanted. We looked at them dry and wet, and different border options. Truth be told a little bit overwhelming, but glad we did as we went in thinking one coloration and choosing another. Wayne is an great guy very personable, professional and was easily reached with any questions that we had. The crew that came to our home were very professional, polite and efficient. They arrived around 8:00 am every morning and work until 4:30 pm. I happened to be off work most of the days that they were working and I do not recall seeing them not working unless on lunch. The crew cleaned up before leaving and made sure that the side gate was secured before leaving, since I have dogs. Their craftmanship with the pavers and cuts around post for the pergola were very precise. I can not say enough about the crew that worked at our home. Samurai Pavers, Wayne the owner, and his craftsmen are worth every cent. When we have future projects, we will certainly put Wayne and his company at the top of the list. read more

I'm just writing this review at this moment in time, because I think others could benefit from my experience. My wife suggested adding a playground set to the backyard for our daughter, so she has a safe space to play outside during this covid situation. But looking at our backyard it wasn't ideal to fit anything that we were looking at. Wayne happens to be our neighbor, so I asked if how I could fit a playground in my backyard, and if he could potentially cut some of the extra bricks off so I can put some sod. (we also had a vision of redoing our backyard, but figured that's a huge project that wasn't meant for us).. Wayne came over and said sure, absolutely he could help me out, but came up with some fabulous designs that matched what we wanted our backyard to be for us. Long story short, we're thrilled to be moving forward with his design and completely redoing our backyard space, and I have a great sense of what we're doing, and cost, and everything, and his past work is seriously top top class, so we're pretty honored that he is giving us time to work with us. His price is very fair, because that's who he is. Plus he genuinely enjoys his work, and he has made this project so fun for us! I will update this post with some pre and post pictures later, but if you were in the same position as us, definitely give Wayne a call and have him hear you out, and then blown away by his customer service, friendliness, and his very polished jobs! read more

Samurai Pavers just completed a very large project for us and we are EXTREMELY SATISFIED with the outcome.   The project consisted of: Demolition of the current flagstone/brick walkway, front steps, side access and retaining wall. Installation to replace all of this PLUS our 3 car driveway. HiRedesign of a portion of our backyard unusable rock area. Wayne and planning (design and material planning): Upon meeting Wayne I could not believe itwhat a  sincere and personable person he is.  His daughter Emma is so cute and well behaved.  I know this is because of his passion to be a great Dad.  His interaction with Emma was so genuine that I knew this guy is 'the real deal!!!!  He drove us around to see his projects from previous clients to give us ideas and help us decide upon what design and types of materials were to be used.  That was quite an education!  We then returned to our house where he proceeded to give us specific ideas to make our house quite a showplace.  Some helpful ideas were the design of the grey borders used in different sizes for different areas.  Also using those borders as 'caps' to accent the retaining wall and mailbox.  It was ingenious the way he 'remodeled' the mailbox to blend in with the whole scheme of the front. The 'crew': Wayne's crew are EXTRAORDINARY.  Their work is TOP NOTCH with 'perfection' being the only way to describe them.  Luis the foreman was a pleasure to work and converse with.  In fact the entire crew was wonderful.  They were always neat, prompt, fast and completed the job the 'right way'.... No shortcuts here.   The Result: We LOVE LOVE the completed project.  We've already had many people walk by and comment on how beautiful it looks. One thing I can say without hesitation, Samurai Paver Systems' finished product is of the highest quality. Everyone loves the new outside area of our home. A friend in the construction business told me, "This is one of the best paver jobs I've ever seen!" Thank you for making our home more beautiful and inviting to our family and friends. Quick update on the overall project. We had some minor settling in a small area of the yard, which Wayne told us would likely happen and would be completely normal. I'm writing on the behalf of my Aunt who had a great experience with Samurai Pavers: "Cheerful positive business man of his word. Use him." read more

Samurai Paver System is a solid and reliable business. Everything is run by the owner himself - Wayne - but he also has a super nice front man - Luis, who is a great pleasure to communicate with as well. In terms of pricing, I'd say they are somewhere in the middle but in terms of quality they are way up there. This makes me believe that it was a great choice for my wife and I to go with Wayne for our complete front yard overhaul. We had an original 1979 cracked all over concrete driveway and an ugly uneven walkway culminating in unsightly steps that our grandma scaled with great difficulty. Now, we have a modern gorgeously paved driveway with a flowing pathway leading to inviting entry steps with railings. Add to that a newly build porch with harmoniously incorporated raised plant beds - all designed by Wayne - and you can't really recognize our modest home anymore. We removed all grass and Luis with his crew brought in new soil, planted two dozen of California native and other drought resistant plants, installed top-of-the-line irrigation drip system and covered the whole area with weed barrier and great looking mulch (from Vision Recycling). They even manage to successfully transplant our beloved lilac bush from one side of the yard to another! The work was done on time although we had to get in line as Wayne and his guys are in high demand in our area. To sum it up, I'd say, if you are thinking about drastically changing the outside look of your home without going overboard financially, give Wayne a try and "you gonna like the way it looks, I guarantee it". read more

We had a small wooden deck in our back yard that I wanted to remove and replace it with a small patio. After talking to a number of contractors we found one that was interested but he never followed up. A couple of days later I called Samurai Paver Systems. Wayne responded immediately; he came over and we discussed the job and he agreed to do it. He explained to me what the job entailed and said he would send me a quote that evening. After receipt and my review of the quote I called Wayne and informed him that his quote was acceptable and asked him when he could start the work. He said they could start the following day. The crew showed up the next day and removed the wood deck and commence preparing the area for the pavers; the work was completed the following day. The crew was proficient, worked hard and did an excellent job. They were thorough, they did not destroy nearby plants and were careful not to damage sprinkler lines that were nearby. Upon completion of the job they cleaned the area thoroughly and removed all excess material and disposed of it. Needless to say, we are very pleased with the job done by the Samurai Paver Systems crew and I would recommend them to anybody that is looking for a paver contractor. Furthermore, I found Wayne to be customer oriented, professional, honest and responsive. Thank you Wayne and crew for an excellent job. read more
