My wife and I recently were looking to replace the front door of our home and had reached out to several places to obtain a quote including some of the big box stores. From the beginning Steve was excellent in terms of responsiveness and expertise. We decided to go with him, and ended up going with his referral to purchase our door from Apple Blossom Moulding and Millworks. Although it was a bit challenging to pick out a door with them (they were very busy) we stuck with it because we wanted Steve to do the install. We ordered our door and after a several-week lead time, our door came in. Once the door came in Steve was in regular communication regarding when he could do the install and once our schedules aligned he completed the install over a 2-day period. He did an excellent job and his attention to detail is impressive. Really appreciate the care with which he did the install and his updates along the way during the entire process. Steve Fenton was great to work with. My front door needed repair as the top hinge was pulling away from the frame, and the frame was splintering. I contacted several companies through Yelp with a few pictures, and Steve was the only one to reply back. Contractors are pretty busy these days, and I'm guessing a lot of them don't want to do small jobs. Steve immediately messaged that he was booked on the days I requested, but said I should call. I called the next day and was very lucky: he was available, close by in San Ramon, and showed up an hour later right on time. We had a very difficult window repair problem with a wooden living room window that is 11x7 feet containing 60 separate double panes most of which had lost their vacuum and become cloudy. We also had a 7x5-foot dining room window with the same problem. We got three contractors interested in the work. Fenton Construction had what we felt was the best approach which consisted of replacing all of the panes. Their quote was very reasonable, not the least expensive but 1/3 the cost of the most expensive bid, and certainly less than it would cost to install new windows. Steve Fenton and his helper started the work on schedule and completed this difficult job in 7 working days. They did an excellent job, its like we have two new windows. Steve came out to assess our front door which was not closing well. Instead of just saying to shave off the bottom so it will close better, Steve really took time to look all around and understand why our front door was not closing. He realized it was due to settling of our house, causing one side of our entry way to sink down more than the other side. Once he pointed it out to us and explained it, we could really see the settling and how lopsided the door was. We could tell he really knew his stuff. Plus we knew he was really good when he told us that if we wanted him to fix it, he was booked for the next 3 weeks, almost in an apologetic way, because he wanted to help us out. When we finally decided to bite the expense bullet (only expensive because of the time it would take), we called him and he had a cancellation due to the heavy smoke in the area from the massive Camp Fire. We jumped on it. He came and got to work. He gently took apart our door frame and did other stuff I do not understand because I'm sooooo not handy. When he was done about 5 hours later, the door closing was like butter. The gentle click of the door was a beautiful sound to my ears! Much better than the metal scraping sound that was before. Steve was on time, brought his own lunch and water, and didn't mind our tween boys being goofy and loud in the house the whole time he worked. He has completed two projects at our house and we can not say enough about his professionalism, can-do attitude and quality of work. After years of settling, our Anderson sliders had become stuck and difficult to operate. After speaking with a couple contractors that said we would have to replace the entire wall of windows and spend thousands and thousands of dollars I called Steve. He came up with another solution which was to remove the sliding doors and saw off a small amount off the frame. He gave us a reasonable estimate for the job and the sliders work like a dream again.
