Finally visited yesterday and ordered two chicken, steak and veggies bowls. The meat was not seasoned and drowned in soy sauce. I'm sure the sushi rolls are fantastic but not worth the bowls. I will not be going back for anything. I prefer waba bowls anytime because of flavor. Being a cook myself, you know good food from not so good. If they want customers, they need to have a restroom facility for people who dine in. read more

My family and I had dinner here tonight. So I mostly bade my reviews on a few things. Value and service are pretty high on my scale so read Mt review with that in mind First and biggest point... this is more really an express restaurant in my eyes then a sit down. We ordered 1 beef Ramen, 1 beef udon, 1 chicken teriyaki bowl, 5 pcs egrolls, crunch roll, and a bento box and 3 drinks. Total was $81 Value - I felt it was ok. Not way overpriced but I did feel it was a tiny pricey for what i saw. Some of the more "pop/high end" ingredients I'm used to seeing at other places weren't used here. For example - no boiled egg in the Ramen or the crunch rolls were a little soft and not too crunchy because it didnt have much ontop. The bowls lacks seeds, salad was just lettuce, and meat portions were small across the board on all dishes. The food overall is good but not great and portions are a little on the "smaller" side compared to other places I visit. Service - the service wasn't the best but good enough. Something that really bothered me was they give you tiny plastic spoons to eat your Ramen or udon with. I'm not used to that. The egrolls Iordered came at the end after the food all came. I get it. But I'm one of those - I'm going to order an appetizer to eat before my food because I'm hungry, and hopefully it doesn't come too late or it's pointless kinda guy - I had to get up from my table to ask for things multiple times (no problem) but this review is meant to give a heads up. Would I return? Maybe- more likely not. I think the pricing makes me compare this place to a restaurant that offers better food or much better value for just a little more money. read more

Last night my dad and I were looking for a good Japanese place close by so we decided to try out Samurai Kitchen. The whole time that I've lived in corona I've always passed this place without knowing it was there! The restaurant itself is small and a little dingy we decided not to eat there. But the sushi roll was honestly the star of the show! It was so flavorful and had the right consistencies that you'd want in sushi! The beef teriyaki plate was also pretty good the beef was nice and tender with delicious sauce. My dad got the chicken teriyaki plate and he thought the beef dish was much better, he said the chicken was dry and the best part of his dish was the rice. The plate came with a fresh salad but the sauce they gave with it is thousand islands, I wish they had a choice for a vinaigrette because the thousand island just tasted like mayo. read more

I finally tried this place after years of passing by it. I would say I would give it a 3.7 stars. Value for the price just wasn't there. I order the combo meal with chicken beef over a bed of rice with a little salad. It was close to $10 with no drink. Food was fresh and tasted good. I was given very little meat. Just a thin layer sprinkled on top of the rice. You get so much more meat at MOS 2 or even as WABA. Salad was just spring mix possibly out of a box. What was not okay is that I asked for teriyaki and they wanted 90 cents for a small little container?! That is like being charged for ketchup for your fries! This is a great place to get reasonably price sushi and sushi beginners! They have udon that is really good. I love the thick al dente noodles and broth. Rainbow roll is really good as well. It is on the corner and it is really convenient. Great place for to go. The customer service is friendly and quick. We have also tried the baked lobster roll and spicy tuna roll. There's nothing "samurai" about this place, other than they butcher what real sushi quality and flavors should be like. I don't usually encounter a sad hole-in-the-wall that desperately needs help with their menu as well as their customer service. It's tempting to want to get everything off the menu, such as their special or regular sushi rolls because they're offered at half off, or whatever discount they have. But, the sushi then comes looking like it had a bad explosion on your plate or if you take your food home, in your styrofoam plate. And don't get me started on their ramen! It's NOT ramen! It's watered-down broth with spices, noodles, and whatever meat you get with it. And as for customer service, there's this girl and another lady who takes the orders. The girl is just not the best at taking orders and comes off with some attitude. Not good for business. So, would I come here again? Right off the bat, I love looking for hole in the wall establishments and I love sushi. The sushi quality is not half bad. The price isn't unreasonable either. Roll was delicious. I didn't quite care for the soy sauce provided as I prefer kikkoman. But to each their own. The beef in the Ramen had a sweet flavor too it and the Udon noodles were soft and flavorful. But I feel as if all the flavor stuck to the noodles and beef and not much in the broth itself. Which isn't bad if you eat it together. And I kinda wish the beef was left in bigger pieces in the ramen so it would be easier to grab with the chopstick. Was cut into very small pieces. I would recommend to give this place a try and decide for yourself. Be aware though they don't take time to prepare your food. Just means it comes to your hands fresh. read more

Once upon a time I was a huge fan of this place when it was called "Minkane Teriyaki House". I literally would go in at least 4 times a week just to eat there. Unfortunately this place is now owned by that woman's brother (or husband, not sure). Ever since this place swapped ownership and chefs I have been coming here less and less. At Minkane Teriyaki House I usually ordered tofu tempura with a small side of vegetable chow mein and steamed rice and received a complimentary miso soup. I went back to samurai kitchen and asked for the same order and not only was it a tad bot more expensive it was poorly made. I was heart broken. The tempura was bland and super soggy and the tofu inside was not cooked nor warm. It was just awful. Since than, many friends have gone (since I practically lived there) and said the same, it was awful. Moving forward, another item I would get is a super or rose bowl which is beef chicken veggie bowl topped with tempura chips and a tempura shrimp on top with a side of a avocado roll. The bowls are the same just a bit overcooked but nothing to complain about. The avocado roll looked awful. The avocado itself was rubbery and tasted nothing like an avocado. I ended up just picking it out and eating the nori and rice. It wasn't rolled neatly, looked completely sloppy and could use a lot of work. The price for these items were pretty decent roughly about a $8 meal so I guess I can't complain too much once again.... Heavy on the I guess... I go here about every once in a blue moon when I want a quick teriyaki fix but I no longer recommend this place to friends which is really heart breaking. The new staff and chef are sweet but lack a unique punch that drives a loyal customer to come back. I feel that they also lack good communication skills and can be very awkward at times. Overall, I just wish this location remained as Minkane Teriyaki House and had the same cook. Not only was she a sweetheart but made her plates with love and beautifully plated everything. I think it was a huge mistake for her to go and let a family member take over since the food is prepared in poor quality. read more

WORST ramen bowl ever! I ordered shrimp ramen, I don't think it was even ramen. It was a boiling cup of seasoned water with some kind of noodles. Hardly any noodles at all. They gave me 2 pieces of fried shrimp in a bag on the side. And 2 floating things on top. The water was so hot, it melted my spoon and burnt the roof of my mouth. I would not even give it 1 star. I heard a good verbal review for this place. So I tried it during lunchtime last weekend. I was so disappointed with the $9 baked lobster roll and $9 baked scallop roll. These were California rolls topped with a lot of additional crab and then two teaspoons of lobster and scallops. Some of the crab on top of the scallop roll was over cooked and appeared to be scorched as in black. There wasn't much flavor in either roll. Definitely not what I'm accustomed to at various other similar joints. I've Never seen a roll topped with crab that way when it's to be another crustacean. This is my second time here and I once again got the Alaskan bowl. I really love the dressing that they put on the salmon, crab meat and salad. I actually really like that it comes with a bit of salad because it helps to counter the heaviness of the sauce. I ordered it with brown rice with was an extra eighty cents. I also got the shrimp tempura and gyoza side combo. The gyoza was deep fried and that surprised me. I had about a 30 minute drive before I got home and by that time, the gyoza and tempura were a little soft but the flavor was still very good. This is definitely a hole in the wall sort of restaurant that serves really great, fresh food. The food is not overpriced and is always well portioned. I really want to try their noodle soons the next time I come back. I've always tried their chicken teriyaki bowl (my boyfriend's favorite) and I really like the chicken here. It is very tender and the sauce is very tasty. They have a large variety of rolls as well, all which are very good. I was very surprised by how small this place is the first time I came here. I was a fan of this place when it was Minkane and run by a sweet Japanese lady. Her son took over and the place went downhill. I avoided eating here after he took over as the quality of food was horrible. However, I took a chance when it changed names (and ownership) and found the new owner to be nice and excited about his new venture. I tried a spicy chicken bowl which was cooked and seasoned well (with a good amount of heat!). My fiance ordered a spicy tun bowl that was equally good in flavor and heat. The daily happy hour deals are pretty good too. I'm glad that the new owner salvaged this place. The only thing I miss are the bento plates. *tear read more
