Literally the best southern food you'll find north of the Mason-Dixon. Awesome little hole in the wall too!

The food and service are good. Small place with a few tables. I always get carryout, but it's decent enough to dine in also.

Excellent all around. Kinda looks like there are selling cell phones or something outside, but the food is really good.

Food was 6/10. Shrimp cooked well but fries and hush puppies were burnt. I did not like the coleslaw. Service was ok.

ABSOLUTE PERFECTION FROM START TO FINISH 10/10!…read more Perfection. Everything about Talbots is absolute perfection. I eat A LOT of food, and one common denominator I see among top-tier restaurants is that the owners and management are a direct reflection of the overall experience, quality, and taste. Talbots is no different. We felt right at home from the moment we walked in. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, like lifetime friends. Our waitress, Teresa, was fantastic. She passed all the vibe checks and matched our energy immediately, all the signs of a veteran server you want guiding you through one of the best eating experiences of your life. She gave us her recommendations and left us to decide. We knew we were here for the #hashtagyouwont 36oz ribeyes, but we wanted to see what else was recommended since everything looked and sounded amazing. We decided to order a lot of food, almost everything that was recommended. This will be a bit of a long-winded review, but I'm sure the true foodies will appreciate it, so here we go: THE APPETIZERS The Brie: How can brie be so good that it deserves to be talked about first? I have no idea, but it was excellent. The strawberry-jalapeño jam, brie, candied pecans, baby naan, and fruit just worked so well together. An absolute hit. Pork Cheek Tacos: These melted in your mouth and exploded with flavor. They were also a really decent size, we were expecting little bite-sized tacos on a dumpling wrapper, but got two substantial tacos instead which was a pleasant surprise. Naan Bombs: Flat out delicious, and there were enough in the serving for everyone to have a few. Duck Wontons: So unique and flavorful. These were like little empanada explosions of flavor. THE MAIN EVENT: THE 36OZ RIBEYE When I tell you this was a perfect steak, this was a perfect steak. Cooked medium rare, oozing with flavor, and charred to absolute perfection on the outside. That is no easy feat with a cut this size, but somehow Talbot and crew made it seem like a walk in the park. Hidden under the steak, soaking up all the juices, are the house cut fries. I forgot they were even there because of the sheer size of the meat! By the time I discovered them, they were soaked with steak juice, but somehow remained crispy and soggy at the same time. It was brilliant, the fries almost had a poutine like aspect to them. Magnificent, completely unique, and made so much sense. As for the side of corn salad.... absolutely mind blowing. It just looked like corn with some sauce on it, nothing special at all. I am so sorry I underestimated you, Mr. Corn Salad. My God, this stuff was amazing. It didn't make sense to me, but I didn't care, I just kept shoveling it into my mouth. DESSERT We saved room for dessert (of course) and got three: The Chocolate Cake: A plate of pure, chocolaty goodness. Pecan Sweet Potato Pie: Spectacular. Coconut Cream Cheesecake: Wow. I am a sucker for coconut and cream cheese anything, and this checked every single box. THE VERDICT Throughout the night, we watched Talbot go up to each table to check in on everyone, and the chef even came out to talk to us. It was an absolute perfect meal top to bottom, start to finish. You can tell how much this entire establishment cares about what they do, and it is a direct reflection on the food. It's not often I can say a meal is flawless, so I have to give them their flowers in a long well deserved review. Five stars, two thumbs up, and a standing ovation for Talbots Taproom. P.s. Extra kudos for all the cool art and overall atmosphere. There is a ton of stuff to do outside as well but we were there on a chilly night so remained inside. We saw a patio, disc golf, and all sorts of other activities, even a tree house. We can't wait to make the hour trip again and enjoy all they have to offer once summer is in full swing!

Steak was well seasoned and cooked properly. I had the Asian BBQ, Nobody Likes a Party Pooper. Everything tasted pretty good but was all cool. NOTHING came out hot. Not sure how they try to keep the ribs and pork belly warm but it wasn't working. And not sure why the egg roll and potstickers were cool. Nice relaxed, comfortable atmosphere at the bar.

I ordered Eggplant Parm it came with a salad that could have fed 4 people and called it a side salad . When the eggplant came it looked like a plate of sauce and that's all you tasted was sauce. My friend got a French Dip sandwich that looked like a big hoagie with French fries on the sandwich that they never did before . It wasn't even cut in half . Presentation was lacking . Service was good that's all I can say good about it. I won't be going back for now . Maybe they will get a new chef and fix things. Sorry but it wasn't good ! Just being honest.

It was 3pm when I walked in, and 30 minutes later after two beers walked out with a full rack, extra sauce. Best thing about the ribs? They have that light char taste that goes right through the meat down to the bone. The girl tending bar was great, took good care of my order, and that order was ready just as the beer went empty, so great service. The Oaks has been right here for many many years, pretty eclectic crowd, but mainly just a joint to enjoy the food, have a drink or a beer, and talk to folks. The inside is a nice mish mash of old photos, art that is more thoughtful than you'd expect, and a long wall length bar, that hits the far wall and becomes a row of booths coming back up the other wall. Plenty of good parking, and through the warm months they got outdoor bands, so, something for everyone. Oh, and it's a good place to just be. If you're alone, or killing time, perfect spot. Seriously. The pic is what I do once I get the ribs all the way back to New Castle, toss in a casserole put in the oven wrapped in foil at @240 degrees for 30-40 minutes, gets them right at perfect.

Neither of these hurt the review because though slow, service was very friendly and I would just cut out the app if I want a better price. PE was an enjoyable experience. It's nestled right in every day suburbia which made it fun - the local place. The fried chicken and waffles was very good and portions are fair. My server allowed me to sub mashed potatoes instead of the day's veggie, which I appreciated. I was excited to try "blueberry glazed" wings which, major bummer, we're seasonal. I got the sweet-hot. The wings were tasty but a little sog - slightly longer fry and good to go. I recommend Pineapple Eddie and I'll be adding it to my Erie rotation when I visit again

I ended up taking my meal to-go and ate it later -- absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the bartender completely changed the experience for me. She was a redhead working the bar around 7:30 PM, and from the moment I sat down, she was noticeably unwelcoming. I was literally the only person sitting at the bar, yet she barely checked on me, offered no conversation, and honestly came across with an attitude the entire time. As someone who has worked in the bartending industry myself and who travels often visiting different restaurants and bars, hospitality matters. A bartender sets the tone for the entire experience, especially for solo guests. Sitting alone at a bar can already feel awkward enough, and a warm, welcoming attitude goes a long way. I still tipped her generously despite the experience, because that's just who I am, but management should really pay attention to how guests are being treated behind the bar. It's disappointing because I truly loved the place itself and wanted to give it a full 5 stars. With better customer interaction from the bartender, this place would easily deserve it. My wife enjoyed the fish dinner, which was pleasantly a large piece of haddock, which seems rare in these parts where Cod reigns supreme. She said it was nice and flaky, huge portion, and not too "slimy" like the fish fry dinners back in Western NY. The hand cut fresh fries and coleslaw were welcomed treats as well.
