We come here regularly to watch a local band. The food is normally pretty good, but decided to try the fish. It looked great but was pretty bland . The batter had no seasoning and the fish tasted like it was defrosted in water and the breading was very greasy . I'll stick to the other items we've gotten here before . The burgers, flatbreads, ribs etc have always been great . The last few times the service has been getting worse, this time we got there at 4:30 and had great service until 6:30 . The people beside us waited over an hour to order and I had to tell the waitress. We look back to left of bar and staff is always hanging out back there talking. No one seems to help one another . Some of the male staff just put off a really bad vibe and truly Never see them helping out . We've been passing by this place repeatedly, always saying we wanted to try it and today was our day. We did scope out the menu online before coming and it looked promising. I in particular was attracted by the daily prime rib special. My wife, the fish dinner. The prime rib was very flavorful. It's charcoal roasted and well seasoned. It wasn't the most tender prime rib I've had but the flavor made up for it. My wife enjoyed the fish dinner, which was pleasantly a large piece of haddock, which seems rare in these parts where Cod reigns supreme. She said it was nice and flaky, huge portion, and not too "slimy" like the fish fry dinners back in Western NY. The hand cut fresh fries and coleslaw were welcomed treats as well. Overall, we enjoyed our food immensely, which can be a surprise sometimes for bars. We took a peak at the outdoor seating which looked very fun and inviting for a warmer day. Food was great, service was terrible. Took a waitress a while to see us, got our drink order and meal order and appetizer. A long time later we saw the waitress go by us with strangely familiar looking food as she took it all outside-then she came back in with it all-it was out meals and the appetizer. I asked about the appetizer being served with the meal-she snapped that some people hadn't shown up for work today. The food was good, especially the ribs. When done, the waitress came up and said 'boxes and the bill?' Did not ask us if we wanted dessert or anything else. Would be a much nicer place if the staff would smile and be a little happy-the only staff member we saw smile was the bartender as we were walking out the door........and my wife observed that she was not engaging the customers at all after making drinks, she'd walk to the back of the bar and not spend time with them......seems a very unhappy staff. First no one answered the phone. I thought man these guys must be busy. Instead of waiting I drove there to order. When I got there. There was 3 customers at the bar and 2 tables had customers. My family and I went here today (Mother's Day of 2024) and I want to say we all were very impressed!! The greeting we got when walked in, our server, the other workers were so nice and very polite!! The food is really hit or miss here I ordered an inferno burger with a side of tomato & lettuce ( didn't receive), no bun (I received), the cheese is on the side which I could hardly peel off the paper and a whole lot of bacteria since this was raw. Friday made a take out order. Again this place never disappoints. I suggest if you haven't already tried please try this restaurant. The ribeye steak sandwich is to die for the meat is high quality and generous. It comes with onion mushrooms and cheese. Just the right amount of each. The flavors all are perfectly matched. Ordered the Burley Man Burger which was not too bad but typical of a Burger at just about anywhere..Two meat patties with some bacon..Heres where it got me..Says on the menu for 2.00 more you an substitute French Fries and get Potato Salad..Expecting the Potato Salad to be kind of proportionate to my meal was what i was expecting but i was wrong...It was in like one of those sample cups like what they pass out at places like Sams Club when sampling one of their foods they want you to buy..It was 2 spoon fulls of salad at best..And not only that but i have tasted better potato salad in one of those cheap tubs you buy at the super market..I doubt i go back as the whole meal was nothing special..Too many places that have way better tasting Burgers and in my opinion here even if they would have kept the fries on the plate an charged 2 bucks for the salad i still would have felt cheated.. read more

Heard a lot about the burgers (raving accolades) and they're the special on Tuesday nights, so it's Tuesday, I order 2 "Fat Burgers (cheeseburgers) for carryout and off I go, COVID mask in hand. Two tales to tell- one of service, one of food. Place was kinda busy and I wasnt sure where carryout pickup was, so i inquire to a server and she brusquely tells me "we'll be with you in a minute", so i took a seat. I eyeball two carryout packages at end of bar. Hmm. After sitting there about ten minutes, I was finally approached and given my order. Place needs more staff and a smile or two goes a long way. Second tale, the food- the burger was just OK, but I've had better (try Ruby Tuesday's!!). But the fries? OMG, mebbe the best I've had. Crazy good. I used to tell EVERYONE that this was my favorite restaurant in Trumbull. I moved to Boardman and hadn't been back in quite some time and went tonite and was thoroughly dissatisfied. The quality of food was awful The way they brought my wife's surf and turf on three different plates ? Doesn't sound bad but they came out with her 3! Shrimp on a plate a good 10 minutes after her steak . My "prime rib " was in no way a prime rib . It was the absolute thinnest cut of super fatty cheap meat that was grilled well done . ? Wtf The portions were comical. Never seen such a debacle. Apparently there is a new owner and he really needs to figure this out soon. This place was the gold standard for pub food . Now honestly just trash . It breaks my heart I must add our server was very friendly and efficient. She should get a job at another restaurant ASAP . Her talents are being wasted there. I will never patronize Up a Creek again. We ordered a Reuben for my mom. When it came, the toast was quite burnt. It had also taken quite some time. The waitress said she'd bring another. My mom said that she didn't want to wait, just forget it and remove it from the bill. Here the manager only removed 50%, expecting us to pay the rest. After I informed him that by no means would that EVER happen because we never received an edible order and didn't eat any of it. He said because it was delivered to the table, the owner won't remove the charge fully. We scrounged up enough cash to pay everything (he wouldn't charge the partial amount) but that charge for the Reuben. I gave the waitress her tip and told her she was absolutely not to give them that money for the sandwich, that was hers. I gave her the remaining $61 (for the three truly pitiful meals we did eat,) left my name and told them to come find me if they want so I can explain again why their policy is illegal. Businesses complain that no one's coming to their places but then treat the customers that DO come like crap. No thank you. read more

Came here for dinner on a Tuesday as they have half off appetizers, burgers and sandwiches. The place was packed for happy hour when we arrived at 6 pm and we were seated and received our first round of drinks. I ordered the fish sandwich with fries and it did not disappoint. The fish fillet was huge and hung over the bread a few inches and tasted great. Overall this bar/restaurant was a great place for food or just to hang out and watch a game as they had a lot of TV's all over the place. The only down side and the reason they only got 3-stars was the slow service. The waitress was polite and great, but they seemed understaffed, which caused delays getting food and drink refills in a timely manner. Overall I really liked this place. read more

A group of us got together here for a few drinks. We sat outside, which, thankfully, didn't reek like the inside did. I'm not sure if they were boiling peanuts or what, but my daughter and I were very sensitive to it, and I've not noticed it on prior visits. I'm not docking a star because of that, though. Our server was nice, she came back several times to see if we were ready to order. Our food was a little slow, but it was good. We had the chicken nachos, which looked like they were done in the oven. They were delicious! My 5 year old daughter had an ice cream sandwich dessert and she said it was "super-good". read more

Love this place and the food but HATE that we can't sit on the patio without having to smell people's nasty cancer sticks. There needs to be a designated smoking section away from nonsmokers. Fantastic outdoor area - best I've seen in the valley. Usually decent bands and a great vibe on a nice evening. Food is pretty good and reasonably priced (as are the drinks). As stated before, this place is great in the summer when the outside bar is open. The negative here is service - hit or miss, and when it's a miss it's really bad. This place has some of the best food I've had in this area! I have come here many times and have never had a bad meal. The atmosphere is great and I love the bands that they have here. Their biggest downfall is the service. It is absolutely terrible! I have never waited longer to get a beer. The key to getting your drinks when you want them is to order the next round when you get the first one. When you order food it will either come out relatively quick or you will wait 45 minutes. I wouldn't go to this bar at anytime day or night. I have been there both times! My friends said the food was great. I gave it a try for dinner. Their service was really bad. They take their sweet time bringing you your food and drinks plus they are rude! AND my burger was average. Thinking I got it on an off day or I got their B Squad, I went there after the baseball game let out, and the bouncers were attacking people in the parking lot. One guy was bleeding everywhere BECAUSE the bouncer sucker punched him!!!! Went to Up a Creek today (06/27/18) and had the wing special, as usual the wings were great. The service which is generally not the best was the real surprize, a server by the name of Sarah who waited on us and was by far one of the best waitpersons I have ever had, even at more up scale places. She was friendly, but not overly familiar, checked to see if we needed anything, but didn't hover, served everything quickly, gave us our check when we were done eating, but told us we didn't need to rush, to relax and enjoy ourselves.
