I'm on a roll today doing quite a few reviews of the grocery stores that I regularly frequent. I have been coming to the Sam's for over a decade and I'm finally doing a review really based on the curbside pick up order and capability. Let's start with the fact that the application that you use to put in an order is very rudimentary in functionality. You cannot reschedule you cannot cancel. You cannot edit your order. Sam's Club or better yet the Walmart corporation needs to invest some money in order to fix this particular app Further, once you check in at the club that you have parked and you indicate your parking spot I have never waited less than eight minutes for someone to come out with my order. This is absurd because I wait less time to get gas at Sam's. What's even more annoying is that my phone will indicate that I've already picked up my order and yet the Sam's Club employee still has not exited the building with my order so someone is gaming the system to show that they in fact, moving faster than they really are. So the three stars are quite simply because of the horrible wait time the horrible app the inability for the Walmart corporation to actually improve this let alone the Walmart corporation interest in improving it does not exist. Also, whoever set up the parking spots for pick up was not thinking because all the parking spots are right on top of each other, which does not allow the Sam's Club employee to maneuver or get around with those huge carts that they are pushing. Someone clearly was not thinking again. read more

After a decade of not being a member of Sam's Club we decided to rejoin. The membership was $25 . Not much has changed in several years, the store is layed out in the same way and mimics Costco. They do have different products than Costco and we took our time getting reacquainted with their products. Check out was a breeze. We used self checkout ! Walking out they have technology that does not require a person to review your purchases. Overall, we were not disappointed! read more

We gave Sam's Club rotisserie chicken a try today and I liked it. You get a big chicken for $4.98. The seasoning is a bit milder and blander than Costco's very similar and popular product. I liked the taste of Sam's Club better than Costco actually. Regardless of subtle differences in taste preferences, it's a chicken deal that can't be beat, and maybe tied at best! read more

This Sam's Club location is always a great experience. This is my local Sam's Club, I have gone to others and this one is fantastic compared to others in the area. The store is clean, organized, and easy to navigate, which makes shopping quick and efficient even when it's busy. The staff have always been friendly and helpful whenever I've needed assistance. One thing I really appreciate is how well stocked everything usually is, especially the everyday essentials and bulk items. The checkout process is also smooth, and the Scan & Go option makes it even faster. This trumps Costco for me and I love Costco! Also curbside is the best! Lots of pick up options, often same day! Overall, this location does a great job maintaining a positive shopping experience. I always leave feeling like it was worth the trip. Definitely a reliable Sam's Club! Yes they do scan the receipt I have had a full cart, receipt scanned, or two items receipt scanned I guess it just depends and doesn't bother me. read more

This is one of my favorite Sam's Clubs to shop at (the other one is in Vernon Hills, which is near my office)! I love shopping at Sam's for all my snack foods, candy and pop (and other non-organic, non-free range, non-yuppie/Costco-type, nutritionally-woke groceries)! For example, I love that I can buy Snickers by the case here, plus huge bags of different kinds of Cheetos, Doritos, Fritos, and Funyuns! For pop, I love buying the variety case of Ginger Ale! Plus, since this summer's been really hot, I love buying the 3 different cases of Italian Ices/Freezer Pops they sell here too!! Last, I love that neither Sam's Club is clogged with annoying people on their mobile phones, rudely blocking the aisles. Plus their check out lines are quicker too! And, the employees at both stores are friendly, professional and efficient! Both stores deserve much higher ratings than just 3 cheap measly stars!!! Too many overly-demanding, insufferable, judgmental twits running around these days!! read more

9/25/25: Beyond annoyed, I had 3 stacks of paper plates, THREE!!!! Not only was my thumb hurting from closing a door on it, but I was trying to juggle everything. SHE LITERALLY stopped me and scanned the receipt, scanned each FREAKING PLATE bundle!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? Beyond ridiculous. Then she kept checking her scanner. The absolute worst Sams Club in existence. Curbside pick-up will never be ready in the window you select. Employees are clueless. Sam's Club Des Plaines Auto front desk and mechanics are gang of thieves. Today I went to fix the flat tire which doesn't have any visible hole outside but the mechanic came and showed me there is a visible hole (Looks like the mechanic made a hole to purchase a tire) which can't repairable so you need to replace a new tire and I bought all 4 tires for safe side. I went day before to check the tire maintenance alert so he reset the settings and he was suggesting to replace all 4 tires, seems to be they are doing all these mischief things when they don't have any work to make them busy to get money to the store and keep their jobs safe. read more

I went to the Bakery to pick up a cake, but the order was not in the system. They page the manager bakery I was trying to explain to the manager, but he had a serious face towards me. He also had a bad attitude with me like I'm not a costumer. He's not a professional manager. I would not recommend going to this Sams Club worst manager EVER! read more

I used their online service and ordered three goods using the app. The app UI is fairly easy to navigate and I had no trouble finding what I needed. The only issue that I have is with their service; it takes an extended amount of time to process the merchandise, and I didn't pick it up until the next day. Picking up was made simple, and I'm pleased that I didn't have to leave my car because they offer curbside pick up. The curbside pickup area is located south of the building beside the tires department, and it is difficult to miss if you follow the sign. Once parked, I use the app to inform the staff that I'm there so they may deliver the products to my car. The personnel was helpful in loading the stuff into my car. Overall, I'm satisfied and I anticipate using this service more frequently over the winter. read more

You know, I pay for a premium membership to get in here at 7 AM and they change the hours. So now you can't get in until 8 AM and the pharmacy is not open until 9 AM. It's kind of aggravating because you're trying to get your day started and now I'm sitting in the parking lot waiting for the pharmacy to open so I don't have to drive back here. Additionally, they don't seem to have as many products as they once did.You can't really count on a product you liked to be stocked again. For example, I waited almost a month to pick up half-and-half for coffee. The first time I thought it was just timing. The second time I thought wow, OK. And then finally the third time in one month still not stocked. I figured they're going the way of other products and not going to stock half-and-half anymore. Really? was finally able to score half-and-half today! read more

I love Sam's. This location- Des Plaines- offers less angst than the Evanston location. Getting gas was not easy this time; it was barely coming out. We waited in line for about twenty minutes and gave up after a gallon. Oh well. Still love Sam's but I'm not getting gas here again. read more

I am so disappointed in Sam's CLUB in Des Plaines Il, first my package never came on the day that they said it would? I am a very patient person and I do understand late deliveries. But don't lie and say that you tried to deliver a package and it didn't come to my house and I was home all day. FedEx told me over the phone and send me a text message but the package tracking system showed me it was still on route from Romeoville,Illinois and to Wheeling Illinois where the said they left my package and no one was there to receive it? I live in Northbrook Illinois and I never seen anyone at the time come here. Now they tell me that the package would be delivered the next day. I did receive today but it was the wrong item send out to my home. I ordered Pop tarts and received garbage bags. I will never order from Sam's CLUB again. I am done with the $8.00 delivery fee just to get the wrong product and FedEx just to be told a lie about where my package is before correcting the mistake that they made after I complained. I feel sorry for people ordering for Christmas. read more

My mom is housebound and I'm her daughter and caregiver. She likes some items from Sam's club, so, I bought her a membership, online. I took her driver's license, credit cards, etc (identifying information) to customer service and they refused to give me her membership card. They said she needed to appear, in person. Again. My mom is housebound, in a wheelchair, on oxygen, 88 year's old and can not come in. Even the manager refused to cooperate with he. I offered to phone her, FaceTime with her, Nope!! Update: This Sam's Club has gotten better since my last review in 2020. I've gone back and seems like they try to have items stock and available. Considering what's going on in the world, they are trying to keep up with stocking and have been a regular shopper here again. read more

This location lacks customer service. I've been a sams Club member for over 5 years, and i have the plus card. I walked around, and no one said hi, no one could assist me, nothing. All i wanted was a package of packaging tape, but of course, as i walked around, i wanted more items. I wanted to self scan, but my app wouldn't allow me to scan my items. Why? What's going on with this app? So, instead, i went through self checkout. It's nice that the self checkout wasn't too packed, and I spotted right through. I then wanted a slice of pizza and a pretzel. I made my purchase and was told 3 mins for my pretzel. 10 mins later, still no pretzel. I approached the desk and waited. Finally, the lady asked if I got my pretzel, and I said no. She then took a pretzel away from another customer and gave it to me. Hmmmm. I then went to the line at the exit. There was only one associate scanning receipts. Really??? I waited in line for her to scan my one item. Maybe allow customers to skip the scan when the line builds up. Very unprofessional location. Maybe the management team should be more involved and set standards. I'm not happy with this location. I need to rethink my membership in March. read more

Sam's is a membership club! So... some services are open to everyone, such as their good valued cafe - though sometimes low on choices near the end of the day. For most services and items you will need to purchase a membership. If you buy for several people, such as a family of four, you will find that the membership and additional savings come back in short order! The pricing is good, if you don't mind getting larger quantities. Non-perishables such as toilet paper are a great deal! Food items, you will need someplace to keep the larger refrigerated or frozen foods since they packaging is larger. For fresh produce, the peaches, grapes, etc... are great, but you need to eat them before they run their cycle. They are cheaper than grocery, but you need to eat, for example, all 5 avocados before they get too ripe. ;-) Customer service is great! We've found that, if there is an issue, it is addressed immediately and professionally by their managers. They have been few, and really no more than other stores. The general help is between courteous and exceptional. I've not used automotive help at this location, but at other stores they are basic for tires and the like. The gas station (member's only) has consistently great pricing. Either one of the lowest prices in the area, or THE lowest by as much as $0.15/gallon! The attendants are not the most attentive, but good for basic questions. Gas pumps are fairly self-explanatory. Another great thing about this station is that the hoses are long enough to easily reach around your car to the other side. Pull up to any pump, and you can reach either side to fill - no need to wait in the line with the pump on your tank side! ADVICE regarding this last point... Children, when driving in a crowded gas station, there are arrows for direction of traffic. PLEASE follow these directions and proceed to a pump in turn as a basic courtesy to others waiting - as mentioned, you can fill up from either side with long hoses. Should you happen to think you're more important than the rest of us and try to cut around the wrong direction, please don't yell at the next person in line when they pull up into YOUR spot (which isn't yours) when you essentially cut in front of the other 12+ cars already waiting! This is especially true if you drive a highly distinctive white jeep with decals on the hood, so your neighbors can (hypothetically) recognize you when you text and drive - and forget to go when the light turns green. ;-) Okay, enough fun for the store! Yes, it's a warehouse club! Yes, they have great prices, and yes, it can get busy sometimes. Be patient and enjoy the savings if this fits the needs of you and your family! read more

5/5 this time around. I found exactly what I was looking for (fresh poinsettias) and they were beautiful. I bought 13 for a Christmas party and they were well received. I was shocked that I was able to buy such a large quantity on a Sunday morning, as weekends are typically slammed here. Guess I just shopped at the right time. We were able to avoid the Direct TV salespeople this time, too. Thank goodness. Gas prices have also been cheap here. Near $1.85/per gallon the past couple of weeks. The $45 annual membership fee would be worth it even if you just want to save on gas. Will be back. read more

I am in desperate need of 4 new tires for my SUV and went in to get a price confirmation and set a appointment, the kid at the computers in the tires was horrible and after I told him I needed tires his reply was GIVE ME YOU'RE MEMBERSHIP CARD TO LOOK UP THE TIRES...rude asf! his attitude was enough to send me to Discount Tire and get them cheaper and treated like a customer! I can only imagine how much money walks out that door because of the lack of customer service the employees have!! read more

I am at that age where I get excited over grocery shopping. Sam's has some good deals, but you have to be careful. Jewel/Osco will have better deals. I always shake my head when I come here to shop, watching some people just blindly pull bulk groceries off of the shelf, thinking they're getting a deal. I can tell they are on a budget and half the time I feel bad for them. For instance, Sam's pricing on organic milk is a rip off. WalMart actually sells organic milk at a better price. What I am trying to say is if you're bad at math, bring your calculator. It wouldn't kill you to browse the weekly ads for other grocery stores before you come here either. You might even save yourself some gas in the process. I know this is the closest Sam's to where I live in Chicago. I originally got a membership because social media pointed out that Sam's was having a promotion on new membership pricing. Cook County is also a nightmare with gas pricing. I figured, if I am at least using my membership for the cheap gas, I am going to break even by the end of the year. I was disappointed when I finally decided to use my coupon I was awarded which was supposed to reimburse me in groceries, for the cost of the membership. It turned out that I was limited to certain product purchases. Only the first $30 was toward anything I wanted. I spent a good 30-40 minutes walking around the warehouse. I was already exhausted from working all day. Plus it was Sunday evening and I was hoping the place wouldn't be that busy. I was definitely wrong. The devoted Sam's Club shopper is definitely someone I share absolutely nothing in common with. I found myself constantly stuck behind someone with a cart that was walking at the pace of a slug, with no way to get around them. I swear there was always someone that needed to get to where I wanted to look, only they weren't in any kind of hurry. I wanted in and out. Now that I am exhausted and frustrated, I bring my groceries to the cashier, only to find that they have no idea of how to process my coupon. I was danced back and forth between the clueless ladies at the register, and the laziest management employees at the customer service desk. Once they fixed my problem with the coupon, I was sent back to the registers. I did this 3 times. The management staff couldn't be bothered with ringing out my groceries. Once I realized that I wasn't going to be getting a coupon amounting to the full cost of my membership, I deliberately placed half of my groceries, which required refrigeration, into the carts that were already full of returns. Now I barely had any groceries for purchase, yet the management staff still sent me back to the registers once they figured out what the sign-on promotion actually offered in terms of a discount. The club was about to close. I was the last person to ring out. At the register again, the ladies now could not figure out how to give me the $30 credit. I went to 2 more registers. Apparently each time the credit was attempted, it messed up the computer. At the last register, the Asian guy helped me out by just creating a gift certificate for $30 so he could turn around and apply it to my sale. I wish I remembered names, but I was in the middle of work and school at the time and couldn't be bothered with bantering with their corporate office regarding the management staff that is employed here. The last guy that helped me was just a regular employee. He should be the one running the place. I'll be back, but mostly for gas, or when I am mentally prepared to transcend the individuals that shop and work here. read more

Do NOT take your car to this sams club. One of the workers was beyond rude, talked down to me, and brushed me off. I had just spoken to Anthony who said he could do my tires today. His coworker, Snow, said it would be delayed, made me go get a receipt that was unnecessary, and was so off putting I will never take my car back to them. I talked to a family member about it and described Snow to her, and she said she had a similar experience with him in December. I'm not sure if it's because there's only 2 guys in that department or what is making Snow act this way but it's offensive. I drive +12 miles past this location to the Sam's in Addison. Why, first point you rarely find anybody to help you find something as things seem to be stocked in different locations quite frequently. I saw a complaint about customer service not answering the phone which I totally agree with. The inventory is poorly maintained compared to other Sam's even during this "Supply Chain Crisis". I am considering shift to Costco as they are just as far as Addison for me, but most people I talk to find Costco more suitable for their needs. Last point, I hate the forced auto membership renewal. I want to decide, so the alternative is call some 800 number and go through the minutia to have the auto renewal stopped, which lasts until the next renewal. read more

Sams Club Oakton Avenue Des Plaines Very disappointed in the service I've received from Sams club In Des Plaines. I was driving recently after I took my vehicle to be serviced and out of no where my entire tire came off of my vehicle! When the officer arrived on the scene, he showed me there were no lug nuts on my wheel! This is the second time this has happened after leaving my vehicle in the care of these workers! I've been asking to see a video of the day my vehicle was worked on, and every employee , including the manager, (Adrian) had avoided me every since . I've visited better clubs. I can't stand rouge carts in the parking lot and this club has plenty of those. The store seems well stocked, which is a plus and the restroom was very clean. Same layout as any other Sam's. Visited during the evening and there were plenty of cashiers on hand, given the time of day. If I had to choose between this club and the one in Evanston, I'd pick this one. read more
