My boyfriend uses an app to price out gas and 99% of the time, Costco gasoline is the best price in the area. For me, it's the convenience of the location as it is down the road from my gym, the high school, etc. The pump area is usually clean and working well and I do not fret too much about the security of my information at Costco: gas. I like having a garbage can so I can empty out my daughter's stuff while I fill up. The staff is attentive and I see them help others with the gas, receipts, etc. time and time again. Sometimes patrons drive crazily around the pumps, but that is not to any fault of the facility. I appreciate having affordable gas so close! read more

Costco consistently has lower gas prices than neighboring competitors, so worth the extra travel time if filling up. Our rental car came with a close to empty gas tank, so needed to find fill up. We found the nearest Costco warehouse, and was very pleasantly surprised at how there were no lines...we had our choice of pump. This location consists of 3 islands, with the first two having 3 pumps and the far right island having 2: meaning 16 nozzles can be dispensing at the same time. The POS process was exactly the same as in other locations: tap your Costco credit card which does double duty of validating your membership and authorizing your credit card. You choose your grade (only two choices of either 87 or 93 octane), pump. 3.66 a gallon. Didn't need to stop inside the warehouse store itself, so we were quickly on our way. read more

The lines here tend to be nil to moderate unless there is a weather scare. A couple years ago they stopped posting gas prices on their big sign as they couldn't keep up with multiple daily price changes. Consistently (not always) the best gas prices around! Normally, Costco gas is about 25 cents less than gas stations in the neighborhood. But there is a price to pay for the really good prices - the lines are almost always long. Be prepared to wait 5-10 minutes. And don't forget your Costco membership card. You need to swipe it before you can buy gas. Also, Costco has extra long hoses on their pumps so you can go in any lane, regardless of which side you normally pump gas on. A tip for those who are contemplating a Costco membership or Sam's. I realize the difference between Costco and Sam's Club isnt just the price of membership. The products at Costco is actually bigger (if thats possible) than Sam's, so even though the prices at Sam's looks cheaper, if somewhat evens out as the product is smaller. For example, a 5lb bag of whey protein runs about $40 at Costco (great price, horrible flavor) while the one at Sam's runs for $30, but the bag is only 4.5lbs. Also, they don't carry a lot of variety in terms of the product, but that can be appealing for some people -- it overwhelms them less with so many choices. For example, they only carry one flavor of Dorritos, which is Nacho Cheese, so if you're looking for "Cool Ranch" or the other bazillion flavors Dorritos has to offer, your best bet is to go to Wally World. I decided on Costco primarily for the location -- its only a few minutes from where I'm at. Best/worst time to go is during the weekends. You can get your tummy full from sampling everything, but you'll get bowled over by people beelining to the free sample stations. I remember growing up in the city where the family would go to our local Dominick's for lunch (yes, we were dirt poor) by eating samples. Ah, the memories. This Costco is pretty well-kept and clean. The staff is friendly, even the ones behind the "Customer Service" counter and the selection of items is OK. They also have Costco Gas which is pretty cool as its generally 5-10cents cheaper than anything else around. From what I hear (not confirmed) their "Kirkland gas" comes from the same refinery as BP gas. The only downside is that Coscto gas does follow the Costco store hours, so if you're looking for gas late or early in the day, you might drive to a gas station with their gas pumps padlocked shut. BATHROOM REVIEW: Weirdly, I have yet to try out their bathrooms. I wonder if its "Coscto-ized" too; giant urinal cakes, toilets/urinals fit for 5 people at a time? Everyone loves Costco - and this is one of the best! Large, well-stocked, friendly staff, always yummy free samples. I caught one employee attempting to guide people to form a line. When one man walked away, she stopped him and said that she knew he'd been waiting awhile, and he had first dibs on the food. Wow! I walked in intending to buy one item. When we left, our cart was filled with $150 of stuff. They may be impulse purchases, but you can't pass up such great deals. My hubby found his beloved veal chops, along with a $20 warm spring coat. I didn't need anything from Costco but wanted to walk around the store to compare it to the ones in the Los Angeles area. It was nice to see the regional differences between the stores. In Los Angeles, we don't have to worry about anything when it comes to cold weather but here, they are preparing for winter and it was interesting to see all the coats and jackets they had out. The store was clean and well merchandised. They didn't have as many sample stations as we have in the stores we frequent in LA. They had a few but then you don't have a gang of people swarming the sample stations as they never tried waffles before. Good move Costco, good move! read more

I think that this Costco is the saving grace of what used to be a really great mall in the 80's and early 90's. I think that seriously it is the only reason why Randhurst Mall is still open. I was really shocked at how empty this location was. It was a joy to shop in peace and not have to wait in lines that were 20 deep. The one thing that I have to note is that though they offer the same products as most Costco's do..their layout was completely different from the majority that I have visited. I don't have a membership, but my friend does so I have been here a few times with her. I can say that this place is leaps beyond Sam's for price and variety. I have come away with a cartload each visit. Of note this last trip...batteries. People please don't buy your batteries at Walgreens or CVS. The price for duracells here (I bought AA, C and Ds) is amazing in comparison. Same for antibacterial wipes like Lysol or Clorox, napkins and other paper goods. Nutrigrain, etc. You get the point. Costco - why do I love thee??? I love going to my Mt. Prospect Costco - there's always parking close by - not like the one in Glenview or Schaumburg - dealing with the people running in front of you when you are trying to park - it's so freakin' annoying. This Costco is very neat like the other reviews mentioned and the people that work there... they genuinely seem to love working there - it's the same people and my experience has been that all of the Costco employees that I've encountered are very helpful and friendly. What's particularly remarkable is the pharmacy - they are outstanding - the main pharmacist tracked down some meds for me.... called me on my cell phone to keep me posted of status and went above and beyond. Overall, a very good Costco as Costco's go. This one HAS self service which makes me a big fan - I can usually get through the Costco's with self serve a lot quicker than those without it. Every Costco should have these lanes (unless of course if there's a local regulation that prohibits them). The only thing that keeps me from giving this 5 stars is they do seem to have that pesky person at the front asking to see your membership card here a little more frequently than other Costco's. Seems like a useless requirement when you must swipe or scan your card in order to purchase items there. Came to Costco for a few clothing items had no shopping cart. Went through checkout and the cashiers transferred the customer's items in front of us to another cart. They put our items in his old cart. I told my son to take the items out of the cart. The cashier assistant then asked us to take the cart to the front if we didn't want it. I replied "I don't want that cart it has not been sanitized". She then immediately got an attitude and said something to the affect of "Jesus Christ" as she huffed and puffed. Excuse me? I did not have cart when I came into Costco. I don't work for Costco so I should not have to put the cart away for you. My husband immediately came and asked the lady if she had a problem. If there is a line, it can go pretty quick. Luckily this Costco is about 10 minutes away from home and I have learned the best times to go there which are during the day. I'm lucky I'm retired, so no problem. The assistant on the premises tries to keep the lines moving. People are polite and it is the cheapest gas around. You know I really like this Cosco. I go to the one in Schaumburg, Oak Brook, and now the one in Randhurst. They'll have something different the offer. The reasons and like Randhurst now is it's really easy to get in and out of when you're in a hurry. I feel like most times when you go to Costco you're expecting to be in line for a good 1525 minutes. But that may seem like exaggeration I'm not quite sure it really is. They deafly have long lines. Eliza Randhurst such a pretty short and move very quickly. The entrance into the gas station might not be the easiest especially if you're going southbound but, The lines really move quick there. And I know cause he can't do anything about that this is the speed of service on the individuals but for whatever reason that Randhurst location just moves quick. And even bonuses this usually that the 5 to 10 cents cheaper than Schaumburg which is the closest one around me. Overall I do this five out of five maybe a 4 1/2 out of five misses us that option we would rather go to a five. read more

I bought a computer 2 years ago and was promised amen I bought the extended warranty that I was covered for 3 years after the manufactures warranty. I checked twice to make sure and was told the same thing. Sadly I was lied to and now I have no warranty that I paid $70 for because the warranty starts the same day you but it so it's really only a 2 year warranty what a joke. We've been coming to costco for the past 10 years and have been satisfied with the food and service. Today out of curiosity we decided to weigh all the prepackaged meets and fish and realized they've been over charging us on all of them! no wonder they don't have scales anywhere in the store. Most of the products were over weighed by .5 pounds including the packaging, and like the fish we bought being around $8.00 per pound, that's close to $4.00 they over charged us for that one product, and there were many other products like it too adding up to quite a sum. Let me start off by saying I'm in my early twenties and see no use for a Costco membership, except to buy contacts. I use my parents' membership for this purpose only. I had ordered contacts and was going in to pick them up on a weekday morning. I've been yelled at before for not having the owner of the membership card in my presence while at Costco, so this time I brought my dad with me. As I was getting ready to pay for my purchase at the optical shop, the optical manager, Joe, asked to see the membership card. I showed him my dad's card and then proceeded to pay with my debit card. Joe strictly told me I wasn't allowed to pay with MY card but it had to be the membership holder's debit/credit card. My dad informed the optical manager that he was okay with me using my own card to pay. My dad and I also have the same last name and live in the same household, so it baffled me he was being so particular. So, at this point, I was getting frustrated because I've never been stopped before from using my own money. I told the optical manager that I had purchased contacts this way before and no one seemed to have a problem with it. The optical manager then told me that since I'm over 18, I should have my own card anyway. And he was very rude about it. (Sorry sir, I have thousands of dollars in college debt. I can't afford to have my own card) My dad ended up paying with his card. Nonetheless, I won't be returning there for any purchases. I think Costco needs to reevaluate their membership conditions. A family membership should be an option, or being able to put another person's name on the card should be an option. It's ridiculous to me that my dad was told he couldn't pay any way he chooses. Then there was the time I went in with my mom's membership card to pick up a a few things for her while she waited in the car because she wasn't feeling well. The cashier called management because I wasn't the cardholder and the manager confiscated my mom's card and said she would get it back if she wanted to make a purchase. So, my wife and I get here on a Sunday AM. This is the busiest day as you can imagine. The police are barricading off the store but it looks like some people are still coming and going. We ask a female police officer what is going on and she tells us that they have an unknown device that may be explosive in the store so they are not allowing cars to drive up near. When my wife asks if they are closed, the officer says that the store refuses to close against their advice. I could figure that it is nothing and the store doesn't want to close on a busy AM. I know this but if the police recommend that you close then you should probably close. What if the FDA recommends that they don't sell a particular product? Will they go against their advice? Can I trust the meat? I don't really know anymore. I can't trust Costco, I know that. I am not risk adverse but do I knowingly put my family into any danger? No. Reevaluatting our membership here. The products that we need are hit or miss. Sometimes they have them in stock, sometimes they don't. Costco gets a lot of positive press for paying their employees well but between this incident and them ripping off the name Tiffany's. I am pretty sure that we will not be renewing our membership. The gas is only cheaper on the low-grade. If you need medium-high grade, it isn't cheaper. The free samples get on my nerves, get them out of the aisle. read more

This location is a lot less crowded than others, and it also has a gas station on site. It's not uncommon for the gas station to be 15 cents a gallon cheaper than other gas stations nearby. The staff here seems pretty well managed and seem to be having fun while they're working- it creates a pretty good atmosphere. Yes, I know we're talking about a warehouse club here- any semblence of good atmosphere is very much visible. The meat department alone is a reason to join as a member- lean, well-trimmed steaks, chops, and burgers that can cost significantly less than supermarkets. Sometimes it's a bit too much meat, but occasionally they have some slightly smaller, more managable packages. I also recommend repacking the meat when you get home so it's easier to use what you need. read more

The lines were short - granted this was a weekday but the Costco by Damen and Clybourn has really long lines any day of the week. Worst Costco ever. Customer service=zero service . Our last 2 visits there were nightmares. Got insulted by Ourshina the cashier ,the supervisor and Customer service lady Kathy . The visit before my sister got hit hard with one of the shopping carts ,pushed by Costco member ,they let this person go , ask us to file accident report ,and on the second visit when I asked what happened with the report thay said if my sisiter didn't need a doctor to get medical help then she is fine and they are not going to do anything but what if she eventually ends up in the hospital, then what ? She has been experiencing some back pains lately, possibly because of the accident, and I guess we might need to get not juat a doctor's opinion but lawyer's as well. Especially with such a sucky Comstumer service and taking only Visa and Debit cards ,they will go underwater sooner than they think . Way to go Cosco . Do not wish good luck .
