I won't comment on what it was like so many years ago. I haven't gone out of my way to return since. This time I had a reason. UPS tried to make a delivery that required a signature. It was a Saturday, and I wasn't home. UPS left a notice on my door that I could pick it up - and the note had an address but not the business's name. I got in my car and put the address in my GPS. The endpoint looked familiar, but I couldn't think of anything that way other than the convenience store. It took a few minutes to drive around the location before I saw the UPS Drop-off sign next to their door. Once I entered, a man was reviewing the stock on the shelves. He greeted me, and I told him why I was there. To my surprise, he rolled his eyes as if to say, "not another one of these." I gave him the ticket, and he walked back to a table where they were a few small packages. He said mine wasn't there. After questioning him for a few minutes trying to understand why it was missing (thinking it might have been stolen), he said it would arrive on Tuesday if it showed up. I'm not sure why he couldn't tell me that right away. I thought he wanted to avoid dealing with anyone using his UPS service. It was either too challenging for him, or UPS needed to pay more to be worth his time. I was so put off by the experience that I went online to UPS and redirected the delivery back to my home. It's disappointing that UPS started to charge for redelivery - $10. But I will not go back into his store again.

There is never a wait due to all of the pumps they have - lots of them. The Pride of Palatine is their convenience store - it even has a big selection of wines, beer, and liquors. They also have a restaurant, Urban Counter, which is very good. If you sell something on Facebook Marketplace, this is a great location for a public meet up.

The staff works very hard, and does a good job keeping on top of the lines/checkouts. Worst part of shopping has always been "waiting", and thankfully, usually the wait here is not too bad. That said, they do get stampeded with giant crowds sometimes. Not sure if there is any solution to the insane crowds. Its hard to know when they will be normal busy or crazy busy. I dont blame them for the crowds though, as their aisles are pretty wide and allow good flow, their cashiers are generally very fast, and, if they see a line, they try to add more folks to the registers to keep checkout moving. Overall, I am quite pleased with them and will continue to do most of my shopping there.

Today I was passing through the town of Elgin, Illinois. I stopped at this Speedway to grab a beverage and a couple other miscellaneous items. I travel a lot for work and will be in law school in the spring. I have a minor in hospitality management. I spent years bartending and serving, managing, and also working in retail. Customer service is very important to me, I believe it is a true art. What Tina did today was incredible and I was almost floored. After I grabbed my items I walked to the register, two employees were standing behind the register and two guest were in front of me. One employee seemed to be responsible for cashing the customer out, while the other perhaps was stocking items. When It became my turn to pay I was just standing there, no one said a word to me. Internally I was about to get frustrated because the two employees were standing right there and had just assisted the other guest. Also, I have trained and mana hundreds of people in customer service, a simple "I'll be right with you," goes a long way. Before I could think about it any further I see an employee who perhaps was in the back office area look at me and immediately hop up and come right up to me to for assistance and to cash me out. This is who I now know to be Tina. She didn't hesitate, think twice, or continue to do busy work when she saw a guest/customer ready to check out. The natural urgency and attention to detail was incredible, and truly appreciated. To make it even better, there wasn't a long line forming, and there were two workers standing right there. But that didn't matter to Tina, being a professional, doing her job to perfection, and ensuring the guest/customer was promptly taken is what mattered most. I could feel this deep in my soul because I lived it and loved helping others. In an hour of life where most people do not want to do their job or do the bare minimal to get by, professional customer service such as Tina exhibited is very hard to come by. So I want to say thank you Tina for being great, and doing your job great as well. I must mention that because of this great customer service I became a speedway reward member for the first time ever. The little things make the big things, and are actions have a ripple effect into our tomorrows and into eternity! Thank you TINA for being you! This is my local Sam's club gas station. It's located off…read moreof Route 53. I like that it's near by a stop sign and stop light so you don't have to really fight to get through. This place is well organized with construction cones divided and clear arrows where to 6 lines fill up line about 12 working gas pumps. This place gets busy at high peak times rush hour so I try to come here early morning weekends or later in the evenings during the week. There's a helpful attendant if needed. Make sure you know where your gas tank side of your car is before you go in line or else you might have to park very close to the pump to be able to pull the pumper on the other side of your car where your gas tank is. Yeah it's doable but you have to stand there and keep pulling until you are done filling your gas tank. Basically you use swipe your Sam's membership card then use whatever credit card you have as they take most card brand visa, Mastercard, etc. or easier if you have a Sam's credit card too. There's also a Sam's app as well. I'm an authorized user of my mom's Sam's account so we can both benefit it both of our cars! Their gas prices here are amazing during these gas price hikes... like around $0.80-$1.00 cheaper per gallon!! Today I filled up $4.79 and across the street it was $5.69!! How crazy is that! They have all three types of gas sold here, regular, premium, and Diesel. Overall, if you don't mind waiting in line for more affordable gas, then come by here. Your wallet will thank you for it!
