Ever since I was a kid my family has gone out of their way to drive into the city and get a big stack of menich and a few different pies for breakfast / lunch on the weekend. They're delicious and perfect every time! One time I was working a catering gig up near Boston and they had spinach pies from Sam's brought up there for the graduation party because they love them so much. Best ever Lebanese bakery. If you love pumpkin seeds; the best to crack open and taste these succulent seeds.

I visited the bakery on August 26. Most of the workers had masks on, with their noses open. For cleanness, I can only give this place a one star. I ordered 2 dozen Zaatar (Manaish) bread, and one pack of pita bread. After paying about $38, when asked to put all my purchases in a paper bag, the young lady behind the counter wasn't happy. She threw the 2 packs of the Zaatar bread in a paper bag. I asked for few more plastic bags, and she said in an angered voice that I had to pay for them. Cleanness and customer service lacks in this bakery. I would never go back or recommend this place to anyone. I am Lebanese, but my experience at this supposedly Lebanese bakery was far from being the usual Lebanese hospitality. read more

First, the products are fantastic. Broccoli, chorice, spinach and all the open faced breads are delicious. The meat pies are seasoned with clove and other Lebanese seasons so they take some getting used to. Second, the bakery is exactly as it should be-brisk service, no frills, no red carpet and no niceties... In Fall River it's considered charmingly old world and we like it that way. Where else do you see the pies coming out of the rotating ovens onto boards that have been used forever. Grab lots of napkins, get your pies, go to the car and lean over the console so you don't drip on your clothes. I hope Sam's Bakery never changes. read more

I was just thinking about their little pies. The spinach and beef are my two favorites. I've had them at parties, a friend took me there and I couldn't stop eating them. I don't eat a ton of breads, but have been very happy with what I've tried at Sam's. The smaller pies you can order for parties are a great and easy finger food if you order in advance. But don't let the unassuming facade fool you: Sam's is a mighty, memorable force in Spindle City. And fans come from far and wide to stand in the cramped, crowded entry of Sam's to claim their own slice of paradise. Sam's is run by a family of hardworking, no nonsense folks who hustle all morning long to fulfill orders called out at the counter at high speed. It's a cash-only establishment, but at $1.25 per meat or spinach pie, don't bother with the ATM: just lift up your couch cushions and head over to Sam's. From your place in line, little sardine, you have a few precious moments to gaze at the wondrous middle eastern offerings on the surrounding shelves to your heart's content, but when you're up next in line...you'd best know what you want. Indecisiveness is not tolerated, on either side of the counter. I still love those delectable meat pies, and once in a blue moon I swing by Sam's when I'm in the neighborhood. You wouldn't believe how fragrant those spices make your car - by the time you get home, your car WILL smell like Sam's. I am not above bribing others to deliver me a dozen. I am not above eating them all by myself. But at my age, I know how to destroy the evidence with a little soap and water on my paws. If you have to eat anything in FR, this should be one of those things. 1) Maneesh (or Mna'eesh) just about the most delicious flatbread I can imagine. Their Middle Eastern specialties, mostly savory, have 'em lined up around the corner on many-a-morning. The primary draw for this reviewer would definitely have to be their spinach pies ($1.25). Soft, pita-like shells are folded into split-top, triangular purses, which envelop delicately-seasoned, roughly-chopped greens that pack a marvelous bite - and yet still retain a slight crunch. A mild hint of lemon is offset by subtly-fragrant pinches of what tastes like sumac and/or allspice (I always forget to ask and most times it can be too busy to get a word in beyond my order). I usually get somewhere in the ballpark of 10, eat one on the walk out, two on the way back west and then freeze the rest - they bounce back smashingly - much like the resilient will of the working class citizens who have kept this place thriving over the years. When I got the recommendation to eat here from a local and then read the reviews, it immediately became lunch the next day. Meat pie with yogurt is awesome, open face spinach and cheese the same. The menish was interesting as its a sour flavor rarely seen in these parts however needs another dish to eat with it for it to shine. Of course it has a five star average!! Who would ever give it less?? Sam's bakery is the best part about Fall River, and the best place for pies in the world. The inside clearly hasn't changed since the 70's, and I doubt the prices have changed that much, with each pie costing around 1.25. I usually get like 6 extra in addition to my order just to be totally, totally safe. For me, Sam's is like a drug. Meat Pies, Spinach Pies, Chourico Pies, Open Meat, Open Cheese, had them all. Bring plenty of cash with you because you will want to order everything once you get inside. Seeing the pies come fresh out of the oven kind of gets you all warm inside. This makes you forget how many you really "need" and you just start ordering large amounts of food (Well I do anyway). Amazing! I would rate this as the best food on the planet. These pies are delicious and incredibly unique to anything I've ever had. I have brought these to events and anyone that tries them loves them instantly. Then I become the designated pie lady, where I must bring them to future events. And the best part, they are incredibly inexpensive. I added a menu to the photos. My personal favorites are the broccoli, the open spinach, menich, and best of all the sweet sesame. The menich is the classic Sam's bread with unique savory spices. The sweet sesame has the Sam's bread with honey, sugar, cinnamon, and sesame seeds. Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of sesame seeds, but on this it's delicious. If it's your first time going... buy one of each to find your favorites. They are cheap enough! read more
