Just moved up the street and heard the subs were phenomenal here. On street parking. Walked in and ordered there. I used a credit card so definitely not cash only anymore. Bought a small meatball sub with cheese and a small Italian sub with everything and then 1 cannoli. Really liked the meatball sub. Sauce was ok. Not the best. Not the worst. Good amount of meatballs. Italian could have had more cold cuts in it. Was alright. Cannoli was delicious and fresh tasting. Service was ok. She seemed impatient with me when I was ordering. No line behind me either. This is very offputting to me. Didn't wait long and it was ready. Prices are excellent. I'll go back to try more but I'll order online from now on. 3.5 stars. read more

It's been a while since visiting Marzillis Bakery in Fall River. I first heard about it, many years ago, on a TV show called "Emeril Visits Home." Yes that Emeril. He is from Fall River, MA. . On his visit home one stop was at Marzillis and more or less gave it a BAM. Not being too far from there I decided to give it a try ... and I was hooked. Prices are reasonable and on my list it is in the top three sub shops that I have been too. Trying to stay away from carbs and sodium has limited how often I eat this type of food ... it was well worth the splurge. There is very limited seating ... probably most orders are to go. Quality really went down alot with new ownership. Veggies pockets include stale lettuce and tomato. Italian grinders are messy, hurried, low on meats, cheese, veggies, sauce and generally suck. Subway is better. It's just unbelievable that this Fall River icon for so many years has been ruined. I'll have to switch to the shop across the street I guess. Disgusted and disappointed. read more

I walked out. Went in and asked about pizza- the cashier had no idea what to do and got what I presume to be a manager/or owner. Either way, she was extremely curt/brief/rude. She proceeded to explain "the rules and how it works" to me for a few seconds before walking away. Everything I tried to order they were out of or didn't think they had or didn't know they made (I ordered directly off the menu). This is one of those spots that exists because it has for a long time and there is loyalty in the neighborhood- not a place that actually does something that you go out of your way for and I can say that based on what I saw others receive and what was present in their refrigerators which...they weren't even aware of. read more

Fall River is no stranger to great comfort food. In fact you could probably find a decent bite to eat on most of the major streets in town. Fall River is home to some of the best Pierogie around. There's an amazing Chow Mein sandwich in every neighborhood and honest... the Portuguese bakery is KING in Fall River. There is the amazing and affordable Meat Pies of Sam's Bakery and you can't talk about amazing bakery food without mentioning Barcelos. Well Marzilli's goes right in that category. An amazing bite of food for cheap... Known for their bread, Marzillis' Bakery is more like a Sub Shop, than an actual bakery. In fact.... other than a few cookies there isn't a bakery case to be seen. No, it seems like Marzillis has opt. to be more of a Sandwich shop with a lot of "Pizza Place" options. First thing you smell when you walk in is a very rich tomato sauce. That should set your expectations about what you're in for. Their bread should have a little section all it's own because. It isn't traditional Sub Rolls that I can find everywhere. In fact, you're not going to find a sub roll like this... pretty much anywhere. It has a chew of an italian bread with the crust of a Portuguese roll (POP as we locals call it). But it is dense! It is a HEAVY bread that is made to stand up to any toppings or sauce you could throw at it. In fact... the bread screams for extra toppings and condiments. Because it is SOOOO thick... None of this is a bad thing. In fact it makes Marzillis bakery's prices that much more impressive. I got a medium meatball sub (which was like $7.50)... Their medium is large everywhere else which leads me to question.... how large is the large? The sub I got was no joke! lots of sauce and Mozz with about 4 meatballs. The meatballs are very "breadcrumby" which means that the texture is well... not extremely meaty. The flavor is very good and the sub NEEDS extra sauce but... it was a fantastic sub for the price. We sampled a Chorizo and Chips Sub and this one was fantastic. Usually Chorizo is a Portuguese (spanish depending on who you ask) sausage that is made with a little spice and lots of garlic and paprika. It is a staple of the area however, I have never had Chorizo sliced like lunch meat before. Large pieces (sandwich pepperoni or salami size) wrapped around french fries and cheese... it was perfect. A heaping helping of hot peppers and mustard and my food journey was complete. I very much enjoyed Marzilli's Bakery. It is interesting and a fun destination. The service was adequate. Not really friendly, not rude... just "get your food and get out" type vibe. The woman who took my order was no nonsense and basically got us taken care of and then turned her head to the next customer without a "Have a good day" or anything like that. If the place was busy I could have understood it... but there was one other person in the place and they were waiting for their food. So, while this is NOT a negative part... it is what it is... I have to deduct a little bit for the cold shoulder... however, their food is very good... The owner can only do so much to insure the staff is friendly... and you never know what the girl behind the counter may have been going through. *summary* Marzillis Bakery is a fantastic spot to grab a quick sandwich. Their prices are absolutely outstanding for what you get and if I'm being 100% honest... I will probably be going there next time I'm in the area to just sample more of their menu. There is a reason places like this stand the test of time. Their product speaks for itself and truly... I hope they are around for generations and generations because this is a staple of Fall River... and what an honor to experience such a beautiful part of Fall River's History. read more

Very disorganized when ordering and the chicken in the grilled chicken sub was some kind of microwaved, previously frozen, mass produced fo-chicken. Not fresh, not great. So I decided to go here since I was in the area and always heard good things. First of all the pricing is great for the portion size which is the biggest suns I've seen anywhere in the area. That being said, my wife got an Italian which was delicious and I got the Thanksgiving sub which was... a little rough..the stuffing was disgusting. Weird texture and flavor which completely overpowered the rest of the ingredients. I had to scoop out all the stuffing and still, all though much better, still was overpowering the sand which so I couldn't enjoy it. $15 wasted. It was edible but just wasn't all that enjoyable. I would suggest NOT buying the thanksgiving sun. read more

This place was okay. I was not impressed. Meat was very good quality but the bread was lacking in texture and the toppings did not do much for it either. There just wasn't enough FLAVOR in anything. I don't like getting sandwiches that I have to add stuff to later (like hot sauce) just to get it to grab the attention of my taste buds. As far as value? meh. I paid $7.22 for a medium Thanksgiving Sub. It wasn't huge, about 10" (not 12"). I've had much better at multiple other sandwich shops. The staff left me feeling uneasy about the sandwich making process. They just didn't seem to have it together and they asked multiple customers multiple times to repeat their order... after they ordered it and had been waiting. I understand trying to get it right the first time but they were just unorganized and made it very obvious. I've been ordering here for years. Absolute terrible customer service this morning. I called to place an order for a wedding. (Smaller order) right at 7am when the restaurant opened. The girl who took my order was very sweet, and I informed her I did not have my credit card on me(as their policy is to take a card for any orders over $50). Now, as I have ordered for many corporate events that have been well over $100, and not needed a card I just simply explained I did not have my card on me at the time, and she went to to talk to her supervisor. The women did not mute the phone, and they began speaking loudly... and the other woman actually yelled at the girl who took my order, and told her that she needed to get my card or "her a** would be the one in trouble" the woman then took the phone and said "hi, how can I help you?" In the rudest voice ever. I'm sorry marzillis, I'm not entirely sure who you have been hiring lately, but I would train them a bit better on professionalism. I'm disgusted with the way I was spoken to, and will make sure to share this experience with others. read more

Woop woop, best Italian sub, ever? Yup, it's in that category at least. Their squishy bread matched with meats, cheese and peppers are just perfect. The downside is that you HAVE to tell them what you want on it. Lady at the counter asks, "do you want anything on it?", to which I replied, "what usually comes on it?". Her response? "Nothing". OK, so maybe you have to spell it out for them. I got mine with banana peppers, lettuce, oil and vinegar and it was straight up delicious.
