I heard of this place on the radio and just happened to be destined for Fall River. Since then, I've been here five times, and have tried several things on the menu. The food is tasty, simple, and extremely inexpensive. Some of the items in the refrigerator are marked up really high, so be careful. Walked in, stood in line,(no social distancing) waited until it was my turn. Heard "whose next", answered "that's me, where is the wheat germ?" Got pushed from behind while a rude lady dumped a ton of stuff on the counter. I again said "I'm next, can you tell me where the wheat germ is?" The response from behind the counter was "You have to wait your turn I can only do one thing at a time and I'm waiting on this lady now!" If I didn't have need the wheat germ I would have thrown my bread order at her and walked out. I waited until the rude line jumper finished her order got my wheat germ and left. Always went here early in the morning as a visiting nurse-oh, about 12 years ago-grabbed about 1/2 dozen meat + spinach pies to have for my lunch, in my car near a Fall River park! I'm a 64 year old man that has been going to Sams since I was 15 . In 1990 I moved to Fla. and every time I go back up north , my very first stop is Sams Bakery on Flint street. I get about 1 or 2 dozen meat pies and other things so I can have meat pies all week . Then when its time to leave I get 2 dozen ( cold ) meat pies to bring back to Fla. If you order them to travel they will have them wrapped and cold , because if you travel with hot ones they will get to soft to hold .So I thank them very much for giving this info to me . So for my very first review, I had to pick Sam's Bakery and give it major props as it has been making my weekend mornings for as long as I can remember. Sam's specialty is Lebanese meat pies, which you can also get with a variety of fillings including, spinach, meat and yogurt, and of course chourico. They also have open faced pies which are equally delicious. Sam's is open bright and early, and the line form right away. I always have the meat pies for breakfast, as do many Fall River natives, but they are perfect any time of the day. Sam's is only down one star, because they close pretty early too. The pies are reasonably priced, but make sure you get a bunch as each pie is a single serve. For those who have no idea what I am talking about, Lebanese meat pies are soft, doughy, pita-like triangles of delicousness, and while a few places in Fall River offer them, Sam's is hands down the best. If you are every traveling through, make sure you stop at Sam's; there isn't quite anything like a Lebanese meat pie from Sam's and once you have one you will be hooked. read more

When I was a kid growing up in Fall River, I just thought that Sam's Lebanese spinach and meat pies were the way all Lebanese pies were. I took the deliciousness for granted. Only when I moved away did I slowly realize that nothing else ever measured up. I went to various bakeries... sure, some were good, but overall they tended to be heavy, doughy, or greasy... or just not delicious. I remembered the pies of my childhood... could I have elevated them in memory to an unlikely and unrealistic status? Could I possibly make them myself? I did a web search for fatayer, and was kinda floored by the results. Everyone was talking about Sam's Bakery in Fall River. Lebanese people were raving about how the pies were better than the ones in Lebanon, or better than the ones made by their grandmothers. Bloggers were waxing romantic about their perfect blend of spices. Cooks were trying to recreate the Sam's recipe... Next time I visited my dad, I insisted that we go back to Sam's. And the pies were everything I remembered. I've renewed the family tradition, and now every time we visit, I ask my dad to bring some. This past weekend, after stuffing my face (4 pies for breakfast? No problem!) I even brought some back in my luggage to NYC, for lunch the next day. If only they had an outpost here! On a practical note, they bake in the morning. A friend recently moved to Fall River and inquired about good food options in the area. I cannot believe I forgot about Sam's Bakery. Sam's is a small, family owned and run Lebanese bakery. They offer a bunch of small "pies" made from folded bread (think softer Syrian wrap-ish) with fillings like spinach, meat, cabbage, Laban (meat and yogurt), or chourico (a Portuguese spicy sausage). They also have "open pies" unfolded with toppings like tomato and feta cheese. They offer other more daring flatbreads like maneesh and sweet sesame too, and all come in at under $2 each, so stock up (they won't last long). Also worth a note is the Syrian bread, which is as fresh as it gets (no dry, falling apart when making a sandwich here). Note: Sam's Bakery is cash and take out only, and keeps early hours. read more

I've been on a Middle Eastern food kick for a while now, and Sam's Bakery has delicious food at an extremely inexpensive price point (less than $2 for a pie). Although Sam's does not have my favorite Lebanese/Syrian pie in the area (that prize goes to a nearby competitor), Sam's is still top notch for the price and you really can't complain. This is one of the top draws for a visit to Fall River for me, the baked goods here are freshly made and you can really taste the difference between what they sell here and grocery store bought. I love sams bakery. This place is amazing the meat pies are so good. My husband loves the menich, an open face spinach an cheese. For me my favorite is the Leban meat pie it has a little yogurt in it which helps with the acidity. The Syrian bread is so good. You can call your orders in. Sam's Bakery has the best Lebanese meat pies in the United States- period. I don't know about Lebanon itself since I've never been there but I can't imagine any meat pie tasting better than Sam's. I've been coming here since I was a kid and I prefer the spinach and chorico pies over the traditional meat ones, but those are amazing too. A bottle of coffee milk, a couple of chorico pies and you've got the perfect Fall River meal. Here is my review and caveat: Sams is sooo good that even if you have the worst wheat and yeast allergy it is worth cheating! No lie. AND...you know you are truly head over heals in love when you let someone know about this place. It is THAT kind of place.
