I have known the family who runs Sam's for over 50 years, since I lived in the area growing up. It was my "job" to get the bread in the morning before elementary school started, since it would be closed after school. Sam's bread was always a staple in my house growing up, Now that I have been away for over 40 years and don't get back to Fall River often, Sam's is one of my 1st stops when I'm there. There is nothing else that compares- anywhere. 5 stars isn't enough. Give it ten! The thin bread is excellent- don't even compare it to the pita you get in the stores- it's in a class of it's own. It is no longer baked by a wood fire, but it is same oven - the quality has not change a bit. The meat pies and spinach pies are like a little piece of heaven in your mouth- savory, but not overpowering. One of each gets eaten in the parking lot before I even start the car to head back to where we stay when visiting the area. Every one talks about the bread, the spinach and the meat pies, but don't forget the maneesh. It's the same dough as the bread, but with spices and sesame seeds pressed into it before baking. It has a hint of lemon in it. If you're anywhere near Fall River, make your way to Sam's. It will not disappoint! read more

Going to Sam's is a unique experience. From the crude mechanized oven to the wooden trays, walking through the door is like being transported to another place and time. They should charge admission just to watch the goings on, it is that entertaining. All of the other reviews are absolutely true. Everything everyone else raved about remains true: perfect meat pies, meat & yogurt pies, ESPECIALLY the spinach pies- the open-faced maneesh, the best Syrian bread. Others forgot to not that you can also buy tabbouleh, yogurt, bulgur of all grain sizes, oil, grape leave freshly stuffed or canned & ready for your recipes, kibbee (Lebanese meatloaf with onions & pinenuts) balls or whole pans, as well as cookbooks, herbs, za'atar (oregano, sesame, & powdered sumac), Lebanese "allspice" mix - and soda & milk. Lunch, breakfast, & if intelligently saved, yr dinner... Remember to pan-toast a refridged spinach or meat pie to crispness again. One of Fall River's hidden gems. Best Lebanese pies you can get! This place is fast paced though! Go in there, and know what you want ahead of time! Don't expect them to wait for you, by the time you walk up to the counter there will be a line formed behind you! Sam's is absolutely the best meat pies ever. just around the corner on the next street is another place that makes them (won't even bother with the name) and they are HORRIBLE tasting. I don't know what kind of addictive additive sam's uses but i've never tasted anything so good! I miss my sunday morning errands always involving the stop at sam's. I think i'm going to have to make the 4 hour rnd trip drive soon so I can get a fix! DEFINITELY buy a couple dozen and put them in your freezer. Often times in life there are not enough words to describe just exactly how you feel about a specific establishment, this is one of those times. I have been visiting Sam's bakery since 1982 at 1 years old in my mother and father's arms. It became a family tradition long before that and long before I came along as my father grew up right behind this building and grew up frequenting. This was back in the days when Sam was still with us and luckily has left his legacy to Dora. Very few times in your life are you able to experience the same exact feeling, flavor and emotion when biting into compulsory creations. After all these years everything is prepared pretty much the same way it did, everything tastes just as it did in the memories that flood my mind and in my heart when consuming delectables from this wonderful place. There are too many to count. This is one of those places that I don't know what I would do if they were ever to not exist. The truth is whenever I need some comfort, a walk down memory lane or in itch that needs to be scratched in the depths of my stomach, Sam's bakery is always there. read more

I love Sam's. I've been going there since meatpies were .15, It's the best breakfast for a weekend morning or just about any morning. My only complaint is that I was overchared on my last visit. It was only 2.50 but that's a couple of meatpies, menich, or 1/4 tray of kibbee. Yeah, I know mistakes happen and if I had bothered to total prior to paying I wouldn't be complaining but since most of their items are priced the same, there is really no excuse on their part. The food is great and the prices very reasonable, but if you have a bald guy with glasses ring you up be careful. read more
