I highly recommend this spot called Samos--they have one of the best breakfasts in the area, and the coffee is solid too. If you're near Woodman and Ventura, come on down and check it out. Alena the best! Thank you!

Virginia A.

Oh man... I don't even know where to start with this review because I have such mixed feeling I really wish my experience had been better Let's start with reservations and parking. Both were pretty easy, even though it's located off Ventura Blvd There's also valet available (I believe it was around $10), which is a nice option. As soon as we arrived, we were seated right away It did seem like there was only one server working that night, though. Everything was okay up until we placed our order... We ordered two ribeye plates with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Shortly after, the server told us they didn't have that dish available but then came back and said the chef could actually make it, so we went ahead and kept our order. We also ordered calamari, a beer, and a soda. The calamari came out first, but the beer didn't arrive until much later basically when our main dishes were already served I then ordered two glasses of wine, and unfortunately, that's where the service really went downhill. The pours were uneven, there was cork in the wine, and the presentation was sloppy. On top of that, the wine didn't arrive until mid-dinner There was also a big discrepancy with our meals. The "ribeye" looked completely different from the last time I visited the presentation was unrecognizable. The main reason I brought my partner here was because I had such a great experience the first time during an event, so this was honestly disappointing. I really wanted to love it again, but this visit just didn't live up to my expectations. Needless to say, the bill came out to around $275 The "ribeye" alone was $83 x2 I have to be honest... the plate did not resemble a ribeye at all. The cut, the presentation everything looked completely off from what you'd expect. On top of that, it tasted like it was steamed rather than grilled, which is definitely not how a ribeye should be prepared (IMO) For that price point, I expected a properly grilled steak with that signature sear and flavor. This just didn't meet the mark. Curious if anyone else has had a similar experience here?

Chicken Shawarma Wrap
Anthony R.

Was looking for somewhere to grab lunch and found this cafe. I got the chicken shawarma wrap with hummus and jalapeños. The wrap was so huge! They definitely stuff it up with all the ingredients. The jalapenos and hummus paired so well with it! I also got a side of fries and they were so fresh and golden with perfect amount of salt/seasoning. The service was awesome here. The server kept coming and refilling my water. There js street parking with meters, so it can sometimes be hard to find parking.

Stop by for a quick lunch with my husband. The place is extremely clean and decorated very nicely. A nice warm atmosphere. Staff were amazing and we were fortunate enough to meet the chef. Who was very friendly and kind. We stared with the Vegetarian falafel plate. Some ice tea and a delicious hazelnut latte. Followed by the Chicken Breast Grilled skewers and half rotisserie chicken with a side of garlic fries. The vegetarian falafel plate was a 10 out of 10! Everything about it was perfection! Both our main dishes were very good and the garlic fries were a winner. I would definitely come back. I think the one thing we would without a doubt order again is the vegetarian falafel plate. Looking forward to coming back and enjoying their dinner menu.

Iced salted caramel Tahini Latte 2/10 (no flavor)

Veryyy expensive but the food was very good. Everything was flavorful. They had a lot of unique options like smoked salmon eggs Benedict which I haven't seen before. The yuka potatoes were the best, perfect flavor and crunch, yummy sauce to dip them in. The only thing I really didn't like was the service. Everyone was nice but it took forever to get seated and forever to get our food, and it felt like others were being served before us even though they arrived after us which I didn't appreciate. Inside was pretty and decorative, they had a clean flowery aesthetic. There was a lot of tables for groups. Pretty dishes too, and their coffee drinks were fancy. They put a cute heart design on one of the drinks. Overall I want to try more because the food is good and see if they continue to make the price worth the quality. The coffee was meh, a regular latte was good compared to what I got.

The brunch here is honestly so good. I got the 2+2 with scrambles eggs and bacon. The eggs were so fully and perfect! It also comes with crispy yukon potatoes. They were a little more brow than I would like but nonetheless, they were amazing and crispy. The aesthetics of this place are also beautiful! Lots of natural light and fresh flowers at every table. Very cute touch. The parking in this area is just horrible, though. If it's not metered, It's permitted. I would still recommend trying it out.

Chilaquiles'

Alright... I owe Samos an apology Came back after my first visit was... let's just say not it (we're talking a solid 2/10). BUT--plot twist of the year--the head chef personally reached out and invited me back. And wow... they didn't just fix it, they went absolutely crazy. This time? 100/10. No exaggeration. The fried chicken sandwich? Ridiculous. The chicken pesto panini? Gone in 3 minutes. But the real plot twist... the chocolate chip pancakes. Listen--I don't even LIKE pancakes like that. But these?? Fluffy, perfect, borderline life-changing. I've never had pancakes like that before. I was lowkey offended I ever doubted them. And then it got even better... Chef Art actually came out of the kitchen to apologize in person for our first visit. Not some quick "sorry guys"--you could genuinely feel it. That alone already flipped everything for me. BUT WAIT--there's more. We're getting ready to pay, I pull my wallet out... and our server Elena and Chef Art go, "Don't worry about it." I'm thinking okay cool, maybe they took off a dish or two... Nope. The ENTIRE check. Covered. Yeah... I just stood there like That level of care, accountability, and hospitality? You don't see that often. Safe to say I'll definitely be back. Huge love to Chef Art and Elena for restoring my faith in second chances--and for absolutely killing it this time Samos, you did your thing.

Delicious!!!!

Loved this place! The decor & ambiance are very welcoming! Our servers, Elena & Lydia provided top notch service & were very friendly & attentive during our entire visit. Elena provided great suggestions & was very familiar w the many menu options. We even had the pleasure of meeting the Chef! He came to our table to check on us, introduce himself & tell us about their tasty dinner menu & hours. The parking is limited so I was happy to find a spot in the back as there are two only 4 spaces, plus one handicapped. I definitely plan on returning as there are so many other tempting options! Overall excellent service, delicious food, tasty tea & matcha & beautiful decor including fresh flowers on every table!

Tahini salted caramel latte

My husband and I usually try a different place for brunch on Saturdays, but this spot was so good we ended up going back the very next weekend! Everything we've had so far has been really great. I ordered the shakshuka both times because I loved it that much, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes both visits too. We also tried the chilaquiles, which were excellent. Overall the food felt high quality and really well made. The coffee was great as well. I had a tahini salted caramel coffee each time we went (one at each brunch a week apart) and it was delicious. It's a unique combo and I wasn't sure what to expect, but it worked really well. The wait staff were attentive without being overbearing, and during our first visit someone who we think may have been the owner came out and checked on us to make sure everything was good, which I thought was a really nice touch. Parking was a little tricky, but honestly the food and service made it worth it. I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu... although it might be hard not to just keep ordering the same things again because they were so good.

Crunchy French Toast'
Loretta A.

My daughter wanted to try this new restaurant for breakfast. I was happy with my breakfast burrito, very tasty and filling, it came with a nice salad on the side. My daughter enjoyed her crunchy French toast and my grandson was a little confused with his puffy pancakes. He said they were too puffy. Very nicely decorated and cute restaurant. The chef came out and that was nice to meet him. He said the dinner menu is really nice and that we should come back. I hope we will!

And this is arguably one of the best soups ever! Called "Borscht" with veggies and beef. Add some sour cream and bread
Jason B.

This is what I love to order all the time it reminds me of my hometown! Delicious Pelmeni + borsch. They also have cakes, coffee, tea, lemonade and even my fav Celsius energy drinks Thanks to the nice girl who was there that day. I don't know the owner and other people who work there but my compliments to u guys. I'm highly recommend this place to my friends Clean, nice atmosphere and chill music

Servers were very nice and sweet, food is good.i tried the wafle with berries and side of bacon. Wafle chrispy and thin and the bacon was a little chewy .bacon is 2 for $7.00 . The only thing throw me off was the restaurant smell.smell of egg everywhere even on the plates and tables.other than that everything was ok.not great Very average .

Omelet
Adam E.

Came for brunch after reading reviews. Chilaquiles weren't worth it. Asked for chicken and was served pork. Wouldn't made a difference though 'cause the sauce was not good and chips were stale. Omelet was mid with nothing extra. $17 omelet that comes with a sprinkle of greens. Coffee was alright. Maybe we ordered the wrong things? Staff also seemed unorganized .

Great kids menu.

I have to prepare myself when I come here & I also prepare my friends (which end up telling me they did not expect it to be THAT Loud, so heads up, it really is.) I usually enjoy the patio here because it is much more quiet (youre able to hear your friends talking to you) & thankfully, it's available, or I'm not sure I would come here. Also, telling your order to the bar tender means that she can't hear you either, which is super fun to just scream at each other back & forth if thats what you're into. They don't have my favorite IPA on draft, but they have some good options for beers. I do love that they carry local brews -- they have mostly STONE, Golden Road & like, one Firestone (which is usually what I prefer.) They have some cocktails, so for girlypops that prefer those, this is a pretty solid place for variety in drink styles & thereby groups of people. I'm not sure if they have a car park in the back, actually, I usually find street parking right away, & there is a crosswalk right near the business if needed.

We've been doing that for a few years now, so that should tell you something right there. Our order is fairly consistent: we each start with a mimosa that comes in a highball glass, so one is usually all we need. Next, we share an order of kimchi biscuits (you get two). So delicious! Packed full of kimchi, bacon and cheddar cheese, it's a nice combo of flavors that play well together. The interior is usually soft and warm, with a nice crunchy crust. Top that with a smatter of the cinnamon butter that it comes with...yum! Our choice of entree varies, anything from avocado toast, to their kale and seaweed salad or any of their other selections they have from their brunch/lunch menu. On this outing, my friend and I both opted for the bibimbap. I opted for the pork bulgogi while my friend got the chicken version. It comes with a generous amount of carrots, zucchini, shiitake mushrooms and bean sprouts, and is topped with a runny, sunny side up egg that serves as an excellent sauce when you mix everything together, along with the gochujang sauce. We upgraded and got it with brown rice in the hot stone bowl. Worth it! The regular bibimbap is good, but when you mix in the crunchy crust that comes from the bottom of the stone bowl, you get an additional texture that makes the dish really stand out. The flavors already come together nicely, and the crunchy bits just enhance the experience. For dessert, we like to share the "lemon pie", which is actually a scoop of lemon gelato that comes in a glass that also includes graham crackers, topped with toasted marshmallows. A nice way to end the meal. And the staff! We usually either have Justin or Ann as our server, but everyone there is super friendly and helpful. They are consistently good at checking up on you and making sure you have everything you need. Just another 5 star reason of why we keep coming back!

It's super close to me, parking wasn't too difficult, and the space delivered immediately -- dim red lighting, cozy and moody, perfect for a night out solo. They had a Passover specials menu that looked amazing. I was tempted by the open-faced Hillel sandwich with matzo, wasabi butter, apple, wine reduction, and pine nuts. The smoked brisket with Coca-Cola curry also looked great when it came out for the couple next to me -- until I overheard them say the meat was tough and they sent it back. That helped me decide. I started with the freezer martini, ordered with both a twist and an olive. Clean, cold, and exactly what I wanted. I almost ordered a second. For my first dish I ordered the saag burrata -- Indian-spiced creamed spinach with burrata and grilled baguette. Fantastic. The burrata was cool and creamy, the spiced spinach underneath was warm and deeply flavorful. My only note was the bread -- three very thin slices felt skimpy for the amount of dip. A couple more would've balanced it perfectly. For my main I ordered the OG burger, mostly because I'm a horseradish lover and was excited about the horseradish crème fraîche. About two bites in I noticed it was extremely rare -- and I'm someone who appreciates medium rare, but this was beyond that. I let the server know, he handled it graciously, apologized, and had it remade quickly. I appreciated that. He also ended up comping it, which I genuinely wasn't expecting and went a long way. At that point I was finishing my martini and ready to head home, so I took the burger to go. The next day I reheated it -- bun on, everything still on it, minute and twenty seconds in direct heat. The outside was noticeably darker and crispier than the first one, clearly cooked harder this time. The flavors were there. I added a little hot sauce and it was working -- until I got to the middle. Still raw. Chewy in a way that wasn't medium rare, wasn't even close. As a chef I know what a burger should feel like after that much heat. The fact that it reheated to piping hot on the outside and was still raw in the center tells me the issue was in how it was formed or how thick it was packed -- and I have the pictures to prove it. I'll be honest -- it didn't stop me from wanting to go back. It just means I'm never ordering the burger again, which genuinely makes me sad because the flavor profile was there. The horseradish could've been punchier and the pickled onion more present, but the bones of the dish were good. It just couldn't execute consistently, twice. What I know is that OyBar has something. The creativity is real, the vibe is real, the saag burrata alone is worth the trip. I wish I tried out the the Oy burger with hoisin ketchup and Dijon -- that sounds more like what I was looking for. And I already told a friend we need to come back to share a few dishes because the menu feels like it's built for that. Highlights: Freezer martini, saag burrata, moody atmosphere, creative progressive menu, server handled a tough situation with genuine grace Could improve: Burger temperature consistency (twice is a pattern, not a mistake), bread portion with the burrata, stronger horseradish presence
