    Turkey sandwich
    Mia K.

Had an extremely disappointing experience here today with my friends. No waitstaff did as much as make eye contact with us the entire time. We ordered off the QR codes on the table (not even a physical menu, which I guess is normal these days but annoying.) Pictured is the sandwich my boyfriend paid $15 for, with no sides except for some coleslaw served in one of those tiny ketchup cups. I mean seriously, $15 for one piece of turkey?? But at least they threw in 3 of the world's tiniest pickles, so that was pretty generous. I got the cobb salad (also $15) and the portion was fine enough, but the dressing tasted like straight vinegar. I didn't ask for a refund or for a different meal because me and my friends were on a time limit. So we just sucked it up. When we ordered with the QR code, it had us pay right then too, so we had to tip before receiving any service. I tipped 18% and it was still too much. The servers never checked in on us or asked us how it was. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because the place was clean and the ambiance was nice. They sat us immediately and brought out the food quickly. Overall, I think these people need to get their stuff together and learn to serve quality food for the absurd prices they're charging.

We came here for an early breakfast. The restaurant was half empty when we arrived but was quickly starting to fill up by the time we finished eating. The staff was great, very attentive and efficient. My wife ordered their avocado toast and I ordered their biscuits & gravy. Both dishes were unique and definitely not your traditional dishes. The avocado toast cake topped with a jicama slaw and queso fresco. Very unique to put queso fresco on top of avocados and jicama but it worked and my wife loved it. The biscuits and gravy came with charred brussel sprouts which added some additional flavor that you don't expect in a biscuits and gravy dish, but it tasted phenomenal with it. I wouldn't say this place serves hearty dishes, more on the healthier side, so I don't see myself returning often but will definitely be back.

Quick caffeine fix... Appreciate this cafe is open later (6pm close). The latte was smoothe, with the syrup that was perfectly balanced/ not overpowering. Ordered: Earl Grey Lavender Latte

Had to get to this cafe after seeing it on a previous morning in Logan Square, and glad I made it back. It looks like an ordinary cafe from the outside. Same Day Cafe is actually quite a different kind of place though. For sure it has the breakfast and lunch basics like eggs. There's also a lot for vegans including shakes and sandwiches. Came later in the morning when there were lunch items also available. It was an opportunity to try a few interesting things on the menu. This place has items for both meat eaters and vegans. Good prices for the quality and considering it's a hipster area. We had to get a vegan shake. Each of us got the shake with coconut ice cream, pineapple, and rum. It's $12 so it's kind of expensive but it also has alcohol in it so not too bad for this. Basically it was a shake version of a pina colada. We got stuff to eat too. I had the Vegan Patty Melt. It's $12 but it's a pretty big one. This had a vegan burger made of black beans, oatmeal, and rice. It had vegan red pepper mayonnaise. This also came with mushrooms and onions. Efficient ordering and paying system all using your phone to complete everything. It wasn't slow to use like at many places that use it. This is open all day with morning and later menus and has plenty for carnivores and vegetarians.

I was visiting friends in Logan and this place caught my eye. I'm glad I stopped by! I had the horchata and curry chicken salad sandwich, both of which were very good. Service was a little slow, but there were only two people visibly working with a line of people. I'd go back!

Food. This food. It knew what it was. It had character. The flavor, it told a story. It enticed my tongue and my teeth. The BLT... immaculate. The tomato soup.. I wanted to call my mother and say hello. The lattes... lavender earl grey brought flowers to my uncle and called every relative on their birthday for me. The gentleness. This cafe makes me feel like I'm in a dream. Also they gave me water. I love free water. ... raspberry danish. Recommend. Egg yolks are a beautiful hue. Orange vibrancy seeps through that yolk. God am I stunned. To tell a story with flavor... so earnest. Even when short staffed the service feels sincere. Bjork serenades me while I consume a pastry. Complexity. ... love.

Egg salad sandwich was wonderful, a little slacking on the amount of egg but the bread is amazing! Nice staff and Quick kitchen! Will be back!

The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

Set in an old warehouse that is now an art gallery event space and restaurant nestled in an older warehouse district in Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. Beautiful decor and laid out perfectly. The natural wood floors furniture ie tables chairs etc and iron work throughout sets the ambiance for old meets new. It works. The wide spacing between tables makes for a comfortable dining experience. So many folks come in to do their work and dine here. What a super addition to the neighborhood that less than a decade ago was essentially a street that was more a run down semi-truck alley. Great menu with neighborhood favorites leaning toward the old school Italian dishes. Sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfasts just to name a few are all excellent. The pastries are insane and a must take home deal. I love the American Breakfast. Three eggs your way, thick diced America potatoes, thick cut bacon, and sourdough toast. Accompanied by what I believe to be home made jelly and for sure homemade gardiniera. Caruso's gardiniera actually. Diced into a relish unlike most standard gardiniera it's easier to eat with many dishes. Excellent flavor and just the right kick to it. FYI Dolce Arte also sells a to go line of homemade Caruso products from their gardiniera to past and past sauces and more. Yes, their coffee is really good too. Lavazza products I believe. The service is always on point. Casual but on point. Very friendly staff from diverse backgrounds. This is the place you bring people close to you, business lunches, meetings, formal ir informal, or like me, save it for myself as my own getaway spot. Why would you not order a flight to try a variety of drinks all at once? We had the hibiscus lemonade and matcha flight, the mango con crema and banana con crema were the standouts. The staff--at least the person who helped me--didn't feel super welcoming. Not that they were rude, just not particularly warm either. I get it though, because even I get a little irritable when it's hot, so maybe that played a part. What I love the most is that it's Latina-owned, and that's something I truly admire. I always try to support Latino entrepreneurs when they're doing things right, and this place is definitely doing something creative. We ordered two flights--one with coffee and one with matcha. Each flight comes with four small samples, and they were all seasonal fall flavors, which I thought was such a fun and unique idea. It's cool because you get to try different drinks in little cups, almost like a tasting experience. The coffee flight (we got it iced) was amazing--the flavors were bold and had that strong coffee taste I personally love. The matcha flight was also fun, but I would have preferred a stronger matcha flavor in some of them. They also have plenty of milk options--we ordered ours with oat milk and it was delicious. On top of that, they have a pretty wide food menu with bagels, sandwiches, wraps, and more. We tried the tuna sandwich and it was really good, definitely worth recommending. The café has little chairs outside, the vibe inside is cozy, and I loved that they were playing Spanish music. That's something you don't usually find in most coffee shops here, and it gave the place extra personality. The only thing I'm still unsure about is the price. For two flights (coffee + matcha) and the sandwich, the total was around $55. Maybe that's a bit expensive--or maybe it's just the nature of ordering flights, since I had never tried that before. Either way, it was worth it for the experience and the flavors. In short, it's a cute, cozy, and creative spot that's definitely worth checking out--especially if you're into seasonal flavors, want to try something unique, and love supporting Latina-owned businesses in Chicago.
