This was our second visit on a Sunday at 11:30 AM and a party of six. Let me just say that the brisket is absolutely. AMAZING.!! do not miss it. This is a sports bar. TVs can be seen from all angles. If you're there to watch a game you won't have to ask for a special seat. My son ordered the large portion of brisket. My husband ordered the small order of brisket. Son's mother-in-law ordered the grouper sandwich with the slaw on the side grandson ordered the grouper sandwich. I ordered the Texas bowl and my daughter-in-law ordered the avocado wrap with a side of Mac & cheese. We were seated immediately, and the restaurant was almost empty. It did take us quite some time to place our order as the menu is quite extensive .... once we were able to place our order, the restaurant had filled up. It took over an hour to get our food. When it came everything was perfect except the avocado wrap. It had NO avocado in it! The waitress was quick to check if everything was as it should be, the took it, quickly returned, but the side of Mac & cheese was cold. (It was good - but cold) Our waitress "Brie like the cheese" as she introduced herself was a wonderful little waitress, very helpful, friendly, and attentive. The manager came by and we explained what had happened and that Brie had taken care of it quickly and very nicely. We told him we understood that they were slammed with the crowd, but if it's going to be an hour wait it would be nice if there was some sort of an appetizer like nachos and chips or peanuts or even pretzels waiting for over an hour after ordering is a long time. (hence the four stars for the long wait time.) BE AWARE THAT THE PRICES ON THE MENU ARE NOT WHAT YOU GET CHARGED IF YOU USE A CREDIT CARD. THEY DO NOT ADD THE CHARGE AT THE BOTTOM THEY ADJUST EACH AND EVERY ITEM ON THE BILL! But to be fair, this is stated on the back of the menu in small print.

Friendly server and good food! My family got the sushi & said it was good. I opted for the 1/2 lb shrimp and it was great.

Amazing tasting shrimp! Tried the peel & eat shrimp and it was so good. Next went with the tiki shrimp and it was phenomenal. So delicious with the sweetie peppers. The bartender had a lot of people at the bar but was always checking in with me and did a wonderful job! Love the atmosphere here! Definitely will be visiting again!

Service was excellent! My brisket stew was too salty for me. Nice view of the river.

Just got a salad with brisket and the lettuce was all yellow and brown. Brisket was nothing but a hunk of fat. Very disappointing.

Excellent service. I had the brisket sandwich. Perfectly cooked, not too fat, great flavor. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat.

We left a diff restaurant with an hr+ wait bc this place supposedly only had a 20-30 min wait. We arrived, checked in and were told when one specific table leaves that we could have their table. There were other open tables but told they didn't have the staff to serve them. So we waited 30 min. and that table did leave on time. However, during that time at least 2 or 3 other parties came to the restaurant and were sat in those empty tables. We were told they had prior reservations AND that apparently they had someone already coming to fill the table we were originally promised. We could wait another 30-45 min for someone else to leave OR sit our 6 adults and 1 child separately at two high back booths with no contact. If it had been my decision I would have walked out immediately. No customer service by host or manager who came to hear it out. The rest of my party was too hungry to wait or go somewhere else so they sat separate and ate. I refused to give them my business and never will. VERY POORLY MANAGED and it obviously starts at the front of the house. My wife had the apricot salmon ($28) its was extremely bland. My 5 yr old son had shrimp and fries ($14!!) which were extremely mediocre at best. I've had better at Culver's. Restaurant looks poorly organized. Needs a renovation, and OBVIOUSLY some new staff who know how to provide customer service in a service industry. Ambiance was like a dive bar trying to serve food to survive. They won't be around long.

This farm-to-table restaurant supporting local farmers and fishermen is worth a try if in the area with a little something for everyone on their menu. The Deets: A friend of mine drove down from Wilmington while I was vacationing in Holden Beach recently and we decided to get dinner to catch up. Looking at options on the trusty Yelp app, we decided upon trying The Cove Restaurant for dining. It is located just a bit out from Holden Beach, along Hwy 130 going towards Shallotte. It has pretty good parking that was almost full when we arrived. When we went in to place our name on the waiting list, we were told it would be about 30 minutes wait (we were actually seated around 15-20 minutes) and so we used the table and chairs outside the door to relax and talk. When seated at a booth inside, we perused their menu and they have plenty of different selections (not just limited to seafood). The cover of the menu describes The Cove as a restaurant "...featuring all natural ingredients supporting local farmers and fishermen." This farm-to-table format is good to know going in and I'm glad they share that on the menu. We were given bread service to start with (loved the bread!) and my friend got their Homemade Crab Soup to start with, and he liked it a lot. I went for Fish & Chips for my dinner entree while my friend opted for their Chicken Marsala for his meal. I was satisfied with my meal, the beer battered deep fried cod fish tasted great here. I sampled my friend's Chicken Marsala and it was good but was hoping for more flavor to come through on the Marsala sauce. Service was acceptable from the host desk to our server, all went well. I enjoyed the first visit to The Cove Restaurant and would like to revisit them on future trips to the area.

My husband ordered the special Trio: grouper (blackened) with shrimp (fried) and scallops (blackened). It was served with mashed potatoes. The portion was huge! He said it was the best mashed potatoes he's ever had. I ordered the seafood linguini, scampi style - it was delicious with a generous amount of mussels, clams, shrimp, and scallops. There was an option to have the dish "fra diavolo" (spicy red sauce) which I may try next time. My husband shared his giant side-salad with me. It was an extra $2 for the salad that could have been a meal for me. Complimentary bread is served with olive oil and freshly cracked pepper and with single serving pats of butter. For dessert, we shared the housemade brownie with ice cream. It was recommended by our wonderful server, Bailey! It was a great first meal for us in Holden Beach as locals and no longer just visitors!

For my husband's birthday, I offered him 3 choices from great restaurants in our area all of which we have visited and enjoyed for special occasions but not for some time. His choice was Maya. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our server "Adi" (?-we're hard-of-hearing). My "many words" could describe her attributes as a professional filling just about any position. Yet, as our server she was courteous, poised, respectful, warm, non-intrusive, sensitive to timing (re: approaching tables), clear and knowledgeable re: our questions about entreés,most their ingredients & receptivity of such a choice enjoyed (or not) by previous patrons. Without being rushed, we savored one last forkful of our meals. (Mine was Lambchops, plantains, sprinkled with sesame seeds, and rice covered with a delicious semi-spicy red sauce. The "birthday boy" chose the Salmon dish (Mahi Cozumel?). Adi can help you but for double excellent service, call to make sure she's there (i.e. on the "night shift").

The food was a 10/10 I got the ACP and it was delicious and plated nicely. Even though we booked days in advance with a reservation of 20 people, unfortunately the staff was not well prepared. We arrived at 5:40pm, everyone did not receive their drinks until 6:15 and had to ask someone to take our order at 6:30. By 7 we had to also ask for our appetizer as we still had not received it and we did not receive our food until 7:30. We also had to flag down our waiter/waitress throughout the dinner in order to get refills and ended up not leaving until 8:20 as we had to wait for our check as well. Even though the food is good we will not be coming back because they were definitely not prepared for a group. Additionally some of our meals came out cold and we realized after we had cut or bitten into the food, the waiters took it back and you could tell it had been microwave as the same cuts were still in the food. After waiting almost 2 hours for our food it surely should not have come out cold.
