Took my family party of 4 on a week night no reservation needed as they were busy but not too busy. 3 of us ordered steak and they were cooked perfectly 1 ordered the brisket burger, he liked it but did not see that it actually had a hamburger patty he thought it would just be brisket. The food was as expected from a chain steakhouse but the service was quite odd we had a waitress whom we saw a couple of times but our food was brought by other servers each time who asked us if we wanted something and when we did ask for say steak sauce it never came and we had to ask someone else. Our waitress was not very attentive. Overall decent food and spotty service we dont plan on going back anytime soon. read more

Not impressed at all. i have been to many Saltgrass Restaurants, but this is the second worse one. The service was slow and a lot to be desired. i had to ask to be checked out!!! i ordered redfish topped with a creamy garlic butter sauce with shrimp crabmeat sauce. i had to ask for extra butter becus my dish was not creamy. Redfish over cooked and bland. Sweet potato and cesar salad was the best part of meal. Redfish was probably sitting under lamp waiting for my waiter Did not post picture becus i only post fabulous dishes I almost did not tip. But i don't believe in not tipping because i am not satisfied. Rather good or bad, they are wkg to pay their bills. and who knows what their situation is and how much and how far a tip can go That's why I love yelp. Take it to yelp. lol read more

So before you have any super high expectations, especially if you've eaten at high caliber steakhouses, don't expect that here, this is a chain, like Texas roadhouse, outback, etc. I walked in, and sat at the bar which was open seating. The hostess was nice I guess, I told her that it was my first time and I was an avid Yelper, and she kind of gulped and gestured me to the direction of the bar. They must be doing something right, they were super busy, and even had a wait list. The gentleman next to me with his 8 year old girl was able to circumvent the waitlist, and both of them sat at the bar and ate. I've never seen a child sitting at a bar but whatever. Typical Texas steakhouse decorum. Nothing extravagant, but it was clean. My bartender was some young dude. Very nice, attentive, great service overall. So we can get all that out of the way and get to the food and cocktails. Upon entering, I had a double Woodford on the rocks. I was sort of expecting a single ice cube or ice sphere, so I was sort of perplexed when I had normal cubed ice in My glass. Even lower end steakhouses typically have big ice especially for a good scotch or bourbon. Second cocktail I ordered was the midnight rider, a specialty cocktail. A little on the sweet side, definitely cider influenced. The dehydrated apple chip was actually really good, and I ate it. I wouldn't order it again, but it wasn't bad. I ordered a couple ranch Waters. The bartender salted my rim which was nice, they were pretty decent overall. First appetizer I ordered was the bacon wrapped quail. Stuffed with cream cheese and a sliver of jalapeno. They were actually really good, I wish they could have fit a little bit more jalapeno in there but they were good. The brussel sprouts however, seemed like they were air fried and they didn't have the glaze that the quail did. Brussel sprouts were just horrible. It didn't seem like they were tossing Olive oil, they had absolutely zero seasoning, no salt, no pepper, just flat out plain. At home, I typically broil my brussel sprouts, after tossing them in olive oil and Cajun salt, and then finishing them off with a fresh balsamic reduction, but these were kind of just manufactured to get in and out of the kitchen I guess. I ordered the tenderloin bites as a second appetizer. They were cooked rare, per my request, and we're sort of flavorful, but the sauteed mushroom / onion was definitely on point. Probably the highlight of my entire meal as far as flavor goes. Now don't knock me, because I just completely desecrated beef, but I ordered the Cajun style ribeye, that supposedly had crawfish and shrimp and some special sauce on it. I didn't really notice any crawfish, I had a couple shrimps a top my steak. Covered in some sauce, and I ordered parmesan truffle fries as my side. The fries were so so. I wouldn't order them again, definitely not worth the extra $3. Now my steak, I ordered it rare, and even in the picture it looks rare, but it was medium medium rare in all actuality. The steak? I can't say it was horrible, but I've had better steaks at outback, probably even Denny's to be honest. No flavor at all, overcooked, and I don't know if they found a cow that doesn't eat or sit around but rather runs 440s all day, and is super health conscious, but if I had to guess, there was probably next to no marbling. I mean it was tough as far as a ribeye goes. I didn't try, but I'm sure it couldn't even be cut with a butter knife. And just before you criticize me, and just so you know, my backyard shares a meadow with Woods and Lacey's Ranch, that produces beef for Harris Ranch. My whole experience was great overall, until I got my main course. This would be the type of place that I would come to for cocktails and appetizers, before going to a different steakhouse for a main course, because the actual main course fare, in my opinion, is lackluster at best. I was eager to be able to bring food back with me to enjoy tomorrow, that's why I ordered so much, but I was just so unimpressed with the main dish, I didn't even finish it, or bother to bring it home with me. Keep in mind, I only had the ribeye. I don't know about the chicken fried steak, and other entrees they offer, but I will tell you that although it wasn't a complete disaster, I'll most likely never come in here for supper, and I definitely will not bring someone in here for their first time. read more

Where do I even start.... I was recently eating at the Baytown location and I was completely disgusted by the behavior of one of the employees, a short gentleman. While eating not only did I notice this guy continuously scratching his genital area but my son noticed as well. This man then ran food to tables and passed out silverware to customers without ever washing his hands. I asked my server for that man's name and they said Rob. Never again! read more

Decent food for sure, but prices are the highest you'll find in Baytown. Steak is well prepared and nicely seasoned and sides are flavorful and varied. Service is friendly and nicely paced. Music is a little loud for the slightly more formal atmosphere than what is usually found in this town but that's okay by me! I'm a fan, it's my go to for a nice night out close to home. read more

Overall, decent experience. I mean this is the Applebees of Texas so know what you're walking into. Meea is a great server. Food was decent. Steak, brussels & fried mushrooms turned out fine. I worked in the service industry for years so I get that people have bad days but please check on your hostess. She needs a hug. I don't think she was intentionally trying to come off rude or anything but smile and greet your customers and be the first one to tell them "have a good night" as they're leaving your restaurant. Just sets a better tone and doesn't give the impression that you're inconvenienced by customers entering or exiting your establishment. read more

Took my girlfriend here on her lunch break on 7/25/25 around 12pm. Stood for about 5 minutes at the hostess stand until finally someone came and talked to us. Plenty of open tables to be seated. They spent about another minute writing stuff down and messing with the computer. Finally sat us down, spent another 10 minutes waiting for a waitress. At least we had plenty of time to figure out what we wanted for our full order. She ordered potato soup and an appetizer for her main entree. I had the 6oz steak and shrimp lunch special with an added on "smotherd" option that comes with mushrooms, onions and garlic butter on the steak, entree came with a salad as well. Salad and soup came out within decent time. The potato soup was fridge cold though. Looked around for any workers, none in sight. I took the soup to the kitchen and asked a waitress that came out if it was supposed to be cold. She said she would fix it. It got brought out after about 3-4 minutes. Same bowl of soup. Guess they heated it in a microwave. My girlfriend didn't have an issue with it. Our waitress came and checked on us. Told her about the soup and she apologized. Told her that my girlfriend needs to be back at work soon so waitress offered to make everything to go because there was a big party in front of our order. We said yes that's fine. Closed out and received our food to go. I got back home to eat my steak. Not smothered, no onions, no mushrooms, no garlic butter and realized waitress never asked how I wanted my steak cooked. I like it medium rare. It came medium-well/well done and dry. Just another Landrys experience. Hopefully I can convince my girlfriend to not choose this spot again in the future. read more

We went to Saltgrass in Baytown, Tx. today and it was a very bad experience. First they broke a huge glass of ice water all over the floor and my feet and brought out 1 rag to clean up the whole isle and none under our table so we had to finally throw down our cloth napkins and that did not soak up the water and glass. Our server was good and stayed on top of cleaning the table. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and it was the same thing that the restaurant next door sells for 4.00 cheaper. It was not real chicken but pressed patty meat that was gray and the breading would not stay on. I paid 17.99 for that and the smallest salad ever with no tomatoes or anything on it but cheese which tasted like velveeta so I took it off. The baked potato was good. My friends food was too salty and the salmon looked DRY. She didnt finish. Two other times we waited until all the other tables had finished their food and left before we got ours and it was COLD. That manager offered us cake at least but I was not able to eat the cold food. It is a shame what it has become and I am still shocked about sitting in ice water and glass. Saltgrass is my next option if a Brazilian steakhouse is not near. The portion sizes are good and you won't leave hungry. Also being a member of their loyalty program allows you to get seated faster if they are on a wait and after buying food up to a certain amount will get you a $25 credit to use anywhere in their empire. I started us off with the sauce appetizer which came with 2 salsas and a queso with chips. It was a great deal because it wasn't outrageously priced. I ended up ordering the 17 oz Prime Rib cooked medium. It was very delicious. It did come with your choice of salad or soup and 1 side. The service was pretty good and didn't have any problems. Our waitress was very attentive and followed through on the few requests I had. My only beef with them is that prices could come down a bit. Nevertheless we'll be back in the future. read more

Steakhouse, But I​ had fish!! During a visit to the Baytown area, I had the pleasure of stopping by the Saltgrass Steakhouse. I was in the mood for a good steak and I heard that Saltgrass was one of the best places in town for a steak. When I arrived I saw seated immediately, and my server actually told me that the guests had been raving about the Blackend RedFish they had that night. The first dish to arrive at my table was the house-made bread which was soft, moist and still piping hot, and the butter melted right on the bread. My first course was a very enjoyable Chicken Tortilla Soup, perfect for sopping up with that delicious fresh bread. My main course came smothered with Lump Crabmeat and Shrimp. Despite the lemon butter and seafood on top of the fish, I could still taste the distinct flavour of the Redfish, which was a bonus. The restaurant itself has a very classic steakhouse like feel and a very good wine list which a good steakhouse should. This was a very good meal and not too expensive, so it was worth the money I paid for it. read more

Once again I was not dissatisfied by coming here. It was an amazing meal, just like before. This is truly a great place to enjoy a wonderful meal. You can't go wrong here, the atmosphere is great, all the decor is amazing. They sure do need a steak house like this back home in Utah. It would do amazing there. Service is always to notch when you eat here. Try the shrimp cocktail appetizer it is amazing!!! Also save some room for carrot cake, it is one of the best I have ever had.
